Frugal Friday....the February 28th Edition

Checking in on the frugal stuff from last week and here we go!

* I got the Weis freebie last Friday.........

A box of pasta.
Always a popular item with my Hubs! lolz

*  I made $5.07 in Ibotta rebates since last Friday. See a previous post on that.  8-)))

* The best deals found at Weis(PMITA)Markets this past week...........

$46.07 paid OOP for all, $5.07 earned on Ibotta(3 x .97¢ cup o noodles, 2 x $1 Cottonelle, .10¢ any item).

* I've earned $91.44 in Ibotta rebates in February and only spent $406.39 OOP.  Not bad, huh?

* I found money!

This penny by the self-checkout in Weis last Friday.

This shiny fellow at Rite-Aid on Saturday near the register.

This dime tried to avoid capture also at Rite-Aid on Saturday back in the Pharmacy area.  It was on the floor behind the holder thing with the handheld shopping baskets in it.  But I spied Frankie there and took him home with me!

This penny was found in the foyer, near the gumball machines, of the Hibachi restaurant where we took Ex-College Boy for his birthday meal out on Monday.

And these two pennies were found in the self-checkout area(one in front of the machine next to the one I used and the other tucked beside my machine between the small waste basket next to that register and behind a display rack at the entrance to that area.

Total Found Money this week...... .15¢
Total Found Money this year.......$42.91

* Speaking of eating out, here's a tip.  Go out to lunch instead of dinner to save money.  We wanted to do an early dinner for Ex-College Boy's birthday meal out.  We didn't realize it but they have the hibachi thing on their lunch meal for about HALF of what they charge during dinner hours.  I figured you'd get about half the amount of food(which would have been fine with me)so I told Hubs to ask about getting the dinner size portion for him and EX-CB when the waitress came to take our order.
But of course he didn't ask so we all got the lunch hibachi.
Turns out it's basically the same amount of food(just a few less pieces of whatever protein/meat you choose).

You can see the full plate Ex-CB had.  He was wondering why I was taking his picture while he tried to eat. lolz
The meal also came with the regular salad and miso soup too so other than the price being lower nothing different from dinner time so it was a DEAL!
We'll be going there for lunch now instead of dinner(and it's not crazy crowded either midday like at night).
I saved about $40 on this one meal going during lunch service.

That's about it for me this past week as I stayed home besides going to Weis and Rite-Aid.  I'll be going to R-A today and/or Saturday to do my weekly deals there as it's 30% discount off reg. retail there this Fri./Sat. so those deals will go on next Friday's post.

Any frugal wins in your world this past week?

Frugal Friday....the June 7th Edition

Here's what frugalness happened around here at Chez Sluggy.........

*   My car was finally low on gas so I headed to Weis and used my second Bonus Cash Reward Prepaid Debit Card I had earned at Rite-Aid back in Feb.

The $20 on the card didn't quite fill my tank (just under 7 gallons)but it was close.

*  I hit the Bread Outlet this week.............

$4.98 for 3 large loaves and a bag of stuffing cubes.

*  I found money!

At the register tucked in the corner under the counter at Rite-Aid when I was spending the last of the Bonus Cash attached to one of my Wellness cards.

*  I went through the bags Daughter and Ex-College Boy threw into the Salvation Army pile before Hubs and I carted it all off and came up with these books.......

3 books I can add to my reading pile.  Not having to haul to the library and/or scour Ollie's for inexpensive books is always a good thing.

*  I had a $5 reward at Kohl's that was expiring last Friday.  I really didn't feel like going so I handed it to Hubs and said go buy yourself something cheap. lolz

He found himself a brown belt for when his current belt bites the dust.  After the $5 reward it cost him $4 and change for this $30 belt that was on clearance.

*  I got the Weis Friday Freebie last week.......

A single serve bottle of milk.

*  Among the improvements we are doing in the house are new window blinds........

Three rooms got them and Hubs hung them all.  They were free as we used a Lowe's gift card I sent for using some of our credit card points.

*  We got free sandwiches from McDonald's on Thursday...........

Well not exactly free but close!
McDonald's was doing a promotion for their International menu items.  Bring in any foreign currency and you can get 1 of the 4 items.
Hubs and I both took in a Canadian penny.

Hubs got the Canadian Tomato Mozarella Chicken sammie and I got the Spanish Grand McExtreme Bacon Burger sammie.  Mine had smoked Gouda cheese which was quite the upgrade from a regular Mickey D's burger bomb. lolz
My sammie is regularly $5.82 w/tax.  I'd never pay that kind of money for this.  It was far from worth almost $6.

