  1. Daddy was the one to handle money and bill paying. Mother was the one to handle repairs.

  2. I watched this a few months ago and thought owe wouldn't it be nice to have a man bring home enough to live on and budget, then I could vacuum in pearls.

    1. Do you remember the old pledge polish commercials where the woman would glide through the living room, pledge and rag in one hand, wearing a chiffon dress ;). My favorite.

  3. That's the way it was when I grew up - Dad had the business and Mom stayed home and managed the budget. She helped out in my dad's business as did I - at a young age, typing up contracts etc. I only knew one "working mom" in our neighborhood. The rest stayed home and some took in ironing or babysat for extra money.

    Thanks for sharing this.

  4. I guess my parents were unique as my mom pretty much always worked outside the home-of course I was 9 of 10 kids, so not sure how much wit the older children's but I know our grandparents did a lot of child care. My in-laws though, even 15 years younger than my parents, were more this way. I still can't figure out how my MIL could even play so much bridge, be in so many circles, and drink so much coffee.
