Dollar General Deceptive Business Practices

Because the South is lousy with DGs, this is a big problem here.  Funny how these stores seem to always proliferate in low income neighborhoods.....I'd need both hands to count the number of DGs within a 6 mile radius of my house.  I watch at the register like a hawk if I step foot in a Dollar General and buy anything.  I've been overcharged quite a bit but if they don't honor the price on the shelf, I don't buy that product and have them put it back.  I inform them on the discrepancy but when I return to that particular store weeks or a month later, the shelf price has not been corrected.  Every other store I buy anything from will honor the shelf price if the item in question rings up higher at the register.(Some states have laws that require a store to honor the shelf price anyway.)
This beef I have goes back to when we lived in PA and I didn't pay as close attention and was overcharged once.  I wrote to the company and basically was told "so sad, too bad" and nobody was going to rectify the situation.  These stores are constantly under staffed on purpose and it's all the employees can do to keep order and the doors open.  It's a very poor business model and I hope more states bring lawsuits against them.

Dollar General Lackluster Clearance Event

I don't go to Dollar General often but the Saturday during one of their Clearance Event weekends do tempt me.  So I went into my local DG on Saturday and scored these deals......

The Hello toothpaste was .80¢ on clearance and a digital $2/1 Q came off making that -$1.20.
The Head and Shoulders Clinical was $2.92 and a digital $1/1 Q and .25¢ of the $5/$25 Q came off making that $1.67.
The Hempvana pain relief was $7.50 on clearance and .99¢ of the $5/$25 Q came off making that $6.51.
The St. Ives scrub was $2.02 on clearance and I had a $1/1 IPQ and another .13¢ came off ($5/$25Q)making that .89¢.
The St. Ives wash was $1.67 on clearance and I had a $1.1 IPQ and another .08¢ came off making that .59¢.
The Clean and Clear wash was $2.86 on clearance and I had a $2/1 IPQ and another .11¢ came off making that .75¢.
The single Glade candle was $2.25 on clearance and I had a $1/1 digital  Q and another .29¢ came off making that .96¢.
The double pack Glad candles were $2.25 on clearance and I had a $1/1 IPQ and another .16¢ came off making that $1.09.
I bought a few other things(tea pitcher, napkins, matches, DDG shaving gream for Hubs, etc.)that got me up to $25 in spending before the $5 Q came off making all this and the other items $20.17 OOP after discounts and qs.

This particular store had can upon can of Pedigree chicken flavor wet dog food on the clearance aisle.  NOTHING on the clearance aisle was marked so  I had to try to scan those items with the app which only works about half the time in this store....can you say "bad wifi signal"? lol  Then I went over to the regular pet food aisle and saw this brand/size can was priced there for $1.95 which made me think the cans in the clearance aisle would ring up .97¢ on clearance at most. HA!

I asked the cashier to price check the items I couldn't get a price on through the app and the dog food rang up $1.95.  I told her that's strange since the same brand/size pet food NOT in the clearance section was priced at $1.95.  She proceeded to tell me the chicken flavor dog food in the clearance aisle was NOT on clearance.  It was discontinued being carried in their store(all the stores?)so they placed it in the clearance aisle since there was nowhere else to put it.  WTF?!?

Now I probably could have called over a manager and pressed my case that I should be allowed to buy that dog food for .97¢ a can given that it was in the clearance aisle but I wasn't in the mood to assert myself as I'd just picked up that case of Kirkland dog food last week at that Liquidator store so I just put it back and didn't raise an issue about it.

Still a few good finds even so.  Did you go to Dollar General and find anything worth buying this past weekend?

This Week on the Dining Table

The "Things Turned Around Quickly Here" Edition.......

That's me after getting my first Covid shot last week.
Last Monday turned out to be a good day....first the dentist had a cancellation so I got my broken tooth taken care of that day and then that night I found a shot appointment for the following evening.  The only negative was that the appointment was a 1.75 hour ride away and we get to do that again in about 21 days. But I am NOT complaining! ;-)

Onward to the meal planning!

Moving On-
This is what was planned....
1. Sunday--Fend For Yourself
2. Monday--Chicken Parmesan, Green Beans
3. Tuesday--Squash Casserole, Tossed Salad
4. Wednesday--Hot Dogs, Sweet Potato Fries
5. Thursday--Leftovers and Cabbage
6.  Friday--Pizza, Salad
7. Saturday--Assorted Leftovers

And this is what really happened.......
1. Sunday--Fend For Yourself
2. Monday--Fend For Yourself(I had garlic mashed taters-broken tooth)
3. Tuesday--Cheeseburgers at BK(we were driving home)
4. Wednesday--Chicken Parmesan, Green Beans
5. Thursday--Hot Dogs, leftover Macaroni Salad
6.  Friday--Broiled Salmon, leftover Sweet Potato Fries, leftover Collards
7. Saturday--Fend for Yourself(I had a big salad/Hubs had chili)

Last week saw 3 nights of home cooked dinners, 3 nights of leftovers/planned overs or FFY, and 1 night of Take-Out/Eating Out.
Not being able to eat "real food" because of my tooth threw the menu off and made for more FFY nights.  I had another salad and veggies for lunches since dinners were light on veggies this week.

