Frugal Friday.....2 Fridays Worth of Weeks the Sunday June 27th Edition

 I know I've been MIA a lot lately.  Between bathroom renovation, organizing stockpile sale, going to Boston for awhile, mailing out the June Giveaway Box(it should be on the way Debbie!!!), doing stuff for Hubs for Father' day and having the stockpile sale again plus all the other Real Life stuff, I just haven't had time to blog but in spurts and fits.  Things should settle down shortly but I have lots of chores to do here including still changing out my Summer clothing.

As I was up near "Bastahn" last Friday the 18th I owe y'all two Frugal Fridays so here goes............

Week of June 11th to 18th--

* I only spent $27.64 on groceries in that time frame.  Too overwhelmed with finding what to wear to the funeral and other things to go out and spend money.  Hubs just ate what was here and didn't starve. lol

* I got a $26.61 refund at Rite-Aid on the 12th. *sorry no photo of that*

* I found money!

I found .76¢ at Rite-Aid. as the customer 2 people in front of me threw his coin change on the counter and left.  The person checking out in front of me ignored it.  When my turn came I said, "I will save this abandoned money!" lol

Then while unpacking my computer bag at the hotel outside of Boston I heard jingling in one of the pockets.  Opened it up and .44¢ fell out on the desk.  Hmmm.  Now this is the same bag that went with us to Ocean City in 2019 and I found cash in it then.  I thought when I got home I had thoroughly searched...

Either I hadn't actually OR the alternate explanation is that Kim's Sissie had planted change in the bag as I brought it to her house in May on our beach trip, left it downstairs and she had access to it for most of my stay at her house.  And after she left that quarter on my bed when I got there so I had a head start beating Kim at the "change finding adventure" I am thinking it's Sissie's doing. 8-)

Total Found This Week...$1.21
Total Found This Year.....$5.36

* Having to make a last minute trip to Boston is not frugal in itself but I drove my little purple car so the gasoline bill was not as bad had I taken Hubs car and when I had to refill I looked for lower rate stations.

* I saved some money on eating while away.  I took breakfast with me on the trip there and spent $1 on a large iced tea at McDonald's.  One of my other cousins took me, my aunt and his granddaughter out to dinner Thursday night and paid.  I did the free hotel breakfast(and paid a $2 tip to the server since with Covid there guests can't go into the room where the breakfast buffer is laid and she has to bring what you want out to your table).  After the funeral mass there was a catering reception at a restaurant my cousin lived when they lived in this area of MA.  I paid $3 with tip for a ginger-ale.  I could have gotten ice water or coffee for free but opted not to.  The buffet was good but smallish and personally I didn't feel like eating much at this point after the day's "activities".  I did try to sneak two small portions of a 3 ft. sub sandwich(it was cut into 2" lengths)into my purse to take back to my room so I did have to go out and pay for more food that night.  I only had some unused Kleenex in my purse and the napkins there were cloth so I couldn't wrap them in anything but the clean Kleenex. After taking my aunt home and checking in with her sons I was indeed famished so I stopped at a nearby Micky D's for iced tea, a hamburger happy meal w/milk and apple slices and I treated myself to a small cone($7 total).

  I had forgotten about the sub pieces until I smelled them.  I took them out and salvaged the turkey and cheese but the veggies and bread were beyond saving.  So I had a turkey and cheese hamburger.  Here is what came out of the bottom of my purse when I got home even after cleaning it out in the hotel room!

Now my Vera Bradley purse smells like an Italian Deli.  Time to wash that baby! ;-)

I skipped the hotel breakfast having saved my apple slices from dinner to have before I hit the road on Saturday for home along with a bottled tea and ice water I had brought with me.  I made one stop for food in NY at a Mickey D's we stopped at in 2018(near where my 4x GGrandfather is buried).  Last time here I had found a boat load of change in the drive-thru but alas, I got skunked this trip.  I did get another Iced Tea and 2 of those fruit pies(apple)they sell($3 spent).  This made my food spending $16 for the entire trip. :-)

NOW LET'S MOVE ONTO..............
The week of June 19th to 25th

* Back home and I hit the grocery/rebate app deals with a vengance given I hadn't spent $122.06 through the first half of June.  There was a Target online on some foods.  My total came to $62.44 before discounts and digital coupons and I paid $60.92.  I have gone over what my total should have been three times and even with tax and the discounts it's suppose to be $53.25.  I did ear $20 in gift cards($5 dog treat deal, $5 wys $15 drinks, $10 wys $50 on food)but still.  I need to contact them on the errors.  I had 3 items in my order that were cancelled....perhaps they still charged me for those?

