This Week on the Dining Table

   The "I Have to Cook Again, Blahs!" Edition...

One of the best things about the weeklong cruise was NOT having to meal plan or cook anything.  It was lovely.  The only effort was deciding where to eat and picking out what to eat. lol
I had this sort of breakfast a few times-scrambled eggs(not from powdered!)a piece of bread w/orange marmalade, thin crisp bacon and cantaloupe(2 pieces).  I have to say they had some of the best fruit on this cruise, especially the 'loupe.
Now it's back to real life dang it! ;-)

Onward to the meal planning!

This is what was planned--
1. Sunday--Nothing
2. Monday--Nothing
3. Tuesday--Nothing
4. Wednesday--Nothing
5. Thursday--Nothing
6.  Friday--Nothing
7. Saturday--Nothing

And this is what really happened.......
1. Sunday--Whatever you could scrounge up.
2. Monday--Kielbasa sandwiches, some frozen veggies(don't remember what)
3. Tuesday--Domino's Pizza, Watermelon
4. Wednesday--FFY(I had a PBJ sammie)
5. Thursday--Chinese Take-out and Watermelon
6.  Friday--Steak, COC, Caesar Salad(I just had the COC)
7. Saturday--BLTs, Watermelon

We got home at 1:03am EDST on Sunday morning from the airport.  It took me 3 days to adjust to the time zone change and to get my brain working on a meal plan again. ugh.  We had no fresh produce except for a plethora of tomatoes in the garden and 1 sad cucumber.  In order to have BLTs I had to get to the grocery store for bread.  Unfortunately I found much more food to buy besides bread. lol

What got put into the freezer last week....
* 1 pack of chicken/apple sausage
* 1 Cab Round Steak

What got taken out of the freezer and used...
* 1 lb. of Pepper Bacon
* 2 Steaks
*  1 pack of Kielbasa

I spent $1232.82 on food/toiletries/HBA last week at Walmart.  This brings our food/toiletries/paper goods Total to $122.82 for September so far.

I've earned 6,025 points from food shopping on Shop Kick in September which equals $24.10.
I've earned 12,367 SB from food shopping on Swagbucks in September which equals $12.36.

That's $56.87 in rebates(not counting the Shop Kick/Swag Bucks/Fetch)on $122.82 in grocery spending so in reality it's $65.95 spent after the 3 rebate apps I count until I cash out on the other three apps. 8-)))

My savings percentage for last week was 38.26(without "regular" Rite-Aid trips)for September and the monthly savings total for September comes in at 38.26%.(w/out R-A).

3. Tuesday--Lobster, COC
4. Wednesday--Cook-out Foods
5. Thursday--Pork Tenderloin Sandwiches, Green Beans
6.  Friday--BLTs
7. Saturday--Leftovers or FFY

What do I need to buy to fix everything on this menu?  Lobster obviously.  And I'll need to either make bread or hit the bread store and buy corn on cob.  Might hit a produce stand too depending on if I have the energy to make and can my pepper relish this week.

What is getting fixed and served at your house this week?

Was last week's plan successful, did you go off plan or did you not even plan what was going to be eaten last week?

Any great deals on food at your stores this week?

What is getting fixed and served at your house this week?

Was last week's plan successful, did you go off plan or did you not even plan what was going to be eaten last week?

This Week on the Dining Table

 The "Still Shaking My Head" Edition....

Sometime in November I saw these industrial sized rolls of toilet paper being sold in Weis(PMITA)Markets.  They look to be the size you find in public restroom stalls in those oversized roll holder machines.  They labeled their signage, "Never Ending Bathroom Tissue". lolz  I actually had Hubs go back the next day and buy two(incidentally, by the end of the week they were all gone), one to tuck away for us and one to put in a gift bag to give Ex-College Boy as a joke for a Xmas gift.  When he was younger he could certainly "go" through a tp roll per trip to the bathroom and also "blow" through an entire box of facial tissue for his nose.
We ALL thought it was a funny gift, except Ex-CB..... ;-)

5. Thursday--Meatball Sub(Hubs cooked)

7. Saturday--Tuna Sub w/lots of Veggies

Last week saw 5 nights of home cooked dinners, 2 nights of leftovers/FFY/TV Dinners, and 0 nights of Take-Out/Eating Out.  Not much of a plan was formulated so not much was followed.

What got put into the freezer last week....
* 1 box of pie crust
*  1 box of breaded shrimp
*  1 hamburger patty

What got taken out of the freezer and used...
*  1 bag of meatballs
*  1 box of breaded shrimp(for lunch)

We spent $81.60 last week(3 small trips to Weis a $5+ trip to CVS), bringing our food/toiletries/HBA/paper goods Grand Total to $243.51 for November so far.

There are 7 shopping days left in November.