Funny story here.......I had gone to this McDonald's at lunch time on Thursday to get an Unsweet Tea after filling up my gas tank.  I asked the gal working at the window if they were doing the promo w/the foreign currency and she said yes but not 2-5pm like every other store was doing but 5-7pm.
I asked her again to confirm it, she confirmed, I took my drink and went home.

So Hubs and I went up shortly after 5pm.  The gal at the counter inside took my order and I handed her my CDN penny.  The manager had to come over and key in something because technically I wasn't paying anything(it was free), she rolled her eyes and told the counter gal that this was the last one being as it was after 5pm.  The gal said the guy behind me also had foreign currency to pay with(Hubs)and the manager said ok, after him no more.

So I told her what the lunch time gal had told me(about this store doing it 5-7pm instead)and she rolled her eyes at me.  Evidently the lunch/afternoon folks were misleading people who asked and telling them the wrong/later time but nobody on the dinner/late shift was told the time was changed.

I didn't realize there was a big snafu over this because when I handed the cashier/counter gal my penny she had said to me that I was only the second person who had taken advantage of this promo of a free item.....which led me to believe that the store had just started taking foreign currency at 5pm.

Then the eye rolling and remarks of the manager clued me in. lolz

But y'all KNOW I would have raised hell if they had denied me after being told by an employee earlier that day that I was there at the correct time to do the offer!lolz
But no worries, we got our free burgers and no blood was split in the process.  ;-)

So that's it for me.

What frugal goodness happened to ya'll this past week?

Frugal Friday............the May 31st Edition

Not much going on around here this week except lots of storms and rain.

Oh, and two days of tornado warnings...eek!

We didn't go much of anywhere(Rite-Aid, Ollie's, Weis, Red Robin and meet-ups with buyers)and spent the week cleaning and decluttering mostly but we still had a few wins........

* Hubs picked up the Friday Freebie last week at Weis(PMITA)Markets.....

a can of wet dog food.
Whoopee....but still something Chester might enjoy. ;-)

* I found money!

.06¢ at Rite-Aid when I went in to pick up an Rx.

And .03¢ at Ollie's by the bubble gum machines on my way out.

*  I sold more diapers this past week......

6 more packages last Friday............

And 4 more packages on Tuesday.
That makes $50 this past week, $30 the week before and $35 the week before that one so $115 in sales for May for things I got for free at Rite-Aid.

I don't put these sales toward the grocery spending for the year like my other "small economies" but put it aside to use at my discretion.
Woot!

* Hubs went on Monday and used my .30¢ worth of gas points and filled up his car.

*  I used some cheap canned peaches and pantry items I had to make a Peach Cobbler for Memorial Day dinner.............

*  Hubs and I hadn't been out to eat in awhile so we went to Red Robin when running errands on Thursday.

We got that tower of onion rings something we've never gotten there but have wanted to try.  It was yummy.
Thursdays in May at Red Robin have been Throwback Prices meaning select items on their menu were 1990's pricing.  The onion rings were part of the pricing so now you know why we finally got those. lolz

The onion rings were $3 off, the RR beer Hubs ordered was $3.99 off and the Bacon Cheeseburger I ordered was $3.99 off.  Of course Hubs had to be a jerk and order a burger that was regular price because I was paying. lolz

Here's what our bill came to before the Throwback Thursday discounts.  It was over $38 for 2 burgers, a beer and onion rings.......eek!

And here's what we paid.............

$10.98(plus the tax on that amount)less due to the sale so $27.43.
And I used a gift card bought last year or the year before(I can't remember which)to pay.

That's about it from here.

What frugal wins did y'all have this week?

Frugal Friday......the January 25th Edition

Another week, a few more frugal things.
Here's the skinny on what went down last week.........

*  I found .02¢ last Friday at Weis(PMITA)Markets.

Then I got too much  change at Mickey D's on Saturday when Kim had to make a Diet Coke run.

My change should have been .15¢ but the gal gave me .20¢ back.  I had shoved it into my coat pocket and didn't look at it under we got home so I am counting that extra nickel as found money! 8-)

I made another trip to Weis on Tuesday and found more money!

A dime under the bubble gum machines.  Luckily I had my cane with me to retrieve the coin and didn't have to resort to crawling under the machines. lolz
That makes .17¢ for the week. ;-)

*  I got the Friday Freebie at Weis.......

a container of oatmeal.  I consider this a good freebie.  And it actually rung up correctly too for a change.

