Frugal Friday....the May 22nd Edition

Looking around here and this is what we did that was thrifty this past week...........

 * Remember those two rotisserie chickens we bought last week for $3.99 each?

One was eaten that night for dinner plus we had leftover meat from it.  I also had a handful of red grapes getting long in the tooth in the produce drawer.
So we combined those with the chicken, a handful of pecans, chopped celery, salt, pepper and mayo to make Chicken Salad for lunch on Thursday.  We have enough left for 2 more lunches. go us!
No money spent and using up what we have.
The other rotisserie chicken is in the freezer to be remade into a dish another day. ;-)

* I found money!

This shiny dime greeted me on the floor in front of the register counter last Saturday at Rite-Aid.

Total $ Found This Week...... .10¢
Total $ Found So Far This Year.....$45.18

*  I already showed what I got at Rite-Aid last Saturday.........

Nothing spent OOP.

* I did a big shop at Weis this week too.  Here are the best deals I got........

These 1 lb. bags of Carolina Blend rice(Jasmine and Long Grain)were on clearance 50% off for $1.25 each.

I got there just after the meat guy put out a gazillion 1 lb. packs of grass-fed ground beef.  They all had $3 off instant stickers on them so instead of $5.99 per 1 lb. they were $2.99 per lb.  The regular Weis beef was $6.29 per lb. so I scooped up 5 of those grass-fed packs at that price!
I also found ground turkey 1 lb. packs with $2 off instant stickers on them so instead of the sale price of $3.99 they were $1.99 each!

I found two of these Oikos blue label yogurt cups on quick sale for 50% off at .50¢ each.  I only have a photo of one because Hubs ate the other one already....this is the man who NEVER eats yogurt!  lol
I also used a .65¢/1 Oikos blue label IPQ which fully doubled to $1.30 off so I got paid .30¢ to bring these yogurts home. ;-)

And all this was bought for the Ibotta weekly Buy 8 items/Get $5 Back Offer.
There are only 7 items because they didn't have anything else I wanted at that Weis that qualified.
I'll get a Carvel ice cream Cake later today at my Weis to finish off this deal.
$28.83 spent plus another $14 after $3 Q for the ice cream cake for the cookout=$42.83.
I'll get back $8.05 for these 7 items plus another $2.60($2.50 cake, .10¢ any bag of chips I plan to buy for the cookout)and $5 for buying 8 items.
$42.83 spent, $15.65 back(plus 2 Giveaway entries on Ibotta)=$27.18 OOP on all this and an outrageously priced ice cream cake. ;-)
*  The only shoes that fit my wide feet are Easy Spirits.  They use to have outlets all over the place were I could get them for cheap but alas! All around here(Rehoboth DE and Reading PA)have closed up so I am reduced to buying them online.
My every day shoes are about shot so it was time to bite the bullet and buy some shoes.  They had a Mother's Day Sale(30% off even the sale priced pairs)plus free shipping so I ordered 8 pairs.  6 arrived(the new to me sandals didn't fit right so they are going back in the mail)but they didn't ship the last two pair I ordered(they were mauve!).  I checked my c/c balance and there is now a $96.60 credit on my card for the 2 pair they never shipped.  I suppose they were out but Easy Spirit never emailed me about it, just gave me back the credit.  asshats! So I am out $227.50 for 5 pairs of new shoes(3 clogs and 2 slip-on sandals).  I got a good deal and I can throw out 4 pairs of shoes now and won't need to buy shoes again for 2 years.

*  I had Hubs go up to Price Chopper Thursday and buy 3 lobsters.  They had a flyer Q to get it for $5.77 lb.  A great buy but lobster at any price is far from a cheap dinner.  We paired it with corn on the cob for $1 for 6 ears(another flyer Q)which was inedible unfortunately.  They will be getting an email over that wasted $1. ;-) But the lobster was yummy and bonus--Ex-College Boy didn't want his so I get to eat that leftover one for dinner tonight on Fend for Yourself Night....woohoo!

That's about it for  me this week other than watching lots of shows on Roku and Amazon for free and some book reading for entertainment.

What frugal wins did y'all have this past week?

Frugal Friday.....the May 1st Edition

Well I did go out this week grocery shopping on Wednesday to Weis(PMITA)Markets and then to Rite-Aid, then after I posted my food spending totals on Thursday we went out to PandR discounts and Maines the restaurant supply store(so I'll put those 2 shops into May's total).

