This Week on the Dining Table

  The "Will I Ever Learn?....Maybe Not!" Edition.......

I LOLed at this when I saw it on Facebook.  I guess I'd still be a dumbass if it's true. ;-)

Onward to the meal planning!
Moving On-
This is what was planned.....
1. Sunday--Chinese take-out
2. Monday--Fend For Yourself or Leftover Chinese
3. Tuesday--Take-out(working the polls all day/night)
4. Wednesday--Cheeseburgers, Squash
5. Thursday--Caesar Salad w/Grilled Chicken
6.  Friday--Salmon, Veggie TBD
7. Saturday--Leftovers

And this is what really happened.......
1. Sunday--Chinese take-out
2. Monday--Fend For Yourself or Leftover Chinese
3. Tuesday--Take-out Salad(working the polls all day/night)
4. Wednesday--Salmon, leftover Green Beans, Garlic Bread
5. Thursday--BBQ Chicken Thighs, Creamed Spinach, Baked Tater(Hubs)
6.  Friday--No Dinner for me/Hubs leftovers
7. Saturday--Cheeseburgers

Last week saw 3 nights of home cooked dinners, 2 nights of leftovers/planned overs or FFY and 2 nights of Take-Out/Eating Out.  More Take-Out than I like to have but "election working happened" so it was not eat all day or get Take-Out.
Didn't cook the squash so that moves to this week.  No Romaine lettuce so that meal didn't happen either but I bought salmon and chicken thighs so that happened instead.

What got put into the freezer last week....
*  3 packs of sausage strips
*  2 packs of chicken thighs
*  1 bag of veggie mix
*  1 box of popsicles
*  1 piece of salmon

What got taken out of the freezer and used...
*  I piece of salmon
* 1 pack of chicken thighs
* 1 box of creamed spinach
* 4 burger patties

We spent a whopping $116.86 on food/toiletries/HBA last week at Weis($47.61)and Walmart($69.25).  I forgot to use a free gift card to pay some of the Walmart bill. sigh This brings our food/toiletries/paper goods Total to $269.54 for May so far.

There are 6 shopping days left in May.

I've earned $114.43 on Ibotta in May.
I've earned $0.00 on Checkout51 in May.
I've earned $1.50 on Coupons dotcom/Paypal in May.
I've earned 8,063 points from shopping on Fetch in May which equals $8.06
I've earned 15,950 points from food shopping on Shop Kick in May which equals $63.80.
I've earned 1,241 points from food shopping on Swagbucks in May which equals $12.41.
I've earned $18.87 in Target gift cards.
That's $115.93+ in rebates(not counting the ShopKick/Swag Bucks/Fetch/Target gift cards)on $269.54 in grocery spending so far.

My savings percentage for last week was 37.10%(without "regular" Rite-Aid trips)for April and the monthly savings total for April comes in at  54.50%.(w/out R-A).

Leftovers going into this week...1 cheeseburger, 2 chicken thighs.

Here is this week's "food plan".....
1. Sunday--Fend For Yourself
2. Monday--Beef Pie
3. Tuesday--Teriyaki Pork Stir-Fry w/Veggies
4. Wednesday--Chicken Parm, Grilled Squash
5. Thursday--Mushroom Quiche, Salad
6.  Friday--Pizza?, Salad
7. Saturday--Leftovers

What do I need to buy to fix everything on this menu?  I had a leftover pack of mushroom I didn't need for the Stroganoff so I'll make 2 quiches this week and freeze one.  The only thing I "need" is salad greens.  That doesn't mean I won't buy anything else however. lol  I am working on a $10 Ibotta bonus after all and I have 18 offers to finish before the end of May.  I do as many offers as I can at Rite-Aid(which will be Zero dollars and the rest I'll pick and choose what is needed and/or cheap after rebate at Weiss(PMITA)Markets and/or Walmart. 8-)

What is getting fixed and served at your house this week?

Was last week's plan successful, did you go off plan or did you not even plan what was going to be eaten last week?

Any great deals on food at your stores this week?

This Week on the Dining Table

  The "Use It Up" Edition....