We seem to be in a meal rut lately.  I just don't feel inspired to cook.  I've been making stuff Hubs likes that I don't necessarily eat or like(chili, meatballs/spaghetti, taco meat).  I can't just make a little of those things(sort of like making soup)so he eats them over the course of the week(and/or for lunches)and I just find a little something for myself or just eat part of the meal.

What got put into the freezer last week....
*  1 pack of Beef strips(2 meals worth)
*  1 pack of thin sliced Pork chops(2 meals worth)

What got taken out of the freezer and used...
*  Breaded Chicken cutlets
* 1 bag of Mozzarella Cheese
*  a pack of Hot Dogs

We spent $81.63 on food/toiletries/HBA/paper goods last week-1 tiny trip to Weis(PMITA)Markets for salmon and tea, 1 trip to Walmart, 1 trip to Dollar General and 1 trip to Discount Outlet. This brings our food/toiletries/paper goods Grand Total to $216.52 for March so far.

There are 9 shopping days left in March.

I've earned $151.23 on Ibotta in March.
I've earned $.05 on Checkout51 in March.
I've earned $9.00 on Coupons dotcom/Paypal in March.
I've earned 1,130 points from shopping on Fetch in March($1.13)
I've earned 10,200 point from food shopping on Shop Kick in March($40.80)
I've earned 0 points from food shopping on Swagbucks in March.

My savings percentage for last week was 60.19%(without "regular" Rite-Aid trips)for March and the monthly savings total for March comes in at 57.50%.(w/out R-A).

Leftovers going into this week--Chili, Hot Dogs and 2 Chicken Parm.

Here is this week's "food plan".....
1. Sunday--Pizza, Salad
2. Monday--leftover Chicken Parm sandwiches, Asparagus
3. Tuesday--"Sort of" Rueben Sandwiches, sauté Cabbage
4. Wednesday--Beef Stir-Fry w/Noodles
5. Thursday--Pork Tenderloin Sandwiches, Squash Casserole
6.  Friday--Leftovers or Fend For Yourself
7. Saturday--Assorted Leftovers

What do I need to buy to fix everything on this menu?  Nothing though we'll need milk later this week.

What is getting fixed and served at your house this week?

Was last week's plan successful, did you go off plan or did you not even plan what was going to be eaten last week?

Any great deals on food at your stores this week?  Weis deals won't change until April sometime but I'll be doing the rest of the items for the $10 Ibotta March Bonus so there will be spending this week...hopefully not much however.

Weis Markets on Friday & Dollar General on Saturday

I broke my resolve for a low spend week this past week.  I went to Weis on Friday for their one day sale on Ground Beef for $1.99 lb.

Plus the Ibotta Weekend Warrior $3 Bonus on 6 offers was just too good to resist doing.  I already had 1 offer toward it by getting the Nivea men's balm the second time at R-A last week so I only had to do 5 more offers for the Bonus and I had some good coupons to pair with it.  ;-)

2 x Dove clearance shampoo/conditioner($1.89)=$3.78
3 x Lean Cuisine dinners $2 ea. wyb3=$6.00
1 x Truvia sweetener=$3.79
1 x Campbell's slow kettle soup on sale=$2.00
1 x Quaker oatmeal cup=$1.00
1 x Jif peanut butter(not an Ibotta offer)on sale=$2.00
Subtotal.........$18.57

Coupons Used
1 x $1/1 Dove item Weis digitalQ=$1.00
2 x $1/1 Dove hair product IPQ(emailed link by company)=$2.00
2 x Free Item Q from manufacturer(cashier took off full $3.99 value)=$7.98
1 x $1.50/1 Truvia ManuQ=$1.50
1 x .75¢/1 Jif digital Q that doubled=$1.50
1 x .50¢/1 Jif IPQ that doubled=$1.00
Coupon Total........$14.98

$18.57-$14.98=$3.59 OOP.

Ibotta offers submitted for......
2 x $1 Dove=$2.00
1 x $1 LC power bowl=$1.00
1 x $1.50 Truvia=$1.50
1 x $2.49 Campbell's slow kettle freebie=$2.49
1 x .25¢ Quaker oatmeal cup=.25¢
Total........$7.24+$3 Weekend Warrior Bonus=$10.24 back on my $3.59 spending.

With my other non-Ibotta spending at Weis that receipt came to $13.46(ground beef, a pancake mix cup-got .10¢ any pancake item on Ibotta for that too unexpectedly, and 2 cucumbers).  Even with ALL my spending at Weis(PMITA)Markets on Friday after sales/Qs/Ibotta everything in the order came to $3.22 so I'll take that win! 8-)

I also went to Dollar General on Saturday.  I didn't need/have to but they had some good digital Qs and a $5 off $25 shopping trip Q.  This is also the ONLY store that sells cinnamon toothpaste around here(love it!)and a few digital Q were glitching(making some things a better deal)so I caved.......

