Monday....And Here Comes Another Week!

Oh, goody, it's Monday!
I got up early again today and it's just going downhill from there.lol
I won't bore you with my aches and pains but let me say it's hell getting old. ;-)
At least I have #1 son here to move the leftover boxes of stuff from the Flea Market yesterday to storage for the time being.
More on the Flea Market later when I get time to sit and ponder on the experience.....for now I'll just say that sunburn in not fun! ;-)

Now that my car is empty I need to wake #1 son up so we can get to the Bread Outlet(didn't I JUST GO THERE?!?!)since these kids seem to be addicted to bread lately and then we get to go to Lowe's for some gardening supplies to I can FINALLY get my garden going....yeah!
Later in the week, when the rain finally stops, #1 son can help me get it planted.
But first it's a trip to stand in line at the PO because though Paypal let me print the label with postage for this package I need to mail I need to go fill out a customs form since it's going to an APO/FPO, so 'technically' it's an overseas package though it's domestic/military rates.  Oh goody.....

The house is a mess, the laundry is creeping into the hallway, I have no meal plan for the week, children making demands on me and my time and being absolutely NO HELP,  having to sort out the flea market leftovers, tons of stuff ready for eBay that I have to take photos of and actually LIST THEM if I want them to sell, a garage to clean and organize and I have to prepare for a week long visit from relatives.  Throw in DH is going to be out of town part of this week & I might be taking a quick trip to VA for a few days and I am quickly going into sensory overload!
EGADS!
At least I have tons of cleaning products and toilet paper to clean up the mess here when my head explodes....and it just might do that....explode I mean.....

So tune in later.  I'll be posting another set of goodies for the BORING BOX GIVEAWAY since I'm getting tired of Marilyn's entries on the current post for it.LOLOL
And hopefully if my head stays intact, I'll have a post on the flea market later tonight.

Happy Happy Monday!!
Yeah right.....

The Return of the Eating Machine....And Other Tales

Yes, #1 son has been home 6 days now.  And my food budget is beginning to feel the strain.

It's barely 1/2 way through the month and I have spent $142.50 on food for May.  While this isn't such a terrible number for 2 weeks and we really haven't been grocery shopping much at all this past week, we are making quite the dent in the freezer/stockpile.  And alot of what I spent the 1st week in May on groceries was in anticipation of #1's return home.
We've spent $14.32 on food since Monday.  This was on milk and fresh produce.  But I've been making dinners #1 requested like Beef Stroganoff, Corned Beef and Cabbage, Clam Chowder from scratch with BLT's.  Tonight is the Fish Fry and Mother's Day DH made Fried Chicken and tomorrow it's Burgers and Dogs on the grill.  It's been one big Meat Parade around here lately.
Add in that #1 has been raiding the freezer each night for "Fourth Meal" so I wake up to a kitchen full of dirty dishes and pans each morning.
I think next week I tell him the Honeymoon is Over and show him the shelf of Ramen Noodles out in the garage....

So we've been eating down on lots of stuff here.
I might be taking a short trip next week so there won't be any stocking up for another week or so until I get back.

I still haven't made it up to Rite-Aid this week.
Maybe later today since I need to go to the bank for change for the Flea Market.
Yes, the FM is a go this Sunday.  Sunday's forecast is warmish and partly sunny so I sitting here trying to figure out pricing for my items.  I want to be a tad more organized this year since last Oct.'s FM foray was just NUTS once it opened!  Not a moment for 2 solid hours to catch my breath.  If I can't get everything actually priced with a sticker, I need to get a sheet made up for DH so he isn't so clueless about the prices.
It will also take some of the stress off of me if he can tell people the prices.
After I finish this and rouse 'Sleeping Beauty' aka #1 son, I am off to the living room with marker in hand to go through the stack of boxes of goodies.

Have you done a stockpile sale lately?
How did you do?  And what were your prices??
Help! ;-)

What I Hate about eBay #1....

When eBay Users who have no knowledge of English send you "Question to Seller" inquiries on the original eBay board.
Do I go on eBay China, eBay Russia, eBay Spain, etc. and attempt to buy stuff without knowing a lick of those countries languages?  Nope.....

These people need to be told that ONLINE TRANSLATORS may NOT be your friend and they should really find a friend in Real Life who reads/writes/speaks just a tiny bit of English to proofread their literal translations before sending.

Case in Point--
A question I received this morning......
"Hello I´m interesting in your products of Lego. I live in Spain, I like know the prize of the spend send."

Luckily, this one is decipherable.
Some of the ones I get are A LOT worse and totally unintelligible!
OK....so receiving Questions in other languages, which I also sometimes get, is no prize either!LOL

Now why, if I WAS in my right mind, would I want to sell something to this person?
Since we have a pretty big language barrier right off the bat(since I don't speak Spanish and he obviously doesn't speak English), if ANYTHING goes wrong with this transaction(another question, he misinterprets my answer, there is a Paypal payment issue, he doesn't comprehend some finer point of the whole eBay scene/rules, etc.), this potential transaction will result in a whole mess a' nothing but badness.
I foresee being pissed off, losing money and possibly losing my item or any combination of these three.

"Dear Non-English Speaking User,
Thank you for your inquiry.  While the products of Lego is no Prize, the spend send is $55US, especially if you live in Spain."

Now let me run this response through the English to Spanish online translator and then send it.  It will probably make as much sense to him as if I reply rationally to his question.  ;-)

Even If You Think You Know Everything about Doing Taxes.....

So.....when our Federal Income Tax showed up in our checking account via direct deposit a couple of weeks ago, it made me happy......

Really!....wouldn't that make anyone happy?lol

But the amount that was deposited didn't sound quite what I remembered it should have been.  So I went and got out our copy of the forms we filed and the numbers didn't match up with what we actually got back.
We got back more than we thought we would!
Hmmm....

So a few days later I received a letter in the mail from the IRS.
*Cue up the ominous music.....

After I picked my still beating heart up off of the floor, I proceeded to open the letter with trepidation, just waiting for a team of men in black suits to burst through the front door and haul we away in leg irons.
Luckily, that didn't happen.

The letter was an explanation of why we got back a refund that didn't jive with what we figured our refund was going to be.
It seems we qualified for that "Making Work Pay" Credit...line 63 on the long form if you are a tax geek.

Seeing as the government considers our income in the "rich people" range(see me slap my knee and keel over with laughter!),  I didn't even download the worksheet/form or instructions to see if we could claim this credit.  I just assumed we made too much money to apply for it.
Well, I was wrong.
Imagine that?

