This Week on the Dining Table....Oct 20th to Oct. 26th

The "Would You Trust This Man? Edition.........

On a recent trip to Walmart I happened to notice this up above one of the end cases in the Frozen Food Section.
It's a photo of a Walmart Employee and notes "Donald (Last Name Redacted) Backs This Product".  This is over a freezer case holding Great Value Brand Corn Dogs.

I guess compared to name brand corn dogs this is a good thing but really, what grownup eats corn dogs....other than as a lark at a State Fair or a single man still living in his parents basement.
I should have asked at the CS desk that if I bought them and didn't like them as much as Donald that I could return them to Donald for a full refund.  ;-)

September's Meal Planning turned into a big fat Cluster "You Know What"  so we are starting fresh in October.

Onward to the meal planning!
This is what was planned for last week...........
1. Sunday--Leftover Lasagna, Salad, Leftover Garlic Bread
2. Monday--BBQ Pork, Coleslaw, Asparagus
3. Tuesday--Leftover Meatloaf, Assorted Leftover Veggies
4. Wednesday--Homemade Sauce with Pasta, Salad
5. Thursday--Crab Cakes, Leftover or Frozen
Veggies
6. Friday--Chicken Strips, Leftover or Frozen Veggies
7. Saturday--Shrimp, Leftover or Frozen Veggies

And here's what actually happened....
1. Sunday--Leftover Lasagna, Salad, Leftover Garlic Bread
2. Monday--BBQ Pork, Buns(optional), Coleslaw
3. Tuesday--Leftover Meatloaf, Asparagus
4. Wednesday--Crab Cakes, Leftover Sweet Potato Fries, Green Beans
5. Thursday--Homemade Sauce with Pasta, Leftover Broccoli
6. Friday--Shrimp, Yellow Squash and Onions
7. Saturday--Salmon, Leftover Asparagus and Cole Slaw

More Leftovers appeared than I planned but most meals planned were eaten.

What got taken out of the freezer last week....
*  A Pork Butt
*  Crab Cakes
*  Chicken Strips
*  Shrimp
*  Salmon
*  Spinach SoufflĂ©**
**I dropped the cooked spinach soufflĂ© on the floor when taking it out of the oven so it was  leftover veggies for the win.

What got put into the freezer last week....
*  2 pcs. of Salmon
*  2 lbs. of Flounder
*  1 box of Shrimp
*  1 box of Shrimp Scampi
*  1 box of Spring Rolls
*  2 Apple Bread Batter Rolls
*  18 ct. Burritos
*  Most of the BBQ I made

Last week we spent $150.13 grocery shopping.

Total shopping comes to $471.18 for October.   There are 10 shopping days left in October.

Rebate monies earned this month so far.....
I've earned $220.37 on Ibotta in October.
I've earned $3.00 on Shopmium in October.
I've earned $0.00 on TaDa in October.
I've earned $23.48 on Checkout51 in October.
I've earned $105.72 on Aisle, etc. in October. (Haven't gotten my Nature Valley rebate yet from June.)
I've earned 16,295 points on Fetch from food shopping in October.
I've earned 7,589 points from food shopping on Shop Kick in October.($8.94)
I've earned 1,919 Points on My Points in October.(not sure what the conversion rate it here)
I've earned 1,638 from food shopping on Swag Bucks in October.($16.38)

That is $352.57 in rebates(not counting Shop Kick/Fetch/MyPoints/Swag Bucks/The Insiders were I earned gift cards)on $471.18 of grocery spending so in reality it's $118.61 in food spending after the rebate apps I count. I now separate out the Food Bank donations and don't count those in the grocery spending(but I do count any rebates on those items) so it's a win/win--the food bank gets a large donation of goods and I get a lower grocery bill.

My savings percentage for the last week was 46.12% and the monthly savings total for October comes in at 47.86% spent.

Leftovers going into this week....squash and onions, bbq, cole slaw, spaghetti with sauce, 1 helping of lasagna.  And a large load of bbq sans sauce got put into the freezer.

Here is this week's food plan.....
1. Sunday--Chicken Strips, Squash & Onions
2. Monday--Risotto, Salad
3. Tuesday--Chilli(Hubs), TV dinner(me)
4. Wednesday--Flounder, Veggie TBD
5. Thursday--Leftovers
6. Friday--Flatbread Pizza, Salad
7. Saturday--Leftovers

What is getting fixed and served at your house this week?

Was last week's plan successful, did you go off plan or did you not even plan what was going to be eaten last week?

This Week on the Dining Table

The "Spring Has Sprung" Edition.....