2 x big Goldfish containers=$7.00
1 x Powerade=.95¢
2 x Gold Peak tea=$3.20
1 x Crest cinnamon toothpaste=$3.00
1 x Mucinex sinus 8 pack=$5.50
1 x Air Wick starter kit=$3.50
1 x Centrum vitamins=$5.25
Subtotal......$28.40

Coupons Used
1 x $5/$25 DGQ=$5.00
1 x $4/2 Goldfish DGQ=$4.00
1 x $1/3 Coke single beverages DGQ=$1.00
1 x BOGOFree Gold Peak DGQ=$1.60
1 x $2/1 Crest toothpaste DGQ=$2.00
1 x $5/1 Mucinex DGQ=$5.00
1 x $2.50/1 Air Wick item ManuQ=$2.50
1 x $4/1 Centrum DGQ=$4.00
Coupon Total.......$25.10

$28.65-$25.10=$3.30+ tax on the AirWick OOP
I had to add the Air Wick because I was .10¢ short of $25 otherwise so wouldn't have gotten the $5 off the total order.

The Powerade, Goldfish crackers and Mucinex will go to Ex-College Boy.  We can always use more vitamins(I was almost out anyway)and the Air Wick will go up in the guest room to be used.  Toothpaste goes into my personal stash. ;-)

BTW-that Gold Peak blueberry tea was pretty good(you can see I had already drank one before I got a photo..lol).  A bit sweet so I'll cut the other one with unsweetened tea before I drink it. 8-)

I spent a tad more than I planned on for the week but I got great value for my $$s so I'm ok with how the week's spending turned out.

What deals are on your radar this coming week?
I need to go to CVS this week(ECBS expiring...bleh)so if you know of any deals there let me know! lolz

Dollar General Pillaging & Shingrix Side Effects

I'm sorry I've have been MIA the last few days.  I got the Shingles Booster shot on Monday and they lied.

The lied that the booster didn't cause as many side effects as the intial shot.  The first shot made my arm hurt for 10 days, no lie.  This shot not only hurts my arm like a sonofabitch but the pains have traveled to my neck and back.  I literally can't find a position I can put my left arm in that doesn't hurt.  I've progressed from ice packs to Ibuprofen to something stronger to get through the day.  I hope tomorrow I can turn the corner and start to feel better.  What makes this worse is that I "mouse" left handed to using th computer has been limited. ugh.

I did hit Dollar General on Saturday to use my last 2 dog treat Qs, the $25 off $5 Sat. Q and take advantage of any digital DG coupons and/or glitches.
My closest DG had no dog treats I could use those Qs with so I punted and came up with a scenario on the fly........

Not pictured are 4 x 6-packs of Diet Dr. Pepper for me and 1 x 6-pack of Dr. Pepper w/Cream Soda for Ex-College Boy.  That deal was 5 for $10.00 and I would have bought this anyway so no harm no fowl.

1 x Old Spice deodorant $3 *Xmas item*
1 x All sensitive detergent $3
1 x Clover Valley sugar $2
1 x Cover Valley veggie oil $1.95
1 x Crest toothpaste $3
1 x Clover Valley brown sugar $1.65
3 x American Greetings cards $1.50 *I needed and they were .01¢ after Q*
2 x Welch's fruit snacks  .64¢
With another .26¢ this would have been $25 and I would have added s bag of Clover Leaf flour to get over $25 with the dog treats.

Subtotal was $24.74 and $35.74 with all that soda.

After Qs my total came to $11.41+.53¢ sales tax so $11.94 OOP.

So basically $1.94 for everything but the soda as I was going to buy that anyway.
And the last thing we need is toothpaste here but I found that cinnamon flavored one and it's my favorite flavor of toothpaste so I am happy to pick that up for less than $1 a tube! woohoo
Some of this will make it's way to the food bank if I can find the time to get there next week.

When I am better and can mouse normally(this has taken me an hour to type!)I'll recount the Rite-Aid my scores there this week and my online order last week which finally arrived and they bolloxed that up big time!

I won't be probably posting on Thursday as I'll be in Hershey most of the day.

Prelude to Black Friday Rite-Aid Haul & the Report on 3 Days of Black Friday Hauls

So I had a $5 when you spend $25 coupon for Rite-Aid that expired on Wednesday.

I was lukewarm about using it as I was saving all my Bonus Cash for the Black Friday sales, but then I hit the clearance shelf at my R-A on Tuesday and found a cool mist Vicks Humidifier/Vaporizer for 75% off.  My store must have found this one back in the storage recently because these went on clearance months ago and I never saw one on clearance back then in my store.

With that $7.49 price I only needed to find $17.51 more to use that $5/$25 q.  Here is what I did on Hubs' card.....