And my wonderful government had some diligent IRS employee recalculate our return figures and they sent us $800 more than we had expected back.

Now isn't that nice of them?
I thought so.

Moral of this story......
Even if you think you know everything about doing something, you probably don't.
It's always good to take a look at how you do things with a fresh eye.

Rite-Aid Trips on Saturday...4 Times Because I was Too Lazy to Go All Week!

Since our Sunday inserts didn't get that $4/1 Nivea Q the Sunday before last, I ordered whole inserts off of eBay.  Couldn't find anyone there selling JUST the Nivea Q that didn't require a second mortgage on the house. 8-(

They came pretty fast but I was just too danged lazy or busy or sick or a combo of all to get my keester up to Rite-Aid until Saturday(the last day of the sale on the Nivea Body Wash).  And then I spent a good chunk of my day hitting Rite-Aids in between taking #2 son to look for new pants.
Between the Nivea Qs and the Benadryl Qs($5 off 2) and spending at least $20 at a pop so I could use the AdPerks VV Qs $5 off $20 purchase, I did quite well.

Transaction #1
2 x Nivea Body Wash on sale $3.50!?=$7.00
3 x Benadryl Allergy $5.49-Wellness Discount makes it $4.39 ea.=$13.17
2 x Cello Cherries $.33-Wellness Discount makes it .26¢=$.52
SubTotal.....$20.69

Coupons Used
1 x $5/$20 AdPerks VV IPQ=$5.00
2 x $4/1 Nivea ManuQ=$8.00 **Yes, these went thru w/out beeps so $1 in overage!
1 x $5/2 Benadryl ManuQ=$5.00
1 x $1.50/1 Benadryl IPQ=$1.50
1 x $1/$10 Pain Reliever Purchase Wellness IPQ=$1.00
Coupon Total....$20.50

$20.69=$20.50=$.19 OOP-Put on Rite-Aid Gift Card

Ok, the Cherries are because the Nivea rang up $3.50 instead of $3.99 and I was going to be negative if I used my last $1/$10 Q.  So I added 1 cherry and I didn't think about that blasted 20% Wellness discount bringing this price down too low, so I had to add another cherry.lol
I was able to use that $1/$10 Pain Reliever Q on the 3 boxes of Benadryl because I bought Benadryl with Pain Reliever in it(the sinus or cold plus type).  Regular Benadryl doesn't work for this.

Transaction #2

2 x Nivea Body Wash on sale $3.50=$7.00
2 x Benadryl Allergy $5.49-Wellness Discount makes it $4.39 ea.=$8.78
1 x Motrin PM $5.49-Wellness Discount makes it $4.39=$4.39
1 x Eos Lip Balm on sale $2.99/with Wellness Discount $2.63=$2.63
2 x Iced Tea $.99-Wellness Discount makes it $.79 ea.=$1.58 **Not Pictured**
SubTotal.....$24.38

Coupons Used
1 x $5/$20 AdPerks VV IPQ=$5.00
2 x $4/1 Nivea ManuQ=$8.00 **Yes, these went thru w/out beeps so $1 in overage!
1 x $5/2 Benadryl ManuQ=$5.00
1 x $3/1 Motrin PM ManuQ=$3.00
1 x $3/1 Motrin PM In-Ad Q=$3.00
Coupon Total....$24.00

$24.38-$24.00=$.38 OOP-Put on Rite-Aid Gift Card
And I qualified for SCR #52(Eos Lip Balm)=$2.00 Rebate

**Between the coupon overage for the Motrin ($4.39-$6= -$1.61)& the $1 in Nivea Q overage, I had $2.61+ the $5 AdPerks $5 off $20 'credit' toward my bill in this transaction.
So the Motrin was free, the Nivea was free and I put $3.78 of that credit toward the 2 Benadryls' cost.
After 'paying' for all those items, I still had $3.83 in overage to spend, so I bought the Lip Balm for $2.63.  After that I still had $1.20 in overage to spend, so I added the iced teas @ $1.58 as we were thirsty. $1.58-$1.20 'overage'=$.38 OOP.

Transaction #3

2 x Nivea Body Wash on sale $3.50=$7.00
3 x Benadryl Allergy $5.49-Wellness Discount makes it $4.39 ea.=$13.17
SubTotal.....$20.17

Coupons Used
1 x $5/$20 AdPerks VV IPQ=$5.00
2 x $4/1 Nivea ManuQ=$8.00 **Yes, these went thru w/out beeps so $1 in overage!
1 x $5/2 Benadryl ManuQ=$5.00
1 x $1/1 Benadryl ManuQ=$1.00
1 x $1/$10 Pain Reliever Purchase Wellness IPQ=$1.00
Coupon Total....$20.00

$20.17=$20.00=$.17 OOP-Put on Rite-Aid Gift Card

And then I repeated this order.....
Transaction #4
2 x Nivea Body Wash on sale $3.50=$7.00
3 x Benadryl Allergy $5.49-Wellness Discount makes it $4.39 ea.=$13.17
SubTotal.....$20.17

2 x $4/1 Nivea ManuQ=$8.00 **Yes, these went thru w/out beeps so $1 in overage!
1 x $5/2 Benadryl ManuQ=$5.00
1 x $1/1 Benadryl ManuQ=$1.00
1 x $1/$10 Pain Reliever Purchase Wellness IPQ=$1.00
Coupon Total....$20.00

$20.17=$20.00=$.17 OOP-Put on Rite-Aid Gift Card

Total to Date for the May Rite-Aid SCR Period

No. of Transactions....6
Out of Pocket......56¢ put on free Gift Card=Zero OOP

Weis Pet Food.....What I Ended up Doing Last Week

The last you heard this intrepid Couponer had 2 $10 OYNO Catalinas and was out of Mighty Dog $3/5 cans Qs but had other Qs to use for more almost free dog food.

So we did this on Saturday....

2 x Beggin' Strips reg.$3.29/sale $2.50=$5.00
2 x Kitten Chow reg. $1.89/sale $1.50=$3.00
2 x Purina Dog Chow 20lb. bag reg. $11.99/sale $9.99=$19.98 **Not Pictured**
1 x Friskies Cat Treats reg. $1.49/sale $1.25=$1.25
SubTotal  reg. $35.85/sale $29.23

Coupons Used
2 x $1/1 Beggin' Strips ManuQ=$2.00
2 x FREE Kitten Chow ManuQ=$3.00
2 x $1.50 Dog Chow ManuQ=$3.00
1 x $1/1 Friskies Cat Treats ManuQ=$1.00
Coupon Total....$9.00

$29.23-$9.00-$20.23

Used 2 x $10 OYNO Cats=$20.00
$20.23-$20.00=$.23 + tax $1.75=$1.98 OOP
And I received another $10 OYNO Catalina

I was so glad and shocked! that they had restocked the Kitten Chow that I had FREE ITEM Qs for...otherwise my OOP would have gone over $2.75 with the tax.egads!lol

All together, including the dog food I bought at the local independent grocery,  I spent out of pocket $6.59(2x $1.98+$2.63), all but .93¢ of that was TAX.  And if you count the $10 Cat I have left, I am "up" $3.41 in overage.