So let's see what was frugal(or approaching frugal)this past week..........

*  I went to Weis this week after 5 weeks of avoiding it like the plague(pun intended).  Here are the best deals I got there........

The OEP items were "Buy 4 boxed or canned items/Get a free bag of cheese". The 4 items were $5 total so $5 for all 5 items.  The cheese is almost $3 a bag here if bought alone so I'm ok with this deals.
The organic Francesco Rinald sauce was on clearance $1.50 per jar.  I redeemed a .50¢/2 Ibotta rebate so 2 jars cost me $2.50 total.
I had a coupon for .75¢/1 Domino golden sugar that doubled to $1.50 off so it cost $1.19 OOP.
I bought lots more including 5 tv dinners and a bag of croutons which were part of a Mix and Match Buy/Get $3 Back Deal.  I got a piece of Salmon(it was $1 more per lb. than last month), my Stress Rx tea was on sale 2/$5, 2 lbs. of butter for $2.50 each, etc.

*  I finished my Allegra SavingStar Deal at Rite-Aid this week..........

Earned $21 between Ibotta and SavingStar and paid with BC so Zero OOP on this.

*   I found money!

Rite-Aid was a jackpot for me this week!

This penny was found in the parking lot, worse for the wear but still spendable.

These 3 pennies where found by the  registers.

And this slightly out of focus dime was found in the greeting card aisle(which I detoured down to avoid other customers).  Lucky me!

Found Money This Week...... .14¢
Found Money This Year so far....$45.05

I also found this penny..............

I thought it was a fifth penny for the day but when I dug it out from behind the floor mat it was one of those souvenir "squashed" pennies.  This one is from Ohio and has the state bird, a cardinal, on it.

I laughed at this because I sort of collect these!

Here's the one I "squashed" from Buc-ee's in Alabama Lorraine took us to in January.

Here's the one from the amusement park we took eldest and his GF to last Summer-that's the ride we all went on.

Here's the Mad Elf penny from when Hubs and I went to Troegs Brewing last Spring after my medical appointment at Hershey Medical.

And here's the penny I squashed when we went to see "Carhenge" in the Summer of 2017.
(This reminds me I STILL have to recount our 2017 Summer Road Trip for the blog.)

*  I found a few deals yesterday at the restaurant supply store and the discount food store.......

Liquid whole eggs for .50¢ a quart and 4.5 lbs. of sour cream for $3.99 at the restaurant supply.
The asparagus was $1.29 at the discounters.  Now I have to find containers to put the sour cream in and ways to use it up! lol

We went to the restaurant supply to see if they had any more of those small steaks I got earlier in April.  Something they called "Coulotte" Sirloin steaks........

They had 3 packages left so I bought them all as these are the most tender steaks we've ever had.  The price wasn't bad either at $5.99 lb.
I've repackaged them and we have 4 meals for the 3 of us out of this buy.  I also had 1 small piece left I can make a steak sandwich out of for a lunch for myself. ;-)

I found a loaf of PF oatmeal bread at the food discounters for $1.29.  My discount bread store is still closed so after this is gone I am going to have to pay full price at the grocery store for bread. *sob*

*  I earned $6.50 in Ibotta this week.(2 x $2 Allegra at R-A and .50¢ at Weis(PMITA)Markets.

*  I got a freebie at the food discounters.............

3 bags of Garden of Eatin' grain-free tortilla chips.  Only 2 are pictured because Hubs opened/ate most of the third bag before I got around to taking this photo this morning.

The store was giving these out to anyone who bought anything in the store.  The cashier said we could have as many as we wanted because they had pallets of it in the back(and the sell by date was past).  They aren't bad(aren't good either)but will be nice with a dip like hummus. ;-)

*  There has been no take-out this week so far.  We tried on Thursday to use a gift card and get take-out at Applebee's(they make a good Asian salad w/chicken)but we decided against it finally and just came home and had leftover Shrimp Scampi.
I think there will be some Chinese take-out this weekend however(if I have anything to do about it-and I will! lol).

That's about it from here.................

Here's another trip to R-A on son's card to a different store this week.  I was looking for the Natural Power Mitchum so I could use my stacked Qs for it.  I also found some 75% clearance items that I had Qs for and discount candy with .50¢ off stickers so I made a $15 transaction(for 2 of the Bonus Cash Challenges for this account).

