Frugal Friday.........the January 31st Edition

Here's a recap of what frugal goodness we experienced this past week here around Chez Sluggy........

*  I got the Weis(PMITA)Freebie..........

A 2 liter of soda.  As you can see by the time I got around to taking a photo of the bottle Ex-College Boy had polished it off. lolz

*  When Hubs and I went to the Big Lots 20% everything in the store sale 2 weekends ago the receipt spit out a coupon for $10 a $50 purchase(basically 20% off your $50 purchase)which was good until 1/30/2020(not the one pictured).
So I hit Big Lots when I went out on Thursday and found $50 worth of housewares/dog stuff(nothing that would count toward my food/toiletries spending tho)that came to $50.39.(You KNOW I used a calculator to get it that close to $50, right? lolz)
After $2.43 in sales tax and the $10 off I paid $42.82 for needed items.

*  The rebates just seemed to roll in this past week...........

This $10 debit card was from buying Clairol items at R-A in early December.

This $20 debit card was from the "Spend $50/Get $20 Visa card" Deal at R-A from earlier in January.

And the $1.99 check was from Andes mints from December from that manufacturer.  I forgot to take a photo of the check before I cashed this and tucked the monies into my "refund/rebate/post Q" envelope for 2020.

I am still waiting on one more mail-in rebate, a $15 debit card from PandG.

* I earned $9.05 in Ibotta rebates this past week, all at Rite-Aid.  It's funny how if you don't buy stuff at the grocery store the Ibotta rebates don't happen other than a 10¢ for buying "anything" one now and again. ;-)

*  I brought all this home from Rite-Aid on Tuesday and grew my Bonus Cash by .75¢ in the process.............

I went back on Thursday and brought all this home too.........

Same "Spend $30/Get $10 BC" Deal. Subtotaled $32.66($29.95 of it counted toward the Deal and I had credit toward the $30 leftover from the previous purchase).
I used $18.50 in various Qs so $14.16 + .23 tax=$14.39 OOP paid in BC.  Since I only have $13.75 in BC on the card I put the last .64¢ on one of my free R-A gift cards.  I earned back $10 BC and $2 more in Ibotta rebates for the toothbrushes.
The Biscoff cookies gave overage(20% disc. made them $2.71 and the Q was $3/1)so that helped me lower by .29¢ what I owed on the Deal items.

I've got $14 in BC over 3 cards left and I don't have to worry about rolling any of it until at least 2/19/20. rah.

Total "spent" at R-A this week on 2 shops.......$23.64
Total BC earned......$20.00
Total Ibotta rebates earned....$3.00
Not a bad week.

* We have hit our $4K deductible for 2020 on our insurance before the end of January.  A $3,378 charge for a Humira order(plus the cost of an eye injection for Hubs in Jan.)will do that for ya!
Go. me.
Having to pay $4K OOP(our high deductible went from $3K to $4K this year)on medical stuff isn't frugal but for the rest of 2020, our various medical costs will look sane again.  So sad though that TWO charges can amount to that kind of money!

*  I found money!!!

A penny in the parking lot next to my car tire when I got out of my car last Friday at Rite-Aid.

Later at Weis this quarter was lying under the self-check out machine I used to get my freebie bottle of soda.

I was visiting with my friend at Rite-Aid in their break room on Sunday while she had her lunch and this change was scattered all over the floor in there.  It's probably all the young'uns that work there that don't value coins we agreed.  They drop money and just leave it.  If they can't be bothered with it, all the better for me!
I'll have to hang out in the R-A break room more often! lolz

On Tuesday I had to go to Dollar Tree to get my brother a birthday card and I spied this penny sitting next to the register/counter that was closed as I walked into the store.

Later on, while I was in the back of the store by the refrigerated cases I heard a horrible racket up front and I spied the employees dragging the bubble gum machines across the floor to a new location closer to the front door.
After I checked out I casually walked over to where the machines had been and saw this penny sitting on the floor there.

As I picked up that penny I glanced a foot away to where some boxes of merch were yet to be unpacked and saw something shiny between the stack of boxes and the wall.  Reached my hand in there and out came this George Washington!

On Thursday I went to Gabe's to have a look around..........

