Be A Goat & Other Random Silliness

Let's all "goat" for awhile. Ok?

Y'all be proud of me as I haven't set foot in a grocery store all week(so far).  I might hit the discount outlet Friday as I am going a little stir crazy and I am out of milk for my tea.
I didn't even do a pretty good Ibotta Bonus($5 on 15 rebates)this week as it would have meant going to Walmart to get that sucker done and the thought of Walmart during the first week of the month(EBT crowds)just had me say in my head, "Nah....I'm good."  I just don't want to be around random people right now.

I'm working on about 6 different blog posts but nothing is at the point where I feel it's presentable for public consumption.  This just popped into my head.......

I wonder how much that company had to pay Orson Welles to do those commercials.  I am sure it wasn't cheap(like the wine was). lol

I have so many projects(besides the blog)rattling around in my head it's not funny.  Ok, it  IS funny!  Maybe because the snow is FINALLY melting I can sense Spring is around the corner.  Of course after I wrote that I put Chester out and there are snow flurries again. argh!
I kept track and in February we had 5 WHOLE DAYS where it did NOT snow!  That's 23 days where it did snow....from flurries all the way to 18 inch days.  And it didn't warm up enough to melt anything until this past weekend so there are still piles around the yard.
We may not have gotten the usual 100 inches of snow per Winter like when we lived in the Poconos before here but it's been a hard Winter season anyway.

I got word that my only Aunt who got Covid and ended up in the hospital is now better and back home.  My cousin told me she was sick and going into the hospital early in Feb. and then I didn't hear anything for a long while(I figured no news was better than bad news, right?)so I finally messaged her again.  Her mom is out of the woods and recovering at home now which is great!  Auntie is 85, the same age as my mom would be if she was still alive.  Us Bowmans are tough old birds and it takes a lot to kill us off I suppose. 8-)))

And tell me what the hell is this and why?

This was at Rite-Aid for Halloween.  A skeleton with a mermaid tale.  WTF?! I guess the people who design this seasonal crap are running low on ideas.  No wonder they had multiples of this leftover once the Halloween stuff hit 75%....or was it 90%?, I can't remember.

Strawberries are starting to appear in the stores now(and not those tasteless out of season and overpriced ones).  I got 3 containers last week at the Produce Outlet for $1.99 each.  I think I'll eat the last one for lunch today.

I am so ready to go somewhere but still no Covid shot for me even though I am 1A due to health issues.  The set up in PA is ridiculous!  90% of places offering the shots don't even have a waiting list and the ones that do, their lists are so full they aren't even accepting folk onto the waiting list for an appointment.  I spend at least an hour every day having to check each individual vaccination site for an appointment slot.  It's so frustrating!  Even the health system I use is NOT vaccinating their patients.  It's a massive organization so all their vaccine is still dedicated to getting all their staff inoculated.  I am SOOL for the time being.
My PCP isn't advocating for me(and really if  you are a high risk patient your PCP should be advocating for you!)and the organization's website and my PCP constantly say there are no available appointments as they have no vaccine.  So I go to my specialist yesterday and she tells me no, they ARE vaccinating patients at a certain facility you just have to go to the website(but you go there and it's just a "sorry, no vaccine available" message).  It's maddening as you can't get a straight answer out of anyone!  And I really don't know if one hand knows what the other is doing....

Ok, I didn't mean to turn this into a rant so I'll stop now.
I'm off to go work on something easy...maybe I'll clean out my q envie as that won't take long and I'll feel like I accomplished something. lolz

What's going on in your world?

  1. The Pennsylvania model for this roll out does suck. Same experience here.

  2. I'm in NJ, the organization here isn't much better. The only board of health site is at Rowan University, 2.5 hrs from me. My husband, who is 1a, decided to go for it. 5 hr round trip, and has to do it again next week.
I'm 1b, and checked the CVS website all day long. Finally last week, at 4:30 am, they had appts. I went this morning. But so many are still trying to get appts for their 1a family members. This is the site I used, click on PA, then check at odd hours. Good luck! https://www.cvs.com/immunizations/covid-19-vaccine

  3. Call the department of aging and see if they can help set you up. They scheduled both of my appointments at our local hospital. Will be getting my second one next Thursday.

    1. Our county's Dept. of Aging isn't "in the loop" on this or involved in scheduling appts. I tried there first.
      Congrats on getting your shots!

  4. They are hopefully opening up Phase 1C next week here, so keeping my fingers crossed. I want to get back out into the world too.

I have several blog posts going at the same time too, nothing ready yet though. LOL

  5. First, everyone knows that was not just any skeleton. It was a mermaid skeleton and purple mermaid tails do not degrade like the rest of the mermaid body___DUH!
I hope you can get your shot soon. Maybe now that the J&J shot is rolling out you will be able to get it sooner rather than later.
I am supposedly fully inoculated (as far as the known data suggests) but I am still wearing a mask and doing the new normal distancing and sanitizing protocol. I am venturing a little more, but not much! There are still too many unknowns for me to trust the vaccine completely.

  6. I am getting my vaccine at my allergist office along with all his patients. He is getting Moderna sometime. So, I just try to stay safe. I think we have an appointment for Tommy 50 miles from here in a small town. I see lots of lines on tv, but no one has an appointment any time soon.

I don't think I have seen snow this year, nothing. And, I have not seen even a flake fall. Of course, I don't need a lot of snow to thrill me.

  7. Our model has changed a couple times, and there are still those over 65 and others in the first group falling through the cracks. I and many others that know the system (sort of) are trying to do as much reaching out and helping individuals we know, or family of friends, as I just want anyone vulnerable whether I know them personally or not, to get this shot. Since I can be home 24 if I choose (there's nothing that can't be gotten if I really needed it by not leaving my house) I' OK being dead last, but not ok with the elderly and mediaclly challenged to not be in the cue.

  8. Hi, enjoy your blog, although don’t usually comment ;). Here in Az, same story on the vaccine more or less. Crappy sign up system, have to log on, leaf through one page after another, then it says, oops no slots open. State has opened up for all high risk, medical and first responders, and 65 and up...nice idea but there aren’t open slots. This week, They just opened up 55+....had 50,000 slots open up Monday at noon and they were filled by 2 pm. Sigh. What a mess. Oh well, we will eventually get a shot, and stop living in our protected bubble here at home ;)

  11. No real openings here even though they started the next "roll" out of ages. My doctor told me to stay home, and wait until J&J comes out better in April/May. I have food and medication allergies and J&J is suppose to be better for those issues. No matter when I get it, it will be a round trip of 120 miles. Nothing near us was able to have it with the temperature requirement. Doctors in this area are hoping for J&J as there are several that don't drive in this area and have no rides.

    1. Well if I ever do get an appointment at least I won't have to drive 120 miles. Geez!

  12. I want to be a goat too, and head butt some people.
Sorry about the vaccine problems. I used to think the United States was so advanced, but this whole covid mess has shown how poorly prepared we are on any level. VA is the same way. The next rural district over has received double the vaccines as ours, and we have two major colleges where cases are spiking. Don't know if it is incompetence or politics, but dh says it is the same thing. My rant for the day, but I do hope you get a vaccine soon.

    1. Thanks. My older brother lives in Va and he's kept me abreast of the vaccine foolishness going on there mostly due to politics.