I also went to Weis on Friday to get the freebie and the Friday deals.......

Friday deals-Lysol toilet bowl cleaner was .99¢  I used 4 .50¢/1 Qs that doubled to $1 so .04¢ in overage to apply to other items in my order.
The Keebler cookies are $1.97 this ad and I used 2 .75¢/1 Qs that doubled to $1.50 so each pack cost .47¢.
I also printed the .55¢/1 Little Debbie fudge brownie with English walnuts Q x 2 that was on coupons dotcom last week or so(it's NLA now).  I found this variety at the Weis across the street from the R-A where I found the make-up clearance pictured above, and LD snacks are 3/$5 this week, so I got 2 boxes of brownies for $1.14 total OOP(.57¢ each).
The Pure Leaf was a clearance find(not marked on the shelf-I found out about it from a Weis Q group on FB)$1.49 per bottle for the Hibiscus Lemonade Tea variety.  Between my store and the Weis in the town West of here let's just say I am well stocked on that now. lolz  And no, I didn't clear them out.

I saw lots of panic buying on Thursday and Friday at various Weis stores while I was out. Crazy!  People are not making fun of me for having a well stocked pantry now, are they? ;-)

It's always a good idea to keep extra food/paper goods as your extra cash allows.
You never know when your store supply chains will be disrupted.
Blizzards, tornadoes, hurricanes(where I grew up), earthquakes and now pandemics with a fear of being quarantined or having to self-isolate.  These are all reasons to keep your wits about you but have a stockpile of whatever size works for you.

Do you keep a stockpile?
If you don't you should.

Frugal Friday....the February 28th Edition

Checking in on the frugal stuff from last week and here we go!

* I got the Weis freebie last Friday.........

A box of pasta.
Always a popular item with my Hubs! lolz

*  I made $5.07 in Ibotta rebates since last Friday. See a previous post on that.  8-)))

* The best deals found at Weis(PMITA)Markets this past week...........

$46.07 paid OOP for all, $5.07 earned on Ibotta(3 x .97¢ cup o noodles, 2 x $1 Cottonelle, .10¢ any item).

* I've earned $91.44 in Ibotta rebates in February and only spent $406.39 OOP.  Not bad, huh?

* I found money!

This penny by the self-checkout in Weis last Friday.

This shiny fellow at Rite-Aid on Saturday near the register.

This dime tried to avoid capture also at Rite-Aid on Saturday back in the Pharmacy area.  It was on the floor behind the holder thing with the handheld shopping baskets in it.  But I spied Frankie there and took him home with me!

This penny was found in the foyer, near the gumball machines, of the Hibachi restaurant where we took Ex-College Boy for his birthday meal out on Monday.

And these two pennies were found in the self-checkout area(one in front of the machine next to the one I used and the other tucked beside my machine between the small waste basket next to that register and behind a display rack at the entrance to that area.

Total Found Money this week...... .15¢
Total Found Money this year.......$42.91

* Speaking of eating out, here's a tip.  Go out to lunch instead of dinner to save money.  We wanted to do an early dinner for Ex-College Boy's birthday meal out.  We didn't realize it but they have the hibachi thing on their lunch meal for about HALF of what they charge during dinner hours.  I figured you'd get about half the amount of food(which would have been fine with me)so I told Hubs to ask about getting the dinner size portion for him and EX-CB when the waitress came to take our order.
But of course he didn't ask so we all got the lunch hibachi.
Turns out it's basically the same amount of food(just a few less pieces of whatever protein/meat you choose).

You can see the full plate Ex-CB had.  He was wondering why I was taking his picture while he tried to eat. lolz
The meal also came with the regular salad and miso soup too so other than the price being lower nothing different from dinner time so it was a DEAL!
We'll be going there for lunch now instead of dinner(and it's not crazy crowded either midday like at night).
I saved about $40 on this one meal going during lunch service.

That's about it for me this past week as I stayed home besides going to Weis and Rite-Aid.  I'll be going to R-A today and/or Saturday to do my weekly deals there as it's 30% discount off reg. retail there this Fri./Sat. so those deals will go on next Friday's post.

Any frugal wins in your world this past week?

This Week's Shopping

After the epic shopping last week at Rite-Aid, this week has been fairly anti-climatic.

It snowed here for two days so I didn't out to Rite-Aid this week until Tuesday.  Even so, I still found 2 Shea Moisture items on clearance..........

