Frugal Friday.....the October 4th Edition

Here's a look around at what frugal wins we had this past week.........

* We picked what is probably the last of the garden veggies.....

Hubs picked the last of the tomatoes, including some green ones.  Except for the Cherokee Purple which we'll reserve for slicing and eating fresh, the rest of the ripe ones went into my last pot of sauce  made from our tomatoes.  Hopefully the green ones ripen soon.

And I went out yesterday in the rain and snipped the last of the broccoli.  I made a chicken, rice, cheese and broccoli casserole Thursday evening for dinner and this was just enough broccoli for it.

Growing your own food saves a ton at the grocery store and if you grow tomatoes you actually get to taste a "real" tomato and not that genetic monster they raise to sell in the grocery store that looks great, travels well but has no actual flavor.

* I found money!

This corroded penny was found in my car when I cleaned it out on Saturday.

These 2 pennies came from Rite-Aid....the nice shiny one inside the store on the floor and the grody one in the parking lot.  It looks like it was run over a few hundred times!lolz

Another penny in Rite-Aid when I went to buy a Sunday paper on Sunday.

And these three in Rite-Aid(where else?!?!)on Monday when I bought all that cereal.

And this lonely penny at Weis by my favorite self-checkout.
Free money tally for the week is .08¢.

*  A free gift card arrived last Friday......

I had enough points with my Hotel Program that I sent off for this $50 gift card.  Now to use this to it's best advantage.

*  I hit Big Lots on Sunday during their 20% off Friends and Family Sale.  I like to stock up on tp at one of these but I didn't need to(see Weis stock ups the week before)so I just got a few things.

Some good deals at Weis..........

And some good deals at Rite-Aid....

And some samples at Rite-Aid as well........

* Between SavingStar and Ibotta I got back $21.10 in cash rebates this past week.
Sweet!

* I also had a number of post coupon/refund situations this past week resulting in $8 cash back---

$4 back at Rite-Aid on Sunday when the cashier hit the total button before taking my Qs.....

$2 back when my 2 digital Qs didn't come off at the Shursave Market.  It was actually $1.99 back($1 and .99¢)but she gave me $2 even.

And $2 back for being overcharged on some clearance turnip greens at Weis.......

* I got the Weis Friday Freebie last week.....

That's about it from here.

Frugal Friday......the May 10th Edition

Taking a look around Chez Sluggy here are the frugal wins I see............

*  I sent my $15 rebate stuff in.............

Copied and mailed it all in early in the week so let's see how long this one takes.

*  I got these in the mail this past week..........

I sent away for 2 $100 Lowe's gift cards using credit card points and they arrived this week.
$200 of free money to work on home projects this Summer?  Yes, please!

*  Tuesday we hit the garden nursery we like..........

I bought a flat of plants....3/4 of which were veggies-cucumber, squash, broccoli, cauliflower and 4 different tomato varieties-Brandywine(like a beefsteak), Cherokee purple, Amish paste and an Early something.  2 tomato varieties for eating fresh and two for canning.
Spend a little on plants to have fresh veggies this Summer.

The back bed is all planted now.  Once the rain clears out early next week the few tomato plants in the front bed will go in.

*  When we were out on Tuesday we hit the Amish Grocery Outlet....

I picked up some deals plus bottled water and sparkling seltzer.  The mac and cheese cups were .50¢ for 2 cup packs so I got a couple for Ex-College Boy.  The chili beans were .39¢ a can and the family loves them in the chili I make.  The taters and meal kits are for Hubs to make when I am not cooking.

I got lots of other things not pictured like cornbread mix, Asian sauces, fresh blueberries and strawberries, roasted red pepper cream cheese, eggs for .59¢ a dozen, etc.
I didn't go looking for any frozen foods but I had to get these.............