My massive container of elbow noodles is now gone.  Hubs cooked the rest up Saturday night to go with his leftover Stroganoff meal.  I told him that was too much noodle for the amount of Stroganoff left but he cooked it all anyway.  I guess he's planning on using what is leftover from his meal with spaghetti sauce for lunches this week.  And if that wasn't HIS plan, it certainly is MINE! lol

Onward to the meal planning!

Moving On....
This is what was planned.....
1. Sunday--Beef and Mushroom Stroganoff over leftover Mashed Taters, Sauted Green Beans
2. Monday--Salmon, Brussels Sprouts, leftover Mac and Cheese
3. Tuesday--Leftovers
4. Wednesday--Broccoli Cheddar Soup
5. Thursday--Beef Pie(Hubs cooking)
6.  Friday--More Leftovers
7. Saturday--Subway or Leftovers(depending on how much of the Leftovers Hubs eats for lunches)

And this is what really happened.......
1. Sunday--Beef and Mushroom Stroganoff over leftover Mashed Taters, Sauted Green Beans
2. Monday--Salmon, Brussels Sprouts, leftover Mac and Cheese
3. Tuesday--Leftovers
4. Wednesday--Broccoli Cheddar Soup
5. Thursday--Beef Pie(Hubs cooking)
6.  Friday--Hot Dogs, Macaroni Salad
7. Saturday--Chinese take-out for lunch, FFY for dinner

Last week saw 5 nights of home cooked dinners, 1 nights of leftovers/planned overs, FFY, and 1 night of Take-Out.
The plan was followed mostly last week, except Hubs ate more leftovers than I thought so I had to come up with a new meal on Friday.  I was having a craving for Macaroni Salad so I made some and paired it with those boutique hot dogs I got 2 weeks ago at P and R. Ex-College Boy was coming over Friday night to get our old microwave anyway plus he LOVES my macaroni salad and there were extra hot dogs so he ate with us too.  I gave him some mac salad to take home along with a container of the Broccoli soup too as he likes that as well.

What got put into the freezer last week....
*  Not a single thing
Everything I bought was to use last week or refrigerated things like cottage cheese and/or produce.

What got taken out of the freezer and used...
*  1 small London Broil
*  1 hunk of Salmon
*  1/2 bag Brussels Sprouts
*  1/2 bag of Broccoli
*  1 lb. Ground Beef

This month is going to be all about taking more OUT of the freezer than putting IN the freezer.  I'll also be going through canned/boxed goods to see what we should be using now versus later.

We spent $49.45 on food/toiletries/HBA/paper goods last week.  $38.33 at Walmart, .12¢ at CVS, $5.05 at P and R discounters and $5.95 at Malacari's Produce. This brings our food/toiletries/paper goods Total to $135.44 for January.

There are 13 shopping days left in January.

I've earned $120.93 on Ibotta in January.
I've earned $8.00 on Checkout51 in January.
I've earned $2.00 on Coupons dotcom/Paypal in January.
I've earned 294 points from shopping on Fetch in January.
I've earned 2240 point from food shopping on Shop Kick in January.
I've earned 0 points from food shopping on Swagbucks in January.

My savings percentage for last week was 58.39%(without "regular" Rite-Aid trips)for January and the monthly savings total for January comes in at 66.37%.(w/out R-A).

Leftovers going into this week--Beef Stroganof w/Mashed Taters, Broccoli Cheddar Soup, Beef Pie, Macaroni Salad.
I am not feeling inspired toward a meal plan this week.  It's my Birthday this week so I know we'll be getting take-out on Thursday(luckily it's my shot day so I don't cook then anyway)but otherwise I'm not feeling it this week.
I need to just got take some things out of the freezer and put something together.

Here is this week's "food plan".....
1. Sunday--Leftover Beef Pie
2. Monday--Fend for Yourself
3. Tuesday--Tuna Noodle Casserole, Veg from the Freezer
4. Wednesday--Sloppy Joes, Veg from Freezer
5. Thursday--Take-Out for Birthday
6.  Friday--Tacos or Taco Salad
7. Saturday--Pizza, Salad

I've got cooked up ground beef to use thus sloppy joes and taco/taco salads this week.  I also have a boxed mix for tuna noodle casserole that's been in the pantry for awhile. (Next week seafood and chicken will return and maybe pork chops...it just depends what I pull out of the freezer.) Add in various leftovers and the week o' meals is filled out.  Nothing inspiring or interesting really but it gets the job done. ;-)

What needs buying for this menu?  Nothing I can think of at this point.

