Frugal Friday...the Nov. 8th Edition on Sunday

Sorry I am late with this post but I had a Radiofrequency Ablation early Friday morning so I was out of commission for a few days. I am finally feeling relief and up to doing my usual things.

There are a few Frugal wins over the past week.....

* Did two PT sessions this week before the RFA procedure, no charge.  My last two sessions are next week.

*  I got a freebie this past week at the grocery store.....

I used a Velocity OTC offer to get this jar of Taco Bell Salsa Dip for Hubs.

*  I did the "Buy 3, Get $5 Off " Offer at Kroger in their personal care section to get these items.....

After Coupons, sale prices and the additional $5 off this was a .03¢ moneymaker and if the KCB works on the shampoo(I used a paper Q and not the digital Q)it should become a $3.03 moneymaker. 8-)

*  I did some other shopping, mostly for the food bank..........

Raspberry cocoa, a jug of Cat Treats, 2 boxes of Stress Tea. 4 graham cracker pie shells, 2 bags of pasta, 2 bags of cough drops, 4 tubes of kid's toothpaste, a Degree deodorant and a container of Airborne.  I already talked about the Kroger "Buy 3, Save $5" items.

*  When we went to checkout at Kroger on Saturday I found this hanging out of the Catalina machine there............
A $3 off your next shopping trip coupon.
Yes please! lol  There was also a coupon for $ off Beneful dog food, which was also used when we went back later that week.  And another $1.50 off your next shopping trip coupon came out.  8-)))

*  We did no eating out last week though Hubs did bring a pizza home Friday as I was in no shape to cook. ;-)

*  We also had no food waste last week.

*  The a/c and heat were not used most days and our electric bill came and it was $72 for the month.  Nice.

*  Had a semiannual checkup at the neurologist last week.  Every thing is stable and no medication changes were ordered.

*  I found money!

I found a quarter lying on the ground under the carts outside of Aldi last Friday.  We picked up a quart of Greek yogurt and some bagged salads there.

I found a dime in Walmart at one of the self-checkout machines on Saturday.  I consider that my reward for braving Walmart crowds on a weekend. ;-)

Total Found last week..... .35¢

Grand Total Found this Year.......$9.07 & 5.30 Euros

That's all I got and all I can do right now.

Any frugal wins in your neck of the woods?  Let's hear all about them!

Frugal Friday...the October 27th Edition on Saturday

There are very few(if any)Frugal wins this past week so here goes....

*  Went to my old NP at the shit show clinic to get a wound check since the Pediatrician PCP refused to treat me.  The NP is a wonderful human being and we love her and she did me a big favor by checking my incision(it's fine btw)so I didn't have to spring that on the new PCP I was setting up with.

*  Went to a new PCP and this one, not being a Pediatrician by practice(and an A$$hole in personality)will be a much better fit.

*  While I'm complaining about stuff, my youngest child is the only one how checks in on me by phone every week.  My daughter who lives here can't be bothered to call or come over on the weekend and my estranged son never even responded to Hubs text letting him know I was having surgery.  Thank goodness I married a great man who has hardly complained about helping me out since we flew to Ohio.  He's my rock! 8-)

*  I went to PT 3 x this past week.  Man, does that wear me out and I usually need a nap in the afternoon.  Good thing I've hit all my deductibles and co-pays so I'm not shelling out cash for this service.

*  Grocery shopping this past week--

Last Sunday Hubs did the shopping with the list I gave him.
All the above would have cost $49.49 OOP except I still had travel stipend money for the surgery trip that was used.  I earned back $20.20 on Ibotta and another $7.24 for a free meatball offer.  I earned 600 Shopkicks for the ice cream, $3.24 on the ice cream again on Checkout 51 and 308 Swag Bucks on various items.
He also bought a head of Romaine and a clamshell of Strawberries which came to $1.97.(The strawberries were bought with the stuff above and were paid for using the stipend cash, the lettuce was paid for OOP.)

