Who Won the Giveaway??

There were 49 valid entries.  I had Hubs use Random dotorg to generate the winning entry number/comment.

And the winner is........

Sam!

You said caffeine-and chocolate so you knew I had to enter. I hope you though just enjoy this special time in your son's life, and with your family.

Congratulations Sam.  Please email me your mailing address and I'll get this all out to you.

Though SAM won I did like Angie's last entry.......

"I'm trying to stretch my March Budget by winning this February Give Away! :) Thank you! --Angie O" loloz  You're a genius Angie. ;-)

Thanks for playing along and I am on the fence about doing a March Giveaway as we are traveling out West in March and I really don't want to have to keep track of a giveaway then.

What so you, potential players??

Frugal Friday.........the February 25th Edition

So here are a few of the frugal-ish things that happened here this past week.......

*   No food waste.  I didn't cook much last week as we were leaving for a few days for the wedding so we ate leftovers and just fended for ourselves a lot.  Free hotel breakfasts for 2 mornings, free wedding meal.  Let's not count the rehearsal dinner we shelled out for or the suitcase of White Castle burger my kids talked me into paying for on Saturday night. ;-)

*  I used an old Chili's gift card to buy Hubs,
Ex-CB and I lunch on the way to NJ on Saturday so no OOP spent.  Ex-CB covered the tip.

*  I bought all  this at various Rite-Aids on Sunday and Thursday.......

Got  $5 in Ibotta rebates on the Max Freeze and Mitchum and spent BC on everything.

Bought this stuff at R-A South of town.  Nothing spent OOP and $6 in BC earned, $3 earned at Swag Bucks(Baby Ruths)and $11.75 earned through Ibotta($8 Max Freeze, $1.50 Honest, $2 Manuka, .25¢ Quaker).

I bought this stuff at my R-A.  For some reason a $2 ManuQ didn't come off and the register wouldn't take my BC to pay so I had to use a gift card.  I earned $13 in BC($3 dry skin, $3 Nivea, $1 Manuka, $5 Honest spent $15).
I earned $9.50 on Ibotta.  I also got a $1 post coupon on the Caress(forgot to use it).

* I bought all this stuff for Ibotta rebates on a trip to Walmart on Thursday....

Not pictured is a loaf of Nature's Own bread, 2 different bags of Back to the Roots Soils, a pack of BTTR seeds and a lb. of Challenge Butter.
The beans qualified for 2 rebates as did the Maxwell House coffee.  The Soft Soap refills were on clearance for $1 and gave me $2 each in Ibotta rebates so better than free,=.
The only items not Ibotta rebates was the kids Dove items.  That was a Shop Kick deal.

Spent $28.55 after coupons and free $25 gift card and earned back $34.38 back in reg. rebates and bonuses.

The Shop Kick items cost me $1.78 total after kicks.

*  I found some clearance deals at Walmart when I went to do my Ibotta haul as well.......

The 8 Nestle morsels and Fudge Kits were .50¢ each,  the Rempure rose body wash was $3.55(Rose scent is my Achilles tendon), the 2 immunity packs were $2 each, the Bic razors were -.04¢ after coupons and the probiotics were $1.
Not a bad haul overall.

*  I received 3 J&J gift cards in the mail totaling $25.......

Still waiting on that $50 R-A gift card corporate is supposedly mailing to me.  It's been 4 weeks almost and their HQ is a 2 hour drive from here.  By now I could have
walked there and gotten it in person!!!

*  I got lots of freebies at the hotel where the wedding was held..............

From mints to little bottles of toiletries to K-pods to tea bags and creamer packets to Kleeex to Tylenol to pens and notepads.  Even a dishwasher pod. lol

I also got some free sodas and water.......

*  I also got some extra sodas from the rehearsal dinner...

More on that later. 8-)

*   I found money!

I found a penny and a quarter at Walmart on Friday.

I found 3 pennies at the Burger King drive thru also on Friday.
I got .50¢ from my daughter before she flew home as she doesn't "use" money.
Silly Rabbit!

