One More Day.....

And no I'm not referencing the musical "Les Miserables" song.  It's one more day until my Birthday! 8-)

I've been feeling rather punky and maudlin lately.  Don't want to  do anything other than sleep, watch YouTube while I know I have tons I need to do.  After Xmas doldrums?  Winter "I hate the cold" doldrums?  Pandemic fatigue?  Pissed off at insurance new year/new deductible crap? Who knows.  I just want to hibernate and avoid everything.  So tell me something to cheer me up! ;-)

Sorry if I haven't been putting anything worthwhile on the blog lately.  I haven't been accomplishing much in real life either. sigh

So I'll post Frugal Friday tomorrow and then I am taking off at least the weekend from the blog.  I'll be back to post the Giveaway Winner on Sunday of course.  Don't forget to enter the Giveaway by Saturday at 11:59pm ET.

While 2021 was ok for us I don't feel like I'm living my best life right now.  I have high hopes that 2022 will see us emerge from whatever and give us reasons to thrive and keep going.

  2. Happy early birthday wishes! Hope that your day is filled with love and laughter, and I hope that this will be the start of a great year for all of us. Only 59 days til spring, as my hubby's aunt would drawl "the days are getting longer". Sending hugs and I hope you feel better.

  5. Happy early birthday. I have not been my chipper self either Slug. I miss you and my Sissy. It is cold and dark out and I have been sleeping more and doing less. It is just our down time. But maybe you need a Sissy visit. Of course, that will make me jealous, but that always cheers you up. If I was there with you, we would be laughing.

  7. Happy birthday a few hours early! Sorry to hear you've slid into the winter doldrums. I was early for that this year in September; I got overwhelmed with having the house to myself for the first time since March 2020 and didn't know where to start, so my brain just shut down and I couldn't do anything. (Fortunately, antidepressants helped!) The good news is that January is already 2/3 over, February is a short month, and spring is coming, and before we know it, we'll all be complaining about roasting in the summer heat. :) I hope you're able to enjoy your day tomorrow!!!

  8. Happy early birthday Sluggy! Hope you have a wonderful day.

I think it's pandemic fatigue, combined with winter. I've been feeling like that the past few months, but am doing better now. I agree with Sam. Day trips definitely helps lift the spirits.

  9. I think everyone is having the same issues with this pandemic. I have been isolating because I'm afraid of getting covid and sometimes feel like I am going to lose my mind. I've been working with my vegetable garden which helps a LOT - maybe get some veggies going, even if only indoors for some new life?

  11. Happy early birthday!

I also sometimes get down in the dumps and just feel blah. When that happens, I think about how lucky I am. My good friend Annie, is a Type I diabetic, has lost her eyesight to diabetes, has dialysis 3 times a week, was trached incorrectly at the hospital 2 years ago. To top it all off, she is currently in intensive care at Strong on a respirator with covid and pneumonia. (she was vaxxed and boosted thank goodness or it could be worse) and poor kid isn't even 60 yet! You wouldn't even know all the crap she has lived thru, as she is the most upbeat person I know. I think about my 91 year old brother-in-law Allan, stuck in a nursing home for over a year and now unable to walk or get out of bed since his muscles have been dormant for so long. He fell at home December 2000, was sent to the E.R. and placed in a county nursing home (shithole) by a doctor who misdiagnosed him (with kidney failure) and a wife who doesn't want to take care of him. I say all this, not to bring anyone down, but to say that we are all pretty lucky. We are at home, still get to move around, make decisions, breath on our own, drive a car, balance our books, yell at our husbands (lol), change our clothes, (although I pinched a nerve in my shoulder and sometimes it's a pain in the ass pulling up my underwear, lol) and so much much more.

You will be just fine Sluggy. Make sure you have slice of cake and a cup of tea on your birthday, read a good book, and enjoy all the things you still can do. It's just a bump in the road. :)

  13. Happy Birthday! I loved the video but it made me cry. Because your words are my exact spot I’m in! I’m not living my best life. I know I’m depressed, I’m Covid exhausted, anger kept in also makes us feel this way. I loved the movie where the guy yells “I’m mad as hell but I’m not going to take it anymore!” I feel that ways but to who? What? All of it! COVID, politics, people’s posts, choices ……. I’m sitting in a messy house, a Christmas tree half taken down (for weeks) and zero motivation . My 68 birthday was January 16, I share it with my grandson who turned 15 but he was diagnosed with COVID that day :(. So plans changed, no getting together. So 40 below weather, no cards, family nada. But thank you Cheryl that did help me put things into perspective. I need to make changes and will try to figure out how to live my best life. Sorry cause I’m sure this did not cheer you up unless misery loves company.

  15. Happy Birthday Sluggy!! Totally understand the 'funk'- I feel like we are living in some weird alternate reality most days. I escape by watching funny animal videos on tik tok & you tube and have stopped watching the news completely,I just watch comedies & nonsense on TV now - it helps. I hope you get to do something nice for your birthday:)
