*****Covid Vaccine Update****

This is the strangest thing.
I guess I put it out into the universe yesterday, both on the blog and was venting to my dentist(and her to me)while she repaired my broken tooth about this whole clusterf**k situation on getting an appointment for a vaccine here in PA.

I got a phone call around 8pm Monday night(which I didn't answer thankfully)that went to voice mail.  When I went up to bed later I played the voice mail and it was a pharmacist at a Rite-Aid up in Sayre PA(right on the NY border across from Elmira NY).  He said to call him back.  My first thought was that they had a shot appointment open(vaccine on the brain lately here!lol)even though I KNOW Rite-Aid's system doesn't keep your info when you go on their website looking for an appointment opening and they don't have a waiting list you can sign up for.

But I had a feeling so I went on the R-A website and searched stores in that general area and I FOUND A VACCINE APPOINTMENT IN A R-A ABOUT 20 MINUTES SOUTH OF SAYRE!!!  And yes, I am screaming. ;-)
Of course it's a nighttime appointment and we are suppose to get icky weather today/tonight but I don't care!
Just to be sure, I called this R-A this morning with my confirmation info to make sure it's not a mistake(what? Rite-Aid make a mistake?!lol)and I am really on the list because it would be annoying to drive all that way just to find out I don't have an actual appointment.  And yes, I am in like Flint!

After hanging up with that store I called back the other R-A pharmacist that had called me last night and left a message.  He asked me about a medication I am taking and whether it's working for me?
WTF?!?  I said yes, it's fine and before he could hang up on me I asked him why he had called about that, especially because I have never had an Rx filled there nor been in that store.  He said he gets that a lot.....R-A pharmacists are instructed to make these type of calls to ANY customer in the R-A system if they have down time to check up on if they are filling their meds. ???  So if you don't fill a medication and you buy your Rxs at R-A, don't be surprised if a pharmacist at a store you've never been to cold calls you and asked about a drug you are taking.

If I had picked up the phone for his call that evening and heard him say all that I wouldn't have thought about searching on my phone for an appointment up in that area of  PA at 10pm Monday night.  My brain wouldn't have gone to the place where I thought that pharmacist was calling about a vaccine opening.

I still find this weird.....but I got an appointment, woohoo!

Of course this also means I have to drive all the way back there in a few weeks for the second shot since they didn't get the J&J vaccine.  I'll gladly go back if this helps end this crap!(Plus I can browse around a new to me R-A and maybe find some deals. 8-))

  1. YAY! I received my 2nd vaccine (pfizer) yesterday. No real side effects other than a sore arm. My arthritic joints hurt every day anyway so no big deal!

  2. Congratulations on the appointment. I had a similar call but from pharmacist at Walgreens. I never get a call from them and have a person actually calling me. Usually, it is a automatic message reminding me I have a refill due. Then when I call as directed, they ask me the name of the drug. ??? I don't know. You called me. However, when the pharmacist called, she told me they are instructed to call people when they have time. It is all so strange. But, at least it was from my pharmacy.

  3. Congratulations on your appointment!! Yes, having to drive somewhere mot in your area is inconvenient, but I would rather do that and have the shots than wait and risk being exposed in the mean time.

  4. Thanks for the breakdown. I might have to hit RA this week. I have a 5 off 20 CAT. Can it be combined with the 10/50?

Yay on the vaccine appointment! There's nothing available around here, so I signed up at Meijer to notify me when they have appointments available. It beats searching online every single day (that's what I've been doing the past 2 weeks).

    1. Ms Goose, I don't know if the $10 off $15 will play nice with the $5 off $20 Cat. Let us know if you try it.

  6. YAY! So glad you have an appointment! But how strange to have the pharmacist call and then to get an opening. Hope all goes well and you don't have any side effects.

  7. Yeah and by the time I get there you will have had both shots and we can party, but what about Sissie? We will wrap her in plastic and make sure to have a lot of wine on hand.

  8. I don't understand, I live in the western part of PA and my family has no problem getting an appointment with the local hospital. Glad your scheduled.

    1. I think it has to do with what county you are in as they all handle this differently. Ours is heavy with elderly and there seems to be no coordinaation between entities.
