Frugal Friday......the November 1st Edition

Sorry to be a day late on the Frugal Friday posting.
I do have a good excuse--Halloween night a tree fell on a power line down the road from us so we were without electricity for 18+ hours until almost 6 pm last evening. ugh.

A quick look around here to see what frugal stuff went on at Chez Sluggy this past week........

*  I ran Ibotta deals........
Finished off some Bonuses and regular Ibotta rebates this past week.
$32.14 in Ibotta rebates and $1 in SavingStar rebates so a total of $33.14 in cash rebates earned this past week.

* Remember that refund the Hospital sent me awhile back in July?

A medical co-pay overpayment I made.  the refund was in the form of a prepaid Visa card.
If you wanted the actual CASH back you had to request a check and then it would be another 4-6 weeks before seeing that.
So I dug the card out finally and took the card to my bank and did a cash advance and emptied that prepaid card.

* I had a $5 chit for Kohl's about to expire on Oct. 31st.  I went into my local Kohl''s last week but didn't seen anything worth buying that wouldn't have made me spend much actual monies out of pocket.  I went back this week and an item I eyed on the last trip in that was on the clearance table was marked down about.........

This tabletop fountain was marked down to $20 last week........

Now it was marked down again to $13.39.  I don't usually buy things for myself there but I had a 20% off Q+$5 chit so I got this.

It cost me $7.41 w/tax out of my WAM.
A $66.99 fountain? No thanks.
A $7.41 fountain?  Yes please! 8-)))

* I found money!

I found this slightly groddy quarter at the Weis in the town West of here last Friday.

I also found a change purse in that Weis.  Turned it into the Customer Service and the owner was standing there conducting some business and hadn't even noticed she dropped it.  The purse had her rent money in it and she couldn't thank me enough times to have it back. ;-)

And I found this quarter at Rite-Aid on Thursday right near the register.  Who drops a quarter and doesn't pick it up?!?! lolz

*  Some freebies at Rite-Aid..........

Pantene Shampoos and Conditioners, Olay body wash, Toothpaste and Dental Floss.
I'll pick up some more of this sort of thing today before the sale ends and finish out some of the various deals that stacked this week on P&G stuff.

* A new bank opened up in my town and they had an Open House last weekend.  I went in to look around, get some free food and maybe win a BMW they were giving away..............

Didn't win the car but I won this nifty coffee mug! lolz  I brought this chocolate covered rice krispies treat home along with a bottled water, a slice of nasty pizza(which Hubs ate, of course!lol)and a small container of bbq from a local bbq joint that opened up here.
The cue was good which is nice because we won a gift certificate for there at the church auction last month. ;-)

*  I sold something on eBay!

This throw blanket went for $32.  Better to sell it than have it sitting around my house for another ten years, right?  I made $22 gross on this sale(haven't figured out the net yet after fees, stupid fees).

That's about it for this week in my world.

What frugal wins did y'all come up with this week?

Frugal Friday......the October 11th Edition--On Sunday

Here's the frugaliciousness that went on this past week in Sluggy's World.......

*  I went to Weis a week ago this past Friday............

The tissues were the Friday Freebie that week.  Of course I picked out a purple box. lol

The Celentano items were BOGOFree and I used a Q as well.
The Asian items were all on 50% clearance as was the Mrs. Renfroe's salsa.

* On Saturday Hubs and I attended the annual church auction we go to each year near our house.

We got lots of restaurant, gas and car services, and a grocery store gift cards/certificates to places we frequent/spend money anyway.  We also won a gift card to a new to us pub we wanted to try.
We don't bid on many "things" anymore but Hubs did win a metric ratchet set as he only has the US type.  I won a basket of home canned relishes/jellies and a Dr. Scholl's foot spa thing(got it dirt cheap).
I don't know how much we saved on the reg. retail of these gift cards/things but I'll figure that out when I get home.
We kept the spending on this under $250 too.  I budgeted $300 so that was a win in and of itself.

*  I found money!

This penny was found under the Weis self-checkout machine I used on Friday.

And this penny was found in Rite-Aid when I went to pick-up an Rx.

This is my new to me computer bag.  Hubs had 2 of his old computer bags from work in the donate pile.  I asked Ex-CB if he could use one so he took the nicer one.  I also needed a better computer bag so I took this one that was left.
When I got to Ocean City and started unpacking my machine I heard a jingling noise in the pocket.

This .68¢ in change was in that pocket.  Hubs was going to unknowingly throw away this money!
It's a good thing I rescued that bag and this cash, right?

It also put me .68¢ ahead in the Found Money competition with Kim while in OC.
Kim was fit to be tied! lolz

I didn't find any more money until the end of our time in OC.  After Sissie went home Kim and I joined forces and had 'fun our way" and ended up splitting $1.64 in found change on Wednesday. 8-)))

Also on Wednesday I found 1¢ at Ollie's(the shiny one)and another 1¢ on the wooden walkway over the dune to the beach on Assateague Island(the sand encrusted one).
All together I am $1.54 richer for the week. ;-)

*  I got a good deal on the hotel room in Ocean City.  October is the off season but it's still really warm(I think it hit 80 degrees one day while we were there), the rates are about 1/4 of what they charge for an oceanfront balcony room and best of all, NO tourists!!!  You would know what a blessing this is if you have ever been to OC during the high season. lolz

                                The view from our balcony.

The room was a suite with a sofa bed, chair and tv in the sitting area and had a full kitchen.  We brought some groceries and hit a grocery store for more food so we didn't have to pay the outrageous OC prices at restaurants there(unless we wanted to).  The hotel had an indoor pool and a hot tub which we availed ourselves of most nights.
And we split the cost of the room 3 ways so it was quite affordable for everyone.