*  We got some takeout this week because I ain't in any shape to cook still.  I had a hankering for Chinese so I got garlic Green Beans and Sesame Chicken.  Those two containers lasted me 3 big meals.  We also used a BK gift card and go a $3 Whopper on Whopper Wednesday.

*  I found money!

Nope, skunked again, but then again I was in no condition to pick up change and I only went to PT and the doctor.

Total Found in last Week.... .00¢
Total Found this Year.......$3.27

That's all I got. Gee, there was no frugal wins really(other than using up some lingering gift cards).

Any frugal wins in your neck of the woods?  Let's hear all about them!

Blogging will be taking a backseat to getting me healed so there might not be many posts here for the foreseeable future.8-)

Frugal Friday on Saturday

A fair amount of Frugal this past week.........

*  Many Rite-Aid Deals combining regular Bonus Cash Deals, sale prices, coupons and Spend $50/Get $15 BC back coupons.

*  I got two freebies last Friday at the Discount Grocery Outlet.  I took no photos but I can tell you it was a bag of some kind of "healthy" chips and a 4 pack of Bloody Mary mix.  I don't drink Bloody Mary's but I can just use those in spaghetti sauce or another sort of tomato based dish.

*  I took a rare trip to Target on Thursday and used a long ago paid for gift card to do the "Spend $50/Get a $10 Target gift card deal.
I found some meat deals--50% off a 1.5 lb. pack of stew beer and $1 off 1 lb. of ground beef.  "Spent" $58.96, "saved" $23.10 according to Target and really earned back $13.29 on Ibotta for some of the items I bought and got a $10 Target gift card. -)

*  I had a semi-annual dental check-up.  No cavities or problems, just x-rays and a cleaning.  I scored some toothpaste and mouthwash samples(as well as a couple of coupons good for a few months).

*  I went back to OSJL this past week to get more of those "Craveology" trail mix jars off the "Eat for Free" table but they were all gone!  So I picked up 2 bottle of Asian sauces and a box of pasta.  Total came to $7.97 but I used a Crazy Deal gift card to pay so Zero OOP.  Sorry no picture. 8-(

*  I found money!

Found these coins in various spots in Rite-Aid last Friday.

Found these two pennies by the front register on Saturday at Rite-Aid.

And found this dime on Tuesday near the pharmacy counter at Rite-Aid.
My Rite-Aid was a honey hole this past week.   I just wish I could find lost quarters too.  8-))

Total Found This Week.... .24¢
Total Found This Year.....$2.14

That's about it this week.........

What frugal wins did y'all have this past week?
Let us know!!
And have a peaceful Easter weekend,

Frugal Friday....the November 6th Edition

Here is what I remember from this past week that would qualify for frugal.........

*  Hubs and I hit the Discount Outlet on the other side of the river/downtown last Saturday to pick up some cheapish deli lunchmeat/cheese, as well as some fresh produce and fruit.  This is the place that puts out boxes of freebies if you make a purchase so we also got these for free there.........

4 packages of flour tortillas.  I foresee enchiladas and quesadilla in our future! ;-)

*  I picked up a free to me Rx on Sunday, didn't go anywhere on  Monday, worked the voting polls on Tuesday and had a sleep doctor annual check-up on Wednesday and then spent the rest of that day recovering from Tuesday.

*  On Election Day I made up snacks for our crew(breakfast breads, veggies and dip, hummus, cheese and crackers and bottled water)so we didn't have to spend money on getting something delivered.

* Since I was near a CVS on Wednesday while I was out for my dr. appointment I went in to hit the redbox for coupons.  I also bought this.........

An Almay blush for $11.99.  This store adheres to the 98% rule so I knew it would generate the $6 ECBs for spending $12 on Almay deal this week.  I also had a $5/1 Almay item the redbox generated, a $4 off $9 any cosmetics CRT and a $3 off $6 any cosmetics CRT(that adjusted down to $2.99)that both came off meaning I spent Zero OOP or in ECBs and earned back a $6 ECB.  Sweet!

*  Also while out after the dr. appointment and after hitting up CVS I was starving(no time for breakfast that day)so I used my BK app to get a $2 Whopper to bring home for lunch.  I only needed to nibble on leftover veggies and hummus for dinner.