I haven't been in there since Kim and Sissie came here for my birthday and I took them there.......

Well I am telling you it PAYS to go down the clearance aisles!  Over near where this photo above was taken in 2019 I looked down and found this on the floor..........

.16¢ in coins
I didn't purchase anything in that store so yay me!

Total found money for the week.......  .82¢
Total found money for the year so far.... $2.30

As always stay frugal my friends and tell us about your money wins this past week!

Frugal Friday.....the October 4th Edition

Here's a look around at what frugal wins we had this past week.........

* We picked what is probably the last of the garden veggies.....

Hubs picked the last of the tomatoes, including some green ones.  Except for the Cherokee Purple which we'll reserve for slicing and eating fresh, the rest of the ripe ones went into my last pot of sauce  made from our tomatoes.  Hopefully the green ones ripen soon.

And I went out yesterday in the rain and snipped the last of the broccoli.  I made a chicken, rice, cheese and broccoli casserole Thursday evening for dinner and this was just enough broccoli for it.

Growing your own food saves a ton at the grocery store and if you grow tomatoes you actually get to taste a "real" tomato and not that genetic monster they raise to sell in the grocery store that looks great, travels well but has no actual flavor.

* I found money!

This corroded penny was found in my car when I cleaned it out on Saturday.

These 2 pennies came from Rite-Aid....the nice shiny one inside the store on the floor and the grody one in the parking lot.  It looks like it was run over a few hundred times!lolz

Another penny in Rite-Aid when I went to buy a Sunday paper on Sunday.

And these three in Rite-Aid(where else?!?!)on Monday when I bought all that cereal.

And this lonely penny at Weis by my favorite self-checkout.
Free money tally for the week is .08¢.

*  A free gift card arrived last Friday......

I had enough points with my Hotel Program that I sent off for this $50 gift card.  Now to use this to it's best advantage.

*  I hit Big Lots on Sunday during their 20% off Friends and Family Sale.  I like to stock up on tp at one of these but I didn't need to(see Weis stock ups the week before)so I just got a few things.

Some good deals at Weis..........

And some good deals at Rite-Aid....

And some samples at Rite-Aid as well........

* Between SavingStar and Ibotta I got back $21.10 in cash rebates this past week.
Sweet!

* I also had a number of post coupon/refund situations this past week resulting in $8 cash back---

$4 back at Rite-Aid on Sunday when the cashier hit the total button before taking my Qs.....

$2 back when my 2 digital Qs didn't come off at the Shursave Market.  It was actually $1.99 back($1 and .99¢)but she gave me $2 even.

And $2 back for being overcharged on some clearance turnip greens at Weis.......

* I got the Weis Friday Freebie last week.....

That's about it from here.

What frugal wins did y'all have this past week?
Tell us all about them! 8-)))

An Orgy of Food Shopping

So I went out this weekend to Big Lots.  I like to hit them when they hold one of their "Friends and Family 20% Off Everything in the Store" Event.  Usually it's held 3-4 times a year.
This past weekend was one of these events.

Here are the items I bought that are paid for out of our food/toiletries budget........

2 x Soy Sauce(less Sodium)
2 x Ritz generic crackers
1 x Sirachi Chili Paste
1 x Coconut cookies
1 x Welch's jelly
2 x Pretzel crackers
1 x Veggie crackers
4 x cans of corn
3 x veggie oil
1 x gal.of vinegar
1 x almond extract
2 x tomato paste
2 x rice wine vinegar
1 x mandarin oranges cups

1 x Hefty baggies
1 x Zote laundry soap
3 x Spray n' Wash
1 x box of wet dog food
2 x Swiss Miss dark cocoa mix
2 x seashell pasta
1 x 2 lb. Tyson chicken breasts(not pictured)
$56.80 spent OOP at Big Lots

Everything was a good price regularly(lower or the same as what I pay other places)plus 20% off.
The cocoa mix was a deal because it was 50% on clearance already and I got another 20% off too.

Then I hit Wegman's on the way home.  I don't go there often but they had pork shoulders/butts for cheaper than Maine Source so I went to pick that and a large tub of hummus up(for ex-College Boy).
I also bought a pack of Portabella Mushroom caps and a package of 6.26 lbs. of ground beef, a smaller olive hummus for me and 2 2 lb. blocks of cheddar(Walmart is cheaper for that I couldn't face also having to go to Walmart on a weekend). ;-)
No photos of all that but it came to $58.15 OOP.

