Onward to the meal planning!

5. Thursday--small tv dinners(I had chicken alfredo with broccoli and noodles), Green Beans(Hubs "cooked")
6.  Friday--Pot Pies(Something easy from the freezer)
7. Saturday--Chicken Marsala, Mashed Taters, Broccoli

Last week saw 1 night of home cooked dinners, 2 nights of leftovers/planned overs or FFY, 2 nights of frozen meals, and 2 nights of Take-Out/Eating Out.
We had to go North for my 2nd Covid shot on Tuesday so we stopped on the way home for an early dinner at a pub with a scenic view.  Wednesday I wasn't up for much of anything but sleep and I don't know what Hubs ate(we had a few leftovers and I had bought him burritos at Walmart the week before).  Hubs heated up small tv dinners and a box of frozen green beans Thursday and we had pot pies from the freezer on Friday since I went out that day and it wiped me out(plus my chicken cutlets hadn't thawed in time to cook them that night).  Saturday I made a "proper" dinner....the first one all week! ;-)  It was a dismal culinary week meal-wise but we ate food and lived to tell the tale. lolz

What got put into the freezer last week....
*  2 packages of Chicken Cutlets(w/discount stickers and BOGO)

What got taken out of the freezer and used...
* 1 package of Chicken Cutlets
* 1 box of Green Beans
* 4 small pot pies
* 2 small tv dinners
* 1 bag of Broccoli

We spent $119.22 on food/toiletries/HBA/paper goods last week. This brings our food/toiletries/paper goods Total to $259.33 for April so far.

There are 11 shopping days left in April.

I've earned $228.47 on Ibotta in April.
I've earned $5.00 on Checkout51 in April.
I've earned $18.00 on Coupons dotcom/Paypal in April.
I've earned 522 points from shopping on Fetch in April(haven't submitted all my receipts yet tho).
I've earned $31.80 worth of points from food shopping on Shop Kick in April.
I've earned 1,234 points from food shopping on Swagbucks in April.

My savings percentage for last week was 54.98%(without "regular" Rite-Aid trips)for April and the monthly savings total for April comes in at 67.19%.(w/out R-A).

Leftovers going into this week--a helping of Lasagna, a little Broccoli and Taters and 3 small pieces of Chicken Marsala. Another week where I have to cook a lot.

Here is this week's "food plan".....
1. Sunday--Shrimp and Crab Ravioli in White Sauce, Tossed Salad
2. Monday--Caesar Salad w/Chicken Strips
3. Tuesday--Salmon, Sweet Potato Wedges, Brussels Sprouts
4. Wednesday-- Teriyaki Pork Stir-Fry w/Rice or Noodles
5. Thursday--Leftovers
6.  Friday--Tacos or Taco Salad
7. Saturday--Fend for Yourself

What do I need to buy to fix everything on this menu?  Might need more stir-fry type Veggies.  Otherwise everything else is coming out of the freezer/fridge/pantry.  It's not an exciting food week but it will get the job done.

What is getting fixed and served at your house this week?

Was last week's plan successful, did you go off plan or did you not even plan what was going to be eaten last week?

Any great deals on food at your stores this week?

Frugal Friday............the May 31st Edition

Not much going on around here this week except lots of storms and rain.

Oh, and two days of tornado warnings...eek!

We didn't go much of anywhere(Rite-Aid, Ollie's, Weis, Red Robin and meet-ups with buyers)and spent the week cleaning and decluttering mostly but we still had a few wins........

* Hubs picked up the Friday Freebie last week at Weis(PMITA)Markets.....

a can of wet dog food.
Whoopee....but still something Chester might enjoy. ;-)

* I found money!

.06¢ at Rite-Aid when I went in to pick up an Rx.

And .03¢ at Ollie's by the bubble gum machines on my way out.

*  I sold more diapers this past week......

6 more packages last Friday............

And 4 more packages on Tuesday.
That makes $50 this past week, $30 the week before and $35 the week before that one so $115 in sales for May for things I got for free at Rite-Aid.

I don't put these sales toward the grocery spending for the year like my other "small economies" but put it aside to use at my discretion.
Woot!

* Hubs went on Monday and used my .30¢ worth of gas points and filled up his car.

*  I used some cheap canned peaches and pantry items I had to make a Peach Cobbler for Memorial Day dinner.............

*  Hubs and I hadn't been out to eat in awhile so we went to Red Robin when running errands on Thursday.

We got that tower of onion rings something we've never gotten there but have wanted to try.  It was yummy.
Thursdays in May at Red Robin have been Throwback Prices meaning select items on their menu were 1990's pricing.  The onion rings were part of the pricing so now you know why we finally got those. lolz

The onion rings were $3 off, the RR beer Hubs ordered was $3.99 off and the Bacon Cheeseburger I ordered was $3.99 off.  Of course Hubs had to be a jerk and order a burger that was regular price because I was paying. lolz

Here's what our bill came to before the Throwback Thursday discounts.  It was over $38 for 2 burgers, a beer and onion rings.......eek!

And here's what we paid.............

$10.98(plus the tax on that amount)less due to the sale so $27.43.
And I used a gift card bought last year or the year before(I can't remember which)to pay.

That's about it from here.

What frugal wins did y'all have this week?

This Week on the Dining Table

The "Still Hobbling Around" Edition......

Look at all those ripe tomatoes still on my plants!  I wish I could get out there and pick them so I can can them.....sigh.....