2  pennies and a crusty dime in the parking lot on Tuesday on the sidewalk outside of Rite-Aid.
And 2 pennies in Aldi and a quarter from an abandoned shopping cart in the parking lot on Thursday.

Big money this past week!+

Total Found in last Week...... $1.18
Total Found This Year......$3.27

That's about all I've got for this past week.

Let's not even talk about the money spent this past weekend in Jersey!!(rehearsal dinner, gas, hotel, bar drinks though I am pretty good at getting men to buy me drinks lol, late night snacks, booking trips, paying to Kennel dogs, etc.

Any frugal wins in your neck of the woods?  Let's hear all about them!

And have a good weekend and stay warm!

Frugal Friday....the February 18th Edition on February 23rd

So here are a few of the frugal-ish things that happened here this past week.......

*   No food waste so far. ;-)  We've got lots of leftovers this week to use up or repurpose.

*  I found some clearance deals at Walmart when I went to do my Ibotta haul........

3 x 5 lb bags of rice .50¢ a bag!
1 x 1 box of Cascadian Farms cereal for .50¢
2 x bottles of maple syrup for .50¢ a bottle
2 x frozen boxes of broccoli/carrots/red taters to roast for .50¢ a box *not pictured*
$4 total for all that!

* I bought all this stuff on a trip to Walmart on Wednesday....

Spent $19.57 and earned back $29.78 back in reg. rebates and bonuses(bonus including the Rite-Aid below).

*  I did 3 Rite-Aid transactions this week utilizing BC, Catalinas and coupons but don't have any photos of it all yet.  It was a very small haul and some of it was today so won't appear until next week's FF post.

Here's most of Wednesday's haul, except for a free Air Wick after Q kit and 2 Bic Silky Touch razor packs that didn't make it into the photo.  Nothing spent OOP, used Bonus Cash and I earned back $6.70(of the $29.78 mentioned above)on Ibotta for it all.

*  I got $1 back for a post coupon at R-A on Wednesday.

Still waiting on that $50 R-A gift card corporate is supposedly mailing to me.  It's been 3 weeks almost and their HQ is a 2 hour drive from here so I suspect I'll have to raise hell some more over it.

*   I found money!

A penny found somewhere on Saturday the 12th?

A penny on Wednesday on the sidewalk outside of Rite-Aid.

Another penny in the coin return of the self-checkout machine I used at Walmart later on Wednesday.

3 whole cents this past week....woot! lol

Total Found in last Week...... .03¢
Total Found This Year......$2.09

That's about all I've got for this past week.

Any frugal wins in your neck of the woods?  Let's hear all about them!

And have a good weekend and stay warm!

This Week on the Dining Table

The "So Busy It's Overwhelming" Edition...

Less than 1 week to the wedding.  I have to rehem my dress, find my mother's broach to wear, go over to Jersey Wednesday to help with stuff and practice dancing with my son(had to even teach him the box step).  All the while planning a trip in March to Lousiana to see my DD and SIL then flying to Phoenix and more traveling.

Just breath Sluggy, breath....

Onward to the meal planning!

Here's what was planned......
1. Sunday--Bought a bucket of KFC while out
2. Monday--Leftover KFC
3. Tuesday--Chicken Marsala w/Mushrooms, Veggie TBD, Mashed Potatoes
4. Wednesday--Leftovers or Copycat Bob Evans Salad
5. Thursday--Butternut Squash Ravioli w/Béchamel, Salad
6.  Friday--Homemade flatbread Pizza, Veggie TBD
7. Saturday--Leftovers

And here's what actually happened........
1. Sunday--Bought a bucket of KFC while out
2. Monday--Leftover KFC
3. Tuesday--Chicken Marsala w/Mushrooms, Green Beans, Garlic Mashed Potatoes
4. Wednesday--Leftovers or Copycat Bob Evans Salad
5. Thursday--Butternut Squash Ravioli w/Béchamel, Salad
6.  Friday--Fend for Yourself
7. Saturday--Healthy Choice Turkey TV Dinner

The Squash Ravioli finally happened so the flatbread pizza moves to this week.  I had getting long in the tooth mushrooms so that prompted the Chicken Marsala meal this past week.  I used the last of the Bob Evans dressing on a salad this past Wednesday(but didn't top it with grilled chicken strips).  The beginning of the week was heavy on chicken so this week I'll concentrate on other proteins.