*  Thursday I went to Rite-Aid and got all this.........

I used a $10 off $40 Q, 4 x $2/1 Nivea men's item In-Ad Qs, 2 x $1/1 Nivea shave gel IPQ, 2 x $2/1 Aveeno face cleanser IPQs and a $3/1 Aveeno face cream Catalina Q I got awhile back so $27 total in Qs.
Total after sale/Qs came to $22.92+$1.38 sales tax so $24.30 and I used Bonus Cash to pay this.
I earned back $30 in new BC($10 wyspend $30 Aveeno, $10 wyspend on select Aveeno $30-these double dipped on certain items, $4 wyspend $15 men's Nivea, 2 x $3 wyb2 men's Nivea).
A nice little moneymaker. 8-)

*  I found change!

.21¢ on Saturday at Rite-Aid.  A dime under one candy rack, a penny under another candy rack and the other dime leaning sideways on the side of the stand alone rack where they keep the weekly flyers.

I found this .11¢ on Sunday when I went to pick-up an Rx at Rite-Aid but I don't recall where I found the coins in the store, sorry.

I even found change while working the polls.  2 pennies in a corner in the building where the polls were set up on Tuesday.  This really bumped up my pay check from the county for working. lolz

Went into R-A on Wednesday to do that Aveeno/Nivea Deal and found this quarter under the infamous candy rack.

Thursday's R-A trip yielded this dime(can you guess where I found it?).

Change Found This Week...  .69¢
Change Found This Year so Far....$50.83

*  The weather here has gotten unseasonably warm and the heat is off again at least until the weekend is over.  That's a win in my book too.

*  Hubs paid for Chinese food for dinner Thursday night out of his WAM to thank me for volunteering to work the polls with him.  I think it was a self-interested move since I don't cook on Thursday's and he didn't feel like making dinner but I'll take it. lol

That's about it from Chez Sluggy.

Tell us what frugal wins you had this week!

My Long 3 Day Weekend

On Saturday we had an "outing".
We traveled South of us to a Chinese Auction.
Hubs and I(and sometimes me alone or with the kids)would go to these on a semi-regular basis in years past, thought we haven't been to one in a few years now.
It's a raffle event/fundraiser for some group that you might know as a Tricky Tray, Penny Social or some other moniker.
They call 'em Chinese Auctions around here.

You buy sheets of tickets and then go around to all the prizes up for grabs and put tickets in for the prizes you want to win.  At the designated time they start drawing numbers and if they draw your number you win that prize.
Here's a shot of our ticket stubs right before they started drawing the winners.  Those who are "old hands" at attending these things always bring some cardboard and a stapler or scotch tape so they don't have to shuffle through stubs all day and miss their number being called.

Often there are better prizes you can win but you have to buy different tickets for those and they are more expensive to purchase.

Here is Hubs standing in front of the long line of tables holding available prizes.

You never know how these events will pan out.  Sometimes they have great prizes and sometimes not so much.  Sometimes there are lots of things you want to win and sometimes it's all bleh.  And sometimes they don't have many prizes even.  It's a real crapshoot.
But even so, we are moderately lucky at these events and hardly ever get skunked(not win anything).

Here's the loot we brought home.....

5 wins(2 for Hubs/3 for me)plus I won a door prize(a kangaroo candle).  Hubs won a basket with a lap blanket and a metal sign and then won that autographed Yuengling sign.  He really really wanted to win that one!  1 signature is the owner of Yuengling but we don't figure out the other 2 signatures.
2 of my wins were baskets of kitchenware stuff.  Casserole dishes, a pastry roller, a mini chopper, a cookbook and assorted towels and a table runner.  I also won a gift certificate for a music venue that came with a signed print by local muralist Dave Naydock.  Dave died a couple of years ago so this signed print is special. ;-)

After the Chinese Auction we stopped in at a grocery outlet store I go to infrequently.  It use to be an Amelia's(local/regional Berks/Bucks Co. mostly chain)Outlet but it has changed hands.........