1 x Humidifier 75% off=$7.49
3 x Pringles Wavy on clearance .49¢=$1.47
2 x Colgate optic white toothpaste 20% Wellness disc.=$6.38
1 x Oral-B twin pack toothbrush on sale=$6.99
1 x Visine 20% Wellness disc.=$4.79
SubTotal.....$27.12

Coupons Used
1 x $5/$25 R-A Q=$5.00
2 x $3/1 In-Ad R-A Colgate Q=$6.00
1 x $2/1 In-Ad R-A Visine Q=$2.00
Coupon Total....$13.00

$27.12-$13.00=$14.12+.37¢ sales tax=$14.49 paid for with a R-A gift card.
I didn't earn any Bonus Cash on this transaction but that's ok as I am pleased as punch to get that humidifier so cheaply!  Ex-College Boy will love those Pringles and the rest of this transaction(oral care and Visine)go into the toiletries stockpile for later.

I also earned $3 in cash rebates on the Coupons dotcom app($1/3 Pringles Wavy, $2/1 multi-pack of Oral-B toothbrushes)and $3.60 in Ibotta rebates(.10¢ any item, $2 Colgate, $1.50 Visine)so $14.49 spent but $6.60 back in rebates.

The toothbrushes tracked toward a PandG Spend $30/Get $10 BC Deal too so I spent accordingly to reach $30 to get that BC deal too during the BF sales.

I forgot to use a $1/1 Visine hangtag ManuQ I had so I'll be going back today to do a post coupon and get $1 cash back for it.  After that this transaction will have cost me $6.89.....less than the clearance price of the humidifier.  I'll take it.

As for Rite-Aid Black Friday shopping this year....it was insane!  True there were very few freebies(things that earned you back equivalent funds in Bonus Cash)but instead of a "Spend $40 on stuff in the BF ad/Get $10 back in Bonus Cash" coupon of 2019, there was a "Spend $50 on anything in the store/Get $15 back in Bonus Cash" coupon.  And this was on top of anything that already gave you Bonus Cash in that purchase.
Plus there was a stacking weekly/monthly Deal on the Zim's Max Freeze pain relief.  During the BF sale it was $8 and gave back $7 in BC(limit 2)plus there was a $5 monthly deal on 1(limit 4)so if you bought 2 you paid $16 but you got back $24 in BC(and it tracked toward your spend $50/Get $15 BC too.  The Compeed was a great deal on Thursday(especially if you had the ManuQs-I did not-and there were Ibotta rebates).  Also the almost or free Colgate toothpaste had Ibotta rebates which made them large moneymakers until Ibotta pulled those rebates as well.

Then me and a bunch of people who are die-hard Rite-Aid fans figured out that there were TWO different Spend $50/Get $15 in BC coupons-one in the weekly ad and one in the Black Friday ad and they had different bar codes so you could use one Q on a transaction of $50 and then use the other one on another transaction. So there was double opportunity to get free BC this year. 8-)))

On Thursday I ran up to Rite-Aid early in the morning to do the Home Despot gift card deal on each card....Spend $100 Get $20 in Bonus Cash.  I do this gift card every BF sale because we spend $$ at HD on house stuff anyway so why not get the deal and have basically free Bonus Cash to play with?

I also did 2 transactions on Thursday, spent at least $50-one on my card and one on Hubs' card and used a $50/Get $15 Coupon on each transaction.

Back again on Friday and/or Saturday after the $20 from the Home Despot gift cards kicked into the accounts and did another transaction on each card, using the BF ad Spend $50/Get $15 Qs.

Here is everything I got on my card during those 3 days of the BF sale.........

I used a total of $121.11 in Bonus Cash for all this.
I earned a total of $104 back in new Bonus Cash, a $5 Catalina for buying the 7th Gen laundry detergent and $8.65 in Ibotta rebates($5 Compeed, $2 Colgate, $1.55 cereal, .10¢ any item).
After all was said and done I was "down" $3.46 for these transactions.

And here is everything purchased with Hubs' card.........

I used a total of $95 in Bonus Cash for all this.
I earned a total of $100 back in new Bonus Cash, a $5 Catalina for buying the 7th Gen laundry detergent and $5.50 in Ibotta rebates($2 on each Listerine item, $3 on each Purex item and a .50¢ Listerine Bonus).
After all was said and done I was "up" $15.50 for these transactions.

I ended up finishing up the Spend $30/Get $10 BC PandG Deal on Hubs' card(the Tide, Pantene and multi pack Oral-B toothbrushes above).   I hit 3 different Rite-Aids over the course of the 3 days in order to finish up/find what I wanted.  I had to go to a bigger store to find the coffee Monster drinks for Ex-CB and to find another set of Conair/Scunci freebies and Baby Ruth candy bars.  My store had very few of these things and started Thursday with no Baby Ruth bars but the bigger store was still loaded with much more on Friday.

On Saturday I went to CVS after debating on whether to go or not during the BF sale there.  I didn't have any ECBs expiring until 12/11 but what the heck. ;-)

We get take-out from Applebee's as it's one of the few restaurants still open here so I did the gift card deal(would spend cash there anyway so why not earn $25 in ECBs to get some stuff?).