2 x Body Butter clearance $5.49=$10.98+.66¢tax=$11.64 paid for with BC.
I earned back $10 BC(wyb 2 Nexxus or Shea Moisture)so I spent down the BC on my card by $1.64.
The Catalina machine spit out a $2 off wyspend $15 Q too.

So on Wednesday.....what a clusterf**k!
I go in and the manager says we didn't get a WW coupon packet.  The sometimes there Wellness Ambassador who is suppose to be in charge of this stuff was called and she was told by her higher up that R-A wasn't doing a WW this month, what with Christmas and a special 4 Day ad in additional to the weekly sales ad, etc.
So I showed the manager on my phone photos of the WWQs that supposedly don't exist and showed her comments on site where folks in other states had used them already today.
The manager shrugged her shoulders and said, sorry.  So I said Corporate(or at least the Ambassador's boss)is lying! but she wouldn't acknowledge that I was probably right.(They have been known to lie about stuff in the past. lol)
Then I asked where the 4-Day ads were as they weren't out.
She responded with, "What 4-Day ad?!?" lolz
So I showed her a copy on my phone and she pulled it up too.
Yet another fail.......my store's management never got sent this sales ad information.

So I found a few things to buy and had the cashier price check to make sure that even though there were no sales flyers that the deals still worked......and they did.
So I bought this on Hubs' card..........

2 x Planters on sale 4-Day ad=$6.00
I had a $1/2 Tearpad Q so paid $5.00 in BC.
This purchase earned me back $1 in BC(Planters/Tostitos Deal).

Then I used that $2 off $15 purchase CatQ I earned the day before on my card and bought this......

1 x Folgers coffee(4 day ad sale)=$5.99
2 x Nature Made Vitamin D BOGOFree=$18.49
2 x Kinder Bueno chocolate(4 day ad sale)=$2.00
SubTotal.........$26.48

Coupons Used
$2/$15 Catalina=$2.00
$4/1 Folgers R-A Q=$4.00
$1/1 Nature Made Peelie Q=$1.00
$2/2 Kinder Bueno L2CQ=$2.00
Coupon Total.......$9.00

$26.48-$9.00=$17.48 paid with BC
I submitted the Nature Made purchase to Ibotta and earned $4 cash rebate(2 x $2) so converted $4 BC to cash and spent down the rest of my BC by $13.48.

So be sure to load that chocolate Bueno Q onto your account for some free chocolate(a free stocking stuffer if you need it).

Later that afternoon I got a FB message from the Assistant Manager at R-A(we have become friends like that)telling me they now had the WWQs.
Wtf?!?! I said.
She didn't give me details but I'll get the story the next time I go in.
I just messaged her back that "I told you Corporate lies!"
She laughed and said, "Hey!  Don't shoot the messenger."
But there was no way I was going back at 4 pm for that.  There were no freebies with these WWQs anyway and I was done for the day.

After R-A I hit up Weis(PMITA)Markets.  I wanted to do the "Buy 6/Get $3 Back Instantly" Deal.
I also lucked into some dairy and meat discounts this trip.......

The Buy 6 Deal was the Birdseye frozen veggies, the Borden shredded cheese(I also had a Q for that)and the container of Cabot plain Greek yogurt.
I also picked up 2 packs(only 1 is pictured)of Ground Beef as it was $1.99 lb. which it hardly EVER is here anymore at ANY store!.
Then I found a huge package of breakfast sausages with a $3 instant discount sticker(making it $3.06)so it was $2 lb. and a thin London Broil marked BOGOFree(if you buy one it's half price then)with a $1 instant discount sticker on it as well, making it $3.74 for almost 1.5 lbs. of beef.
The Cabot vanilla yogurt quarts were reduced to $1 per container so I scooped those up too as this brand goes for $4.85 normally around here.  It will be breakfast for me for many days to come. ;-)

Of course one of the packages of ground beef scanned twice so I had to go to CS desk for a refund(what's new?lol).
And I found money by one of the self-checkouts too but that will get talked about tomorrow in the Frugal Friday post. 8-)

I am up to 167 Points at Weis(PMITA)Markets toward a free ham/turkey for Xmas.  I'll do another survey tomorrow for another 100 Points and yet another the following Friday which means I'll only have to spend another $33 to get to 400 Points for that freebie hunk of meat. ;-)

So that's the shopping this week so far.

