Frugal Friday.....the August 28th Edition

Not much to report in with this past week but here goes.......

* I went to Rite-Aid on Sunday and bought this.........

(Plus another drink not pictured.) This lot cost me .05¢ in Bonus Cash.

* I hit CVS early in the week for all this.........

Besides all those ECBS this all cost me $2.32 OOP in cash.
* I sold some fancy shampoo on eBay(2 different listings)last weekend and shipped it out on Monday.  Of course it was set to arrive to the buyer in AL right during Hurricane Laura. lolz  The buyer paid me before I could send an invoice with lower postage for the combined shipping so I will refund part of what she paid for shipping when she lets me know the package arrived safely.

I accepted a bid on them that was lower than I had them listed for because A-everybody needs a break nowadays and B-I wanted this stuff gone and C-since I technically didn't pay any $$ for them, I'm happy with whatever cash I get. ;-)

* The Coupons dotcom app has an offer for free bananas until 8/31, up to $1.50 worth.  When we hit Walmart Thursday I picked up $1.32 worth of bananas(the sign was wrong with a higher price or I'd have gotten an actual $1.50 worth).  Receipt submitted and approved and I should have that $1.32 in my Paypal account any time now.

*  I thought I was going to get "Found Change Skunked" this past week.  I went to Weis(PMITA)Markets, CVS, Walmart and Rite-Aid this week and found nada change.  So I made Hubs swing into R-A after our outing on Thursday so I could pick up next week's flyer and while I listened to my R-A friend's tale of woe(before I told her of my "didn't find any change this week" tale of woe), at the register I looked down to find this..........

A nice shiny dime!
So much for getting skunked this past week! ;-)

Total Change found this week. .10¢
Total Change found this year....$47.72

* While at Walmart I picked up this stuff to finish off my $5 The Climb Ibotta Bonus.....

2 x Delmonte fruit cup packs
1 x Keebler cookies
1 x Kraft boxed mac and cheese
1 x pack of hard boiled eggs
1 x Perfect Bar
2 x Mead folders

Paid $11.17(w/.12¢ tax on folders) after $1.75 in coupons off on the fruit and cookies.
Earned $10.19 in Ibotta rebates on all this(including a .50¢ Del Monte Bonus and the $5 the Climb Bonus).
I am up to $126.25 earned on Ibotta in August.

* I also earned $1 on SavingStar for buying Domino sugar at Weis last Friday.

* After Walmart Hubs and I went to Red Robin for another Anniversary Week Lunch and used my last gift card for there.  Lunch cost me $7.20 OOP(including the $6 tip I left the waitress).

*  I also placed an online Rite-Aid order on my other card on Monday and it arrived on Thursday......

4 x Zim's Max Freeze=$20.96
4 x Sally Hansen hard as nails=$9.96
4 x Duracell batteries=$8.76
Subtotal...$40.68

Since my total was over $34.99 the shipping was free.
I had a coupon code to save $10 if I spent $40 making my total $30.68+.52¢ tax=$31.20.
I paid with Bonus Cash and earned back $40 in new BC, growing my BC $8.80 on this transaction.

I placed another online order on my account(same items except only 2 Max Freeze since I already bought 2 in the store this week so wouldn't get $5 BC but on 2 more, so I added 2 x Compeed items).
After $10 Coupon Code it was $35.68 so I used $34.80 in BC and .88¢ cash from my Paypal account I'll get back $34 in new BC and will submit the Compeed to Ibotta for another $10 in cash rebates.  Converting $10 of BC into cash on that deal.
Not too shabby either. ;-)

*  The garden is winding down a bit now but we are still getting a couple of tomatoes every day or two.  Hubs harvested some jalapeno peppers he planted too.  The collards are coming along and will be ready to pick after the first frost. Not many of the roma type tomato plants have done much and the squirrels and chipmunks have taken a liking to the fruits that are there.
I do still have at last count FOUR acorn squash, one on each of FOUR plants that were suppose to be crookneck yellow squash plants!
Anybody have god recipes for acorn squash? ;-)

That's about it from me today.  I've got to finish up putting away the toiletries stash in the guest bedroom and finish filling giveaway boxes this weekend so I'd best get off here soon.

Today is also me and Hubs' 38th Wedding Anniversary so there may be Take-out or Lobsters in my dinner plans tonight.   Yah for not cooking!  8-)))

Frugal Friday.......the July 17th Edition

Here's the frugal stuff that happened this past week here at Chez Sluggy......