I wasn't there to get any gift sets or other giftie deals, I wanted to get the freebies after ECBs and practical stuff for us.
The Colgate, cleansing wipes and CVS Acetaminophen were free after ECBs.
Unfortunately I didn't have that BOGO or B1G2F Babo TP CRT so that cost me $7.99 for both packs after ECBs and BOGO sale but that's ok by me.
The razor was .99¢, the toothbrush was an .81¢ moneymaker, the Joah cosmetic items were $2.98 for both, and the Eucerin was $8.98 for both after all Qs, CRTs and ECBs earned back.  There was also .31¢ off (40% off of one item)but I can't tell which one from my receipt. lol
I rolled $46 in ECBs and earned back $43.19 in new ECBs including a $3 Beauty Buck(plus I have an older $5 ECB left)so I didn't spend my ECBs down at all in the end darn it!  CVS has me in their snare.....argh
I spent $3.85 OOP also on all this(not including the gift card)besides all the Extra Care Buck action.

Then on the way home from CVS I stopped into Dollar General to see what deal I could make up using the $5 off $25 Saturday Q.......

I had a $3/2 Vaseline IPQ and 2 x $2/1 DentaLife dog treats ManQs but otherwise all the other Qs used were DG digital ones.
I spent $5.97(.22¢ was sales tax)OOP for everything, a savings of $26 according to my receipt.  rah.
Not a bad haul to finish off all the Black Friday weekend shopping madness. 8-)

Did you get any good shopping deals during the Black Friday weekend?
Tell us all about it!

I Hit Dollar General Again Last Saturday & Rite-Aid on Monday

Since there were a few deals there(with their digital Qs)plus the $5 off wyspend $25 I decided to hit the DG that was second closest to my house instead of the smaller one in town and I am glad I did as they had a few things my store doesn't carry.

Here is what I got.........

1 x Simply Tide 89 load jug=$8.95

2 x Old Spice body wash $4.50 ea.=$9.00

1 x Suave men's =$3.00

1 x Dentalife dog treat=$1.00

1 x Suave professionals shampoo=$3.00

1 x Suave body wash=$2.00

SubTotal.........$26.95

All digital DG Qs used

1 x $5/$25 Q

1 x $3/1 Tide big jug Q

1 x $5.49 BOGOFree Old Spice body wash Q

1 x $1.50/1 Suave men's Q

1 x $1/1 Dentalife dog treat Q

1 x $1/1 Suave Professionals Q

1 x $1/1 Suave body wash Q

1 x $2 Instant Savings off when you spent $6 on Suave(which I did)so another $2 off my total.

Q Total,,,,,$19.99

$26.95-$19.99=$6.96 +.42¢ sales tax=$7.38 OOP for everything above.

Nice seeing as the regular price on the Tide is $8.95. ;-)

They were out of the moneymaker Bic razor(after digital Q)at this store and my store(since I checked on my way home)but that would have made my total $7.10 for 8 items but I'm happy with what I got.

That Tide vanilla and orange is a new scent(and I snagged that last jug of it there!).  Anybody try this scent yet and is it good?

Then I went to Rite-Aid on Monday and got my free toothpaste and toothbrush........

The Crest toothpaste and mouthwash(select types)and Oral-B toothbrushes(again select types)are $4 this week.  There are $1/1 L2CQs on all three products this week and the items give back $3 in Bonus Cash so free in the end.

Unless.........you find items that are less than $4 after your 20% Wellness Discount(which these two were=$3.75 each.)then they are a .25¢ moneymakers each. 8-)))

I also found these Clean and Clear face products on clearance for 75% off at my store and I had a $2/1 L2CQ as well as a $2/1 IPQ for them.

$2.84 on clearance so after $2 Q they were .84¢ each or $1.68 total but add in my .50¢ moneymaker on the oral care items and I paid $1.18 for both with Bonus Cash I had so $6.68 paid in BC for all and $6 in BC earned.

I also earned toward both a Crest and an Oral-B Bonus Cash Challenge I have on my card too.

Win/Win/Win!

Dollar General & Rite-Aid Last Saturday

On August 1st I made a quick run to the Dollar General Store in town and tried to put together a transaction to use my $5 off $25 Coupon.  I've been watching some YouTube DG vloggers to see what would be free or cheap using mostly digital DGQs.
Of course my store didn't have certain of those free/cheap after Q products or I didn't get certain DG digital Qs so I had to make it up as I went along.
Let me add that Ex-College Boy had moved out the previous day taking with him a portion of my stockpile for him and his new apartment mate.  Mostly it was foodstuffs we don't eat(or only eat sporadically)but he also took a part of my toilet paper and facial tissue stockpile(the boy can go through paper goods like nobody's business!lol)so I was looking for a deal on tp especially.

Here is what I got...........