230 cans of Mighty Dog
40lbs. of Dog Chow
3 bags of Friskies Cat Treats
2 lb. of Kitten Chow
2 bags of Beggin' Strips
That's $176.81 Retail Value of Pet Food +1 $10 Catalina
And it all cost me $6.59.

Oh yah!!

Happy Mother's Day to All You Moms Out There!

Here's hoping all you moms out there had a wonderful Mother's Day.
This Cartoon hit home for me.  Both of my sons opted NOT to give me a card, a hug, a kiss or acknowledge the day.
Typical man behavior, no?
I would have even settled for what the mom in the cartoon got.....8-(

DH-who knows better than to do this-had a bouquet of flowers(lavender ones, of course!lol) & a card(funny on the outside, appropriately mushy on the inside) waiting for me when I came downstairs Sunday morning.  He also made dinner....from scratch! ;-)

Daughter surprised me this year.  She got her butt up early Sunday morning and went out in search of just the right Mother's Day card and bought me a plant too.....all with her OWN MONEY!  If you knew Daughter, you would KNOW what a sacrifice this was for her.lol  I also got a "Happy Mother's Day" and a big hug from her.
I just keep wondering if she wasn't in the doghouse for having a car accident in the high school parking lot on Thursday if she would have been as attentive to me Sunday. 8-P

Here's picture of the cards I received.  The larger one on the left in the photo with the purple flowers is the one Daughter gave me.....
If you can't make out the words, it says, "You've been like a mom to me...."
LOL
The insides joke here is that when she and her older brother were 3 & 4 years old, my DH took them to the drug store to pick out cards to give me for Mother's Day.  Not being able to read, Daughter picked out her card because of the pretty flowers on the front.  That card said, "You've been like a mom to me...." also.  So now she makes an effort to find a Mom Day card with that same sentiment....evidently because I am just like a MOM.
8-))

$30K Savings Challenge APRIL 2010 Totals.....Happy Dance!

I have posted my APRIL End of Month $30K $AVING$ CHALLENGE Totals.
Check out the side bar to your right for the specific numbers.

I have to report that we finished up April waaaaaaay  in the Black.

The extra cash amount we ended the month of April with was.......$6,366.78.

Income
We had $2,290.77 left over of DH's salary after expenses were deducted. Add in a gas voucher of $26.68 for some business traveling he paid OOP for in April, a hefty $159.33 in Rebates & our big fat Income Tax Refund of $3,890.00 which we received in April and you have a nice deposit of $6,366.78 toward the Savings Challenge!
The nice thing is that even if you take off the Tax Refund, we have $2,476.78 leftover to put toward savings.  That is just $24+/- short of the $2,500 estimate we need to save each month to reach a $30K Savings Goal for the Year!  So even without the tax refund, we are right on track.

Outgo
As for the expenses in April.....

The electric bill went down another $80 in April so that number is NOT causing me dread when I peek inside the envelope each month when it arrives.

The credit card bill was down below $350, which is always a welcomed sight.

Out-of-the-ordinary expenses in April....our municipal/local tax bill was due(over $1K), the car needed it's yearly inspection and #2 son snookered me into buying candles(I need another candle like I need leprosy!) for the Marching Band fundraiser.  It was NOT a very bad month for extra expenses, which really helped boost the amount we could throw into savings this month.

The Food Budget costs for April are in another post, which is located HERE.  Food/Toiletries spending in April was under the budgeted $250.00 even without throwing the rebate money that came in last month at this expense.  After the rebate money we only spent $38.86 on food/toiletries and our Savings percentage was a whopping 92.40%!

Looking Ahead to May....
#1 son aka the 'eating machine' comes home from college & we have a week long visit from a relative in May, so the food spending will no doubt go up.
The Credit Card bill as of May 3rd is already over $1,000 for May(due to 2 large purchases by DH).
The water bill will increase some as DH opens the pool for the season later this month.
We will have some bills for doctor's visits & prescription drugs as well and a $1,000 expenditure for #2 son's summer camp stay which needs to be paid this month.

On the bright side, we have potential for some addition income in May as I plan on taking the extras in my stockpile to sell at the flea market.  Wish me luck on that! ;-)

I am hoping to be able to meet our monthly goal of $2,500 saved in May.

YTD Standings....
We have a Year To Date Total of $14,890.50 in Savings.  To save $30K for the year, we need to put away $2,500 per month average.  We are almost 2 months ahead of our target as the 4th month savings total goal was $10,000!  We are 1/3rd of the way through the year now and our savings should be at $10,000.  It's actually almost at $15,000, which is the savings goal for the end of June(or halfway through the year)! 8-))

While I am thrilled beyond words! to be this far ahead of our projected goal, the doomsday naysayer in me is just waiting for the other financial shoe to drop.  There must certainly be economic disaster around the next bend or some GOTCHA expense lying in wait to blow our goals out of the water.
I am trying to remain cheerfully optimistic that this pile of savings is NOT a mirage. ;-)

So how was your April financially?  Leave a comment and share with us what you did with your money, both the good and not-so good.   Do you have any tricks or tips that help you to end your month before the money runs out?    Let us know!
If you posted your financial progress on your own blog, leave a link in the comments so we can go check you out too!

Oh My.....

Before we moved to the house we presently reside in here in "Teeny Tiny" Town, we lived in a house outside of "Itsy Bitsy" Town, moving there in 1986.  Itsy Bitsy Town is right near the Delaware River, which serves as border between PA, NY & NJ at that area.  The interstate has an exit to the west of "Itsy Bitsy" Town near the neighboring "Even More Itsy Bitsy" Town.  There use to be a Gas Station/Mini Mart at the exit ramp where they sold fireworks every summer from a stand set up on the grass by the parking lot.  People would pop over from NY & NJ, where these fireworks are illegal.  The stand did a "bang up" business if you pardon my pun. ;-)
Here's the best photo I could find on the internet.  You'll have to pardon it too as it's from the massive flooding from 2005.  The red dot is the exit ramp and the white circle is where the gas station/mini mart stood.  The blue circle is the fire department building.