It's called Grocery Outlet Bargain Market now.
And it's hardly a bargain anymore.

These were the only bargains we found, plus medium dozen eggs for $1.99.

Perhaps if this was a high income area(it's far from it, one of the more economically depressed areas in PA)these "bargain" prices might really be a bargain compared to the fancy pants grocery stores(which there are none of here).  There is an Aldi, Walmart and a Weis right down the street and the only other grocery chain here is Giant(which is still reasonable though a bit higher overall than the other two I mentioned).  I don't see this outlet with these prices lasting long term in this location.

On the way home we stopped to pick up dinner using 2 gift cards for a Chinese restaurant I had won at a Chinese Auction down here in 2004.
Yes, I said 2004. lolz
Was about time I used those, huh?  Though we were sure they wouldn't take them they did!
Yes!!  So dinner that night was free Sesame Chicken and I didn't have to cook.

The drive on Sunday South of here was nice as the fall foliage is out.
Here's a mediocre shot of the colors along the highway.  I was on the wrong side of the car to get the nicer shot down into the valley with even brighter Autumn colors.......

Moving on......

On Sunday I spent a lot of time processing collard greens.
Here is what I picked that morning spread out on my swing......

It amounted to just over 4 lbs. harvested.  I then washed(twice), cut out the spines, chopped and blanched them over the course of the day, between going to Rite-Aid and Weis.
I ended up with two gallons sized bags of collards for the freezer.....each half filled for 4 helpings of greens in each.

And here is what is left of the collard plants in the garden after I gave them a shave...........

There are 3 more plants on the other end of the garden.  I'll wait until a frost to pull up the plants and process the rest of the greens.  I tell ya, processing collards is WORK! so I need a whole day for get all this finished.

I also noticed my Hyacinth bulbs out on the back deck are trying to bud.....

Poor confused plants....

I blogged about the Rite-Aid trips on Sunday but here is a photo of what I bought at Weis.........

$15.21 OOP for $24.43 worth of reg. retail goods.
If you want to see the Deals I did, go HERE for the video.

On Monday I went department store shopping.  I hadn't bought College Boy any clothes since May(and then it was only some shorts, t-shirts and sandals at Walmart)and he was needing pants and had requested some flannel shirts(it gets mighty cold at his school).
So with Columbus Day sales on I went to the mall.

The last time I was at the mall was in the Spring to get 2 of my kids some cookware at Macy's when the stuff was part of a great sale there.
I just don't go to the mall much and I only go to get to a particular store.....I don't "mall shop".
This is my second trip there in the last year which is about normal for me.  I probably won't go back until next year sometime.

I went to JCPenney's looking for the flannel shirts they advertised for $14.99.  I had a $10 off $25 purchase coupon so was going to spend $20 for 2 flannel shirts.
Ha!

I found a few other things for College Boy there AND I got 35% off my purchases all day there for opening a Penney's charge account.
2 flannel shirts $14.99
2 t-shirts BOGO Free
1 pair of Levi's $36.99
2 pair of Khakis BOGO Free
After assorted discounts(15% on the Levis but 35% on everything else)I paid $92.62 on $246 worth of clothing.

I also earned a $10 off Q for ladies handbags, accessories, shoes, etc. good for another couple of days.  On the way out I passed through the handbag department and found a grey purse marked down to $25.20.  My 35% off knocked it down to $12.92 and my $10 off Q took it even lower to $2.92 plus tax paid of .78¢ making my purse cost $3.07 OOP.
Nice. 8-)

Of course that Penney's bill will be paid as soon as I get it and that charge card will be filed away and probably not used ever again.  Yes, I am the person who will open an account just to get the perk. lolz

Then it was on to Kohl's.  I had $120 in gift cards to use so I found some more goodies for College Boy, including 2 more flannel shirts, another pair of Levi's and in the clearance section I found 3 pair of shorts(2 Vans/1 Hawk), a pair of sandals and some underwear for him.  I got more things but they are tucked away for Christmas so I can's show or talk about them here.  ;-)

I also got myself a nice quality Winter nightgown($17.60 after sale + a 20% Q)and found a soft Summer sleeveless nightgown on the clearance rack that came to $7.68 after clearance and 20% off Q.
$467.50 worth of reg. retail goods for $38.52 OOP after using my gift cards.