3 x Scott 12 roll tp $5=$15 *$3 off Instantly when you spent $15 on Kimberley-Clark paper goods so it was $12 total
2 x Rice Chex boxes $2.25 ea.=$4.50
3 x select GM cereals $3 but $2 ea. wyb3=$6.00
1 x Ivory body wash aloe scent=$1.50
1 x 32 pack Arm and Hammer laundry pods on sale=$3.95
2 x travel size Head and Shoulders $2 ea.=$4.00
SubTotal...$31.95 *with the tp instant discount*

Coupons Used
1 x $5 wyspend $25=$5.00
1 x $1/2 GM cereals DGQ=$1.00
1 x $1/2 GM cereals IPQ=$1.00
1 x $1.25/1 Ivory body wash DGQ=$1.25
1 x $2/1 Arm and Hammer laundry pods DGQ=$2.00
1 x $3/2 Head and Shoulders DGQ=$3.00
Coupon Total........$13.25
*And $16.25 with the $3 Instant Discount on tp*

$31.95-$13.25=$18.45+.45¢ sales tax=$18.80

I restocked on tp and cereals(the Reese's will go to the local food bank or Ex-CB), the little Head and Shoulders were .50¢ each and will be stocking stuffers come Xmas, the 32 pack of laundry pods was a great deal at $1.95 after DGQ(the smaller 17 ct. packs were the same price after DGQ!) and the body wash was .25¢ after DGQ(some stores this body wash is only $1.25 reg. price but not mine so it might be free after Q at your store).
I didn't get the Bic pencil DGQ that would have made those free, and my store doesn't stock the $1 Denta Life dog sticks I had IPQs that would have made those free, the 7 oz. Dawn for $1 that would have been 75¢ after DGQ or the $1 Crest variety that their $2/1 DGQ was attaching to which made it a $1 moneymaker.
But I think I did ok considering 3 big packs of tp! ;-)

Then I went to Rite-Aid for a quickie...........hehehe

4 x Cold-Eeze drops 75% off(reg. $8.49)$2.12 each=$8.48

I used 4 x $2/1 Cold-Eeze IPQs from their website so $8 off, making my total .48¢ which was paid with Bonus Cash.
Hubs loves this stuff for when he gets colds in the Winter so we are well supplied now.
Lots of cold and flu OTC meds are on clearance at R-A right now.
It seems like they are slowly resetting all the shelves at Rite-Aids, department by department this Summer so check out all the clearance in your store.

That's the extent of my shopping so far this month.

It's Thursday Already?

This week is just slipping away from me.

My prayers and hug go out to our Cheap Chick blogger in Canada.  I hope they caught it early and her prognosis is good and she'll be with her hubs, her mom, her step kids, her Buddy and back to our blogging family for years to come.
Please keep her in your thoughts as I will!

Last Saturday we had lots of excitement in Sluggy's Teeny Tiny Town.  First I went to Dollar General and bought this........

$28.50-$25.00=$3.50 + sales tax
I had another $2/1 Biofreeze IPQ but forgot to  use it so I could have gone down to $1.50+tax. duh

Then later that day we had a black bear traipse through our back yard.  Our neighbor, "Mr. Tree Hater" who cut every tree down on his property also keeps his garbage cans outside next to his house so Mr. Bear had a nice early dinner buffet out of his cans then wandering over to see what he could find for his dessert in our yard.  Hubs and I were upstairs screaming at him out of both bathroom windows to "git!" while Chester set off his alarm/barking system downstairs.  Eventually Mr. Bear wandered off back into the woods behind the houses on the main road into our development and darned if I didn't get a photo of him between all the shooing him off.

Then I saw a small rabbit on the front lawn enjoying all the clover that's shot up there and couldn't get a good photo of him due to the window screen.
See?  Even if I remember my camera I am thwarted at every turn. lol

On Sunday I bought the items above after discovering that the small Total SF advanced whitening tubes that the $5/3 Colgate toothpaste L2CQ applies to this on sale $2.99 tube which you can also use the $1/1 R-A in-ad Q on.

3 x Colgate toothpaste on sale $2.99=$8.97
2 x Venus single smooth sensitive Razor on sale $7.99=$15.98
SubTotal....$24.95

Coupons Used
1 x $5/3 Colgate select toothpastes L2CQ=$5.00
3 x $1/1 Colgate select toothpastes R-A in-adQ=$3.00
1 x $4/1 Venus razor L2CQ=$4.00
1 x $4/1 Venus razor Insert Q=$4.00
Coupon Total.....$16.00

$24.95-$16.00=$8.95+.48¢ sales tax=$9.43 paid with Bonus Cash and $8 in new BC was earned on the 2 razors.

I did this same deal again but the next time one of my razors also had a $1 Peelie Q on it and the cashier manually pushed that additional $1 off through so my total was $7.95+.42¢ tax so $8.37 paid for with BC and earned another $8 in new BC.

I went to Weis this week and Walmart too.  Whoopee Do!

The garden is growing well now.

My spinach barrel needs clipping and using as it's starting to bolt.
I'll replant in the early Fall more greens.

The collard plant in the kennel garden is taking off whereas the plants next to the deck are fighting for space with the morning glory vines.

We've now got baby yellow squash too

We've also got baby tomatoes now(see one in bottom right of this photo).

We need to replace our recliners in the den and ventured into a furniture store here to have a look.

I liked the smaller profile of this one and the color(grey).  The controls are electronic and located around that cup holder on the left(there is even a blue light you can activate in the cup holder?)