What got put into the freezer last week....
*  a box of Super Pretzel
*  a package of gyoza dumplings

What got taken out of the freezer and used...
*  a package of Chicken Breast
*  a package of Green Beans
*  a package of Butternut Squash Ravioli

I spent $45.95 on food/toiletries/HBA the last week. This brings our food/toiletries/paper goods Total to $74.95 for February.

There are 14 shopping days left in February.

I've earned $126.65 on Ibotta in February.
I've earned $10.13 on Checkout51 in February.
I've earned $8.00 on Coupons dotcom/Paypal in February.
I've earned 5,341 points($5.34) from shopping on Fetch in February.
I earned 905 Kicks($3.62)from food shopping on Shop Kick in February.
I've earned 943SB($9.43) from food shopping on Swag Bucks in February.
I've earned $0 from food shopping on Tada in February.

That's $144.78 in rebates(not counting the Shop Kick/Swag Bucks/Tada/Fetch)on $74.95 in grocery spending so in reality it's -$69.83 spent after the 3 rebate apps I count(plus a $1.50 rebate sent to my Paypal account).
rah...

My savings percentage for the last week was 52.81%(without "regular" Rite-Aid trips)and the monthly savings total for February comes in at 59.73% so far(w/out R-A).

Leftovers going into this week.....Chicken Marsala, Green Beans.

Here is this week's "food plan".....
1. Sunday--Homemade Flatbread Pizza plus whatever crap Hubs eats watching Super Bowl
2. Monday--Tuna Noodle Casserole, leftover Green Beans
3. Tuesday--Tacos, Spanish Rice
4. Wednesday--Whatever I take out of the freezer.
5. Thursday--Ditto
6.  Friday--Ditto
7. Saturday--Ditto

What do I need to buy to fix everything on this menu?  Hopefully nothing.  I have smithfield ham pieces in the fridge I want to make collards with but I am want to find fresh collards up here in February. sigh.

What is getting fixed and served at your house this week?

Was last week's plan successful, did you go off plan or did you not even plan what was going to be eaten last week?

Any great deals on food at your stores this week?

Finishing Two Ibotta Bonuses on Friday

I had Two Ibotta Bonuses-the end of the Super Bowl Bonus for $10(needed 8 more rebates)and a $5 Weekend Warrior Bonus where I needed to do 10 Rebates.

I finished both off at Walmart on Friday.........

1 x Back to the Roots potting soil....$5.98
1 x Lysol toilet bowl cleaner...$1.47
1 x GMills oatmeal packets......$2.98
1 x Mtn. Dew Spark.......$1.98
2 x Cheribundi cherry juice.....$11.16
1 x Coke mocha coffee drink......$1.88
1 x VeggieCraft cauliflower pasta......$2.98
1 x Schick Bamboo razor pack......$5.97
1 x Lipton iced tea bags pack.......$1.96
SubTotal.........$36.36

I used a $1/1 Lipton IPQ so $35.36+.46¢ tax=$35.82
I used $30 in free gift cards($25 Swag Bucks/$5 Shop Kick)so I spent $6.82 OOP on all this.

Then I earned $23.61 back in regular Ibotta rebates.  The bamboo razors and the Lysol double dipped for 2 different rebates giving me 11 rebates instead of 9.
Plus I reached both Bonuses totaling $15 more giving me a return on my $6.82 spent of $38.61 in cash rebates.  A $31.79 moneymaker.
Additionally I earned $5.05 back on Fetch($2 on the potting soil, $1.50 on the Mtn. Dew, $1.50 on the pasta, .57¢ more on the Mtn, Dew/Lysol/Lipton)and I have tracking toward another $2 on Mtn. Dew and $5 tracking on $50 Back to the Roots purchases(which I probably won't get done).