Picture of some of the goodies I bought on Monday, not including the Xmas presents, my nightgowns and purse.
I also earned $30 in Kohl's Cash for my purchase at Kohl's that I get to go shopping with this coming week.

I also hit the Dollar Tree on the way home for a few items we were out of--2 bottles of ketchup, a box of lasagna noodles, a cold drink(shopping makes me thirsty)and a bag of chocolate covered fruit.  I also picked up 4 more pair of reading glasses in assorted colors. $9.24 OOP....$5 of that cost comes out of the food budget so I am up to $20.21 spending this week on groceries between the Weis trip on Sunday and the Dollar Tree trip on Monday.

So we combined having some fun AND getting some deals last weekend.
And nobody got injured in the attempt. ;-)

So what did y'all do over the long weekend?

Sluggy

$16 more in Free Food

And I got a $2 OYNO Catalina.

Then I bought another Lowe's gift card(paid for out of the money set aside for the home renovation)=$50.00

I received a $4 OYNO Catalina and the $10 OYNO Catalina.

My guess that these small, non-identified triggered Cats are a special promo at our store.  The sale this week is due to the new gas pumps they opened at our store.  These Buy1/Get 2 Free promos are only good at THIS Weis store.
Whatever, it's all good.
I spent $20.42 from my food budget this morning and got $16 back in Cats plus I got another 10 gas points for the gift card purchase.

This last lot gives me a total of $51 in Weis Cats/$5 in Weis Gift Card/$20 in R-A +Ups. $76 in future free stuff.

I'm hoping to do the Gift Card Deal 3 more times between tonight and Saturday.  Maybe some more coffee......
Come on up Judy and I can push you around Weis while you shop....

KFC FREE CHICKEN Throwback Can You Smell the Fowl?

So after I sent the CLEANSEFEST/EXTREME HUNGER Post, the mail arrived.
And just to prove that the gods are up there laughing at me, here is what arrived.

Can you see the return address??

Ok, here is what was inside.....

Remember all those bazillion Free Chicken Coupons everyone in North America printed out and tried to use on the same day a few months back, forcing KFC to run out of chicken?

Yep, it's the KFC FREE CHICKEN RAINCHECK COUPON!
Actually it's FOUR of them.

Taunting my non-eating body with Free juicy chicken........oy, the pain!
At least the coupons can't be used until July 20th through August 3rd, so I should be able to use one or two as I'll be eating by then.

Did you get your FREE KFC Coupon yet?

One of the Best 4 Letter Words Ever!

Can you guess what one of the best 4 Letter Words of the English Language is?
If you are a Couponer, it might just be......
F-R-E-E!

I know I 'heart' free.....how about you?

One of the grocery stores in Teeny Tiny Town is 'different'. Instead of running their weekly Sales ads from Sunday to Saturday, they run theirs from Thursday to Wednesday. In fact, the entire regional Chain of these markets run sales from Thursday to Wednesday. There is no big full color ad in my Sunday paper, the paper I buy to get my lovely, lovely coupons each week. Their sales ad comes out in Thursdays newspaper, that I don't buy. If I want to know what's on sale at this store I either have to go to the store on Thursday(a tad inconvenient)or remember to look up their flyer online(which I seldom do right away).
I think this store runs their Sales midweek to midweek just to TICK me off....ya know?

Because of their sales starting midweek, I hardly ever go shopping there early on into their sales, meaning I usually miss out on the good stuff that sells out. This week I just happened to remember to check out their online flyer when it posted after midnight on Wednesday night/morning. I had just gone through my coupons, to winnow out the rest of the ones that were expiring on Thursday-April 30th-that I hadn't used yet, when I checked out the sales flyer.