The color on is one was acceptable though not my favorite and it has a wider profile.  It has a hand held electric control device and even better-it has a lumbar support button so is even more comfy that the other chair.

But this bad boy stole my heart.  It's a love seat w/two recliners.  The color is more to my liking than the other two, each seat has a cup holder, there is a phone dock and usb in the center.  The arm opens and the electronic control device stores in each arm.  In the middle is another lid that opens to a storage area and the back middle between the seats also opens upward to reveal 2 led lights(and a switch to dim those).  Need I mention this love seat also has a lumbar support function too?
Sigh.
But the cost is this is $400 more than buying two of the more expensive chairs above.
So decisions, decisions.

Other than that I've been laying in bed with my leg on the heating pad or parked in the recliner.

The meal plan this week has gone to shit.
And frankly I don't care. ;-)

So what's life like in your neck of the woods?

Dollar General Clearance Event Scores

The Big February clearance event at Dollar General this past weekend(50% off all clearance + anything with a clearance % off on the shelf also was another 50% off)meant I had to go poke around.
We don't have large DGs here and a lot was already gone when I got there Sat. am, the sale having started on Friday, but I did find a few goodies.............

4 x Herbal Essences coconut milk shampoo clearance price $2.25=$9.00

2 x Little Tree 1 pack car deodorizer clearance price .45¢=.90¢
4 x Bath Fizzy packs clearance price .45¢=$1.80

Grand SubTotal....$42.80

Coupons Used
1 x $6 when you spend $25 DigitalQ=$6.00
2 x $5/2 Herbal Essences items(1 ManuQ/1 DigitalQ)=$10.00
4 x $2/1 Biore face item ManuQ=$8.00

1 x $1/1 Thermacare PeelieQ=$1.00
1 x $3/2 Febreeze items DigitalQ=$3.00
2 x $1/1 U Kotex pads ManuQ=$2.00
Coupon Total........$32.29

$42.80-$32.29=$10.51+.86¢=$11.37 Total OOP

The HE shampoo and the Biore items gave me $3 in overage after those Qs.  (4 x Herbal Essences @ $2.25=$9.00-2 x $5/2 Qs($10)= negative $1.00 and 4 x Biore @ $1.50=$6.00-4 x $2/1 Qs($8)= negative $2.00).
After Qs, the tampons were $2.37 each, the pads were .80¢ each, the Febreeze car deodorizers were .75¢ each and the Thermacare  lotion was $1.25(before applying a percentage of the $6 off when you spend $25).

The razors, the paper products, the Little Trees deodorizers, the bath fizzies and the jug of Ajax had no Qs and were all just on clearance.

The bath fizzies were a leftover Xmas item and will be heading into Giveaway boxes later this year.
I would have bought more of the Ajax dish soap if they had more than one because it was a great price for that size jug even without a Q!

The things I am keeping for our use-the car deodorizers, the Thermacare lotion, the Ajax dish soap and the paper napkins and bowls so that's $5.79 OOP from my grocery budget.
The Kotex items are for eldest son's GF and the rest are going into giveaway boxes later this year.

Did anyone else hit the Dollar General clearance sale and what did you find?

About The Giveaway, Ibotta Weekend Warrior Bonus, Weis & Rite-Aid

Ok, some of ya'll must think I have magical powers.
I'm a savvy shopper but do you really think I got all this for $1-$5 total?........

Dang!  I wish!!
Now if it had been Rite-Aid, weeeeeell...........lolz

Let's see some higher guesses going forward, ok?

Here is the list of what is in the photo.........

Regular retail of all this at Dollar General is in the neighborhood of $200.
Of course I didn't spend that after coupons and clearance prices but it wasn't anywhere near $1-$5. ;-)

Everything was marked a % off on clearance(between 10% and 50%)PLUS another 50% off that price for the Clearance Event.  I used $5 in digital DG Qs on 5 of the items, plus since it was bought in two different stores/two different trips I also used 2 x $5 when you spend $25 Sat. Qs.(I bought other things that got me over $25 subtotal but for Giveaway purposes I am applying the whole $5 off $25 Qs just to the items pictured above.)

***************
I happened to be near Walmart last Friday and there was a $5 Weekend Warrior Bonus on Ibotta so I went to see what I could score with my Ibotta app and my trusty pencil case of coupons.

Then ,25¢ any yogurt, a .50¢ Axe Bonus and $5 for the WW Bonus came off. 8-)))

The only item we won't eat/use is the Knorr ready-to-eat side so that goes into the food bank donation box(and it's the type of thing my FB always asks for along with condiments, kiddies foods and cold cereal).

Speaking of kiddie foods, the Oral-B toothbrush rebate was back in my Ibotta gallery so I hit Weis up and bought this on Sunday........

6 x Spaghettios $1 on sale=$6.00

I used

$11.67-$7.00=$4.67 paid OOP
I earned back $5 in Ibotta rebates($1 Spaghettios wyb4, 3 x $1 Oral-B, $1 Feb. Level 2)so after rebates this was a .33¢ moneymaker.
Sweet!