I've earned $108.05 on Ibotta in November.
I've earned $0.00 on SavingStar in November.

7. Saturday--maybe Take-Out?

If it was just me this week I'd just Fend for Myself or eat whatever I could grab out of the pantry.  But Hubs won't go for that. lol  So a meal plan of sorts is happening besides on Thursday. ;-)

What needs buying for this menu? The only things I need to pick up are Turkey Day related--celery, carrots, milk and a rutabaga.
Since Eldest son and his GF can't come it's just Hubs, Ex-College Boy and I and maybe Ex-CB's roommate.  So it's a scaled down meal.  I have cans of whack biscuits in the fridge so I may just make those if someone wants rolls with their dinner since making the yeast rolls from scratch is a production and makes a ton of 'em.  Or I could make the dough for rolls and freeze most of it for Xmas, thus saving me some work in December.  What would you do?

What is getting fixed and served at your house this week?

Was last week's plan successful, did you go off plan or did you not even plan what was going to be eaten last week?

This Week on the Dining Table

The  "End of the Garden" Edition.....

We harvested the collards on Friday and other than a few tomatoes that are still green thus ends our garden for the season.  I still have collards uncooked in the fridge and need to blanch and freeze or cook them this week.  The only thing is to pull up the remaining plants and work some nutrients into the soil before we leave the beds to winter over.

The front flower bed is still going strong however......

This photo is from July so it's really filled out since then.
I really need to put that lavender plant in the pot in front into the ground but can't decide where to locate it yet.

This Week on the Dining Table

  The  "More Garden Harvest" Edition.....

The garden is winding down. We picked 2 small tomatoes and one Jalapeno pepper this past weekend.  Hubs had picked those 4 acorn squash 2 weeks ago without my asking him to.  They weren't ripe yet but he said they had stopped growing. sigh.  I told him he should have left them alone. So no acorn squash for us......
We've got a few more tomatoes and peppers yet to ripen, and I'll wait until the first frost to harvest my collards and then we are done for the year(except for amending the soil in the back garden beds).

Onward to the meal planning!

3. Tuesday--Corn on cob, Chicken Tenders
4. Wednesday--Scampi w/Linguine, Salad
5. Thursday--Chicken Parm, Salad, Garlic Bread
6. Friday--Chinese Take-out
7. Saturday--Leftovers(I had Chinese/Hubs had Shrimp Scampi)

Last week saw 4 nights of home cooked dinners, 2 nights of leftovers/FFY/TV Dinners, and 1 night of Take-Out/Eating Out.
Still need to use that cabbage.
We had Ex-College Boy and his roommate over for dinner on Thursday.  I had gone to P and R Outlet that day and picked up some chicken breast for $1.49 lb.(3 large breasts)and a small loaf of frozen garlic bread(besides being inexpensive all their frozen foods were an additional 20% off that day).  I sliced the chicken in half and pounded it thinner and made Chicken Parmesan since it's one of Ex-CB's favorites.  The garlic bread and a large tossed salad rounded out that meal. I had cottage cheese that's needed using and the weather was cooler and I was running the oven for the Parm so I made 2 smaller pans of lasagna too(1 for us, 1 for Ex-CB and his roommate).

P and R Outlet is that place that gives away freebies with a purchase.  We picked up 2 packs of hot dogs(one beef/one chicken), 2 tubes of organic crescent rolls and 1 can of an oat milk coffee drink, all for free on Thursday.  Ex-CB took the hot dogs and coffee drink, we kept the whack rolls(but I'll probably give those to Ex-CB as well next time he's here).
Going there is like a treasure hunt...you never know what you'll find at an amazing price(or free). 8-))

What got put into the freezer last week....
* 4 pot pies
* 2 boxes pot stickers
* 4 bags of veggies

What got taken out of the freezer and used.....
* Hot Dogs
* Shrimp
* Chicken Tenders

We spent $80.32 last week(and I forgot to add my .16¢ spent at CVS-will add it into this week's spending) bringing our food/toiletries/HBA/paper goods to $190.46 for September so far.

What needs buying for this menu?  Lobster. There is a $4.99 lb. at Price Chopper coupon this week for the lobsters but you have to spend $15 on other items to use it.  I am not going grocery shopping this week other than lobsters, fressh salmon and a few items we can use to get me to $15+the cost of the lobsters.
My MidWeek Ibotta bonus is only $1 again so I won't be buying anything until the weekend if the Weekend Warrior Bonus is $5 for me.  I only need 18 more offers to reach that $20 Moolah Bonus so I have time to wait for a better Midweek/Weekend Bonus to pair with it.

What's left on my master list of meals we can make from what's at home.
* Tuna Casserole
* Roasted Chicken
* Shrimp/Crab Ravioli
* Cheese Ravioli
* Breakfast for Dinner