On the way to my wound care appointment last Wednesday I noticed massive amounts of Wisteria vines had bloomed everywhere.  Much prettier than the massive pollen dump I've been seeing the last few weeks.

Onward to the meal planning!

This is what was planned.......
1. Sunday--Cheese Ravioli, Salad
2. Monday--Chicken Enchiladas
3. Tuesday--Shrimp Alfredo, Creamed Spinach
4. Wednesday--Lunch out after dr. appt.
5. Thursday--Chicken Teriyaki Stir-Fry w/Veggies, Rice
6.  Friday--Pork Tenderloin Sandwich, Sweet Potato Wedges
7. Saturday--Chicken Tenders, Veggies TBD

And here's what actually happened........
1. Sunday--Cheese Ravioli, Salad
2. Monday--Chicken Enchiladas(I just had Spanish rice as I don't care for Enchiladas.)
3. Tuesday--Shrimp and Primavera Alfredo Fettuccine
4. Wednesday--Lunch out after dr. appt.
5. Thursday--Leftovers(I has sweet potato fries)
6.  Friday--Corned Beef, Cabbage, Baked Tater
7. Saturday--Leftover Fettuccine

Friday changed as I didn't realize it was St. Patrick's Day when I made the menu last week.  And we were out of fettuccine noodles so that dish was made with linguine.
Thursday, Friday and Saturdays planned meals didn't happen(again).

What got put into the freezer last week....
*  1 box of Beer Battered Fish
*  a pan of Chicken Enchiladas

What got taken out of the freezer and used...
*  1/2 bag of Ravioli
*  1 large Chicken Breast
*  1 bag of Shrimp
*  1 bag of CA Medley veggies

Last week Hubs picked up 2 items at Walmart, picked up Zero sugar Soda at Dollar General and we both hit Kroger on Wednesday and spent a total of $103.33.
This brings our food/toiletries/paper goods Total to $347.77 for March so far.

There are 11 shopping days left in March.

I've earned $69.46 on Ibotta in March.
I've earned $2.96 on Checkout51 in March.
I've earned $28.50 on Coupons dotcom in March.
I've earned 29,073 points from shopping on Fetch in March.
I earned 691 points from food shopping on Shop Kick in March.
I've earned 517 SB from food shopping on Swag Bucks in March.

That's $100.92 in rebates(not counting the Shop Kick/Swag Bucks/Fetch)on $347.77 in grocery spending so in reality it's $246.85 in food spending after the 3 rebate apps I count.

My savings percentage for the last week was 41.09% and the monthly savings total for March comes in at 35.77% so far.

Leftovers going into this week.....some cabbage, corned beef, broccoli.

Here is this week's "food plan".....
1. Sunday--Chicken Parm, Roasted Asparagus
2. Monday--Lemon Pepper Chicken w/Zucchini in Tomato Sauce, Rice
3. Tuesday--Tacos or Taco Salad
4. Wednesday--Chicken Teriyaki Stir-Fry w/Veggies, Rice
5. Thursday--Dental Work so ??
6.  Friday--Leftovers
7. Saturday--Leftovers

What do I need to buy to fix everything on this menu?  Nothing. Kroger had asparagus and zucchini on sale so I crafted those meals around the fresh produce.  The Taco will use cooked ground beef sitting in the fridge.  Lots of dental work on Thursday(yay me!)so I'll probably be relegated to Jello for dinner and Hubs will have to fend for himself.  If the leftover don't hold out for Fri. and Sat. maybe a Zalad from Zaxby's will be in my future on one of those evenings. 8-)

What is getting fixed and served at your house this week?

Was last week's plan successful, did you go off plan or did you not even plan what was going to be eaten last week?

Any deals on food at your stores this week?

This Week on the Dining Table

 The "WTF?!" Edition...

Standing by the register and talking to some employees last week there I glanced at some of the snacks for sale.  This one caught my eye as it contains "upcycled bananas".  Hmmm, what is an upcycled banana?  A quick Google of the term and it can be anything from the good parts of banana that would otherwise be thrown out, to an "ugly" banana that a store wouldn't try to sell due to it's shape/size.  Perhaps it could also mean a banana peel that is scraped to remove any useable banana pulp from it as well.
Ya learn something every day if you keep your eyes open, right?
And now I can't get this song out of my head! ;-)

You are welcome for the earworm.  And btw-Gwen is married to my 9th cousin, "Mr. Country Music" Shelton through our shared "Soblet" Huguenot ancestry.
Onward to the meal planning!

6.  Friday--Fend for Yourself
7. Saturday--Meatloaf, Collards, Mac and Cheese

This Week on the Dining Table

 The "Back Home and Meal Planning Again" Edition...

