Merry Christmas! I'm Back....

From my house to yours I hope y'all had a Merry Little Christmas!
We are finally back from our 2023 Farewell Tour to see friends and relatives.  It was over a 3,000 mile road trip when all was said and done.

Not having my computer with me I really couldn't post on the blog while we were gone. (I tried once and it was all bolloxed up.)

Here's our little tree this year that I couldn't post until now.  We still haven't done Christmas with my Daughter and her husband so we are still in Holiday Mode. 8-)

Mostly it's decked out in ornaments from our travels.

The Alaskan Inuit Totem Hubs bought in Ketchikan, AK........

The Angel Oak from Johns Island outside of Charleston, SC.

The Boll Weevil Statue from Enterprise, AL........

The Stingray from the Grand Cayman Island.....

The Thistle ornament, the National Flower/Emblem of Scotland from Edinburgh.......

A replica of the Norwegian Dawn, the ship we took around the
British Isles last May........

An ornament of Icy Strait Point in Alaska from the cruise in 2021.......

Greyfriars Bobby in stained glass from Scotland....

A soft felt version of the Westminster Abbey......

And Hubs set up the handmade ceramic nativity set I made decades ago when we lived in the Poconos.  He cleared a bookshelf by the tv for it.  The green and red poinsettia fabric underneath wasn't the best choice but it had to do. ;-)

  1. Beautiful photos. Is this a “farewell” tour of 2023 celebrating the end of 2023 because it has been such a dreadful year? My 2023 sucked so I called New Years Eve the “Good Riddance “ night. To be real,
2024 has not started out so well either! Cindy in the South

    1. Might be my farewell tour due to no diagnosis nor prognosis of my neurological issues after almost a year of this neurologist dicking around. I have no clue what the future holds for me in this area but it could be very bad. Plus my brother in VA refuses to travel and this trip took a lot out of me on more ways than one. Unfortunately the shit show of 2023 continues on into 2024(for now). I hope your life going forward improves in some way.....

    2. Yeah, so far 2024 is a continuation of the shit show of 2023. To be real, it is not going to get better bc of middle son’s mental health issues. It is what it is.
I hope you find a neurologist or diagnosis that is helpful and that you get better. I am so sorry about your brother. I had some relatives like that. You have had major surgery/ health issues, yet they expect you to travel to them!!!! Ugh. Cindy in the South

  3. I was becoming concerned. The Christmas ornaments are good memories. I am sure you have tales to tell about this latest adventure.

  5. I can’t believe you bought a boll weevil statue ornament. It is a lame statue, which only people from Alabama can say.

    2. Well we went through Enterprise AL and saw the "lame statue" so I had to get an ornie to commemorate that girls' trip. You can have fun in dinky little towns as much(and sometimes more)than in big well known cities....it all depends on whom you go with. 8-)

  6. Jre I hope I can ask this but how was your knee/leg on your trip? When I’m about 2 months out (in 10 days) from my TKR I’m planning on trying to drive from Mn to Tampa Fl (long story but granddaughter at college there has a car that broke down so being retired I’m taking a spare car down and flying back). I love road trips including solo but my knee/leg gets pretty achy if sitting long. Thank god for cruise and I’d stop often. How did your leg tolerate the car? Thanks

    1. Well JRE, Hubs did all the driving....all of the 3K+ of it! There is no way I could have driven most of it at 3 months out, but I have other issues making it undoable. I barely survived going to Kroger on Friday by myself in the driving rain and then shopping without an electric cart.lol It was bad enough having to sit in the car with my bruised tailbone on this road trip.
I don't envy your trip, but it you feel your knee is strong enough and you can take many breaks as needed, you'll be fine. Are you done with PT yet and do they recommend you are ready for this trip? Best of luck and watch out for the snowstorm taking over the Eastern part of the country this weekend.

    2. I’m done with PT about a week ago. So I didn’t run it by them. I’m a little nervous in case my leg gets too achy or cramping (I still have periods of that mostly my upper thigh and calf area below my knee and it’s my right knee. But with cruise and if I have to I’ll stop. But I will wear gradient socks. I’ve been in a slump mood so I hope this will help. So many people in forums discuss depression afterTKR. I feel crabby ha! I feel bored, lost and every day still have some weird achy pain. I guess over it! (But am so much better too). Of course January in Mn doesn’t help even though it’s been unusually nice here. Jre