Two items in the flyer got my attention straight away. I don't ususally buy my HBA supplies at the grocery store(that's what CVS & WAGS are for after all!)but the Grocery store was putting large tubes of Crest Toothpaste on sale for $1.
Now Colgate can be had for cheap or free alot but Crest is usually a bit more $ around here. Then I saw that the store had Gillette Men's & Satin Care Ladies Shaving Cream on special for .99¢ each this week as well. This item sells for $2.99 regularly around here.

I had just taken both $1/1 Crest Toothpaste and $1/1 Gillette Shave Cream coupons out of my binder to dispose of, since they were expiring Thursday, April 30th.......which was the 1st day of the sale where I could now use those coupons to get these items for F-R-E-E!

So you'll never guess where I was on Thursday?
If you guessed in that regional Grocery Store in Teeny Tiny Town, you would be correct!

Since I had so many coupons, I spread them out over 3 different stores so I didn't clean out any single store of the items. Ok....the 1st store someone else had already cleaned them out of the Shaving Cream, except for 4 cans.....which I bought. I left plenty of both toothpaste and shaving cream behind otherwise, in each store I visited.

The grocery store also had Mentos Gum packs on special(not advertised in the sales flyer)& I still had 14 coupons for those that were also expiring so I picked up some free gum while I was at it.

So here's what about an hour's worth of work got me.....
14 Mentos
17 Crest Toothpaste
19 Gillette Shaving Cream

Zero.
Out.
Of.
Pocket.

FREE has got to be my favorite kind of shopping!lol
And this was serendipitous because I used up a bunch of coupons I thought I'd have to ditch.

Back from Weis Mrkt. where it's H-O-T!

Yes it's HOT at Weis Markets.....HOT SAUCE, that is!

I needed to pick up cake mix today to make Hubby a cake for his birthday. His actual birthday was last week, but he was sick, so we are celebrating tonight.

He requested a Chocolate Cake and I have NO chocolate cake mix in the house. I do have cocoa powder, flour, baking powder & sugar but....

1. I am too lazy today to drag all that out.

2. My last made-from-scratch cake didn't turn out so well.

3. Weis is having a sale on Duncan Hines mixes this week.

So I bopped down the street to my Weis market in Teeny Tiny Town and here's what I brought home....

I got to the cake mix aisle and found not only are the cake mixes on sale for $1 a box, but the frosting is $1.50 a tub AND if you buy a cake mix, a brownie mix & a frosting, you get FREE LARGE EGGS!

Having coupons for Duncan Hines would make this deal even better. The only Q I had was $1/3 Brownie mixes and I just didn't feel the need for 3 of those today. So I bought 1 of each AND a box of Angel Food Cake Mix(I need this for Easter's meal & Betty Crocker because Betty was cheaper). ;-)

Heading on over to pick up my eggs(did I mention that they were FREE?), I made a wrong turn and passed down the condiment aisle. I noticed that the French's Mustard(classic yellow)was on sale for $1.49 or $1.79, depending on the size of the bottle. Not a very low price but....I have coupons for 50¢ off/1 (this Weis doubles up to $1), making my discount $1 on ea. bottle.

AND there is a OYNO Catalina Coupon for $1 when you buy 2 bottles. So I picked up 4 bottles.

Further down the condiment aisle I saw a cardboard freestanding display of Frank's Hot Sauce-3 for $1. These weren't the regular sized Hot Sauce bottles but smaller.

Regular small size is 8 oz, these are 5 oz. bottles. Look for them....

I had $1/2 coupons for Franks & the coupon has no size limit on it, so I picked up 12 bottles. **If you get the 3/$1 bottles you will have to buy in multiples of 3 to use the $1/2 coupons....unless your store will take a coupon that gives you overage. So my 12 bottles used 4 coupons and made the Hot Sauce FREE!