Hubs and I also did a Target in store shop, spending another $39.39 and getting a $5 Gift Card and I've sent for a full price rebate of $7.44 on the Snuggle.  We hit P and R outlet, then I hit Aldi and Walmart in the town south of us so tomorrow's food spending for the week will NOT be pretty. lol
But I did get a LOT back via the rebate apps and finished a ton of Bonuses on Ibotta.

* I found money!

This lone penny at Rite-Aid on the 22nd on the hand sanitizing station base back by the Pharmacy so I could pick it up an conveniently sanitize it. ;-)

Back at R-A on the 23rd for something and I found a quarter sitting on the walkway at the entrance right next to the trashcan outside!

Found Change This Week.... .26¢
Found Change This Year.....$5.62

*  We've been washing/drying clothes in the evening as usual as we get a time of day discount during certain evening hours from our electric provider.

* Other than taking Hubs out for his Father's Day meal on Thursday there has been no Take-Out/Eating-Out food.  He was Jonesing for Mexican so that's what we got(even though it's not high on my list as an eating out option.  He got to pick and I paid. yay.

* I had a refund of $8.10 at R-A and then a $1 post Q situation there last week so $9.10 cash monies back in my pocket too.\

* Just setting up for another Stockpile Sale on Saturday and getting my back to stop hurting took up a lot of my week otherwise which kept me from shopping more(thank Goodness!).

Ok, now my frugal things are all caught up.  Now I need to go clean....desperately!

How was your past 2 weeks?  Any frugal wins!  I'd love to hear them!!

Frugal Friday....the March 26th Edition

Here are the few things that qualified as frugal wins over the past week here in Sluggyland.........

*  I forgot one thing from a couple of weeks ago(some days I really miss my mind!lol)--We had a 15% off Ollie's(Good Stuff Cheap!)discount coupon to use.  Hubs found flea and tick treatments for a ridiculously cheap price(compared to buying it from the vet's office) + the additional 15% off so I made him buy enough boxes of it to get us almost through all of 2021.  It just makes sense as it was a great discount(and it's one we've used before so we know it's good), it doesn't take up a lot of space and it won't expire before we use it up.
Score!

*  I hit Rite-Aid a few times this week..........

See previous posts on R-A for details on all this.

Needless to say I didn't spend anything out  of pocket there.

*  Hubs and I went to Ocean State Job Lot on Monday to pick up a new dog tie-out for the backyard.  I used one of my free OSJL gift cards(earned from buying food off the Eat Free Table-you pay for those purchases and get a gift card equal to what you spent).  I have so many of those gift cards we used part of one for the tie-out even though I prefer to use them on food.

I did pick up some food while we were there too.  The 3 bottles of oyster sauce and the Jordan almonds cost ZERO because I used some off a free gift card on those.
The other 4 items to the left were on the Eat for Free Table...2 cannisters of Ocean Spray Vanilla Chai flavored dried fruits and nuts, a jar of orange marmalade and a bag of dark chocolate w/lingonberries.
Those 4 cost $11.96 total out of my food budget and earned me back an $11.96 gift card. ;-)
And that vanilla chai trail mix stuff is SO GOOD!

* I forgot to mention yesterday when I wrote this post that on last week's trip to the Discount Outlet we got 2 freebies..........

A couple of packs of Gerber baby food.  I added this to the food bank donation pile which I am hoping to drop off this coming week.

*  I found money!

I found this nickel at Rite-Aid last Saturday by the front register counter.

Then I found this penny at the check-out in Dollar General later that same day.

I was back at Rite-Aid on Monday and found this .16¢ in change in front of the second register counter on the floor.

Then I found another penny back by the vitamin aisle too.

I was back at Rite-Aid to pick up an Rx on Wednesday and found 2 pennies where the shopping carts are corralled.

Total Found This Week.... .25¢
Total Found This Year.....$1.90

Other than working on an Ibotta $10 Bonus(I need 1 more item to finish and then I'll post about that) that's it from here for this past week(and beyond).

Any frugal wins on your end lately?
We want to hear about them all!

Frugal Friday.....the March 13th Edition

Oh Goody!
Friday the 13th so let's recount this past week's frugal wins to scare off the evil spirits(and the online trolls that seem to be virulent lately) ;-)

Here's a photo I snapped yesterday of the paper goods aisle at my local Weis(PMITA)Markets.............
Just a few rolls of paper towels and down at the end some facial tissue.  I can't believe there was facial tissue left since it's just like TP just a little more expensive.

Onward to the frugalness..........

*  I got the Weis Friday Freebie last Friday.........

A box of Weis brand Hamburger Helper.
We don't care for this but the food bank likes to get it so off it goes in my next load to them.