I don't foresee anymore Ibotta rebates/grocery shopping being done this month.  This is the week before the wedding and the following week I'll be bedridden by all accounts if this mother/son wedding dance happens. lolz

I did go into Weis(PMITA)Markets this past week and noticed they are no longer putting clearance stickers on short sell by date meats.  Either everything is being snatched up the day it's put out or they are just not having any "long in the tooth" meats due to shortages and demand. Hmmmm.

Frugal Friday.....the February 11th Edition

So here are a few of the frugal-ish things that happened here this past week.......

*   No food waste so far. ;-)  We've got lots of leftovers this week to use up or repurpose.

*  We hit Ollie's(Good Stuff Cheap)on Saturday because I had a 15% coupon and bought this food...

*  I bought these items at Weis on Wednesday that qualified for Ibotta rebates.......

*  While at Walmart on Sunday I bought 2 boxes of clearance corn muffin mix for .25¢ each....

When I got home I realized they were out of date.  That's why so cheap.  But corn mix lasts well past the sell by date so no worries. 8-)

* I bought all this stuff on a trip to Walmart on Sunday and Rite-Aid on Saturday....

Spent no OOP and earned back $27.70 back in reg. rebates and bonuses.

*  I did about 4 Rite-Aid transactions this week utilizing BC, Catalinas and coupons but don't have any photos of it all yet.  It was a very small haul and some of it was today so won't appear until next week's FF post.

*  I got $10 back in on a R-A return.  The other half $9.48 was suppose to be credited back in Bonus Cash.

Two days later I had to call Customer Service as it was still not back on my account.  Crossing my fingers it's back by Monday so I don't have to call them again ugh!

*   I found money!

A penny wedged beside the self-checkout machine at Walmart on Sunday.

Then  a dime under the counter at KFC.  And when I went to get in the car out in their parking lot another penny was laying there.

Then on a quick trip to Weis(PMITA)Markets I found this penny under the CS desk as I walked by..........

Then this nickel in the foyer when I returned my cart.

\

Total Found in last Week...... .18¢
Total Found This Year......$2.06

Finally broke $2 almost midway through February. rah.

That's about all I've got for this week.

Any frugal wins in your neck of the woods?  Let's hear all about them!

And have a good weekend and stay warm!

Income & Spending Report 2022........the January Report

Now that we are living on an annuity and 401K$ withdrawals(some months), I am still going to keep track of our monthly spending and income, and hopefully we'll still be able to live BELOW our means and I'll have some leftover monies each month to tuck aside.

I am trying to be as transparent as I can with how much is coming in and how much is going out.  8-)

On to the January report---

I had 2 goals for January.......
The 1st is to actually finish the month in the black and not the red.
The 2nd is to try to have a little cash leftover at the end of the previous month to tuck back into a slush fund.  This slush fun may be to apply toward unforeseen bills that are coming due in subsequent months, to spend on "extras/wants" during the year or to just sit there and grow until the end of 2021.

I can report that we finished up January in the black.
The amount we ended the month of January with?....$1,590.18

Income or Funds We Can Access

The "income" in January---

* Monthly annuity payment of $3,229.07(after tax withholding)
* Interest earned on non-retirement accounts of $204.10
* 1/3 of Quarterly 401K withdrawal of $2,051.69
* RMSA account to pay for health premiums totaling $2,226.13(yeah, they went up again!)
Total "Income" for January.....$7,710.99

Expenses in January---

* Irregular bills in January were $425.40
* Variable Expenses in January came to $5,695.41
Total Expenses....$6,120.81

$7,710.99-$6,120.81=$1,590.18

Slush into January of $37,456.18 in that Fund, add $1590.18 and we get $39,046.36 going into February 2022's Slush Fund.
The Slush Fund on it's Page(tab at the top of the blog)shows an addition of $1,590.18

Outgo
As for the variable expenses this January here are the good and the bad side of things....