My sister in-law is very much into home decoration. She drug me to a Home Goods one day I was visiting, looking for stuff to put on her fireplace mantel to decorate for Fall.  I showed her these skulls with oversized light bulbs in them but she didn't appreciate my input it seems. lolz
I feel like one of these skulls lately when it comes to meal planning....nothing in my head and I need inspiration like a giant lightbulb above me. 8-)
Onward to the meal planning!

This is what was planned--
There was no plan as I was at Sissie's house most of the week and she was in charge of the cooking/meals.  It's nice to have a vacation from life once in awhile. ;-)

And this is what really happened.......

2. Monday--Pork Filets, Mushroom Gravy, Acorn Squash
3. Tuesday--"Must Go" Dinner(assorted items)
4. Wednesday--Meatloaf, Mashed Potatoes, Acorn Squash leftovers
5. Thursday--FFY(home now)
6.  Friday--BLTs
7. Saturday--Chinese Take-out(I had soup and dumplings)

What got put into the freezer last week....
* Nothing

What got taken out of the freezer and used...
* Bacon

I spent $163.48 on food/toiletries/HBA the last 2 weeks at too many stores to name. lol  This brings our food/toiletries/paper goods Grand Total to $345.94 for September. I stayed under $400...go me!

We are on to a new month and there are 27 shopping days left in October.

I've earned $228.48 on Ibotta in September.

Leftovers going into this week....not much I can find.  Hubs did a good job of eating up everything he made.  We are in the process of processing tomatoes from the garden however.  Not sure if I'll "can" them or just put the jars in the fridge.  Depends on how many we get.

Here is this week's "food plan".....

What do I need to buy to fix everything on this menu?  Not a thing.  I'll be trying to stay out of the grocery store this week and eat down the freezer.  The store ads are crap this month.  Weis(PMITA)has gone from a weekly ad to a monthly one(the "weekly ad" is just highlighted specific items from the monthly ad).  I am attempting to take a break from Ibotta in October and I am down to $20 or less in BC on 2 of my Rite-Aid cards(no BC on the other 2 cards).

What is getting fixed and served at your house this week?

Was last week's plan successful, did you go off plan or did you not even plan what was going to be eaten last week?

I went a little wild with food shopping this week. *Sluggy hangs her head in shame.*
We spent a whopping $271.24 on food/toiletries/HBA last week at Target(both in store and online), P and R Outlet, Aldi and Walmart.  No Weis(PMITA)Markets again. This brings our food/toiletries/paper goods Grand Total to $326.50 for June.   Hopefully I'm done with June and can claim it a success in keeping under $400 spent!

There are 2 shopping days left in June.

I've earned $263.24 on Ibotta in June.
I've earned $0.00 on Checkout51 in June.
I've earned $8.00 on Coupons dotcom/Paypal in June.
I've earned 15020 points from shopping on Fetch in June which equals $15.02.
I've earned 5,531 points from food shopping on Shop Kick in June which equals $22.12.
I've earned $25 in Target gift cards.
I've earned $7.44 back in a rebate from Snuggle(hopefully that one pans out).
I've earned 1021 points from food shopping on Swagbucks in June which equals $10.21(if they ever finish fixing my ticket).

That's $271.24 in rebates(not counting the ShopKick/Swag Bucks/Fetch/Snuggle/Target gift cards)on $326.50 in grocery spending so in reality it's $125.06 spent after the Ibotta and Coupons dotcom rebate apps.

My savings percentage for last week was 32.82%(without "regular" Rite-Aid trips)for June and the monthly savings total for June comes in at 51.41%.(w/out R-A).

Leftovers going into this week...some carnitas, 2 helpings of Collards and 1 hot dog.  It's going to be hot as blazes here for late June/early July so I really don't want to cook hot food(or eat it for that matter). bleh.

Here is this week's "food plan".....
1. Sunday--BLT Sandwiches(finally got ahold of a "good" tomato
2. Monday--Chicken Thighs, Zuke in Tomato Sauce, Rice
3. Tuesday--Chicken apple sausage, Sweet Potato Wedges, Green Beans or whatever
4. Wednesday--Salad, Flatbread Pizza
5. Thursday--more BLTs maybe"
6.  Friday--Salad, Whatever, it will be too hot to cook
7. Saturday--Cook-Out at Son's place(I'm not cooking)
You can tell I am not enthused about cooking this week, can't you?;-)

What do I need to buy to fix everything on this "sort of" menu? Not a single thing.  I hope to not grocery shop this week. 8-)))  Sluggy plans, God laughs....

What is getting fixed and served at your house this week?

Was last week's plan successful, did you go off plan or did you not even plan what was going to be eaten last week?

Any great deals on food at your stores this week?
