One of Those Weeks

Have you ever had one of those weeks?
You know.....the ones were you have too much to do and when you get one thing done THREE MORE things pop up that you have to take care of?

That's how my week is going.
Today I had 6 items on my To-Do TODAY list.
Then it turned into 8 items on the list.
And as of 4pm I have only gotten to 4 of them.
And one of those 4 things was to post something on the blog, and THIS is the sorry excuse for a post, so really I have only accomplished 3 things on the list.

And then I got the mail and there's another car insurance bill in it(ALREADY AGAIN!?!?....didn't I just pay that?!).
Along with that came a notice from College Boy's school about the school going to a FIT(freeze individualized tuition)per-credit model Fall of 2016.  So his tuition will increase another 3% for his junior year and then they are freezing the rate we pay until he gets his degree.  AND we get the grand honor of also paying a "Freeze Fee" every year.  In the end, we'll end up paying more on a per-credit basis system even though they are freezing the rate until he graduates as opposed to just paying per term like we do now(no matter how many credits he earns per term)WITH the projected annual tuition hike.
Of course this freeze only applies to tuition and not the exorbitant amount they rake us over the coals each year in room and board charges.
That will continue to go up yearly.
Gee?  Maybe I should do a happy dance??

As someone I know well(you know who you are!) likes to remark in situations like this, "Those Fuckers!"

So with that and my crappy less than pleasant state of mind at the moment, I am off to wield a very sharp knife and make an apple pie.
Then I get to go back to the drugstore and will try NOT to mow down anybody. 8-P

I Need A Little Christmas

What a busy day Saturday was!
I am pooped.
Going to Rite-Aid(to rebuy cookie mix...oy!), Christmas shopping with Hubs(2 places and then I said, "Enough!"), the Grocery store(for the 3rd time this week!), writing and posting eBay listings, packing eBay items that sold, dealing with eBay Deadbeats(already?!), filing receipts, putting away all this stuff I've "bought" at Rite-Aid lately, straightening the garage stockpile, dealing with the dogs and the teens.
I was so ready to put my feet up, pop open a Woodchuck Hard Cider and watch a little tv.  Nothing on but Suze Orman(those "Can I Afford It?" Segment people are a hoot!).

Where did the day go?

And as for Christmas here?
Well all I can say is that the tree is up and is no longer 'totally' nekkid......

Perhaps some ornaments will make an appearance soon.  Not that anyone other than Hubs and I even care to decorate the thing.
If Santa doesn't see the youngins around here scare up a little more enthusiasm than they are displaying now, he might just take a pass at our house this year.

I'll be breaking out the fruitcake tomorrow.
I have self-diagnosed myself and the result is that I am suffering from a candied fruit and nut deficiency.

That and this clip should get me right......

Lucy is no Angela Lansbury but it will have to do. ;-)

In The Weeds....

Literally and figuratively in the weeds here!

That's why I haven't posted lately.
#2 son home from school still....it's deer hunting season in PA so they had off on Monday and today is Parent/Teacher conferences.
But he's had pitt orchestra rehearsals and orthodontist appointment.
Plus I am dealing with Daughter's medical issues and medical insurance provider long distance from college which makes me want to spit nails!
And the phone rang 23 times yesterday.....have I mentioned how much I detest talking on the phone lately?
And the eBay screwball buyers have come out of the woodwork and I am behind on getting things listed because I have been packing and shipping like a wild woman and have no time left for listing.
I haven't even done a menu for this week...ack!
And I am so tired I actually drank a cup of coffee at the Orthodontist's office....it was free so what the hell, right?lol

And the weather.....can I just say that the weather is crazy lately?
It's 60 degrees outside...it was 62 yesterday.
This is northern PA.....this is late November....WTF?!?!
It should be 25 degrees and snowing.
It's like in 2007 when it was 70 degrees and we had a tornado on Dec. 1st.
Wacky weather.......

My shrubbery is so confused.
Here is what my forsythia bush is doing.....