What stores have you been too and what deals have y'all gotten this week?

Shopping Friday to Monday--Weis, Big Lots & Rite-Aid

Here's a Weis(PMITA)Markets shopping trip I did last Friday but put on my October food spending.......

2 packs of steaks, 2 packs of kielbasa and 3 tubs of turkey lunch meat were all instant meat discount stickered.  The kielbasas was $2 a pack after sale/sticker, the lunch meat were $1.50 each after sale/sticker and all steaks were $5.52 total after $5 in stickers.

The spaghetti sauce was the Friday Freebie.

The Palmolive dish soap is part of a "Spend $10/Get $3 off Instantly" Deal.  It is a Colgate Brandd deal and Palmolive is owned by them.  The deal goes off regular shelf price and that is 2/$5 on these dish soaps but are on sale the 2/$3, which made it $3 for all 4 bottles.  Not bad, $1.33 for each, and these are the large dish soap bottles.

The large cans are greens and were on clearance for $1 each.  But they rang up regular price of $2.

So I had to take a pic of the tag and go get a refund at the CS desk.............

Weis has discontinued it's "if it rings up incorrectly, it's free" Policy. Boo!!!  I just got the $2 overcharged back.
I also bought a gallon of milk, 2 canned frozen OJ and a 50% bakery apple pie on this trip.

All together this trip cost me $29.13 and the savings rate was 49%.  But since CS gave me cash I am tallying it up as a $31.13 trip and putting the cash into my refund envie. ;-)

On Sunday I went to Big Lots as they were having their 4 times a year 20% off sale.
I really didn't need much as I had loaded up on tp at Weis last week but I did buy a few things........

I got a 3 lb. bottle of honey, a bottle of Bulgogi sauce, a box of RL biscuit mix(an impulse buy),2 boxes of hefty baggies(1 quart/1 gallon), 4 small cans of tomato paste, a jar of pickle relish and 2 bags of Knorr's rice mix.  The relish was on clearance for .48¢(also got another 20% off so .38¢ out the door for that)because it had chipotle pepper in it too.  Will be interesting to try.

All this plus a pack of napkins and a case of bottled water(not pictured)came to $26.78.  I saved $24.28 off of buying this stuff other places at reg. shelf price w/out the 20% off too.

Then on Monday I went to Rite-Aid.
Kellogg's cereals were part of a "Spend $40/Get $20 BC" Deal, I had enough points to cash out of my Kellogg's account for 8  x $1/1 Qs, Savings Star had a $5 rebate on $25 worth of Kellogg's items and there were some Kellogg's Ibotta rebates too.  So I bought all this.......

All the cereals here and the Tide are part of a "Spend $40/Get $20 BC" Deal.
10 x Kellogg's cereals on sale 2/$5=$25.00
3 x Tide laundry detergent on sale $5.99=$17.97
SubTotal......$42.97

I used.....
8 x $1/1 Kellogg's IPQs(from my Kellogg's Rewards Account Pts.)=$8.00
2 x .50¢/1 Kellogg's assort. "Fall" cereals IPQ from their website=$1.00
2 x $2/1 Tide L2CQ(1 for pods/1 for liquid)=$4.00
1 x $2/1 Tide liquid ManQ=$2.00
Coupon Total......$15.00

$42.97-$15.00=$27.97 paid for with combo of all my BC and gift card.

I earned back $23 in new Bonus Cash($20 Spend $40/Get $20 Deal, $3 wys $12 on select Fall foods).

The $3 BC on fall foods was unexpected but it looks like the Special K pecan and cinnamon variety and the reg. Frosted Mini-Wheats were included in that offer.  Sweet!

I also got back $5 from SavingStar for buying $25 in Kellogg's cereals and amazingly I just looked and it'a ALREADY in my account there!

Unfortunately the only Kellogg's Ibotta rebates I had on cereal were for Frosted Flakes and those weren't part of the Rite-Aid sale. *whomp whomp*

In the end I paid $27.97+.72¢ tax on the Tide=$28.69 in BC/gift card and got back $28 in BC and SavingStar cash rebates.  Not a bad haul for .69¢ OOP.  ;-)

I am $57.91 into my October food spending.  Things should slow way down on the grocery spending for the rest of October unless Hubs goes off the deep end(he is not a price watcher)while I am away.

Now I am off to do my end of month Sept. figures and calculations.  Oh goody! lolz