What is getting fixed and served at your house this week?

Was last week's plan successful, did you go off plan or did you not even plan what was going to be eaten last week?

This Week on the Dining Table

The "I Am Tired After the Last Three Days" Edition....

Thursday, Friday and Saturday were a blur for me.  Christmas eve was finishing up wrapping, cooking and delivering gifts to friends, taking pizzas to Rite-Aid for all the workers there.  Christmas day was more cooking and 6 here for the day and dinner and present mayhem(well maybe not "mayhem" lolz)then all the cleaning up and then packing, more cooking to take to m son's place and taking the dogs to the kennel for 2 days before leaving for NJ for an overnight visit(where I didn't have to cook finally! yay!!).

 We got home Sunday afternoon after a quick 24 hour trip to Eldest son's new apartment for our first visit there. After we drove home Sunday with a stop at OSJL, I hit Rite-Aid(for after Xmas clearance)and Weis for a Sunday paper and a few things/deals after we got home and then it was almost time to fall into bed.  I am still tired today and moving in slow motion but getting a few chores accomplished.  I refuse to get out of my PJs and leave the house and probably won't until Wednesday when I have an errand to run.

As for de-Christmasing the house....that's going to be much, much later if I can help it. lolz

Onward to the meal planning!

1. Sunday--Butternut Squash Ravioli

Last week saw 4 nights of home cooked dinners, 2 nights of leftovers/planned overs, FFY, and 1 night of Take-Out.
Basically everything planned happened and Sat. eldest's GF cooked for us.

As for Xmas day leftovers, not much as I made a point to send Ex-CB, his Roommate, the Brother in-law and Nephew home with lots of helpings of what was left.  We do still have too many peanut butter cookies here but Ex-CB will come on his day off this week and take those away to consume at his place(along with a few other things as well).

What got put into the freezer last week....
*  2 panko pork tenderloin slices
*  1 SL Peppermint cheesecake
*  1 Cherry pie
*  2 lb. bag Brussels Sprouts
*  1 2-pack of Incogmeato burger patties

*  1 Smoke Ham but
*  1 lb. Ground Beef
*  1 lb. Ground Turkey
*  2 packs Butternut Squash Ravioli
*  1 Peppermint Cheesecake
*  1 box CA Medley Veggies

We spent a whopping $197.49 on food last week. Yikes! There were lots of good deals and having taken the huge ham out of the chest freezer I had room to pick up some "frozen assets" at a good price.
This bring our food/toiletries/HBA/paper goods Grand Total to $474.43 for December.

Actually my OOP was $12.22 less than $197.49 last week.  On all 3 trips I made to Weis(PMITA)Markets I was overcharged on things(unattentive cashiers perhaps?)so I got that much refunded but they were giving out cash instead of credits back on cards(which I mostly use for food shopping)so instead of a lower total I got $12.22 for my refund/post coupon envelope. which get added back into the food budget so it's all good.

There are 3 shopping days left in December but I am done for the year!

I've earned $182.53 on Ibotta in December.
I've earned $00 on Checkout51 in December.
I've earned $10.00 on Coupons dotcom/Paypal in December.
I've earned 8837 points from shopping on Fetch in December.(I have a few more receipts to scan still so this may be larger for the month.)
I've earned 11,628 point from food shopping on Shop Kick in December.
I've earned 1120 points from food shopping on Swagbucks in December.

My savings percentage for last week was 56.84%(without "regular" Rite-Aid trips)for December and the monthly savings total for December comes in at 55.41%.(w/out R-A).

Leftovers going into this week.....1 helping of chicken and dumplings, 1/3 pan of lasagna, 1 helping of Caesar salad, 3 slices of Garlic bread, a little bit of ham, 1/3 of the meatloaf and 1/3 of the pan of mac and cheese.