Pretty soon the Gas Station/Mini Mart did so well they started selling fireworks inside the store.  Flush with money they got a Taco Bell franchise(first for this area)inside part of the store.  The franchise didn't last but a year or two and then the Mini Mart expanded the fireworks they carried into the old restaurant part of the building.  I used to attend the Bingo at the Fire Dept. building a couple of lots away from this Gas Station/Mini Mart.  I drove by it many times a week taking my oldest 2 kids to the private school they attended for awhile over the river in New York.  I bought tacos and chalupas in that mini mart and pumped gas there too.
After we moved out, at some point the people who owned the Gas Station/Mini Mart sold out to a big fireworks chain--Phantom Fireworks.
If you get were I am going with this you are correct....this is the same place the suspected terrorist bought his fireworks he used in his car bomb parked in Times Square.
Here's a mention in the local area paper.

It is totally freaking me out....and I haven't even lived there for 10 years!

And This is Why.....

Today is 'eBay' day here and I am trying to get some of the boxes of stuff sorted through from storage....if the dogs will leave me be for more than 10 minutes.

My "Separation Anxiety Bagel" has progressed from having to be able to SEE me and get to me at will every second he is awake to having to actually be in contact with my body every second he is awake.
Do you know how limiting it is to have a 40lb. dog attached to you at all times?
Presently he is slobbering on my foot & snoring.  I don't dare get up without causing major consternation so I have stacked 6 boxes beside me and here I sit, sorting.....

I pulled out some doozies here a few minutes ago.
This photo should explain why, in addition to yard sales and Salvation Army, I am no longer allowed to go to Big Lots without a chaperone to tell me things like.....
"Put that down NOW or we are leaving the store!" or....
"Yah, it's funny...so what?" or....
"Do you REALLY think it's a good idea to buy that?!?"

Yes folks, I have my very own inflatable Krusty the Clown and Itchy & Scratchy dolls!
As Homer would say....."Who-HOOO!"

You think this is bad.....I also had bought an APU the Quickie Mart Clerk Doll but gave that to my son a few years ago.

So you are NOT the only one with an inflatable toy fetish SonyaAnn.

That is all....carry on.

Woof means "Thanks Mom for the Cheap Dog Food!"

I went and got 40 of these Mighty Dog $3 off 5 cans Qs a couple of weeks ago to add to the few I already had.  I spent last week taking 4 at a pop up to the local independent grocery store as this dog food was on sale for 60¢ a can, so I got all this for free......

That's 90 cans there.
And none of the cashiers put the sale under taxable so no tax paid either....sweet! ;-)

So I still had enough Qs left this week, since I didn't make enough trips last week to use them all, to do some scenarios at Weis Markets.  These Mighty Dog canned foods are part of a Catalina Deal at Weis this week....Spend reg. shelf price of $35 on select pet foods, get $10 OYNO Catalina/Spend $25, get $5 Catalina.

So I went up to Weis on Monday and bought this.....

60 x Mighty Dog Cans reg. .60=$36.00/on sale .55=$33.00
Used 12 $3/5 Mighty Dog Qs(adjusted down to $2.75/5)=$33.00
Total....Zero+$1.98 tax=$1.98

And I received a $10 OYNO Catalina

So I hiked up again today and bought this.....

54 x Mighty Dog Cans reg. .60=$32.40/on sale .55=$29.70
2 x Friskies Cat Treats reg. $1.49=$2.98/on sale $1.25=$2.50
Total.....reg. retail $35.38/sale price $32.20

Coupons Used
10 x $3/5 Might Dog Qs(adjusted down to $2.75/5)=$27.50
2 x BOGO Mighty Dog Qs=$1.10
1 x $1.50/1 Friskies Cat Treats=$1.50
Coupon Total....$30.10**
Suppose to be $30.10 but the cashier put the BOGOs through at $1.25 each....huh?  So instead of $1.10 off on the Mighty Dog BOGOS I got $2.50 off.....oooookkkkkay!
ACTUAL Coupon Total....$31.50

$32.20-$31.50=$.70 + $1.93 tax=$2.63 OOP
And another $10 OYNO Catalina.

I had planned on getting some FREE ITEM coupon Kitten Chow bags but they were out.  If I had been able to get those and use the Qs for them, my total before tax would have been a ridiculous 15¢ instead of 70¢. lol

Now I am out of Mighty Dog Qs but I have 2x $10 Cats and here is what I am planning on getting tomorrow.
**IF the other Weis store still has any Purina Kitten Chow on the shelf(which is free with the coupon from Sunday's insert)I'll do this....

2 x 17lb. Dog Chow reg. $11.99=$23.98/sale $9.99=$19.98
2 x Kitten Chow bags reg. $1.89=$3.78/sale $1.50=$3.00
2 x Beggin' Strips reg. $3.29=$6.58/sale $2.50=$5.00
1 x Friskies Cat Treats reg. $1.49/sale $1.25
SubTotal.....reg. $35.87/sale $29.23

Coupons Used
2 x $1.50/1 Dog Chow=$3.00
2 x Free Kitten Chow=$3.00
2 x $1/1 Beggin Strips=$2.00
1 x $1/1 Friskies Treats=$1.00
Coupon Total....$9.00

$29.23-$9.00=$20.23

2 x $10 OYNO Cats=$20.00
$20.23-$20.00=$.23 + $1.35tax=$1.58 OOP
And I get another $10 OYNO Catalina. ;-)

Te recap that will be.....

3 Friskies Cat Treats
2 Beggin Strips
2 bags of Kitten Chow
2 l7lb. bags Dog Chow
204 cans Mighty Dog

For a grand total of .93¢ + $5.26 in TAX!=$6.19 OOP
And a $10 Cat left to spend.

Are you working the Pet Food Catalina deal this week?  What is your plan?

A Milestone.....and a Giveaway Reminder

I just wanted to pause for a moment of silence to commemorate an accomplishment I made over the weekend.  At some point in the last few days, some kind eBay buyer left me a feedback and I officially rolled over and hit the 4 Thousand feedback mark!
Little old me.....4,000 non-deranged user feedbacks.
Come on over everyone.....the party hats are optional and the cake is on me!!

