Shopping Friday to Monday--Weis, Big Lots & Rite-Aid

Here's a Weis(PMITA)Markets shopping trip I did last Friday but put on my October food spending.......

2 packs of steaks, 2 packs of kielbasa and 3 tubs of turkey lunch meat were all instant meat discount stickered.  The kielbasas was $2 a pack after sale/sticker, the lunch meat were $1.50 each after sale/sticker and all steaks were $5.52 total after $5 in stickers.

The spaghetti sauce was the Friday Freebie.

The Palmolive dish soap is part of a "Spend $10/Get $3 off Instantly" Deal.  It is a Colgate Brandd deal and Palmolive is owned by them.  The deal goes off regular shelf price and that is 2/$5 on these dish soaps but are on sale the 2/$3, which made it $3 for all 4 bottles.  Not bad, $1.33 for each, and these are the large dish soap bottles.

The large cans are greens and were on clearance for $1 each.  But they rang up regular price of $2.

So I had to take a pic of the tag and go get a refund at the CS desk.............

Weis has discontinued it's "if it rings up incorrectly, it's free" Policy. Boo!!!  I just got the $2 overcharged back.
I also bought a gallon of milk, 2 canned frozen OJ and a 50% bakery apple pie on this trip.

All together this trip cost me $29.13 and the savings rate was 49%.  But since CS gave me cash I am tallying it up as a $31.13 trip and putting the cash into my refund envie. ;-)

On Sunday I went to Big Lots as they were having their 4 times a year 20% off sale.
I really didn't need much as I had loaded up on tp at Weis last week but I did buy a few things........

I got a 3 lb. bottle of honey, a bottle of Bulgogi sauce, a box of RL biscuit mix(an impulse buy),2 boxes of hefty baggies(1 quart/1 gallon), 4 small cans of tomato paste, a jar of pickle relish and 2 bags of Knorr's rice mix.  The relish was on clearance for .48¢(also got another 20% off so .38¢ out the door for that)because it had chipotle pepper in it too.  Will be interesting to try.

All this plus a pack of napkins and a case of bottled water(not pictured)came to $26.78.  I saved $24.28 off of buying this stuff other places at reg. shelf price w/out the 20% off too.

Then on Monday I went to Rite-Aid.
Kellogg's cereals were part of a "Spend $40/Get $20 BC" Deal, I had enough points to cash out of my Kellogg's account for 8  x $1/1 Qs, Savings Star had a $5 rebate on $25 worth of Kellogg's items and there were some Kellogg's Ibotta rebates too.  So I bought all this.......

All the cereals here and the Tide are part of a "Spend $40/Get $20 BC" Deal.
10 x Kellogg's cereals on sale 2/$5=$25.00
3 x Tide laundry detergent on sale $5.99=$17.97
SubTotal......$42.97

I used.....
8 x $1/1 Kellogg's IPQs(from my Kellogg's Rewards Account Pts.)=$8.00
2 x .50¢/1 Kellogg's assort. "Fall" cereals IPQ from their website=$1.00
2 x $2/1 Tide L2CQ(1 for pods/1 for liquid)=$4.00
1 x $2/1 Tide liquid ManQ=$2.00
Coupon Total......$15.00

$42.97-$15.00=$27.97 paid for with combo of all my BC and gift card.

I earned back $23 in new Bonus Cash($20 Spend $40/Get $20 Deal, $3 wys $12 on select Fall foods).

The $3 BC on fall foods was unexpected but it looks like the Special K pecan and cinnamon variety and the reg. Frosted Mini-Wheats were included in that offer.  Sweet!

I also got back $5 from SavingStar for buying $25 in Kellogg's cereals and amazingly I just looked and it'a ALREADY in my account there!

Unfortunately the only Kellogg's Ibotta rebates I had on cereal were for Frosted Flakes and those weren't part of the Rite-Aid sale. *whomp whomp*

In the end I paid $27.97+.72¢ tax on the Tide=$28.69 in BC/gift card and got back $28 in BC and SavingStar cash rebates.  Not a bad haul for .69¢ OOP.  ;-)

I am $57.91 into my October food spending.  Things should slow way down on the grocery spending for the rest of October unless Hubs goes off the deep end(he is not a price watcher)while I am away.