Then I hit Weis(PMITA)Markets on Tuesday for all this.......

1 x 2.70 lbs. steak on sale $3.99 lb=$10.77
2 x Nathan's hot dogs on sale $7 used 2 x .55¢/1 Qs that doubled-$2.20=$4.80
4 x stuffed chicken Florentine $11.54-$5 in meat stickers on packages=$6.54
2 x Dannon fruitside yogurt $2-2x .40¢/1 Qs that doubled-$1.60=$.40
3 x Yoplait mix-ins yogurt $3-3 x .40¢/1 Qs that doubled-$2.40=$.60
1 x cuke on sale=$1.00
4 x Value Time bacon 1 lb. packs $3.27=$13.08-5 x $1 off meat stickers=$8.08

I also bought(but not pictured)--
4 x Breyers ice cream on sale $2.99=$11.96
1 x Halo Top ice cream on sale=$4.49
1 x Ben and Jerry slices ice cream on sale=$3.99
The ice cream came to $20.44
I used a $2/1 CatQ on the Halo Top and a $2/1 IPQ on the BandJs, the $1 OYNO Cat I earned for buying 2 Breyer's before, plus got $6 off for buying 6 items so the ice cream all came to $9.44 after discounts/Qs/sale.
Plus I got a .75¢ rebate on the Halo Top on Ibotta which brings my OOP on the ice cream to $8.69
And I got .50¢ rebate on my Saving Star  account for buying the yogurts.

Everything came to $40.63(no tax)or $39.88 after rebate.
The bacon was the same stuff I bought last week with .50¢ meat stickers on them but this week they had $1 stickers and one pack had 2x $1 stickers on it so the bacon was $2.37, $2.37, $2.37 and $1.37.

A totaled the food/toiletries/HBA/paper goods shopping came to $155.58.
I still need to pick up a few things this week(mostly milk and produce).
I'm up over $234 for July and we are only 1/3rd of the way in. sigh.

Frugal Friday....Lucky April 13th Edition

Let's see what Frugal wins we had this past week........

* I already talked about the deals I got at the food stores this past week.

* Last weekend Big Lots had their 20% Friends and Family sale.  We picked up a few things we needed for the house anyway(mostly).  By waiting for this sale event it was nice to get it for cheaper too.
Here are some vinyl tablecloths to dress up the kitchen table for Summer and some socks for College Boy.

We also picked up a set of fleece king size sheets for real cheap.  On clearance for $24 + $4.80 w/the 20% off so $19.20.  I also snagged some nice, heavyweight bath and hand towels on clearance + 20% off.  You can't beat that deal!!
A bath mat for our tub and some dog chews were also carted home, as well as 2 large boxes of wet dog food pouches for Chester.
We wanted to get a nice tea kettle too but they didn't have any at this store.
At any rate even without that we did pretty well.

* It's suppose to be very warm the next two days so I've turned all the heat off and opened windows in the houses.
This is only a brief respite from the cold weather for us but I'll take the no heating on and a lower electric bill because of it.

* We stopped at the Lindt Factory Outlet on the way to Eldest son's apartment.  Some of their chocolates are very tasty and mostly ones you can't get in the stores in their prepackaged bags(hello Citrus Lime Truffles!!!)and ordering them online or even making up a mix and match personalized bag of what you like in the outlet store can be pricey.
I only bought the 1 lb. of the seconds truffles(they only had 2 kinds)which are much cheaper per lb.
I also bought 4 foil bunnies(2 for son and his GF and 2 to bring home)as all the Easter themed chocolate was 1/2 price their outlet price.
I believe this is the least amount I've ever spent at the Lindt factory chocolate outlet!lolz

*  That's about it for this week other than going to Rite-Aid this weekend.  I haven't been anywhere or spent much money this week.  Sticking close to home, reading, genealogy and working on projects.
I'm feeling a bit unlovable and down in the dumps today so I'll wrap this up now.

Did you have any frugal wins lately?

Sluggy