HERE are the GOOD THINGS

*  The WAM was $150 lower than was taken last month.
*  The Amazon c/c was $309.79 less than in December.

HERE are the BAD THINGS

*  The internet bill went up by $3 per month this year.
*  The water bill went up $6.65 in January.
*  The electric bill was $77.07 higher than in December.(Winter, huh!)
*  The gas bill was up $38.54 from last month.
*  The cell phone bill is now $53.60 per month more(until this new phone is paid off).
*  The M/C bill was up $614.70 from December's bill.
*  We had Two Irregular bills in January-
  *  We paid the annual garbage bill in January.
  *  I had a dentist bill of $95.40 this month.

The Food Budget costs for January are in another post, which is located HERE.  Food costs are included in the credit card payment(mainly but sometimes our WAM cash too).

FINAL THOUGHTS on January 2022---Well we knew the cell bill, the internet costs and the healthcare premiums would be higher in 2022.  Internet was three whole dollars higher so no biggie.
We sat down and talked money after which we have decided to take quarterly regular draws from the 401K of $6K per quarter this year.  Between the real estate taxes in March, the school taxes coming up in September and paying for the Wedding rehearsal that's a lot of big irregular bills coming down the pike, two of which get paid with the firsst quarters withdrawal.  Things should loosen up financial once we get past March.
The RMSA which covers the healthcare premiums will run out mid-May but that's a whole other issue I'm not addressing today.

THOUGHTS going forward into February 2022---The wedding is a little over a week away.  Pray that there are no blizzards here in the Mid-Atlantic the weekend after Super Bowl!  Other than bleeding money for this wedding we will be all good financially until March.

So how was your January financially?
Did you spend less than the income you had in January?
Did you stay within your budget or not?
What did you do with any money leftover at the end of the month?
Did you pay off any debts or put extra toward your mortgage principle or into savings, in an emergency fund or a retirement account?
Or did you blow it on a want?

If you posted your financial progress on your own blog, leave a link in the comments so we can go check out your progress too and celebrate or commiserate with you!

Doing the Weekend Warrior Bonus on Sunday & Saturday

I had a $5 Bonus for 18 rebates this past weekend on Ibotta.  I had picked up a few items at my R-A on Saturday already earning me 3 items toward the 18 rebates.

Hubs and I went out on Sunday and I got this.....

At Rite-Aid I picked up 3 Ibotta items on Sunday-the Tom's deodorant, the 2 Max Freeze and 4 Nestle Crunch bars giving me 4 rebates totaling $25.71 paid with BC.  I got back $11.70 in rebates and $6 in new BC.  The Tom's deo was on clearance for $1.99 and I used a $1/1 L2CQ and then got back $1.70 on Ibotta.  That was great!  The Nestle bars all had .50¢ freshness peelies on them so after sale price of .88¢ each they were $1.52 total and I got back $1 on Ibotta.

I also picked up the Sweet-Tarts, Nature's Truth(BOGO)*not in photo*and Pink Vitamins*not in photo* on Saturday at my R-A.  Again used BC to pay so Zero OOP for those and they earned me 3 more Ibotta rebates totaling $4.  I am at 6 rebates earned and 12 more to go to hit the Bonus.

At Walmart, the Renpure body wash was on clearance for $1.61 a bottle so I picked that up even though there was no Ibotta rebate for it as it was a good deal.  The other 9 items(not the Oxi-Clean)all had Ibotta rebates-some were "any XX item" rebates, some were particular brand rebates.  I only used 1 Q $1/1 Alka-Seltzer item ManuQ for the kid's bottle of chewy Alka-Seltzer.  The 9 Ibotta rebate items came to $20.50 w/tax and I paid with a free SwagBucks gift card(I also put some other non-Ibotta items on that gift card as it was for $25.).   I got $7.90 back on Ibotta and was at 15 rebates.

On the way out of Walmart I saw an abandoned receipt outside so I scooped up the litter(hehe)and scanned it(actually I scanned this one before I scanned my own)and there were 3 more rebates earned from that receipt(any item bread, crackers and juice-though I would have gotten that juice one anyway as my Ocean Spray juice would have double dipped had I scanned that receipt first), giving me my 15 rebates and another $5 Bonus.