Here's what was planned last week--

Sunday--Leftovers (I had my leftover Chinese Food.)
Monday--Leftover London Broil cut thin for beef hoagies(with caramelized onions and melted provolone cheese), stir fried Green Beans
Tuesday--Roasted Chicken with Onions & Carrots, Stuffing(for the menfolk), Cranberry "Glop"
Wednesday--Frozen Pizzas(I can have a small piece), Caprese Salad
Thursday--Broccoli Casserole, maybe Pork chops if I can dig them out, Applesauce
Friday--no clue but will probably involve tomatoes and/or green beans lolz
Saturday--ditto

And here's what actually got eaten--

Sunday--Leftovers (I had my leftover Chinese Food.)
Monday--Leftover London Broil cut thin for beef hoagies(with caramelized onions and melted provolone cheese), stir fried Green Beans
Tuesday--Roasted Chicken with Onions & Carrots, Stuffing(for the menfolk), Cranberry "Glop"
Wednesday--Frozen Pizzas(I can have a small piece)
Thursday--I was the only one home for dinner so I made a piece of fish, and green beans.
Friday--BLTs, yet again....lol and Broccoli Casserole
Saturday--Hubs had leftover chicken and broccoli casserole, I had a turkey sandwich and salad.

Through Wednesday was on plan and then the wheels flew off the bus. lol  We didn't get take-out or spend on more groceries at that point, deciding instead to work on eating some leftover and surplus tomatoes and beans and going to the freezer/stockpile to see what we could find.   It all worked out for the best. 8-)

As for food spending last week.....I spent $100.86 on $197.03 worth of groceries at 2 stores and the farm stand.  Actually Hubs spent the $ as I was in no shape to go shopping(except for riding out to the farm).  I have $193.67 remaining of my $400 September food budget with 6 days to go in the month.

As for food waste, nothing last week. 8-))
Leftovers going into this week--still more green beans and tomatoes from the garden.

Here's this week's meal plan---

Sunday--Pork Chops(freezer), Green Beans(garden), leftover Stuffing, Applesauce(from stockpile)
Monday--Dinner at TGIFridays(I had an appetizer and water, Hubs had a burger and iced tea.)
Tuesday--Roast Chicken(freezer), Brussel Sprouts(freezer), leftover Applesauce
Wednesday--Halushki(noodles from stockpile, cabbage from farm stand) with Bacon(freezer)
Thursday--Rigatoni w/Meat Sauce(meat from freezer/pasta from stockpile/sauce made from stockpile ingredients), some veggie from the freezer OR Fend for Yourself-not sure which yet
Friday--No plan yet, eating out
Saturday--My brother will probably want to eat at a pizza joint so not sure what I'll get there.

On the shopping list......I cooked a chicken breast for lunchmeat so no deli meat will be bought this week.  What I need to buy to prepare the meals above are a head of cabbage(picked up already at the farm stand).  That's it as I have everything else either in the stockpile or freezer.  I do need to pick up some staples we are out of like cornstarch, vinegar(on sale this week), yogurts for me(on sale this week), milk and a bag of dog kibble.  I'm still in no position to do a full-on grocery shop so I don't foresee spending more than $25 at the grocery store this week.

That's what's appearing on the kitchen table this week here at Chez Sluggy.

May Food Spending Week 2, Meal Plan Week 3

Yes, the above picture is me in regards to my meal plan for the week.

All the kids are now home, plus #1 son's girlfriend.
I have no idea how or what to plan since they all seem to be moving in different directions at all times of the day and night.  I never know who will be here for which meal and I sure don't want to way over buy/make for meals and have tons of leftovers in the fridge when 2 of them leave later this week, leaving me only 1 person who actually likes leftovers still home.   sigh

And here is the meal plan that actually happened last week.....

SUNDAY--Kielbasa on rolls, Roasted Corn
MONDAY--Chicken Parmesan, Grilled Asparagus
TUESDAY--Bacon Lettuce & Tomato Sandwiches
WEDNESDAY--Not sure, scrounge what is here Night?
THURSDAY--Chinese take-out
FRIDAY--Roast Chicken, Carrots, Potatoes
SATURDAY--Beef Stroganoff, Corn on the Cob

5 nights of new meals and 1 nights of leftovers and take-out for 1 night.

The weekly food spending was $53.86 this past week.  #2 Son requested a meal that required me to purchase meat and sour cream at full price.  I also bought potatoes, onions, carrots, mushrooms, lettuce, corn on the cob, 6 cartons of orange juice, strawberries, eggs, ice cream and milk and all but the milk and ice cream were on sale.

I never did get to the restaurant supply store for the chicken breast deal or the 5lb. block of cheese this past week.

Value of food bought was at $90.22 so my savings rate was 40.30% for the week.   Total spending for the month to this point is $147.65.  Plenty of cash left in the budget for the rest of May.
************************

In terms of leftovers, I'm going into this week with a big pile of Beef Stroganoff and 2 ears of corn.  We also have some leftover meats from Sunday's cook-out.

This week, it's crazy around here.  4 16-21 year old persons with 4 different schedules.  Then there is Hubs and I.

This week's menu.....

SUNDAY--Beef and/or Elk burgers and/or dogs, potato salad, baked beans, pumpkin pie
MONDAY--Leftover Stroganoff or something else they can scrounge
TUESDAY--Chicken Enchiladas
WEDNESDAY--Out to Eat
THURSDAY--Sloppy Joes, Brussel Sprouts
FRIDAY--Freezer Surprise *I clean out the back of the freezer and cook something.lol
SATURDAY--Leftovers
This menu gives us 4 new meals and 2 nights of leftovers and 1 night Eating Out.
This week we have a varied number of diners depending on the night.

As for items I need to buy for this week......ground beef, rolls.
We'll be buying milk as usual, along with some fruit bars and ice cream.
Weis has some Instant and regular type Catalina deals this week(Unilever, Nestle, Kimberly-Clark).  I may or may not do them.  I am just feeling blah lately in regard to grocery shopping and deals.
Ok, I'm feeling blah about everything lately.  I just don't want to do anything....

So what is everyone else eating this week?