* We got Domino's this week.......

I used another of the scads of Domino's gift cards I have.  3 medium pies for under $20 makes for lots of leftovers for me and Hubs(not so much for Ex-CB lol).

* Remember that Listerine I got at R-A last week?

After $3 BC earned and 3 x $5 virtual prepaid debit cards they were better than free.
But how to spend a virtual prepaid card of only $5.
Here's how......
Go to Walmart.com and buy 3 x $5 Walmart gift cards.  They ship for free and you can use those physical cards in the store.

The first of three $5 Walmart gift cards arrived this week.

*  I bought 23 items with Ibotta rebates this week and besides the rebates I earned a $5 Bonus, a .50¢ July activation Bonus and a.50¢ Axe Bonus

*  Here is what I bought at Walmart on Thursday to finish the 23 items..........

a bag of carrots, a lb. of Country Crock sticks, a tub of Almond butter Country Crock, 2 Oui yogurts, a bag of Kind nut clusters, 5 Budding lunch meat bags, a Bic Soleil razor, a package of Alka Seltzer gum/antacid and a bottle of Aleve.
All but the carrots and the Aleve counted toward the Ibotta rebates.
The total with tax came to $20.14 after my $10 in coupons.
But I just paid .14¢ OOP because I used a $20 free prepaid debit card(I think it was a R-A Allergy Rewards card).
And I earned $13.83 + the $5 Weekly Essentials Bonus so $18.83 in rebates for spending .14¢.
Nice.

*  I found money!
Yeah.

A penny at Rite-Aid last Friday.

Two more pennies at Walmart last Saturday.  One next to a car going into the store and another by a register coming out of the store.

A double score--a dime and a penny under the candy racks at Rite-Aid on Sunday and 2 more pennies under the magazine racks there at the register as well.

I went to a Weis in the town West of here on Wednesday.  There was a lone self check-out over by the  deli/premade items and I saw two pennies on the floor there.  I only got one with the aid of my cane as the other one was stuck to the floor and I had no sharp implement to pry it up with(and I wasn't getting down on my hands and kneed to get it).
The second penny was in front of the Customer Service desk and the third one was in the middle of the lane cordoned off to direct you to a register so 3 pennies at that store came home with me.

This quarter was spotted on the way to the ladies' room at Red Robin.

And this penny was laying in the middle of the walkway on the way out of Red Robin.

Total Change found this week. .45¢
Total Change found this year....$46.90

 *  Besides picking up .03¢ at that other Weis(PMITA)Markets I also got $1.50 back in a refund when the Dole peaches cup in coconut water didn't ring up the 50% clearance price.  This goes into my refunds/post coupons envie to put toward food expenses come the end of 2020.

*  We got a few veggies out of the garden this week too.......

Two nice heads of broccoli......

And one smallish yellow squash.  More squash will be coming this week too. ;-)

That's about it for frugal-ness this week.......

Frugal Friday.....the October 4th Edition

Here's a look around at what frugal wins we had this past week.........

* We picked what is probably the last of the garden veggies.....

Hubs picked the last of the tomatoes, including some green ones.  Except for the Cherokee Purple which we'll reserve for slicing and eating fresh, the rest of the ripe ones went into my last pot of sauce  made from our tomatoes.  Hopefully the green ones ripen soon.

And I went out yesterday in the rain and snipped the last of the broccoli.  I made a chicken, rice, cheese and broccoli casserole Thursday evening for dinner and this was just enough broccoli for it.

Growing your own food saves a ton at the grocery store and if you grow tomatoes you actually get to taste a "real" tomato and not that genetic monster they raise to sell in the grocery store that looks great, travels well but has no actual flavor.

* I found money!

This corroded penny was found in my car when I cleaned it out on Saturday.

These 2 pennies came from Rite-Aid....the nice shiny one inside the store on the floor and the grody one in the parking lot.  It looks like it was run over a few hundred times!lolz

Another penny in Rite-Aid when I went to buy a Sunday paper on Sunday.

And these three in Rite-Aid(where else?!?!)on Monday when I bought all that cereal.

And this lonely penny at Weis by my favorite self-checkout.
Free money tally for the week is .08¢.

*  A free gift card arrived last Friday......

I had enough points with my Hotel Program that I sent off for this $50 gift card.  Now to use this to it's best advantage.