Here is this week's "food plan".....
1. Sunday--Fend for Yourself
2. Monday--Fried Chicken, leftover Mac and Cheese, Brussels Sprouts
3. Tuesday--leftovers
4. Wednesday--leftovers
5. Thursday--?
6.  Friday--?
7. Saturday--?

What needs buying for this menu?  Nothing. I planned a little but Hubs is going to fix dinner most nights as we'll eat on the leftovers or simple things like sandwiches and he's frying some chicken(which he likes to do a couple times a year)as I picked up a whole fryer yesterday for $3.22.
I don't plan to go into a grocery store again until 2021. 8-)

Kim's Sissie was so jealous of my Charlie Brown Christmas Tree she went out and found a Grinch Tree.

It's so stinkin' cute!  Too bad is a real tree and you can't store it away until next year.  Maybe she can keep it alive until next Christmas??

This Week on the Dining Table

 The "Time to Wrap Up the Month" Edition.....

No photos this week.  I didn't even take a single one on Thanksgiving.  So not like me.

The last day of November is here.  That flew by!

I feel very much behind the 8 ball here between having to mail out giveaway boxes, blog about all the Black Friday shopping I did(mostly at Rite-Aid), do the end of month bookwork and financial stuff, put all the Rite-Aid haul away, put Thanksgiving stuff away(the little I have)and drag out the festive for Christmas.  So much to do before Dec. 25th gets here that I am stressing out over it!
But enough of that.....

Onward to the meal planning!

Moving On....

This is what was planned.....
1. Sunday--Teriyaki Salmon w/Rice, Roasted Sweet Potato Wedges
2. Monday--Baked Pork Chop, Corn Casserole, Broccoli
3. Tuesday--Pork and Veggies Stir-Fry, Rice
4. Wednesday--Leftovers
5. Thursday--Roasted Turkey Breast, Stuffing, Taters, Rutabaga, Green Beans, Gravy, Cranberry Glop, Rolls, Pie
6. Friday--leftovers
7. Saturday--maybe Take-Out?

And this is what really happened.......
1. Sunday--Teriyaki Salmon w/Rice, Roasted Sweet Potato Wedges
2. Monday--Baked Pork Chop, Corn Casserole, Broccoli
3. Tuesday--Fend for Yourself
4. Wednesday--TV Dinners
5. Thursday--Roasted Turkey Breast, Stuffing, Taters, Rutabaga, Green Beans, Gravy, Cranberry Glop, Rolls, Pie
6. Friday--leftovers
7. Saturday--free Lasagna from Weis, Crudités

Last week saw 3 nights of home cooked dinners, 4 nights of leftovers/FFY/TV Dinners, and 0 nights of Take-Out/Eating Out.
I couldn't locate the pork loin for the stir-fry dish(buried in the freezer somewhere)and after cooking stuff ahead on Wednesday we just did TV dinners that night.  Even though I made way less this year since we only had 4 people for Turkey day(and we packed quite a bit off with Ex-CB and roommate) there are still abundant leftovers, which we whittled away at on Friday and Sunday.  I'll rework what's left into new dishes this week or see if Ex-CB wants more leftovers. (I KNOW he'll take me up on more pumpkin pie! lol)

What got put into the freezer last week....
*  6 x 1 lbs. of butter
*  1 large frozen lasagna
*  1 turkey breast
*  2 pints of ice cream

What got taken out of the freezer and used...
*  1 turkey breast
*  3 bags of green beans
*  1 hunk of salmon
*  2 pork chops
*  1/4 bag of broccoli

We spent $141.82 last week(lots of small trips to Weis, Aldi, Schiff's restaurant supply, P and R grocery outlet, Dollar General and a $3.85 OOP trip to CVS), bringing our food/toiletries/HBA/paper goods Grand Total to $385.33 for November.  Even with that high spending week last week I still stayed under my $400 food budget for the month.  yay!

There are 0 shopping days left in November.