*  I used my free Purina dog food coupon they sent me........

*  I spent A LOT of money on groceries at Weis this past week.  We're talking $200 worth. Ouch. But I'd rather pay $200 and get good deals we'll use than wait and pay $300 later buying this stuff at regular price.

Last Friday's trip was a mangled mess though.  4 of my Qs wouldn't scan so the cashier manually put them in.....and didn't double them.

So I had to go over to CS and get $3 back.  I wanted her to put a credit on my c/c but she gave me cash before I could say something.

Then I went over my receipt and found the organic pear halves on clearance rang up full price.  So I had to go back in with the pears and receipt, take a photo of the shelf tag and get a refund from CS.
One can was free($1.97 back)and the other can I got the .99¢ I overpaid back so $2.96 went back on my c/c this time.

*  I had a free lunch on Thursday.

I have a Red Robin loyalty club thing so I get a free burger during my birthday month.  I had water w/lemon to drink so my meal was totally FREE(except for leaving the tip-I used some of my WAM for that).  I had an old Red Robin gift card so paid for Hubs meal with that.

*  I paid the garbage bill last week.  If it's paid in full before January is over you get a free month of service.  Hey!, $28 saved is $28 saved.  8-)))

What frugal wins did y'all have this past week?
Let us know how you stay frugal......

Frugal Friday......the January 18th Edition

Let's see what frugal wins we had this past week here at ol' Chez Sluggy......

* I got the Friday Freebie last week at Weis(PMITA)Markets........

A whole cup of yogurt.
This has got to be the cheapest freebie they've had at .50¢.
Gee Weis, could you at least have given away TWO cups and made it a whole dollar's worth?!? lolz

*  I received $7.30 back in cash rebates on Ibotta.  2 rebates on any items and $7 for buying 7 Lean Cuisine meals.  They were part of the "Buy 6/Get $3 Back Deal" last week so were $2 each after that so $1 each after rebate.  Nice on something the Daughter wanted me to buy anyway.

*  I found money!

A whole penny.  Not a good week for finding cash on the ground and I didn't go out much either so not many chances to find any.

I don't remember where it was found as it was last weekend so it was probably at one of the only two places I went-Rite-Aid or Weis.  ;-)

*  I found some good grocery deals last week...........

Small bottles of Texas Pete were $1 each at Weis.  I had .55¢/2 Qs that doubled to $1.10 so each bottle was .45¢ after sale and Q.

Finlandia spreadable butter was on clearance for $1.74 and I used a $1/1 ManQ so .74¢.
The pumkin spice LOL butter spread was also on clearance for $1.29 and I used 2 x $1/1 IPQ so .29¢ each after sale/Qs.

Annie's mac and cheese were $1 at Weis on sale and I had .50¢/2 Qs that doubled to $1 so these were .50¢ per box after sale and Q.  If I had found the Healthy Bites magazine in my store, there is a Weis Q for .50¢ Annie's in there and they could have been almost free w/stacked Qs but .50¢ a box will have to do. ;-)

*  I received a Q from Purina in the mail..........

I don't usually but this kind of dog food but for free we''ll give it a go.  8-)

*  Remember those smashed up glass candles I received from Bath and Body Works?

I finally got through to them on the phone to complain about the 3 candles that got smashed.  They sent me two replacements and credited me for the third candle as they were out of that scent until next Christmas.

The candles arrived last week and intact for a change.   Won't be ordering those through the mail again......

*  I remembered to pick up more postage stamps before the price increase.........

I picked up a big lot in November when the Holiday stamps came out and I picked up another chunk this past week so we should be good now.  I got $100 worth total so am saving $10 buying them before the .05¢ price increase next week.  It's not much but it's something and tying up $100 in stamps isn't putting a crimp in our finances so why not?
Be sure and get stamps before the 27th.

*  And to proof that I am the Queen of Frugal(like anyone had any doubts on that score by now, right? lol)here is something I picked up this past week..........

The bakery dept. at Weis had this sheet cake marked down 50% off on Tuesday so I had Hubs buy it and have them write on it(in purple).
The cake is pretty ugly IMHO and the decorating is messy but at half price it is a gorgeous thing of beauty! 8-)))
If y'all were here I'd invite you all over for a piece!

That's it from here this week............

Tell us your frugal wins and remember to stay the frugal course!