It's BLOOMING!
Likewise my Magnolia tree and the massive Rhododendron bush have budded out because they think Spring is here!
Sigh........

If this keeps up we'll need to mow the lawn again this weekend......in December. lolol

I'll be back later after I get something accomplished.

Monday....And Here Comes Another Week!

Oh, goody, it's Monday!
I got up early again today and it's just going downhill from there.lol
I won't bore you with my aches and pains but let me say it's hell getting old. ;-)
At least I have #1 son here to move the leftover boxes of stuff from the Flea Market yesterday to storage for the time being.
More on the Flea Market later when I get time to sit and ponder on the experience.....for now I'll just say that sunburn in not fun! ;-)

Now that my car is empty I need to wake #1 son up so we can get to the Bread Outlet(didn't I JUST GO THERE?!?!)since these kids seem to be addicted to bread lately and then we get to go to Lowe's for some gardening supplies to I can FINALLY get my garden going....yeah!
Later in the week, when the rain finally stops, #1 son can help me get it planted.
But first it's a trip to stand in line at the PO because though Paypal let me print the label with postage for this package I need to mail I need to go fill out a customs form since it's going to an APO/FPO, so 'technically' it's an overseas package though it's domestic/military rates.  Oh goody.....

The house is a mess, the laundry is creeping into the hallway, I have no meal plan for the week, children making demands on me and my time and being absolutely NO HELP,  having to sort out the flea market leftovers, tons of stuff ready for eBay that I have to take photos of and actually LIST THEM if I want them to sell, a garage to clean and organize and I have to prepare for a week long visit from relatives.  Throw in DH is going to be out of town part of this week & I might be taking a quick trip to VA for a few days and I am quickly going into sensory overload!
EGADS!
At least I have tons of cleaning products and toilet paper to clean up the mess here when my head explodes....and it just might do that....explode I mean.....

So tune in later.  I'll be posting another set of goodies for the BORING BOX GIVEAWAY since I'm getting tired of Marilyn's entries on the current post for it.LOLOL
And hopefully if my head stays intact, I'll have a post on the flea market later tonight.

Happy Happy Monday!!
Yeah right.....

Thank Goodness this Week is Over!

Have you ever had one of those weeks where, when it was over, all you could do was say, "Thank the Lord the week is over and I survived!"?

That's how my week was.
Don't get me wrong, nothing bad happened this week, that's not why I am thankful that it's over.
It was just.....so.....so.....FULL!
And tiring.

It was one thing after another, ALL Week!

First the 2 oldest kids came home from their summer jobs and the youngest finished Band Camp, so all 3 were hanging around the house all week.
3 Teenagers with little to NO motivation to lift a finger around the house.
3 more mess makers but no mess cleaner-uppers.

And the older two were so kind to bring me back weeks upon weeks of dirty LAUNDRY.
A lot of it being WET Dirty Laundry!!
Smelly, Earthy, Dirty and Twigs and Blades of Grass and Leaves and Tree Bark in the bag with the wet clothing Laundry.
Ugh.

And Hubby had off all week from work. And working around his agenda for the week.
And 3 Dogs in the house because it was too hot for them to be outside for very long.

Everyone under foot!
So it was non-stop action and bedlam around here.

And I am still trying to organizing the stockpile out in the garage.

And the weather was kicked up a notch this week to H-O-T!
I don't tolerate or move very fast when it's Hot.....
So I could be found in the swimming pool out back a lot of the time this past week and nothing much got accomplished around here that involved physical labor.....except laundry.

And I wanted to have a date with hubby during the week.

And getting #1 son ready to go off to college this week.

And then, the heat kicked the Garden into Overdrive!
I have cooked yellow squash every which way known to man and am STILL DROWNING in a Sea of Yellow Produce!!
I swear when it's quiet at 2 am. I can hear the vegetables growing while I lay awake in bed trying to think of a new way to use squash and cukes.