I've earned $163.50 on Ibotta in November.
I've earned $1.00 on Checkout51 in November.
I've earned $10.00 on Coupons dotcom/Paypal in November.
I've earned 13,292 points from shopping on Fetch in November.
I've earned 510 points from food shopping on ShopKick in November.
I've earned 500 points from food shopping on Swagbucks in November.

My savings percentage for last week was 60.38%(without "regular" Rite-Aid trips)for November and the monthly savings total for November comes in at 60.02%.(w/out R-A). I think the CVS trip and the Dollar General trip both helped to boost my savings rate last week.

Leftovers going into this week.....turkey day foods, a little taco filling, half a pan of lasagna.

Here is this week's "food plan".....
1. Sunday--Leftover Thanksgiving foods
2. Monday--Butternut Squash Ravioli, Salad
3. Tuesday--Taco Salad
4. Wednesday--Turkey Casserole, Brussels Sprouts
5. Thursday--Domino's pizza or Hubs cooks
6. Friday--Leftovers
7. Saturday--more Leftovers or Turkey soup?

What needs buying for this menu? I think I have everything here so no food purchases required for this menu.  The menu may deviate later in the week, depending on how tired we are of Thanksgiving sides. ;-)

This Week on the Dining Table

    The "Trick or Treat *hic*" Edition.....

While at the big liquor store down in Delaware last month I snapped a picture of these bags of nip bottles of Fireball, marketed for "Adult Trick or Treating".
Can you imagine if someone bought this and mistakenly handed it out to kids?
Yikes!

Onward to the meal planning!

Moving On....

This is what was planned.....
1. Sunday--Cheeseburger on Bun w/Lett./Tom
2. Monday--Chicken and Dumplings using leftover chicken
3. Tuesday--? no clue, working the polls
4. Wednesday--Taco salad or Tacos
5. Thursday--something easy or whatever Hubs makes
6. Friday--Leftovers
7. Saturday--Chili w/leftover taco filling? for Hubs(I'll FFY)

And this is what really happened.......

1. Sunday--Cheeseburger on Bun w/Lett./Tom
2. Monday--Chicken and Dumplings using leftover chicken
3. Tuesday--veggies, hummus, dip, cheese, crackers
4. Wednesday--Rigatoni w/Meat/Mushroom Sauce, Salad
5. Thursday--Chinese take-out
6. Friday--Tacos for Hubs/Strawberries for me
7. Saturday--Pork Tenderloin Sandwich, Strawberries

Last week saw 5 nights of home cooked dinners(if you consider appetizers on Tues. home cooking lol), 1 nights of leftovers/FFY/TV Dinners, and 1 night of Take-Out/Eating Out.  I picked up a Whopper on Friday for lunch so just had more strawberries for dinner as I wasn't too hungry and I didn't need more meat that day.
We had gone through the small freezer on top of the fridge last week and found a bag of meat sauce(heavy on the meat)so to use that up we sauted mushrooms to put in the sauce and added more marinara to balance the sauce out and Hubs made pasta for it on Wednesday.  There was a TON left but this gave him a leftover to eat on for lunches all the rest of the week(and something he loves).
On Friday at Weis(PMITA)Markets I found a 2 pack of marked down pork tenderloins already panko-ed up so we had that for dinner on Saturday.

What got put into the freezer last week....
* a smoked Pork Roast(1/2 off at Weis)
* a smoked Turkey Breast(the Walmart/Ibotta deal)

What got taken out of the freezer and used...
* a large pack of Ground Beef
* a bag of Meat Sauce

This photo is for Jen G.  She has numerous times complained about not being able to find tofu/seitan(she's vegan)during this pandemic.  My Walmart is well stocked and she would love going to the specialty discounter I often frequent as well.  We went there on Saturday and they had at least 8 types of tofu/seitan(and at discount prices as that is what they do)and one type was even BOGO.(And I fogot to take a picture that day.)

The  "End of the Garden" Edition.....

We harvested the collards on Friday and other than a few tomatoes that are still green thus ends our garden for the season.  I still have collards uncooked in the fridge and need to blanch and freeze or cook them this week.  The only thing is to pull up the remaining plants and work some nutrients into the soil before we leave the beds to winter over.

The front flower bed is still going strong however......

This photo is from July so it's really filled out since then.
