Frugal Friday.....the September 25th Edition

Here's a rundown on what frugal wins we had around Chez Sluggy this past week.....

*  I went to Rite-Aid on Wednesday.  I had $3-$4 in Bonus Cash that was expiring soon so I  brought this stuff home....

1 x Ric Krispies on sale=$1.99
2 x Febreeze small spaces deodorizer 20% Wellness discount($3.11)=$6.22
SubTotal....$8.21

Coupons Used
1 x $1/1 any Kellogg's cereal from my Kellogg's Points account=$1.00
1 x BOGOFree Febreeze ManuQ(up to $3.00)=$3.00
Coupon Total.......$4.00

$8.21-$4.00=$4.21+.20¢ tax=$4.41 using Bonus Cash.
I also earned .60¢ on Ibotta for buying the Rice Krispies plus a Giveaway entry, so converted .60 in BC into cash. ;-)

*  I finished off the Ibotta "Seeing Green" $10 Bonus.  I needed 11 items(and after the box of cereal at R-A it was 10 items)I went to Weis(PMITA)Markets.....

3 x Kellogg's cereals $2.49 wyb3=$7.47(2 different rebates)
2 x Jello gelatin cups on sale=$3.00
2 x Jello pudding cups on sale=$3.00
2 x Cracker Barrel cheese on sale=$5.38
2 x Banza chickpea pasta clearance=$4.18
2 x Cliff energy drinks on sale=$4.00(2 different rebates)
1 x St. Joseph low dose aspirin on sale=$2.00
1 x Daisy sour cream=$1.99 *not pictured*
SubTotal.....$31.02

Coupons Used..$4.40
Total after Qs.....$26.62 OOP
Then I earned back $13.80 on Ibotta for 10 different rebates plus hit the 30 item mark and earned the $10 Seeing Green Bonus too, so $23.80 in rebates/bonuses back meaning all 15 items cost me $2.82 OOP.

*  I already blogged earlier this week about the $4.10 refund at Weis(PMITA)Markets that made my package of diced chicken better than free....

*  Hubs took the window a/c out of two rooms upstairs.  When he went to put the screens back in he saw that one was beyond patching so he bought a roll of screen and used his rescreening tools to replace the screen.
Ta-Dah!  Much cheaper than buying a whole new window screen and frame.

*  I got 2 packs of chicken and a pack of hamburgers(and some snacking cheese)on clearance last Friday which I already showed you....

But when I went back on Wednesday to finish the Ibotta Rebates and that $10 Bonus I also picked this up in the way of meat deals....

Another pack of hamburgers, 1.33 lb for $1.98 after discount and $2 instant sticker on the package.
And a pack of 1.69 lb. of thin sliced chicken breast for $3.31 after half price(BOGOF at Weis, if you just get one it's half-price)and $2 instant sticker on the package.  This will be good on nights my hands are hurting and I can't pound or slice chicken for stuff like Marsala or Parm.;-)
These went immediately into the freezer.

*  I found money!

I found a penny at Rite-Aid when I went there last Friday.

I went to a cashiered register at Weis(PMITA)Markets last Friday. The register wouldn't take any of my legit IPQs so they suspended the transaction(as this snafu was holding up the line)and they made me go to Customer Service to finish the transaction and get my Qs to scan.

After finishing up at the CS desk as I walked past the self-checkouts I spied a coin under one of the self-checkouts but someone was using it right then.  So I pulled my shopping cart off to the side and looked over my register(the same receipt they overcharged me on that pack of chicken...maybe I should have REALLY paid attention to that receipt, huh?lol)and waited for the guy to finish and pay and move away from the checkout.  Then I swooped in and snatched up the coin which turned out to be a dime...so worth the wait. ;-)

Then when I went back to Weis on Tuesday to get a refund on the overcharged chicken I found this penny near the Customer Service desk.