Total spent.....$0.00
Total earned...$22.70+$5 Bonus=$27.70

The Oxi-Clean was $16.87 for 2 w/tax.  I earned back $9 on Swag Bucks, $4.74 on Checkout51 and another $1.50 for a Coupons dotcom rebate so $16.87 spent and $15.24 in rebates so $1.63 OOP for 2 of those which is a great deal!

In conclusion I spent $1.63 after rebates on the Oxi and got $27.70 back after rebates and Bonus on the Ibotta items having spent Zero OOP on those.

I haven't gotten a MidWeek Moneymaker Bonus but I am 20 more items away the Super Bowl $10 Bonus that ends Saturday.  Don't know if I'll get there or if I want to try to but I am happy with how I did so far. ;-)

This Week on the Dining Table

 The "I Wish I Wasn't Here" Edition...

It's cold as F*^k here!  It was 80F and sunny back in December 2021 in the Virgin Islands.  That larger boat was the one we took there.  Maybe we can move there or go stay for a month or two if we can find someone to watch the dogs for us and not charge us an arm and a leg. ;-)
How about you take our dogs for awhile Kim.  With all the animals and grandkids running around there you'd never even notice them. hehehe

Onward to the meal planning!

Here's what was planned......
1. Sunday--I didn't eat(see above), don't know what Hubs had
2. Monday--Chicken and Dumplings w/Carrots
3. Tuesday--Beef and Mushroom Stroganoff, leftover, Brussels Sprouts, Rice
4. Wednesday--Fish, Cole Slaw
5. Thursday--Butternut Squash Ravioli w/Béchamel, Salad
6.  Friday--Homemade flatbread Pizza, Veggie TBD

*  1 box of fish
*  a box of Super Preetzel

I've earned $51.12 on Ibotta in February.
I've earned $10.13 on Checkout51 in February.
I've earned $5.00 on Coupons dotcom/Paypal in February.
I've earned 258 points($.25) from shopping on Fetch in February.
I earned 150 Kicks($.60)from food shopping on Shop Kick in February.
I've earned 942SB($9.42) from food shopping on Swag Bucks in February.
I've earned $0 from food shopping on Tada in February.

That's $67.75 in rebates(not counting the Shop Kick/Swag Bucks/Tada/Fetch)on $29.00 in grocery spending so in reality it's -$38.75 spent after the 3 rebate apps I count(plus a $1.50 rebate sent to my Paypal account).
rah...

My savings percentage for the last week was 67.33%(without "regular" Rite-Aid trips)and the monthly savings total for February comes in at 67.33% so far(w/out R-A).

Leftovers going into this week.....Chicken and Dumplings, 1 helping each of Fish, Cole Slaw, Sweet Potatoes, Brussel Sprouts

Here is this week's "food plan".....
1. Sunday--Bought a bucket of KFC while out
2. Monday--Leftover KFC
3. Tuesday--Chicken Marsala w/Mushrooms, Veggie TBD, Mashed Potatoes
4. Wednesday--Leftovers or Copycat Bob Evans Salad
5. Thursday--Butternut Squash Ravioli w/Béchamel, Salad
6.  Friday--Homemade flatbread Pizza, Veggie TBD
7. Saturday--Leftovers

What do I need to buy to fix everything on this menu?  Nothing.  I've got everything I just have to dig some chicken breast out of the freezer for the Marsala.  I'll save some chicken from the KFC bucket to top my Bob Evans copycat salad.  I made Colonial dressing last week to use on that.

What is getting fixed and served at your house this week?

Was last week's plan successful, did you go off plan or did you not even plan what was going to be eaten last week?

Any great deals on food at your stores this week?

Where To Move To...I Need Input!

I need some input from my dear readers.  In the next year or two Hubs and I will be leaving PA.  Now that the kids are all grown and have left home we have little reason to live here.  One son is nearby as well as one of Hubs' siblings and our nephew but I don't expect most of them to stay in this area for long.