* Hubs and I used a gift certificate won at the Church auction last Fall for a new BBQ joint in town for dinner on Tuesday.  We split a beef brisket dinner and after applying the gift cert. it cost us $3.18 OOP for dinner.

*  I found money!

A penny next to my favorite self-check out machine at Weis on Friday.

I did a load of laundry and found all this in the washer afterwards.  Sluggy's house rule, "I do the laundry and I keep the change you leave in your pockets", makes me .37¢ richer. tee hee

My trip to Rite-Aid garnered me .12¢ on Tuesday.  Each coin was found at different locations in the store.

On Thursday I found a nickel by the ATM at Rite-Aid when I went to pick up an Rx..........

Don't know why there since ATMs only give bills back, not change. lol

Then at Weis(PMITA)Markets later that day I found this..........

a dime right near the door where you walk in, under a display of Wonderful Pistachios.

It was a great week for finding change here!

Total Found Money this week...... .65¢
Total Money for the Year so far....$43.81

*  I earned $12.45 total in Ibotta rebates this week.

*  The deals I got at Rite-Aid.......

Total spent in Bonus Cash $16.33
Total earned back in BC $26.50 and in Ibotta Rebates $2.00 back as well.

My Weis deals above cost $24.44 OOP
I earned back $3.70 in Ibotta rebates on all this.

*  Hubs and I went to Bob Evans for lunch on Wednesday, the last day the $X off Q I had was good before expiring.  I got my usual big salad but this time Hubs, true to form did NOT get a salad too.  He opted for a meatloaf dinner this time.

That's about it for me this week.

What frugal wins did ya'll have?

Frugal Friday.....the December 7th Edition

Let's see what frugal goodness happened around Chez Sluggy this past week.........

*  I forgot to mention this last month--I printed out my $5 eVisa card.

This was earned from buying 4 SC Johnson items(Glade/Ziploc/etc)in one transaction earlier in November.

*  Speaking of rebates I earned $46.20 in variousIbotta cash rebates this past week.  $24 of that was for those Neutrogena lip balms(6 x $4)and a bit was on Olay(2 x $3)and waiting for that particular rebate to appear back on my list of eligible ones.  A small piece was for items bought at Weis(Life cereal and Ajax dish soap).  I earned $1 on SavingStar also.
A good week for rebating here! ;-)

*  I found some money!

Waiting in the drive-thru line at Mickey D's on Sunday I spied 2 pennies next to the building.  The line was very sloooooow so I jumped out of the car and picked them up to give them a good, loving home. lolz
Not much change found it's way to me this week.....oh, well.  Some weeks are like that.

*  I got the Weis Friday Freebie item last Friday............

A block of cream cheese which is much appreciated in this house.  ;-)
Remember to check your grocery account at whichever store you frequent to see if there is a freebie you can use this week!

*  The clearance pumpkin flavored cereals at Weis(PMITA)Markets that were marked down to $1.88 per box are now $1 per box at my store, which means after stacked WeisQ/ManuQs they are FREE!
No photo but I picked up 6 boxes for free this past week.  Woohoo!

*  I got these items for .29¢ each at Weis recently as well..........

Unilever is revamping their Suave brands website and they sent me a link to a page of Suave Qs to print.  One Q was for .75¢ off their body wash and Weis had it on sale for $1.79 per bottle.  My Qs doubled to $1.50 so I got each of these for .29¢ each.  Not free but almost.  ;-)

*  Here's just some of the stuff I pillaged from Rite-Aid this week.........

I'll post about all the goodies I've gotten so far this week in a later post.
Today and Saturday R-A is doing another 30% off Friends and Family Sale around here.  Not sure if this one is nationwide or not but I got a coupon for it on my first trip there this week.

*  Hubs and I finally got up to the Christmas Tree Shops in the city North of us this week.
I saw this on the shelf...........

$9.99 for a 5 oz. bottle of real Vanilla extract.  I didn't buy it.
Tell me....is this a good price nowadays for vanilla?  I have no clue.

*  I hit Dollar General last Saturday to get some discounted gift cards.

The deal was 15% off if you bought Cracker Barrel/DQ/Burger King/Red Lobster and maybe Ruby Tuesdays?
I bought $100 worth total so paid $85 for all.  Daughter's birthday is coming up this month and she wants to go to Red Lobster so that was a no-brainer.

*  Speaking of discounted gift cards, I also sent for $300 worth of Target gift cards and paid $270 for those.  I don't shop Target much and I usually use free gift cards there acquired using credit card points but I couldn't pass up this deal.