Now I am off to do my end of month Sept. figures and calculations.  Oh goody! lolz

Frugal Friday......the April 5th Edition

Here's what passed for frugal around here this past week. It was a good week except that I found NO change last week.....Kim must have beat me to all the money laying on the ground. lolz
But here is what we did manage to do........

*  I picked up the Weis Friday Freebie last Friday.......

A box of pizza bagels for Ex-College Boy.

*  I brought home an array of freebies from our vacation............

The booty consisted of travel sized bottles of toiletries, bar soaps, pens and paper, plus tea and coffee, jams, hot cocoa and oatmeal packets.  I love the tiny Nutella packs. lolz

*  I also did some pantry shopping on vacation..........

Everything here was 75% off reg. Ollie's price(except for 1 of the bags of chocolate which was 50% off).  Most of it was snacks and junk.  I was especially excited to find a bottle of Mega Red supplement for 75% off or $1.74!

*  I used that Free Dog Food Coupon Purina sent me before it expired............

And got this..........

It wasn't free since it cost $1.99 more than the value of the coupon but a good deal at that price.  I could have gotten a smaller bag of this totally free but that size bag was on sale for only $7 which would have meant losing $3 in value on the Q. ;-)

*  Then on Saturday while he was out running errands Hubs went to Petco and got this for Chester......

I guess Petco is pushing their grain-free dog foods and automated shipping(to compete with Chewy)thus this freebie promotion.   We'll see if he likes it....Chester, not Hubs. ;-)

*  There was no Wellness Wednesday pillaging this past week as Rite-Aid didn't release their WWQ digitally(so there was no stacking the paper WWQs w/the digital WWQs *sad face*)but I did find a few things to bring home for better than free anyway..........

The Yes To! masks are on sale for 30% off this week so the $2.99 ones are $2.09 each(except I screwed up and bought 1 $3.99 mask ack!).  Plus there is a $2/2 RA L2CQ making two of them $2.18 + tax and you earn $3 Bonus Cash back for buying 2 so an easy moneymaker with the L2CQ.

The Neutrogena Hydro masks are between $2.99-$3.49 plus your Wellness discount(my store they are $3.49 so $2.79 after Gold discount).  Buy 2, pay between $4.78 and $5.58 + tax and earn $6 Bonus Cash for each pair you buy so another moneymaker.  I believe this Neutrogena(Buy2 items/Get $6 BC) is a monthly deal so you can do it 4 times this month.

*  I got a few deals at Weis(PMITA)Markets this past week.....

I had 2 x .75¢/1 for Ken's vinaigrette dressing which doubled to $1.50 each.  2 of the Ken's bottles had .50¢/1 peelie Qs that doubled to $1 each.  The dressing was on sale for $1.47 per bottle, so I paid $2.35 for all 5 after sale/Qs.
Then I submitted for an Ibotta rebate(.75¢ back, up to 5 bottles)and got $3.75 back so these were a $1.40 moneymaker.

The Walker's shortbread cookies were on clearance, reg. $3.99 marked down to $1.99 per box.  I had $1/1 Qs from inside boxes I previously got on clearance after Xmas(the Xmas shaped cookies)so I paid .99¢ per box for these.  Short of making my own shortbread, these are really good. 8-)

Weis also had pork loins and chops Buy 1/Get 2 Free last week.  The chops were $1 per lb. More than the loins so I bought 3 pork loins and paid $12.92.  I got 7.75 lbs.of pork so this all cost me $1.66 per lb.
Why pay $1 more per lb. buying the chops when I have a knife and can cut the loin hunks into chops myself? lol

*  I finally got my PandG $15 Mastercard rebate deal from last year..............

I was shocked it came after the last time I did one of these and they denied it!  Glad to have it since buying the items for it at Rite-Aid didn't cost me anything. lolz

*  And don't forget that Saturday and Sunday at Big Lots...........

It's another Friends and Family sale there.  20% off everything in the store.  Print off the coupon HERE.  You need a Rewards card on Saturday to get the discount, the coupon on Sunday.
Go through your pantry today and make your list.  My brother always hits this sale up for toilet paper restocking at his house. ;-)

That's it from Chez Sluggy this week.