I tried to get the mustard for free-at least the second 2 bottles. I went to the self-check out and bought 2 bottles, using 2 .50¢ off coupons. Paid .98¢ and got a $1 OYNO catalina. I tried to use 2 .50¢ off coupons & the $1 Cat the second time, but the cashier wouldn't take the Cat. Now I realize that the Cat would have made .02¢ overage on the purchase. I gave her the coupons and THEN the Cat....I should have given her the Cat first, then the 2 .50¢off coupons. The first coupon would have rang up doubled to $1 and the second coupon would either adjust down on the doubling(to .48¢, not .50¢)OR it won't double at all. In that case, the 2 bottles of mustard would cost me .48¢ instead of the .98¢ I paid. And it would generate another OYNO $1 Cat to keep rolling this deal.

I'll have to go back tonight or tomorrow and try with the mustard again.

Transaction #1
2 Mustard @$1.49 ea.
Subtotal....$2.98
Qs Used....$2.00
TOTAL....$.98
Got $1 OYNO Cat

Transaction #2
2 Mustards @$1.49ea.
12 Hot Sauce @3/$1
2 Cake Mix @$1 ea.
1 Frosting @$1.50
1 Cake Mix @$1.67
1 Dzn. Eggs @$1.73
Subtotal.....$13.88
Qs Used
2 Mustard $2(doubled)
4 Hot Sauce $4
Instant Q for Eggs $1.73
Total Qs.....$7.73
GRAND TOTAL...$6.15 & a $1 CAT

[Grand Total could have been either $4.17(w/free mustard)or $4.66(w/2nd Q adjusted)]....oh well.

So I'm OOP $7.13, I have products valued at $16.86 AND I have 2 $1 CATs to use the next trip to the store.

Be on the lookout for those special sized FRANK'S RED HOT SAUCE at your local Weis/Mr.Z's market. Like I said, this store had the display set up in the condiment aisle, but it could be put elsewhere-like near the deli or by the Ethnic foods-so keep your eyes peeled.

I am betting that this special Frank's Sauce isn't just a Weis thing. If anyone finds this display/price on Franks in a different grocery chain, please leave me a comment and let me know.

thanks!

Sluggy

Rite-Aid this Week so Far....As the Soap Lathers

I went to my local Rite-Aid on Monday night.
I had planned on doing the Free Olay Soap Deal.

*Buy 10 2-packs of Olay Soap. It's on sale this week for $2.50. 10x $2.50=$25.00
Use a $5 off $25 Internet Rite-Aid Coupon availabe through the Rite-Aid Website.
Then use 5 $2 Off Olay Coupons from this past Sunday's P&G Coupon Insert.
$25-$5-$10(5x$2)=FREE SOAP(before sales tax).

Unfortunately, my Rite-Aid only had 6 2-packs of Olay Soap left in stock.

So, I tried to come up with some other way to utilize that $5 off $25 Coupon.
I came prepared with other options/coupons.

I tired to do a scenario involving the BLINK TEARS Eye Drops that qualifies as a Single Check Rebate item. That item would get me to $7.99 of the $25 I needed and be free after the SCR.
And they were out of that too.

I tried to get the Colgate MaxFresh Toothpaste on sale for $1.99 with 2 Qs, making it free.
Also out!

The ClinicalStrength Old Spice Deodorant with a SCRebate of $4?
Nada as well.

UGH

It looked pretty bleak at this point, my chances of getting to $25 for minimal out of pocket. I was at $15 with the only 6 packs of Olay Soap in the joint.

I wandered around a bit and looked for other options. I turned a corner and found some of the Colgate Toothpaste on an end display w/other non-dental items that no one had found yet to clear out.

Now I had the Toothpaste & was up to $16.99.

Then I found Bugles BOGO @ $2.19. #2 son LOVES Bugles. For what works out to $1.10 a bag, this went into the cart.

Up to $19.18.

Found the EXCEDRIN Express GelCaps on sale for $1.99(free with my $2 IP Q).

Up to $21.17.