2 x Smithfield frozen mesquite pork loins.  They were 1.7 lbs. each and cost $2.19! That's less than .10¢ an ounce for meat!
If my brother and his wife do come for Daughter's graduation next week I'll serve these up for a meal then.  If not they'll stay in the freezer for awhile. ;-)

*  I used my Rite-Aid Bonus Cash Gas Reward to fill my car..........

6.669 gallons for free, thank you Rite-Aid!  I shouldn't have to get anymore gas for my car in May now.
I have another one of these cards to use before June is over.

*  I got the Weis(PMITA)Markets Friday Freebie last Friday........

A packet of Free taco seasoning.  Not something I use(too much salt!)but if the men folk will be cooking for themselves soon they will need it.....well, Hubs will need it as he can open a packet but he won't look up a recipe and make his own seasoning for tacos. lolz

*  I did hit Rite-Aid on Wednesday and picked this up.............

2 x Softsoap hand soap w/20% Wellness Discount(better than the sale price)=$5.42
I used a $1/2 ManuQ from the Sunday inserts and 2 x $2/1 In-Ad RAQ so $5 off.
.42¢ + .03¢ sales tax=.45¢ OOP paid with Bonus Cash.

*  I found money this week!

.25¢ in the washing machine from an unknown person's pants.

And I found this .02¢ in the drive-thru line at McDonald's when I went to get a $1 drink on a day out.
It was lunch rush so the line was so slow I could stop the car, undo the seat belt, open the door, get out and snag the money and get back in before the line moved again. lolz

That's about it from here.

Frugal Friday.....the June 16th Edition

* Back in late April I bought Right Guard dry spray deodorant on a BOGO offer at Rite-Aid(and used a Q)and sent a mail-in rebate for 1 of the bottle to "Try It Free".

The original post is HERE.
The TMF Offer said they'd deduct the price of any coupon used so I was unsure if I'd get back $7.29, $5.46, $3.64, $3.79, $1.96 or .14¢.
Turns out I got the full $7.29 back..........

So that trip, instead of "spending down" $3.59 in Plenti Points becomes a $3.70 "moneymaker".  I got paid $3.70 to buy all the stuff in that transaction.  8-)

* We like to buy nice/pricey bagels from Panera Bread now and again so I cashed in some c/c points and sent away for this awhile ago and it arrived this week.........

$50 Panera Bread gift card.  This will pay for 7 orders of a Baker's Dozen bagels on Tuesdays(when the dozen bagels are discounted and the only day I will buy them there). 8-)

* I was sent a 15% off any shopping order at Ollies(Good Stuff Cheap!)that was expiring this weekend so I took a trip down the mountain to our local store.  I had found a fabric shower curtain there a few months back for our master bathroom that we had redone last February that I really, really liked and though went well with the color scheme in that room.  We still don't have any kind of curtain on the window in there so I picked up another of the same shower curtain and will turn it into a window curtain. ;-)

I also picked up some other goodies at Ollies--a replacement "good" non-stick pan(which will be used in the Fall once College Boy goes back to school and isn't here ruining my cooking pans), some air fresheners for .58¢ each after 15% off discount, a pantry staples of minced garlic, and some Xmas gifts for cheap(which I can't show or talk about here).
Plus 8 bottles of Dawn dish soap.....

Ollies had the orginal plus a pomegranate scent variety for .89¢ which was .75¢ after my discount so worth stocking up.  I don't mind using that Dollar store variety but I do think Dawn is better(you can use less as it's more concentrated).

* No Take-out this past week, we've been eating home cooked meals as per usual.

* I have begun to pick up items for the kids to cook when we are on our Summer road trip, and incorporating the cost of those into my food budget for the next 4 weeks(4 WEEKS and we are leaving!?! Yikes!)

I found these St. Louis pork ribs with $3 and $2 instant discount stickers on them.  3.83 lbs. of ribs for $1.63 per lb. after sale and sticker.  The kids love ribs and they can either smoke these or just cook them through in the oven or crock pot so easy peasy.

That's about all I got this week besides the usual stuff I do around here that is frugal.

What Frugal Wins did you have this week?