What frugal wins did y'all have this week?

Shopping.....More Rite-Aid Stuff & Big Lots

Well I went back and returned those 2 items on Friday that didn't give me the $20 in pts. the shelf tag said I was suppose to get.  Incidentally the shelf tags stating you get $10 in pts. for each item were STILL UP on Friday!
Way to go Rite-Aid on the old Bait and Switch Scam!!!

So Friday I learned that with this new Plenti Points scheme Rite-Aid has if you buy something using Plenti points for any part of your purchase(transaction), if you return an item for any reason, Rite-Aid gives you back points up to as many as you used on that purchase(transaction)and then gives you your cash used on whatever amount is left to refund.
So I had used $12 in points on the transaction with the 2 items I ended up returning on Friday so my $14.98 cash refund turned into $12 in points put back on the card and $2.98 in cash(which I opted to have credit put back on the gift card that was used for that transaction).
Realize that this is a change from the +Up Rewards system where you got cash/credit, NOT a return of +Up Rewards.
While this makes sense and I had used a gc so whether I have a return in points or back on the gc it doesn't matter.  But if you are expecting cash back for a return you will be sorely disappointed.

After picking up my rx refills I then bought this stuff.....

I won't do a detailed breakdown since this Deal is over now.
SubTotal was $18.94
Coupons brought it down to $7.96, using $4 in points brought it down again to $3.96 on the gift card plus I'll get $2 in cash rebates from Saving Star and $4 in Plenti points back on this Plenti/Wellness card so this deal "cost" me $1.96 OOP.

There will be no Rite-Aid shopping this week other than I may pick up a jug of Persil laundry detergent at Rite-Aid this week as it's on sale for $3.99 and there is a $2/1 Manu Q(plus one at coupons dotcom online to print), making this $1.99 a jug.  If you like this brand or want to try it out for cheap, this week head to Rite-Aid for one.

But the plan the Week of 10/11 is to head back in for the free Arizona Iced Tea Deal.........

4 cans of tea beverages for free after points, so if you have $2 in points already on your card you can get this for nothing OOP.  I just wish they carried an unsweetened version at my store. sigh

Then on Saturday while Hubs and I were out we stopped into Big Lots as I wanted to pick up a jar of minced garlic as I am almost out.  Ollie's didn't have any(where I usually buy it)last trip there and Weis(PMITA)Markets wants almost $5 a jar(hahaha!)but I remembered Big Lots carried it among their food selection.
So we go into the store and I see 20% Friends & Family signs are up.
Could this be a happy accident, stumbling into the 3 or 4 times yearly Big Lots 20% off sale??
Why yes, yes it could! 8-)

So the "just stopping in for a jar of garlic" turned into a "what are we running low on, let's stock up if it's a good deal 20% off" trip.

Food items--minced garlic(they only had little jars so I got 3), some tuna, water chestnuts, creamed corn, tomato paste, applesauce cups for Hubs' lunches, spaghettio's w/balls and peace tea cans for College Boy.  Also Q-tips for CB.
There were more items(snacking type foods for CB which I am sending him in a care packages)but I can't post photos of those at it's a surprise.  ;-)
Altogether I spent $22.00 including tax on the food and toiletries I bought.

We also picked up a calendar for the kitchen for $4.  Hubs usually buys me a calendar for Christmas and it's never something I like (you would think he would know me after 35 years!lol)so I told him buy one now and don't over pay like he does at the mall kiosk during the Holidays.  Yes, I am frugal.
I also got 2 bath scrubby brushes for $2 each after discount.
Dollar Tree use to carry good brushes for $1 but the handles got thin and they break(ask me how I know!)so these are awesome at $2.

And then I did something I don't do much anymore, I spent frivolously.
I wandered into the Christmas section and saw these......

And I had to buy them! lolz

But that's ok, because they are so cool and bring me joy for the low price of $30.52.
Who knew joy could come so cheaply?   ;-)

The 20% Sale at Big Lots continues today so go on and get what you need.  This is probably the last Friends & Family Sale day there until after Christmas.
