Frugal Friday.....the March 13th Edition

Oh Goody!
Friday the 13th so let's recount this past week's frugal wins to scare off the evil spirits(and the online trolls that seem to be virulent lately) ;-)

Here's a photo I snapped yesterday of the paper goods aisle at my local Weis(PMITA)Markets.............
Just a few rolls of paper towels and down at the end some facial tissue.  I can't believe there was facial tissue left since it's just like TP just a little more expensive.

Onward to the frugalness..........

*  I got the Weis Friday Freebie last Friday.........

A box of Weis brand Hamburger Helper.
We don't care for this but the food bank likes to get it so off it goes in my next load to them.

* Hubs and I used a gift certificate won at the Church auction last Fall for a new BBQ joint in town for dinner on Tuesday.  We split a beef brisket dinner and after applying the gift cert. it cost us $3.18 OOP for dinner.

*  I found money!

A penny next to my favorite self-check out machine at Weis on Friday.

I did a load of laundry and found all this in the washer afterwards.  Sluggy's house rule, "I do the laundry and I keep the change you leave in your pockets", makes me .37¢ richer. tee hee

My trip to Rite-Aid garnered me .12¢ on Tuesday.  Each coin was found at different locations in the store.

On Thursday I found a nickel by the ATM at Rite-Aid when I went to pick up an Rx..........

Don't know why there since ATMs only give bills back, not change. lol

Then at Weis(PMITA)Markets later that day I found this..........

a dime right near the door where you walk in, under a display of Wonderful Pistachios.

It was a great week for finding change here!

Total Found Money this week...... .65¢
Total Money for the Year so far....$43.81

*  I earned $12.45 total in Ibotta rebates this week.

*  The deals I got at Rite-Aid.......

Total spent in Bonus Cash $16.33
Total earned back in BC $26.50 and in Ibotta Rebates $2.00 back as well.

My Weis deals above cost $24.44 OOP
I earned back $3.70 in Ibotta rebates on all this.

*  Hubs and I went to Bob Evans for lunch on Wednesday, the last day the $X off Q I had was good before expiring.  I got my usual big salad but this time Hubs, true to form did NOT get a salad too.  He opted for a meatloaf dinner this time.

That's about it for me this week.

What frugal wins did ya'll have?

Clearance Finds at Weis(PMITA)Markets Lately

Weis is in clearance mode lately, getting rid of products and reducing them to 50%.
I got a few goodies this past week.........

6 x Pasta Roni broccoli and cheddar noodles .50¢ a box=$3.00
1 x Weis mac and cheese big box of single serves=.99¢
4 x Chef Boyardee throwback pasta cans .83¢ a can=$3.32
2 x Chef Boyardee Paw Patrol pasta .50¢ a can=$1.00
4 x Knorr's Pasta Selects $1 per pack=$4.00

The Knorr sides are for Hubs, the mac and cheese for EX-CB and the Paw Patrol cans and 2 of the Pasta Roni boxes will go to the food bank so $2 of what I spent above won't come out of my food budget but the other $10.31 will.
I will confess the throwback Chef Boyardee cans are for me.  I still like Beefaroni sometimes and this reminds me of a cherished piece of my childhood. ;-)

I also got this on that trip..........

2 x WW string cheese 12 pack on clearance $2.14=$4.28
1 x Sargento balanced breaks cheese/granola snacks 2 pack on clearance=$1.89
2 x Hormel snacks(for Hubs)reg. price $2 and I used 2/.50¢ Qs that doubled to $1=$2.00
4 x Borden shredded cheese on sale BOGO($1.49 per)=$5.96

I also earned back $3.70 in Ibotta rebates(2 x .75¢ WW cheese, 2 x $1 Hormel snacks, .20¢ any shredded cheese).  Would have been nice to have had coupons for more of this but alas! I had none.

Have any of y'all found any good clearance buys at Weis lately?

Just a reminder that any Qs that print out on your receipt or Qs that R-A snail mails to you are R-A Qs and can be stacked with ManuQs(from inserts, peelies/tearpads or printed out from online).

I earned back $10 in new BC plus I'll get another $5.25 in BC in April as I completed the Bonus Cash Challenge for L'Oreal products with this purchase. woot!

That makes $11.66 spent and $15.25 earned so a $3.59 moneymaker.  8-)))

Then on Sunday with the new sales ad week at R-A I bought this stuff on my son's card/accountm again taking advantage of lots of R-A Qs to stack with ManuQs.........

1 x Mitchum deo 20% discount=$3.99

$40.52-$36.00=$4.52+ .15¢ sales tax=$4.67 paid for with Bonus Cash.
And I earned $10 in new Bonus Cash using that In-Ad Q making this a $5.33 moneymaker.
Plus I achieved the $1.25 BC level for buying the Cover Girl on this card's Bonus Cash Challenge so a $6.58 moneymaker once April rolls around. ;-)

Now there is some confusion over the BIC In-ad R-A Q this week.