Here's another "eBay is the world's largest crap shoot" story for your files.....
I put this reproduction Lost in Space Lunchbox up on eBay recently.....
I listed it as I do all my items as a Buy It Now store item with a solid price...not insanely high and not a "give it away" price.  It's in mint condition, still wrapped in plastic as it came from the factory.
About a week ago I get a "Question to Seller"....someone wants to buy this but they want a better price and they go on and suggest what price they want to pay.  Usually I don't take too kindly to folks offering me less than what I set the price at.  If I was open to taking less for it I would have put a BEST OFFER option on the listing...which I hadn't.
But then as I was feeling unkindly toward this potential cheap buyer, I thought....What the heck!  This item was absolutely FREE to me, didn't cost a penny, and I've been carting it around for 10 years now and am finally getting around to trying to sell it and they offered me pretty close to what I had it listed for.  So I added a Best Offer option at the price they wanted it for and emailed them about having put this option on the listing and told them to go buy it.
And I waited.....and waited for 2 more days and they didn't buy it...nor did they email me back to say they found another one from someone else.
Rude jerks. ;-)
The next morning, I discovered the item had sold but it was to someone else.
And even better this buyer had just bought it at the listed price and had NOT used the Best Offer to get it for less!
And as I packed up the Lunchbox to ship out an email came in with another Question to Seller......asking me if I had sold the lunchbox and if I had anymore to sell.

Can't sell it for less than I wanted and now I have people standing in line to buy it.LOL
Further proof that eBay is the world's largest crap shoot.

**PROGRAM NOTE**
A reminder also that you can stop by the current Giveaway page(see the link at the TOP of the right side bar)EACH DAY to place another entry.  There is only 1 person who has been diligently returning for their daily entry who will remain anonymous, by the name of Marilyn.  So unless ya'll want Marilyn to kick your butts on this Giveaway, get on over and enter! ;-)
Update***New goodies going into the box later today!

That is all.

It's Monday Again!

It's already noon and I am just now getting my keester in gear.
Mondays.......

The last 2 days here have been brutally hot.....say like 90 degrees hot!
We went from March to mid August in terms of the weather and frankly my dear, it SUCKS donkeyass!!

No, if you haven't guessed by now, I am NOT a big fan of hot humid weather.
If we actually had central a/c I might be less of a hot hater.
Needless to say we got nothing done in the yard or garden over the weekend.   I grilled out steaks one night and refused to cook on the other night.  Sunday was spent moving around as little as possible...
Ugh!  The rainstorms passed mostly south of us(like by a mere 5 miles!)so we got no cooling relief.  I am hoping the skies will actually open up here today so I can feel human again.

Speaking of coupons......was I?lol....neither our area or Philly got the $4/1 Nivea coupons in the Sunday inserts so I just gave in and bought some whole inserts(with those coupons)on eBay.
Bleh.
Why did I give in and do that??
I need more body wash like a hole in the head!
I guess this week will see me hiking up to Rite-Aid once the inserts get here.  Hey, it gives me an excuse to go to Rite-Aid so it's not a totally bad thing. ;-)

I've got a couple of boxes to ship today, motel reservations to make for July, fundraiser candles to pick-up later, bread to buy at the Entenmann's Outlet, the end of April Savings Challenge post to write, eBay photos and listings to complete, a stack of papers and coupon inserts to file, and I am sure I am forgetting some other pressing thing on my "to do" list that my CRS brain can't recall.
Oh yeah, I don't have a meal plan for this week planned yet either.....which I run Sunday to Sunday....and it's Monday already.

Later this week, we've got the nephew's birthday, I've got organizing to do in the garage, stuff in the living room/dining room(aka eBay Central) to deal with and #1 son comes home this Saturday so we will be more cramped for space than usual.
The following weekend I am doing the local flea market(if the weather is good)and then we have a week-long visit from a relative so I may be disappearing from online for a few days.

So what is everyone else doing this week?  I hope you are going to have more fun them I am!lol

April Rite-Aid SCR Period Spending and TOTALS & Rite-Aid Chit-Chat

I just went through all my receipts from Rite-Aid.
I did not shop a lot in April so I only made 6 trips between 3/28 & 4/24th,  and spent $.00 in cash for the April Single Check Rebate Period of March 28th to April 24th.
Actually I "spent" $6.89.

But all of what I spent was put on assorted Gift Cards, so my Out of Pocket was ZERO.

These Gift Cards were obtained as earned rewards from assorted prior purchases at Rite-Aid.  It was all free money to begin with that I used to get more products for free.
And some of what I bought with these gift cards qualified me for SCRs, or more Single Check Rebates, so I got paid money for buying some of the items...which didn't cost me anything out of pocket to begin with.
You follow me? ;-)

So I spent $.00 during the April SCR Period.
I received $158.21 in products.
And I will receive a check amounting to $8.00 in rebates.
With these purchases, I  am also $17.56 toward a $50 'purchase' which will net me a $25 Rite-Aid Gift Card(SCR#552). (I have almost 2 months left to complete another $32.44 in purchases for this SCR.)

$.00 outgo.
$8.00 income.
$158.21 of toiletries/food.

Rite-Aid paid me $8 to bring home $158.21 of stuff in April.
If you want to see the list of what I got paid to bring home you can find it on this post HERE.
For me, $8 is nothing compared to most of my other month's checks but it's still something. ;-)

April was a big month for Rite-Aid, as they rolled out the Wellness Program nationwide.  Even though I already have a Wellness card/account and I didn't request to sign up again when the program went "live" across the country, I received a new set of Wellness cards(big one and the little keyring ones too)the week before the roll out.  This new card said I already had a 20% discount available to me(which I had earned already with my old Wellness card).  But the new card has a different 'number' than my old card.  I really didn't feel like activating this new card(who knows?....something could have gone wrong in the changeover and they may have 'lost' my 20% discount or whatever).  So on my first trip to Rite-Aid last week after the roll out I asked the clerk if I could still use my old card.  He had NO CLUE!  Ok.....so we tried it anyway and it worked just fine.  Now I'm not sure how long it will work so I'll hold onto the new card to activate if I ever need to...but I'm hoping they don't deactivate my old card.

For May I'll be hitting Rite-Aid a little more than in April, and I've already made 2 trips this Rebate Period.
Not sure how lucrative the shopping trips will be since the Wellness coupons they are releasing are pretty lame....sorry Rite-Aid, but $1.00 off a $10.00 cosmetic or vitamin or allergy, etc. purchase is NOT a good coupon!  (For instance....to use a $1/$10 allergy Q I would have to buy THREE 24 ct. Benadryls-with Wellness Discount they cost me $4.39 ea., so 3 come to $13.17.  $1 measly dollar off is NOT a very good deal.
Bring back the old Wellness coupons!!

Just from this year's rebates I have $51.60 in accumulated Gift Card credits left.