And I went to Rite-Aid on Wednesday to use some expiring BC(see first photo of transaction above).  I cleaned some expired Qs out of my coupon envie while in the store and went to put them in the trash can outside the door of the store as I left and found this penny waiting for me near the trash can.

Found change this week..... .13¢
Found change this year so far...$48.28

*  We had Ex-CB and his roommate over for dinner Thursday.  As it was a shot day we ordered Domino's(plus I was able to put together a tossed salad to serve with the pizza).

I used a gift card(long ago paid for)plus since I order online I had a FREE Pizza to redeem so instead of $23.96 + tax the order was $17.97 + tax.

That's about all from here this past week.

What frugal wins did ya'll have this past week?  Let us know!
And to Jen G.--I am certain that I will NEVER be the cause of any national tofu crisis.  Other than a little in my Hot and Sour soup when I order that, I have to stay away from soy beans(it's a long story).  There will be no tofu hoarding here! ;-)

Frugal Friday.......the July 17th Edition

Here's the frugal stuff that happened this past week here at Chez Sluggy......

* We got Domino's this week.......

I used another of the scads of Domino's gift cards I have.  3 medium pies for under $20 makes for lots of leftovers for me and Hubs(not so much for Ex-CB lol).

* Remember that Listerine I got at R-A last week?

After $3 BC earned and 3 x $5 virtual prepaid debit cards they were better than free.
But how to spend a virtual prepaid card of only $5.
Here's how......
Go to Walmart.com and buy 3 x $5 Walmart gift cards.  They ship for free and you can use those physical cards in the store.

The first of three $5 Walmart gift cards arrived this week.

*  I bought 23 items with Ibotta rebates this week and besides the rebates I earned a $5 Bonus, a .50¢ July activation Bonus and a.50¢ Axe Bonus

*  Here is what I bought at Walmart on Thursday to finish the 23 items..........

a bag of carrots, a lb. of Country Crock sticks, a tub of Almond butter Country Crock, 2 Oui yogurts, a bag of Kind nut clusters, 5 Budding lunch meat bags, a Bic Soleil razor, a package of Alka Seltzer gum/antacid and a bottle of Aleve.
All but the carrots and the Aleve counted toward the Ibotta rebates.
The total with tax came to $20.14 after my $10 in coupons.
But I just paid .14¢ OOP because I used a $20 free prepaid debit card(I think it was a R-A Allergy Rewards card).
And I earned $13.83 + the $5 Weekly Essentials Bonus so $18.83 in rebates for spending .14¢.
Nice.

*  I found money!
Yeah.

A penny at Rite-Aid last Friday.

Two more pennies at Walmart last Saturday.  One next to a car going into the store and another by a register coming out of the store.

A double score--a dime and a penny under the candy racks at Rite-Aid on Sunday and 2 more pennies under the magazine racks there at the register as well.

I went to a Weis in the town West of here on Wednesday.  There was a lone self check-out over by the  deli/premade items and I saw two pennies on the floor there.  I only got one with the aid of my cane as the other one was stuck to the floor and I had no sharp implement to pry it up with(and I wasn't getting down on my hands and kneed to get it).
The second penny was in front of the Customer Service desk and the third one was in the middle of the lane cordoned off to direct you to a register so 3 pennies at that store came home with me.

This quarter was spotted on the way to the ladies' room at Red Robin.

And this penny was laying in the middle of the walkway on the way out of Red Robin.

Total Change found this week. .45¢
Total Change found this year....$46.90

 *  Besides picking up .03¢ at that other Weis(PMITA)Markets I also got $1.50 back in a refund when the Dole peaches cup in coconut water didn't ring up the 50% clearance price.  This goes into my refunds/post coupons envie to put toward food expenses come the end of 2020.

*  We got a few veggies out of the garden this week too.......

Two nice heads of broccoli......

And one smallish yellow squash.  More squash will be coming this week too. ;-)

That's about it for frugal-ness this week.......