Some folks are saying it's a ManuQ and you can't stack it with a reg. ManuQ but it doesn't say it's a ManuQ though it is beeping if you try to use it with a ManuQ.
So make sure you hand over this In-Ad Q BEFORE the insert ManuQ.  If the In-Ad Q beeps they can't push it through manually but they CAN push through the insert ManuQ and if the staff tries to tell you the In-Ad Q is a manuQ point out the wording and that it says "Also Save Up To $5 off with coupons in most Sunday papers".

Ok, that's all I got on the Rite-Aid front for now.  The ad isn't very exciting this week but if you can put together $40 worth of stuff(but have Qs so you don't actually PAY that much! lol)it's worth doing that for the $10 BC Deal.

Everything I got on these two trips will be Giveaway items except 1 concealer and the coffee....and I have to exchange the coffee for the bagged type as we don't have a Keurig thingy but that was all they had in stock at my tiny store.

If you "do" Rite-Aid tell me if you are one of the lucky ones who got the Bonus Cash Challenge Offer(as not everyone got the email about it)and what challenges you selected.

This Week on the Dining Table

The "WTF!?" Edition................

At the hibachi restaurant we took Ex-CB to for his birthday the end of February, the chef wheels out a little cart with all his equipment on it, including bottles of oils, sauces, sake and water. The bottle of water had this little baby sitting on a toilet topper so that when he squirts the water, it looks like the baby is peeing on the grill.
At least this topper wasn't on the bottle of sake he squirts into your mouth if you want a drink. lolz

Moving On....
Onward to the meal planning-

This is what was planned for last week.......
1. Sunday--Take-Out Pizza, Salad
2. Monday--Chicken Parmesan, Garlic Bread, Veg
3. Tuesday--Pork Teriyaki, Stir-Fry Veggies
4. Wednesday--Clam Chowder, Biscuits or Cornbread
5. Thursday--Breakfast for Dinner
6. Friday--Salmon, Roasted Carrots, Mac and Cheese
7. Saturday--Leftovers of Fend For Yourself

And this is what actually happened--
1. Sunday--Take-Out Pizza, Salad
2. Monday--Chicken Parmesan, Mac and Cheese, Salad
3. Tuesday--Leftovers
4. Wednesday--Fend for Yourself(We went out to lunch)
5. Thursday--Breakfast for Dinner
6. Friday--Haddock, leftover Mac and Cheese, leftover Bloomin' Onion
7. Saturday--Strip Steak, Baked Potato, Asparagus

Last week saw 4 nights of home cooked dinners, 3 nights of leftovers/FFY, and 0 nights of Eating Out/Take-Out.  We ate lunch out on Wednesday.
Pork Teriyaki, Salmon and Chowder didn't happen as I bought some grass fed steaks and fresh haddock on Friday, so those two meals move to this week.

What got put into the freezer last week....
* 2 lb. Shrimp
* 2 lb. Bacon
* 2 containers of Ice Cream

What got taken out of the freezer and used.....
* Chicken Cutlets

Lots of trips to Weis(PMITA)Markets, Malacari's, and P and R this past week in the amount of $98.85 brings my March Grand Total spending on food to $98.85
I've earned $7.90 in Ibotta rebates too in March so far.

My savings percentage last week was 62.09%(without Rite-Aid trips)and March's monthly savings total comes in at 62.09%(w/out R-A).

I have 22 more food shopping/spending days in March.

Leftovers going into this week.....1 Chicken Parm, Asparagus and Haddock.

Here is this week's "food plan".....
1. Sunday--Pork Teriyaki, Stir-Fry Veggies(Rice for some)
2. Monday--Lemon Pepper Chicken w/Zuke in Tomatoes, Rice
3. Tuesday--BBQ take-out(I have a gift cert.)
4. Wednesday--Clam Chowder, Biscuits or Cornbread
5. Thursday--Salmon, Roasted Carrots, Mac and Cheese
6. Friday--Pizza, Salad
7. Saturday--Leftovers of Fend For Yourself

What needs buying for this menu?  A cucumber to go in the salad on Friday.  That's about it.
The Weis(PMITA)Markets as is a two weeker and there is nothing much in there(loss leaders)I  want or need.  I am hoping that at the end of the ad(around the 18th/19th)I'll be able to find good deals on instant discount sticker meats as folks tend to get tired of the same deals for that long and any meat specials will be leftover and marked down with stickers.  We'll see. ;-)

I also don't plan on going to any extra grocery spots this week, given that there is a confirmed case of Covid-19 two counties over from us here in PA now,  so I am trying to limit my exposure to people when I can.

What is getting fixed and served at your house this week?

Was last week's plan successful, did you go off plan or did you not even plan what was going to be eaten last week?

Any great deals on food at your stores this week?

Sluggy