And to top it all off, there were just so many good deals this past week!
I had Price Chopper OYNO Cats to use.
The Acme OYNO Cats to use.
There were expiring Register Rewards from WAGS.
Then the Extra Care Bucks from CVS.
Add to all this, another Round of Double Coupons at KMart= Loads of Free or very Inexpensive Things we need or can use or can donate!

Seriously, just too many to get to everything in time....especially since it was H-O-T and I couldn't move fast enough in the heat to cram it all into my schedule.

How much can one gal be expected to do in a mere week....in this heat!?!?

And then there were blog posts to write. I just can't go neglecting my readers due to my hectic life, right? I'd get on the computer at night and couldn't do anything beyond reading mail and just surfing around.
To-Do Lists swirled around in my head and wouldn't let any original thoughts to blog about enter.

At some point this week, I actually looked at the interior of my car.
Here is what I saw.

That backseat.....
The Cargo net area between the front seats.....

A mound of coupons sitting on the passenger seat and school supplies starting to take over the floor in the front of the car.....

This is the car of someone who hasn't said no to a deal this week, even though she has no time or energy left.

This is when I realized I needed to give myself permission to NOT Get to some of the deals & chores. It hurt at first, like quickly ripping a band-aid off a cut, to let go of the idea that I had to do all the deals this week. But after awhile, I felt ok with it.

There will always be more Deals next week or next month.
Just like there will always be more laundry to do next week or next month.

Since I am so well stocked on most everything, I may take a grocery shopping Sabbatical in Sept.
No stocking up.
At ALL!
On ANYTHING!!
No matter how good the deal.

I am just so tired, like my beagle girl Cherry....

And I need the time this Sept. for my canning/freezing/preserving the garden/farm produce.
Harvest time is labor intensive and I can't be running around hounding for the grocery/HBA deals while the veggies are coming in.
Canning Season is here and it's time to shift the focus onto the local produce and preserving it for the coming year.

As so many Southern ladies before me have done, I may "take to my bed for a month" once Harvest Season is over. It may take me that long to recover from my exhaustion.

What's been happening in your little piece of the world lately?

Where'd Sluggy go? Too Much Life/No Time to Blog

I realize I have been MIA online lately. Sorry if I haven't been around much to entertain ya'll but "Life Happened" this week.

At least I've been MIA for mostly good reasons.

Monday I threw a lunch party for #1 son's graduation with all the relatives that could make it to PA.....that would be all of hubby's siblings & the nephew. Entertaining and cooking up a storm, a quick change of clothes afterwards & then it was off to the Arena for "the walking".
The ceremony was short and sweet surprisingly.

And the rain held off afterwards to take a few pictures outside.

And hubby happened to time driving by the big electronic sign at the Arena on the way home, at just the right moment for me to snap this photo.
Afterwards was some cake back at the house for all, and the opening of some envelopes of cards with cash for the graduate.

Then he was off to the Senior Class Party at the High School. They have a "Lock-In". It's a chaperoned all-night party for the seniors....our school districts answer to keeping the kids off the roads and off the alcohol & drugs for the night. #1 son dragged his carcass home at 6am amid a raging thuderstorm/lightning storm. He pronounced the party amazing and proceeded to fall into his bed for the next 6 hours.

So excuse me if Meal Planning Monday didn't happen here. Between Monday's festivities and having a relative staying with us for the whole week and school letting out today for the other kids, plus daughter got some of her braces off today which meant TWO trips to the Orthodontist today, I've been "winging it" in every way!lol

I've also got RRs expiring today!, IP & ManU Qs expiring today & I need to hit the local grocery store specials tonight as they also expire today.

And to top that all off.....DOUBLE COUPONS again at K-MART!

What's a Coupon Goddess to do??lol

I had wanted to take a donation up to the Food Bank and the free Medical Clinic this week, but that won't be happening because there just isn't enough time in my week.

And for those of you who enjoy my "humourous" life, there is yet another "drama" in the works as I type. All I can say now is, "WHY ME!?!?"

More on that later as the story develops....

So what is everyone else up to this week?