Plus BIL is STILL Waiting on his P&G $35 Prepaid Visa that he requested on 2/15!....the last email Customer Service sent him said to give it 4-6 MORE WEEKS from the date of that email!  It could very well arrive mid-JUNE and that would make it 4 MONTHS since it was requested, to receive the thing.   All the while there are all these things he could be getting for cheap or free with that $35 he is due.
Can you tell the BIL is NOT happy with Rite-Aid at this moment?!?

Anyway, it looks to be a good Rite-Aid month in May for me.
I just wish the Wellness Qs were better. ;-)

So how did you do at Rite-Aid last Rebate Period?  Did you get some good buys?  Tell us!

TOTAL of CASH Rebates........................$159.33
TOTAL OOP After  Rebates....................$38.86
TOTAL Savings of..................................92.40%

This closes out the April spending.

THOUGHTS & COMMENTS for this month-
Starting with a $250 food/toiletries budget we not only kept under that amount before the rebates were figured in, but after rebates we spent a mere $38.86 of the budgeted amount for the month!  And that is with my infamous Lobster Splurge too.
I spent most of the month staying out of the stores and had DH pick up items as needed since I was injured for part of the month and couldn't drive.  His shopping for me did NOT involve using sales and coupons for the most part, thus even though we spent almost $200 OOP initially, not alot of coupons were used or items bought on sale, thus the lower savings ratio overall.

What's ahead for May 2010.....

The May 2010 Food/Toiletries Budget is set at $300 cash out of pocket.  Any rebates received this month will offset this OOP spending.  Since the rebating has slowed to a crawl I don't see much coming in for May to throw at the food bills. (IE; My Rite-Aid SCR check is going from $100 in April to $8 in May.) I have raised the budget by $50 because #1 son returns from college next wekend, so I'll have more mouths to feed=more food spending in May.  Even with that adjustment, it will take a lot of self-control to keep within budget this month!  I did very little shopping really in April and got out of the coupon groove so I have my work cut out for me for May.

With a quarter of the year behind us, we have averaged $165.60 per MONTH on food/toiletries spending for 2010 for a family of 4 adults/teens.

For someone who use to....
*spend $500 and up per MONTH before I stockpiled, shopped to the sales and used coupons on a regular basis
*had less food/toiletries to show for it
*we ate a lot more store brands
*we ate a lot more of unhealthier type foods
...this THRILLS ME!

How did you do in April with your Food Budget?  Leave a comment or link to your post and let us hear!  By sharing our struggles and efforts we can help each other stick to our budgets and learn to be better guardians of our resources.

Rite-Aid on Friday....Had to Use It or Lose It!

So, I was FORCED to go to Rite-Aid on Friday.
Why you ask?
Because my GIFT OF SAVINGS Christmas Gift Certificate expires April 30...Friday.
No way I was going to let $20 expire even if going out Friday
was the last thing I wanted to do!

So I gathered up some couponage I might use and headed up with #2 son & his friend in tow.
Oh great....just what I need....baggage.lol

I had wanted to get a market umbrella for the deck patio set since ours bit the dust a couple of years ago.  It would be nice to be able to sit out and eat there without the sun blasting down on you in the heat of summer.  So with the $20 Cert., my 20% discount and a $5 off a $20 purchased, I'd only have to pay zero or even be negative money and have to add something to the order.
Free umbrella.....NICE!

But alas, there was not a market umbrella in the joint, just some beach umbrellas that were NOT going to cut it.

So the plan got thrown overboard and we went hunting the aisles for things to buy.......

I had a scenarios just about worked out when #2 son comes over pleading with me to advance him allowance $ so he could buy a watch.
So we went and inspected his potential purchase and I deemed it worthy of purchase for $19.99.
My wheels in my brain set to working and suddenly there were TWO scenarios to complete.

I took 2 things from my initial scenarios and added them to the watch purchase so we could use another $5 off $20 Purchase Q.

2 x Dove Shampoo on sale $3=$6.00  Used 2 x $2/1 Dove 'Poo IPQ -$4.00
1 x Watch=$19.99  My wellness discount applied -$4.00 **Not Pictured**
$25.99-$8 Qs=$17.99
Minus $5 off $20 purchase RAQ=$12.99+.78¢ tax=$13.77 OOP

Once #2 son pays me back for the watch, my total here is .50¢ overage.
($16.77-1/2 of the $5 off Q=$14.27 he owes for the watch).

I also qualified for $3.00 in SCR on the Dove 'Poo purchase, giving me $3.50 in overage so far after the SCR.

Then I did transaction #2 to use my $20 Gift Cert.....

4 x Ban Deodorant on sale BOGO50%($5.68 per 2 deos)=$11.36
2 x Benadryl on sale $4.39=$8.78 with wellness disc.
1 Schick Hydro Razor=$7.99 with wellness disc.
1 x Paper Lanterns with wellness disc.=$7.99
2 x Snickers on sale=$1.00
1 x Trident gum=$1.03 with wellness disc.
SubTotal...$38.15

Coupons Used
1 x $5 off $20 Purchase AdPerks Q=$5.00
4 x $1/1 Ban ManuQ=$4.00
1 x $5/2 Benadryl ManuQ=$5.00
2 x $2/1 any cough, cold, allergy OTC item Wellness Q=$4.00
1 x $20 Gift Cert=$20.00
Coupon Total....$38.00

$38.15-$38.00=$.15 OOP

I totally didn't figure in the 20% wellness discount on a couple of things so I was $2 short of using my last $2/1 Q and had to add the candy and gum....and the gum got another wellness disc. to boot!
All in all, this one came out very nicely.

SCR qualified for in Transaction #2....
Schick Hydro Razor=$6.00
Ban Deodorants=$10.00
Total...$16.00 in SCRs and another $8.78 toward qualifying for the $25 Allergy SCR(WYB $50 of Allergy products).

**When I got home I discovered 2 of the Ban Deos I purchased were the wrong type.  I hiked back Saturday morning and exhanged those 2 for the correct ones so I will get my $10 SCR for buying 4 Ban Deos...'-)

Grand total for the day.....
I am OOP  negative .35¢ today buying all this(when #2 son pays me back) and I am getting back $19.00 in SCRs.

I may have been laying low on Rite-Aid shopping in April but I am BACK with a vengeance!lol

Wanna Trade?

So, would you like to trade days with me?
Let me fill you in on what days are like here.
Take my Thursday for instance.....

