This Week on the Dining Table....the June 24th Edition

The "What Makes America Great, at Least in Louisiana" Edition.....

Saw these shirts recently in Walmart for sale as it's almost the Fourth of July.  Yep, BBQ, Beer and Freedom on a tank top are worth celebrating down here for our Country's Birthday. lolz

Onward to the meal planning!
This is what was planned for last week...........
1. Sunday--Ribeye Steak, Bake Potato, Roasted Corn on cob(Father's Day)
2. Monday--Leftover Fajita stuff of Stir-Fry
3. Tuesday--Dinner out at Trivia?
4. Wednesday--Catfish, Broccoli Slaw, Baked Sweet Potato Fries
5. Thursday--Whatever we didn't have leftover on Monday lolz
6. Friday--Cheddar Broccoli Potato Bake
7. Saturday--Don't know?

And here's what actually happened....
1. Sunday--Ribeye Steak, Bake Potato, Roasted Corn on cob(Father's Day)
2. Monday--Leftover Fajita stuff or Stir-Fry
3. Tuesday--No Trivia so Zaxby's Chicken
4. Wednesday--Salad, Onion Rings
5. Thursday--Take n' Bake Pizza, Caesar Salad
6. Friday--Catfish, Broccoli Slaw, Baked Sweet Potato Fries
7. Saturday--Leftover Stir-Fry(no rice)

Father's Day was Hubs request of steak, tater and corn on cob.
Trivia was cancelled as the bar closed down that day unbeknownst to us so we pivoted and got Zaxby's on the way home as I had nothing thawed.  We did trivia at another location on Wednesday.  I found a marked down take n' bake pizza at Kroger so that became dinner on Thursday along with a Caesar Salad.  Catfish finally got used on Friday along with the marked down bag of Broccoli Slaw mix.  I still have some asparagus leftover in the fridge so Hubs chopped it up and added it to the leftover Stir-Fry on Saturday.  Stir Fry recipes are good for that, right? ;-)

What got taken out of the freezer last week....
*  2 Ribeye Steaks
*  1+ lbs. of Catfish

What got put into the freezer last week....
*  4 crab cakes

Last week we spent $112.18 on grocery shopping. (A lot of that was dog food.)

Total shopping comes to $448.65 for June.   There are 6 shopping days left in June.

Rebate monies earned this month so far.....
I've earned $185.12 on Ibotta in June.
I've earned $24.75 on Shopmium in June.
I've earned $9.00 on Alexa app in June.
I've earned $37.25 on Kroger Cash Back in June.
I've earned $4.00 on TaDa in June.
I've earned $7.26 on Checkout51 in June.
I've earned $66.16 on Aisle, etc. in June. (Haven't gotten my Nature Valley rebate yet.)
I've earned 23,987 points on Fetch from food shopping in June.
I've earned 22,470 points from food shopping on Shop Kick in June.($89.88)
I've earned 10 Points on My Points in June.($)
I've earned 5,633 SB from food shopping on Swag Bucks in June.

That is $283.29 in rebates(not counting Shop Kick/Fetch/MyPoints/KCB/Alexa/Swag Bucks)on $448.65 of grocery spending so in reality it's $165.36 in food spending after the rebate apps I count. I now separate out the Food Bank donations and don't count those in the grocery spending.

My savings percentage for the last week was 53.31% and the monthly savings total for June comes in at 49.93% spent.

Leftovers going into this week...some Fajita filling.

Here is this week's "food plan".....
 1. Sunday--Pork Loin, Spinach Soufflé
2. Monday--Cheddar Broccoli Potato Bake
3. Tuesday--Dinner out at Trivia
4. Wednesday--Ravioli, Salad
5. Thursday--Tuna Subs, Fruit
6. Friday--Leftovers of Fend for Yourself
7. Saturday--Zucchini and some protein?

I've got that Cheddar Broccoli bake and Ravioli lingering in the freezer so let's get those gone.  I've got Tuna in the pantry so subs it is too.
I didn't go to Kroger last Friday as I usually do...there was just nothing I wanted, except strawberries, milk,  and now sub rolls, which I'll buy on Tuesday after PT and doctor's appointment.

What is getting fixed and served at your house this week?

Was last week's plan successful, did you go off plan or did you not even plan what was going to be eaten last week?

Any deals on food at your stores this week?

  1. Love broccoli slaw mix. It is good to add to pasta salad as well! Your meals sound good.
Last week I did not go to the grocery at all. Just using what I have here, and haven't even made a dent in it! Not sure if I will shop this week either.
    Have a good one.

    1. I'd never tried broccoli slaw before. I must say I like it better than reg. cabbage slaw. I doubt I'd like it in pasta salad(not a big pasta fan)but that's an idea for Hubs. Thanks!

  2. Summer fruit sales have risen good so I’m mostly eating strawberries, peaches and nectarines. Dinner options are white bean soup and pasta salad. Dave wants to shrink his belly so I need to think of something lower calorie that he will actually eat. The plan so far is a side of vegetables instead of the usual bread.

    1. I'm into strawberries still, watermelon and cantaloupe right now. Cut his carbs(like I did last year to drop the weight), opt for veggies and that will shrink that belly. I need to tighten up my diet a bit as I have gotten lax this year. Still maintaining but I need to get back into losing mode again.