* Not sure if you can still do this......if you have a Kmart near you(that is not closing)and you are a Shop Your Way Rewards customer, there is/was a $5 off $5 purchase coupon available via text message(the Q expires today-12/7/2018).  Go read about it HERE.
I loaded it to my phone and will go down to Kmart today if possible.

That's about it for me this week.
Remember to heed the advice of the "World's Most Frugal Man".............

Tell us what frugal wins y'all had this week!  8-)

Frugal Friday.....the September 28th Edition

Here's a few things we did this past week that were frugal.......

* I went to Weis and got the Friday freebie last Friday....

A can of chicken broth.  Geez, what a GREAT freebie.....not even a carton of chicken broth.  Can you spare it Weis? lolz

* Gas Points are expiring middle of next week.  Since we won't be here or near a Weis(PMITA)Markets then Hubs and I took our cars up to Weis and filled out.........

No point in letting a .30¢ discount on gas go to waste, right?

*  I found money!

Another penny in the Rite-Aid parking lot.  At this rate I'll have a dollar by 2022!  lolz

*  The lip balm from Kellogg's arrived this week........

Gotten for free from buying 2 boxes of Special K protein bars this Summer.

*  Here I am with my Basil Tree yesterday.........

Since the weather is questionable for when we get back from Maine I pulled this sucker up, plucked all the leaves off and made Pesto with it.
An hour later and very little work, I had 3 containers of pesto for the freezer.

*  We picked what will probably be the last of the tomatoes this week............

31.3 ounces.  I won't be able to update the Garden Totals until we get back but I do know it's well over 100 pounds now.

That's about it from me.

What frugal wins did you have this past week?

Frugal Friday.....June 15th Edition

Here are a few things we did that were frugal this past week.............

*  I earned a whopping .25¢ cash rebate on Ibotta.
Go. me. lolz

*  Hubs picked up the Friday Freebie last Friday at Weis.

Free applesauce cups?  Yes, please!

*  Weis was out of the BOGOFree Butter(8 oz. packs)last week's 3 Day Deals so I had Hubs get me a rain check and when he had to go back to Weis on Saturday he thought to get me another rain check for it, giving me two rain checks.........

Gotta love a man who gets rain checks! ;-)

*  I sold 4 packs of diapers this week.

$22 in my pocket selling something that cost me NADA!

*  More things from Rite-Aid for "free" this past week.....

*  Here is what I bought at Weis this week......

The ice cream and OJs were part of the Buy 6/Get $3 Off Deal so $15.94 for those plus I used 4 x $1.25/1 Qs for the Magnum so $10.94 OOP for those 6 items.  (It's too bad I don't like that ice cream....too much chocolate, not even ice cream IMHO.)  The bag of spinach was 1/2 price and I used one of my butter rain checks(see above)so $4.73 for 4 x 8 oz. packs plus another .96¢ off the butter since it was Senior discount Tuesdays( and a Weis branded product)so I paid $3.77 total for all the butter, making it less than $2 a lb.
I'll be sure to use the other rain check on Tuesdays so I get an additional 10% off those butters too.  8-)

*  I got home and discovered that the cashier at Weis had rang up FIVE butters not Four so when we were out Wednesday running errands I stopped in and got my money back.........

I tired to explain that no, they didn't owe me $2.50 but less due to the Senior Discount but the CS guy couldn't wrap his head around that fact so I got the whole $2.50.
$2.50 back into my grocery budget?  Works for me! lolz

*  While doing a much neglected house project, cleaning out the laundry room, I found this.....

.10¢ of found money added to my wallet.

*  Hubs and I hit Ollie's(Good Stuff Cheap!)on Wednesday.

Didn't get much in the way of foodstuffs.......3 Jello(Peach), Garlic(2 ways), Parsley, Ranch dressing, 2 Parmesan shakers, lemon custard for pie and then Pop-Tarts for Ex-College Boy and Mocha Frappe mix for the 2 kids.  $23.11 on food and we picked up a couple books, a new non-stick skillet, a tablecloth and some doggie treats.

*  Hubs and I had lunch out at Bob Evans on Wednesday after hitting Ollie's.  I drank water so didn't pay $2.49-$2.69 for a drink!  And I used a coupon for $4 off our meal which covered the tip amount.

*  Hubs clipped Chester's nails and I cut Chester's hair this week and he'll be getting a bath soon too.
Having a puppy we were able to get him acclimated to having these things done to him while he is/was young so it's pretty easy to perform them(except that he is still a puppy and can't hold still).
Why pay money at a pet groomer when we can do these things ourselves?

Other than lunch out we didn't do anything special this week.

What frugal wins did you have lately?