Frugal Friday......The May 7th Edition

Not a lot frugal around here this past week if you don't count not going anywhere. lolz  We worked in the yard 2 days and have plans to expand our garden this year....more on that later.
Our county's stay at home order expired so the assholes in charge here extended ours to June 4th.
Because of the moron town South of us in our county(where half of all the county's cases are located) we'll never get the ok to open up again. sigh.
I tell ya there will be both a lot of babies born around the beginning of 2021 and a lot of divorces(plus a few murders sprinkled into the statistics here).  Thank goodness it's not the dead of Winter here so at least folks can get out in their yards and away from their families. lolz

Here's the frugal in my World lately...........

* I got out my leftover seeds and we went to our favorite plant nursery to pick up plants we needed.

We got a few veggie plants(things I won't plant from seeds)plus some ornamental and flowers.

* I found money!
Since we were at the greenhouse near the Amish Surplus Outlet we went there too.

I found this penny by the checkout.

* And speaking of the Surplus Outlet--we got a few things there.  Some of the better deals are pictured below.........

big jar of Yuban coffee $4.99
2 bags of whole bean 8 o'clock coffee for $1.99 each
2 lb. bag of rice for .89¢
3 large cans of tomato paste for .99¢ each
2 cans of tomato soup for .50¢ each
1 loaf of PF bread for $1.00
1 bottle of Kranch(ketchup/ranch)for ExCB $1.19
1 box of Melba Toast for .79¢
1 bottle of veggie oil for $2.99(not a great buy but I was out so yah)

Also bought but not pictured were 4 Oikos yogurt drinks(for ExCB) .25¢ each, a huge bag of frozen Birdseye broccoli florets for $3.19, 2+ lb bag of chicken tenders, haddock fillets at $3.49 lb., a lb. of roast beef deli meat for $3.50, a head of lettuce for .99¢, large clamshell of butter lettuce for $1.49 and a box of 4 Smithfield sausage biscuits for $2.59 for Hubs.

* Hubs "made" dinner on Thursday my shot day when I am not up to cooking meals.  He used a Domino's gift card AND I had enough points to get a free pizza too, so we only used the gift card for 2 of the pies(we each get a med. pizza-so we can get the toppings we each like and then use it for other meals-except Ex-College Boy who usually eats his whole pizza within 24 hours of buying it. lol)

* My specialty pharmacy that my insurance provider forces me to use to fill my Humira Rx screwed up again.
I'm suppose to be charged $5 per Rx w/my co-pay card from the manufacturer but they charged me $50 again, like they screwed it up in March.  I called them right away that day it was ordered and supposedly they fixed it.  Got the Rx in the mail and the paperwork and NOPE!, they took $50 out of our HSA for it.  Which meant another call to the specialty pharmacy and I'm crossing my fingers they actually FIX their screw up this time.
That same day I got a letter that the reg. arm of this mail order pharmacy wants me to transfer my maintenance/regular meds to them to fill.
Um, hell NO!  If you can't fill this one drug and charge me the proper amount why on earth would I want you handling any of my other Rxs??!
Ass hats...

* Our only nephew's birthday was May 4th and I haven't been out to Dollar Tree in ages so I didn't have a card for him.  We had picked up single serve Edward's pies for .50¢ each at Surplus Outlet that day and his fav is Key Lime so I donned a mask, threw Chester in the car and went over to his apartment that evening with a bag of those free grain-free chips(he likes that sort of thing)and a pie.
I stood at his door and sang "Happy Birthday' and handed him the bag of goodies.  We talked while social distancing.  He's an essential worker but it's been hard on him not socializing outside of work and living alone now.  I know he's rather have been chatting with one of his friends instead of his unhip Aunt but it's the best I could do for him. ;-)  And he appreciated the pie as nobody else makes him birthday cakes(usually I make him cupcakes or a cake).

That's about all from here.  No Rite-Aid trips this week. 8-(

What frugal wins did y'all have this week?