The Spaghettios are heading to the food bank with the Knorr side. ;-)

And while I was out I hit Rite-Aid too on Sunday........

2 x Nivea lip balm on sale=$4.00
I used a $2/2 ManuQ so $2.00 after Q.
I used the last $1 in Bonus Cash on Hubs card to pay and put $1.12 on one of my free R-A gift cards.

Frugal Friday....the February 14th Edition

Another loop around to see what frugal wins we had this past week at Chez Sluggy...........

*  I got the Weis(PMITA)Markets Freebie last Friday............

A bottle of hot sauce.
Yep, this will be used. ;-)

*  I forgot to mention on last week's FF post that I had done the Weis Pepsi-Fritos-Lay Super Bowl Deal from the previous week of "Spend $25 on select P/F-L items, Get a $5 OYNO Catalina".  The Cat didn't print on the transaction that hit the $25 mark, so I got this instead at the Customer Service desk.............

It's now tucked into my refund/rebate/post coupon envie to put toward the food budget later this year.

*  I found a bunch of clearance at Dollar General last weekend.........

All this chili came out of the food monies at .39¢ a can.

And a few things among all these toiletries also got applied to the food/toiletries spending.  The rest will be gifts, for giveaways or I might sell some of them locally once the Holidays roll around this year. ;-)

* I found money!

At the Dollar General I hit on Saturday in town.  2 pennies and 1 dime all found in different parts of the store on the floor.

And 2 pennies at the DG I hit on Saturday South of town.  One found inside and one found on the sidewalk out front.

And this pitifully rock salt encrusted penny(bet you couldn't tell it IS a penny!lol)outside the building at Rite-Aid when I went to get my drugs there for this sinus/ear gunk infection on Sunday.

I found 2 pennies when I went back to Rite-Aid to return and buy different make-up items on Tuesday...........

Both were near the check-outs.

Then at Weis(PMITA)Markets afterwards I found these 2 pennies wedged into the scanning machine at the self-checkout.................

At least I didn't have to bend over to score these two. lolz

On Wednesday I went out for awhile to hit some stores.............

I found this penny on the floor at Aldi's by the shelf where you bag your groceries.

I found 3 pennies in or outside of Walmart. (1 inside the store by a display, 1 by the soda machine outside the door and 1 next to my car in the parking lot.)

I also found another penny at Ollie's(Good Stuff Cheap!)..........

This was on the floor by the check-out register.  I saw 10 customers step over/on it while checking out before it was my turn to pick it up! lolz

Total Found Money this Week.... .20¢
Total Found Money for 2020......$42.62

*  I got all this from Rite-Aid this past week.........

Returned the 2 eye brow pencils pictured above and bought these 2.......

Spent $30.36 in BC and free gift card scrip.
Earned $24 in new BC.
I also earned .45¢ in Ibotta rebates on sll this(.25¢ Dunkin Coffee, .20¢ Buy Any Item).

*  I needed a phone case for my new phone(we changed phone companies thus new phone).  Instead of paying $20+ in the store for one I liked I ordered this one through Amazon............

of course, it's Purple!!! lolz
And I used a piece of an Amazon gift card(that was a gift)so free.

*  Hubs and I went out to lunch on Thursday to Bob Evan's.  I got my big salad with chicken and Hubs also got a big salad.  I almost fell over when he ordered one as he NEVER does. *thud*

I used a $5 off wyspend $25 Q which covered the tip.  The waitress also gave me a full to-go cup of iced tea when I asked for a cup to take the rest of my tea refill home.  A cup and a refill in the restaurant plus a full to-go cup of tea meant my $2.79 tea cost less than $1 a cup in the end.  ;-)

*  Best deals last week..............

Marked down whole roaster chickens with $3 off instant discount stickers as well, made the cost less than .52¢ a lb.
Then there was all this at Weis(PMITA)Markets....

 And all this at Walmart........

After Ibotta rebates I "spent" $14.90 w/sales tax for all that.

On Wednesday I bought what's pictured above at a different Weis that's larger than ours.
All these items(plus a second package of Ball jars I forgot to put in the photo)gave me a total of $8.75 in Ibotta rebates($1 Spaghettios, 2 x $1.25 Ball jars, .50¢ Propel water, .75¢ Musselman's, 4 x $1 Oral-B toothbrushes). I also earned the .50¢ Feb. Level 1 Bonus and the $10 Cupid Love Bonus so $19.25 back in rebate monies.

$15.56 OOP after $9 in ManuQs(well $7.56 really because the ball jars don't come out of the food budget) so after sales/Qs/rebates I spent negative $11.69 on all this. 8-)))

The best were the toothbrushes that were on sale for $1.89 each, gave $1 Ibotta rebate cred each and there was a $6/4 Crest items Weis digital Q!
$7.96-$6Q=$1.96-$4 Ibotta rebate= -$2.44. for the toothbrushes. 8-)))

That's about all I can remember frugal that happened last week.

Any frugal wins in your world lately?
Tell us all about it!