                                                 Not our house. lolz

We have narrowed our search to a few states with the criteria of climate, taxes, proximity to family and healthcare access.  We want to be closer to family(but not too close lol-we have family in LA, SC, VA, NJ, PA *for now*), be in a lower cost area(taxes and cost of housing), warmer state and an area with good healthcare(docs, hospitals, etc.)available as we age.  We no longer want to be in the snow belt and I don't care to be in the Deep South of MS/AL/GA/FL. I grew up near the shore but I fear property is just too expensive to justify a move to the coast.

The areas we have on our short list are North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas(eastern/upper part near NW LA).  Kentucky, Arkansas and West Virginia are not on the list due to inadequate healthcare facilities unless you know of areas in those states that prove that assumption wrong and have affordable housing, etc. as well.

We are looking to downsize from a 2,100+ Sq Ft. 4 bedroom/2.5 bath 2 story home w/a 2 car garage on 1/3 of an acre, to a 1,800 or less sq. ft. 3 bedroom/2 bath 1 story home w/a 2 car garage on more land.  We would like to make a lateral move financially so about $300K or less would be preferable.

Anybody who has experience or lives in any of these targeted states have any input or information I'd love to hear your thoughts either in the comments or email me privately.  I thought I'd ask before we start making trips to look at property in those states so we don't waste time looking in areas that just don't meet our criteria.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Frugal Friday....the February 4th Edition

This was the view out the front door this morning.  Since then it's been snowing.  I won't be going anywhere anytime soon so no money spent. rah.

So here are a few of the frugal-ish things that happened here this past week.......

*   No food waste so far. ;-)  We've got lots of leftovers this week to use up or repurpose.

*  I used 3 expiring $2 rewards at Subway to get us lunch on Thursday along with part of a gift card.

I saw I also had a free Birthday cookie in my Subway account so Hubs picked that up too. ;-)

* I bought about $12 in stuff on a trip to Weis.  That was my only food shopping trip for the week.

*  I did about 4 Rite-Aid transactions this week utilizing BC, Catalinas and coupons.......

*  On Wednesday Hubs and I had a lunch out at Applebee's using a Xmas gift card from Sonya.  I "went outside my lane" as they say and ordered something new(uh oh), a small steak.  It was overcooked and I couldn't cut it(the dull knife they gave me didn't help any either).  I gave my plate to Hubs to attempt to cut the steak.  This piece of meat shouldn't have been served.  I've had tough and chewy steaks before as well as grisly ones and sinewy ones but there was an artery/vein tube that ran through the center of this steak!  You couldn't cut the tube(think rubber hose)or cut the meat away that was edible from around it.  Called the server over to send it back for an edible piece of meat.  Manager brings new steak over along with a new knife(just as dull as the old one though)and I cut into that one.  Not much better but at least there was no hose in it and it was chewable.

The server brought the check and I used part of my gift card to pay and noticed I had been charge for TWO steaks!  We signaled him over and pointed out that this was an error and he took the check and gift card up to his manager then came back having taken the second steak charge off the check as well as another $10 off for all the issues on this visit.  Basically my part of the meal had cost $3 and change at this point.  go me.

*  I got the result of my sleep study back and the findings where that I no longer need the supplemental oxygen at night so no concentrator is needed.  Rah!  That's less medical bills in my future for DMEs.  Anybody need a broken oxygen concentrator? lol

*  I got $4 back in "post coupons" at R-A this week.  $2 for St. Joseph Aspirin and $2 for Nivea lotion when I forgot my qs at home.

*   I found money!

One whole penny at Weis in front of the CS desk.  I'm shocked I found no errant change in R-A this week!  At least I didn't get skunked for the week thanks to that lone penny at Weis(PMITA)Markets.

Total Found in last Week...... .01¢
Total Found This Year......$1.88

That's about all I've got for this week.

Any frugal wins in your neck of the woods?  Let's hear all about them!

And have a good weekend and stay warm!  It's been snowing all day here.... 8-(