I got up after being serenaded for 2 HOURS straight by the dog with the largest case of separation anxiety known to man or beast.  This dog will howl non-stop if someone is not physically in the same room with him.  I can be in the dining room with the gate across(as the dogs are NOT allowed in there)with this dog not 2 feet away from me in the kitchen and he's STARING a whole through my head.  But because that gate is there, he will whine and whimper and then start the howling hysterics because he can't GET TO ME!
I am NOT an early riser, therefore once the kids and DH are out the door I am not downstairs with the hounds yet, so I get sung to every morning.  It is ANNOYING as hell but after so many years, I can block it out and sleep right through it.

So I'm up and dragging around.  Check the email, write a blog post to put up later in the day and then I do any eBay emailing/listing/photoing/packing/shipping I need to do.  Next is checking for deals on other deal blogs and check out what my favorite bloggy friends are up to.

I had a 1st class international package to mail yesterday so I was FORCED to go to the PO.  I like my PO, really I do.  It's a teeny tiny town and I am on a first name basis with the clerk Pete.  Pete is great and lifts my spirits when I get to chat with him.  I have been known to bring him a cup of Dunkin' Donuts java on occasion....hey, you want good service it helps to grease the wheels. ;-)
We use to have 2 clerks but Jim retired and the PO is hemorrhaging money so they are NOT replacing Jim.
Poor Pete....
So anyway I go in with my package and get in line.  Some guy gets in line behind me a bit afterwards.  Suddenly this guy is screaming into my ear!  Well, HE thought he was screaming into his phone, but HE was so close and within my 'personal space zone' and at the right height that his shouting went right past his phone and into my left ear.
"Yes, this is XXXX  returning your call. I can be reached at XXXX.  Please call me back when you get this message."
It's a small room at our PO and this asshole could have waited until he got back into his car that leave that message, dontcha think?
Geez.....
So I got to turn around and give him the look while I waited for the ringing in my ear to subside.
The woman in front of me in line(an older woman with a dour look on her face)shot a look back at old "Can you hear me now? Guy" too.  Then she turned around, and also invaded my personal space zone, and tugged on his arm.  I thought for a minute old granny was going to give him "what for" but she then said, "Aren't you Aunt XXX's son?....Don't you know my mother XXX?"
Turns out these 2 folks are some distant cousins or something.  I'm sorry I can't provide you with the play by play genealogy but I didn't take notes as they went on and on and on! figuring out just how they were related.  Seems their mothers were sisters tho from what I could tell as they shouted back and forth over me.  Then when they got to granny's mother I got to hear all about her 90 yr old mother's health issues....from the catheter to the ostomy bag to the other non-essential organ removable surgeries to needing skilled nursing care 24/7 and she was now living with granny lady and she has to have one of those monitor things on her when she leaves the house in case something happens to mom when she steps out to run errands.  And then we got to hear about how she retired finally from her job and then all these older relatives started getting sick and she is worn out from caring for them all.  Geez lady, can't you say NO to anybody??
It seemed like a year and a day but granny finally got her turn and left and I got my package mailed.

So I then get to have the highlight of my day.....going to the local grocery store and getting free dog food with my coupons!  I was in and out in 10 minutes.  Now why couldn't that part of my day take longer instead?

I come home and deal with putting the dogs out to do their 'business' and go pack some more packages to mail tomorrow.
As I'm rocking out to some music turned up VERY loudly I hear dogs barking in the distance.  That's weird I think because they sound like OUR dogs but our dogs are in the den sleeping.
Nope....
The wind had blown the backdoor open and all 3 dogs had make a break for it.  Cherry our female beagle(our runner-who loves being outside and will take EVERY opportunity you give her to runaway)was standing on the deck barking at the now totally out of sight other two dogs.    So I had 2 loose dogs to NOT chase....no, I don't run after dogs anymore.
Peanut, our bagel(bassett/beagle mix)is all about food.  He use to run like a beagle but now at his age he likes napping and eating more(kind of like me).  I took a bog of dog biscuits outside and walked around the yard shaking it and calling his name.  About 20 mins. later he appeared in the next door neighbor's yard racing around like a maniac.  He saw me and heard "Cookies" and he came running.  Of course, we have a small netting fence between the yards(so that their black lab doesn't come over here and poop when they let him loose in their yard), so Peanut ran to the fence and then along it up to the front yard where he could get around it.
But then it didn't appear back in the backyard.  So I walked to the front door and he was standing and barking at the closed front door......he is not the brightest crayon in the dog box, is he?

The chihuahua was still MIA.  She will snarl and bark and stand at the edge of the deck if she sees someone or something move but she rarely leaves the deck and attacks anything because she is all bark.  But I guess Peanut's leaving gave her the courage to bolt.
I got a phone call a bit later from #2 son's friend's adult brother that he had her in his yard up the street so I sent #2 son up there to retrieve her(she is HIS dog anyway)when he got off the bus from school.

So my afternoon was full of fun and mayhem.

Then the other highlight of my day was attending the school's band and chorus concert.

#2 son is in both the middle school and high school bands(tho he's in middle school because he is more advanced and was in the high school marching band, he gets to be in both this year) and daughter is in the Chorus.  It was nice to see them both perform but every time we go to one of these I think I am going to have a stroke!
Why?
Because of the rudeness and total lack of consideration among the parents in the audience.
If their kid is performing they are standing in the aisles or climbing over the seats with some bigass camera trying to get the perfect shot of  "their precious Tiffany".  They are blocking the view of everyone around them who is trying to WATCH the performance too.  I watched one guy last night prop himself up on 2 seats so he was almost as tall as if he had stood up, blocked the sightlines for about 5 people behind him for an entire set of numbers.  He never WATCHED the show that whole time his kid was performing.  He had his face in his viewfinder clicking on shots and then reviewing them to see if it was a shot worth saving.
And if their kids are NOT performing at the moment the parents talk incessantly while other kids are performing.  At the winter performance DH actually turned around and laid someone out for this kind of rudeness....not that it helped.
The other thing is people will get up and leave when their kid is done performing so the kids who go last have barely anyone left in the audience.
And people who get up and walk around DURING a piece....for gosh sakes, can't you hold still and do your moving BETWEEN performances??!
And then there are the parents who come in late. ARGH!  If you can't bother to show up on time(they do post the time it starts you know!), then have the courtesy to stand in the back(and NOT talk!)and wait until a piece is over and THEN walk down the aisle and find a seat in the 3rd row.
Finally, cell phones.....hello?!?!
Can you untether yourself from that piece of plastic for 1 hour people?  And if you can't please turn off the ringer or buzzer or whatever you have it set on.

Finally it was home to answer more eBay moron questions like......