*  I hit Big Lots on Sunday during their 20% off Friends and Family Sale.  I like to stock up on tp at one of these but I didn't need to(see Weis stock ups the week before)so I just got a few things.

Some good deals at Weis..........

And some good deals at Rite-Aid....

And some samples at Rite-Aid as well........

* Between SavingStar and Ibotta I got back $21.10 in cash rebates this past week.
Sweet!

* I also had a number of post coupon/refund situations this past week resulting in $8 cash back---

$4 back at Rite-Aid on Sunday when the cashier hit the total button before taking my Qs.....

$2 back when my 2 digital Qs didn't come off at the Shursave Market.  It was actually $1.99 back($1 and .99¢)but she gave me $2 even.

And $2 back for being overcharged on some clearance turnip greens at Weis.......

* I got the Weis Friday Freebie last week.....

That's about it from here.

Frugal Friday......the September 20th Edition

Here's a few frugal-like things that happened around Chez Sluggy this past week............

*  I picked what will probably be the last of the broccoli on Thursday.  Our nighttime temps are almost to freezing.

Had I known that after the first big heads these plants would keep producing little heads I wouldn't have pulled up the 3 plants that I did.
This little bit will either go into a mish-mash stew this Winter or Chester will get it in his dinner bowl(it's his favorite, the crazy dog!).

Grand total of broccoli grown/picked this year is 4.40 lbs.

*  I found money!(Can you guess that this is the favorite frugal thing when I can post it? lol)

I found this quarter in the Rite-Aid parking lot last Friday.

Then I went to Weis and found 2 pennies.....both at the Customer Service Desk.

Then I found this penny at the Walmart self-checkout.  I spied it at the register across from the one we were using and I scanned my shit so fast so I could bop over there and pick it up before Kim got it. lolz

Then I went back to Weis on Wednesday for something and found the penny at the Customer Service Desk and the dime next to the self-checkout I used.
Weis has some self-checks designated for credit/debit and some for cash.  I always go to(or at least walk by the cash one)because between people not taking their coins out of the slot, the coins shooting forcefully out of the slot and getting lost on the floor and people just dropping their change into the trash can there(and missing)there is usually at least one stray coin laying there.  ;-)

And this coin I spied in the Weis parking lot last Friday while walking back to my car.
I picked it up even though it wasn't a US or Canadian coin.
It's a 1971 UK "New Pence".
Seems it might be worth a couple of bucks if I sold it on eBay. 8-)))

* I got the Freebie at Weis(PMITA)Markets last Friday.......

A jar of pizza sauce.
rah.

*  I also got these deals this past week at Weis.........

Tomato soup was .49¢ a can last Friday if you bought 6.  Between Ex-CB and making my Beef Pie recipe we can handily use these 6 up in a couple of months.

I got 3 meat items with instant discount stickers on them--a bottom round steak came to $4.27, 8 hamburgers(1.76 lbs.)came to $5.00($2.84 lb.)and a pack of 10 chicken thighs came to .89¢ per lb.  I used half the hamburger patties with 1 lb. of ground chicken and turned that into chili for last Sunday's supper.  The round steak is in the freezer as are 3 of the hamburger patties(I had the 4th one for lunch one day)and half the chicken thighs(the other 5 thighs were dinner on Tuesday).

These were discontinued bags of candy($1.49 on clearance). Each had a $1 off peelie Q on the package making them.49¢ out the door.  The Skittles are my brother's fav so another Xmas gift marked off the list.  The Starburst?......might be in a giveaway, who know?? ;-)

*  I listed some stuff on eBay.   It was a bunch of stuff that's been sitting around here I have not dealt with until now.  We shall see if that yields any sales and cash for my coffers.  I've got more to list and now is the time to get it up there as the Holidays are coming!

*  I received a $5 gift certificate to a local craft brewery in my email.  I have forwarded it to Hubs for his use.  ;-)

*  We sat down and decided on how much more money to move into a CD from our checking account and I promptly made the transfer.  I have to say 2.35% is much better than the .01% we were earning on that money! lolz  Still not enough....thanks a lot Fed, you suck!!!

*  I bought $72.70 worth of food items at OSJL and received back a gift card worth $72.70 in their store.

I got some stuff at Walmart using a few Qs and got $15.35 back in Ibotta cash rebates.

I got this stuff at Rite-Aid and used Bonus Cash, paying nothing OOP.

That's about all from here.