I really hate to buy filler junk to get to a total I need. I'd rather spent a bit more than the bare minimum to get something we'll use or really need. I saw the 4-packs of Vitamin Water for $4.99.
Ouch, that price! More than a buck a bottle!!
And of course, my regional did NOT get the Vitamin Water $1/1 Coupons in last Sunday's coupon inserts! Grrrrr

But #2 son loves this stuff.....and we were almost out anyway.
PLUS, there is a Single Check Rebate when you buy 2 4-packs this week, so I can pick up or work up another scenario later in the week at Rite-Aid and get the second 4-pack & send for the $2.50 rebate. $4.99-$1.25(half the rebate amount)=$3.74 for 4 bottles. I can live with that cost.

So $21.17+$4.99=$26.16.
I can use my $5/25 Q....yay!

I go to the register to ring out.
Everything goes smoothly....she rings everything up.
I give her the Rite-Aid $5/25 Q and then the 6 $2/1 Olay Qs, the Rite-Aid Ad $1/1 Colgate Q, the Colgate $1/1 Man. Q & then the Excedrin $2/1 IP Q.
She says she can't take the Excedrin Q because Rite-Aid only takes ONE Internet Coupon per order and they count the Rite-Aid $5/25 Coupon as an Internet Coupon.
Grrrrr
I am thinking that's lame. The ONLY WAY you can get this Rite-Aid $5/25 Coupon is on the Internet!
My head says.....DOUBLE Grrrrr.
But I SMILE!

So she takes off the Excedrin from my order.
The order is now $.73 short of $25.

Before I could grab a candy bar or pack of gum to put me over $25 again, she gives me my total.
Ooookkkkk....lol

She didn't make me pay for a filler to use the coupon.
That was nice, huh?lolol

Getting FREE STUFF at TARGET

Here it was the last day of March and I had lots of coupons expiring this day.
I had a FREE ITEM Q for a new Cascade Rinse(it's like Jet-Dry). I also had $2 Qs for Gillette Body Wash. I had been to Target twice already & was looking for those smaller bottle of this Body Wash.....the ones I read that were $2, which would get me FREE Body Wash w/my Qs. So I headed on over to Target to try one last time before the Qs expired.
And BINGO! I finally found the 8 oz. Body Washes. More like they FINALLY had some in stock because the rack where they were located had been empty every trip until this one.
So I was able to use those 11 $2/1 Qs and get 11 FREE bottles along with that FREE Cascade Dishwasher Rinse.
I picked up the Glucerna Cereal for FREE too. The Q is $5/1 and the box is priced at $4.49 at Target & the cashier doesn't adjust it down in price, so it's a .51¢ overage.
I had a $1.50/1 for the Dawn Foaming Dish Soap and it was priced $2.49, so for .99¢ I thought I'd try it. The barcode on the Q rang up/took off $2 instead of $1.50! Basically, added to the overage on the Glucerna(51 cents) I got the Dawn Soap for Free too.
The only items I paid cash for were the Granola bars. They were on sale for $2.50 & I used 3 $1/1 Qs.

TRANSACTION
11x Gillette Body Wash @$2.00
1x Glucerna Cereal @ $4.49
1x Cascade Rinse @ $3.64
3x Granola Bars @ $2.50
1x Dawn Foam @ $2.49
Subtotal........$40.12
Tax.................$.36
TOTAL..........$40.48

Coupons Used....
11x Gillette Body Wash @ $2/1=$22
1x Glucerna Cereal @ $5/1
1x Cascade Rinse @ $3.64/1
3x Quaker Granola Bars @ $1/1=$3
1x Dawn Foam @ $1.50/1-rang up $2
TOTAL.........35.64

TOTAL OUT OF POCKET.....$4.84
SAVINGS of just over 88%!

Basically I paid for the Granola Bars and tax on the cleaning products.
These Body Wash are a good size to send with my #1 son who is going off to college in the fall.
I noticed that they had lots of stuff on the Clearance shelves in the toiletries dept. in Target. Quite a few items marked down I also had Qs for, but none of it would have been Free or under $1 even with a Q. So I just left it all there.
Yah, I'm getting a tad picky about the deals I do. If it isn't Free or I already have enough of it, I leave it.

Unless it's chocolate. You can never have ENOUGH Chocolate!
You can quote me on that.....