*How much to ship this to Austria if you take it out of the box.  "Well, let's see....if I take it out of the box to throw it into a padded envie to verify the shipping for you, it will no longer be new and sealed in the box and if you end up not buying it after all that, I'll be left with something I can get even LESS money for than when it WAS new and sealed in the box."

*Is this the largest Iron Giant......do you know if they made a bigger one?  This is the type of ? I call the "fishing expedition".  They are not interested in buying your item....they either have one to sell to or they need this information for some other reason and figure they will bother you for the info rather than go look it up for themselves.

*I am interested in buying your xxxx but will you take $xx instead of $xxx?  "Dear buyer, Do I look like a flea market?"

*Will you take $xx for your item XXXX. "Sorry but that price is more than a 30% discount on the listing price.  If I wanted to give it away(after eBay and Paypal fees), I would just give it to charity now."

*I also have gotten 4 QTS emails so far from one guy about one item I have listed.  He is truly pestering me with every  possible question he can come up with about this item and some of it I can't answer since I am not omniscient.  I do think he will eventually buy the item but he is going to make me jump through all the hoops and spend an inordinate amount of time and energy on this sale.....sigh.....

And to top this day off, I found out on Thursday that we are going to have some "Relative Problems".  Sorry but I can't go into this whole other area of my life but I think there are some family members who actually read this blog sometimes so I can't dish about any of the juicy hilarity that would be our families.
It's killing me but I can't....lol

Between all this I had to make dinner and make sure laundry was done so the kids had performance clothing to wear(I even had to IRON A SHIRT...ack!).

So that was my day yesterday in a nutshell.
Now do you wanna trade??

This is Why.....

This is why I am NOT allowed to go to yard sales anymore......

Yes folks, I unearthed these fine beauties while going through the eBay stuff.  As I vaguely recall I procured these finely crafted**ahem** salad tossing implements at a garage sale about.....8 yrs. ago.
I know you are bummed out because I didn't take a close-up photo so you can see the "Florida" imprinted in gold on the brown handles!

And THIS is why I am no longer encouraged to go browse the aisles at Salvation Army when we drop off a load of stuff.....
Yes my friends, that is an ashtray.....with alligators circling it(or maybe they are crocodiles since they are brown?).
No one here smokes and I haven't been to Florida in 40 years.  I seriously bought this to display in my home.

I do think I am an undiagnosed schizophrenic.  I must be!
My whole life I have bought stuff that I thought was neato, only to change personalities later and ask myself, "WHAT was I thinking!?"
I've done it with kitchy stuff like this...shabby chic stuff......modern stuff.........victorian stuff.....country stuff.......and on and on.

At least I can say I never pay alot for things...lol

More April Donations....Clutter G-O-N-E!

Here is what is leaving the house this week.....

More goodies we hauled up from the basement--
* 2 Pewter Mr. Spock Figurines...poor Mr. Spock no one on eBay is loving on him anymore

* 1 Grinch Ceramic Cookie Jar....cute but very limited as a decorative item since if you put this out on your kitchen counter all year people will begin to wonder about your sanity.  Perhaps I should have marketed it toward those people who keep their Christmas lights up all year?

* 1 more Crinkle Claus house....I think I am all 'crinkled' out now.

* 3 assorted Football Stadium Replicas-Penn State Beaver Stadium/Rose Bowl UCLA Stadium/Candlestick Park....these are actually quite nice on real wood bases, but because of the weight nobody wants to pay anything for them once you add on the shipping costs.

2 used items....
* a Beagle Gum Ball Bank....#2 son's cast-off

* a Small Soldiers Activity Case with colored pencils, stamp pads, etc.....#1 son's cast-off

Then the new stuff....
* 3 Dept. 56 Christmas ornaments-replicas of different light-up houses done as ornaments...while the full sized light-up houses still sell ok, the ornies not so much.

* 2 Hot Wheels LE Christmas Cars with Surfing Santa....even the Limited Edition Hot Wheels market has bottomed out

* 2 boxes of Star Trek TNG Tv Show Cards-Season 4....again, not much Star Trek love out there anymore.

* 1 box of Star Trek Movie Cards.....movie, tv series....no love for either.  They are still mad for ST down in Australia but the weight to ship=not selling them.

*1 Boyds Pig.....cute OLD boyd's critter but it has a stain and I don't feel like spending an hour cleaning it so I make .79¢ on it after fees.

* 2 set of Ty Teenie Beanies 1998.....can't sell if for enough to buy me something off the $1 menu.

* 1 miniature Lionel Train Lunchbox tin....the only thing selling in Lionel is the old trains.  I fear this is one of the areas where the collectors are too old to spend their money on toys from their childhood.  They need that social security check to eat. lol

* 1 Limoge type porcelain trinket box in the shape of a beer mug....do NOT ask me why I bought this!

*1 Glinda the Good Witch from the Wizard of Oz Musical Figure.....not sure why I never was able to sell this....it's cute and WOZ and Glinda are still collectible.

* 1 Set of Stationery with Envelopes.....A personal item of mine but I have way too much stationery.  I have never been able to sell paper ephemera on eBay.

* 1 Small Soldiers Cassette Player and PA System w/microphone....a cool toy and Small Soldiers is still highly collectible in Europe but this is heavy so the shipping is an "ouchy".

Today's total....25 items.
Grand Total to date....96 items to Sallie's.
Add 78 items to the Food Bank=174 items G-O-N-E!

2 out of 3....

Remember this guy's photo the other day-and my messy desk?....
Frances got 2 of the 3 things you should never do to a Gremlin correct--feed them after midnight & get them wet.
The 3rd thing was to keep them out of the light.
It must be true because it's all written inside that Gremlins hang tag still attached to his arm.

I know this vital information was keeping you all up nights.
I can to go take my nap now with a clear conscience that I am longer responsible for anymore sleepless evenings.

That is all.

PS-It's 30 something degrees here and it was snowing 2 hours ago........ack!

Move Your Money...Send a Message!

As the old saying goes....I trust banks as far as I can throw one.

And with the latest revelations about Goldman Sachs knowingly and purposefully selling it's clients losing investments so that they could reap profits on their clients losses, Wall St. is on my sh** list too.

I'll state for the record that I have my money in a local bank. Our joint money is still in an evil monstrously large bank. I'll be working on DH to move at least some of it into a credit union this year.

I think everyone in America should vote with their money.  Not spending the money but just putting it elsewhere out of reach of the big banks.  Why give these TOO BIG TO FAIL Behemoths the capital to make more money off of your deposits?  They'll just spend it on paying lobbyists to put members of Congress in their back pockets.
