It's A Go! So I'm Going.

I finally have a surgery date for my knee!  I'll be flying to Columbus in early October with Hubs to obtain a knee replacement.  My insurance has a special program with various joint replacement surgeons around the country, so called COEs(Centers of Excellence).  I finally qualified to use the program and was matched with a surgeon outside of Columbus.  I've got a surgery date, pre-op and post-op dates, initial physical therapy in Ohio, flights have been arranged as well as the hotel stay near the facility.  We'll get a prepaid Visa card to pay for meals and Uber rides while in Ohio.

I have waited so long for this(this joint has been bone on bone for years)and can hardly believe it's just a little over a month away!  I hope I heal up quickly from this.  I am doing everything in my power to make sure I do. 8-)

  1. Congratulations, Sluggy!! I had a complete knee replacement of my right knee in May. I feel I need to warn you that the first 2-3 weeks is brutal, but once you get past that, PT, walking, everything gets easier. I was driving after 4 weeks and returned to school (I teach) the first week of August. Do everything they tell you, and don't be shy about the pain meds those first 2 weeks. I'll send you my email if you want to ask questions or just talk about this "adventure." Of course, that is with the understanding that each person's experience is different.

  5. How fantastic that the wait is over! Great news. Healing wishes headed your way for a successful knee replacement and a speedy recovery. I had lunch with a girlfriend (I think she is about age 55) who had her knee replaced. She is about two years out and diligent about exercise and is finally back to normal. I think rehab took longer than she expected but she is very happy and pain free! Hilogene in Az.

  6. I'm so happy for you.
I cannot imagine the pain you're in.
I have a dear friend who waited many years to have the surgery because she was afraid of the post op pain.
She told me after surgery she wished she'd had it done years ago. That the the pain she was constantly in was worse than the surgery. Oh and
    I love the shirt!

  12. I am so in love with my Titanium twins. Ice/Elevate and do the work. Go slow to go fast. (I used my ice machine for 5 months-swelling causes pain so nip that swelling in the bud!).

YEA!!!!! I am super excited for you.