*  We hit the outlets.
Hubs and Ex-CB both wanted me to get them some shoes if I found good deals.  I found Hubs some Converse but they only had one pair in his size and they were running a BOGO50% sale there.

So I was forced to buy myself these awesome Crocs at that store and they were 50% off. ;-)

*  While stopping at Mickey D's to get Kim a Diet Coke on Wednesday I spied an old newspaper in an abandoned high chair in the dining room there.

There was a coupon insert in the bowels of that paper.  I took the insert since no one was there and the newspaper was abandoned.
A free Q insert?
Yes, please!

*  I received $1(for the Celentano items)in my Ibotta account last week.

*  I sold 2 items on eBay and shipped them out(well Hubs shipped one out for me)before going to OC.

This out of production afghan throw from the late 1990's.....I accepted an offer of $30 on it.

And this pair of new in the box, long discontinued style skater shoes, I listed at $125 and accepted an offer of $100 on.

Back in 2009 I hit a really good clearance sale on 6pm dotcom and bought Ex-College Boy 5 pairs of this color/style skate shoe in various sizes as his feet were still growing(as well as the rest of him).
When I dug out his old closet I found this pair that he never wore(I guess he got tired of this style/color after awhile lol)so I reclaimed them and put them on eBay.  This is a high end skate shoe company, the style was discontinued/retired years ago and they had been endorsed by an old skating pro so I knew I could sell them and make a few dollars.
The best part was I had only paid $10 for them on clearance so $100 was a really nice profit and one more thing outta my house!! 8-)))

That's all from here for the week.

What frugal wins did y'all have this past week?

Frugal Friday....the August 3rd Edition

Let's take a look at what "frugalness" we accomplished this past week......

* I found a penny in the Rite-Aid parking lot...........

With my luck though it was a Canadian penny and I don't think they even use those anymore. lolz

*  I had Hubs get the Weis Friday Freebie last week since it was something we could use......

Free hamburger rolls?  Yes, please!

*  I went online to Coupons dotcom on August 1st to snag coupons I thought I might use this month.
Coupons are only available in a limited quantity online so best to print them at the first of the month. (Use to be totally true but nowadays some brands put their coupons online during the month too so best to check back at the coupon sites later in the month too.) In addition with some brands, when there is a good sale using those particular coupons coming up, some coupons may be pulled before the week of the sale so it's good to look at coming week's sales flyers for the stores you shop at so you can print them before they are taken down.
It's a game folks and you need to be a step ahead of the stores and the manufacturers.

*  I got paid to bring some things home from Rite-Aid..........

I got paid $1.56 after Bonus Cash used and earned back to bring all this home.

*  I sent away for a free $50 Target gift card so I can pair it with that $10 when you spend $50 coupon Target mailed me. The gift card is paid for with c/c points.

*  I picked lots of veggies from the garden last week........

 one squash....
 2 squash and 2 zukes
4 squash and 3 zuke(including the behemoth one)

1 squash and 1 zuke
Do you think we have enough yellow squash and zucchini now? lololz

*  And quite out of the blue since it's been a while and I forget I have things up there, I sold something on eBay!

This set of unopened 7 miniature Star Wars Lego vehicles sold.  After fees and what I paid I should net $103+.  These all cost me under $22(with tax)when I bought them years ago at Walmart.
Go me! 8-))

*  I also earned $2.00 on Ibotta for various things.  Actually this was for the previous week but I forgot to put it on there.
I really need to start making a list and adding to it as something frugal occurs so I stop forgetting things by Friday. ugh.

And that's all for me this week.

Remember the words of The Most Frugal Man in the World.......

Frugal Friday......February 16th Edition

Let's see what the Frugal Fairy brought us this past week..........

*  I had Hubs pick up this freebie since he had to go by Weis(PMITA)Markets last Friday anyway.

I clipped a digital Weis Q in my account for a free jar of sauce.  Of course, the Q didn't come off when he used my card so he had to pay $1.50 for it and then go to the Customer Service desk to get his $1.50 back.  Management doesn't let CS know there is a freebie on Fridays so they hadn't a clue what he was talking about.
Get your shit together Weis Markets!!

*  I sold a lot on eBay for $40 on Sunday.  Two tubes of fancy pants shampoo that is no longer made-$20 a tube.  I got it at Rite-Aid awhile back for free after sales/Qs/PPs or +Up Rewards or whatever thing was given out at that time so pure profit after eBay/Paypal fees.

*  I  turned on F/B notifications for the Hershey Olympics promotion so every time Team USA wins a gold medal you can access a link to print off two copies of a Q for a free Hershey's Gold candy bar!
I also emailed the link to myself, ran upstairs, accessed my email up there and printed the Q 4 more times, twice from two different computers upstairs.  8-)))

The Q is for $1.50 off a bar not a FREE Q so if you find it for less then $1.50 make sure you have something else in your transaction to absorb the overage......which also means something else for free or cheaper.  ;-)
The problem now is to find any of these candy bars on the shelves around here before the Qs expire. lolz

*  Lots of freebies or better than free after sale/qs/bonus cash earned at Rite-Aid on Wednesday--bags of sugar-free chocolate, Orei candy bars and light bulbs.

*  Here are the best deals I got at Weis(PMITA)Markets this past week.....

L to R--
-Gorton's seafood was half price and you got an instant $2 off wyb3. Shrimp was $3.99, 2 x fish bags were $3.49 each so $10.97 subtotal.  After the $1/1 Gorton's Shrimp Q and $2 off instantly I paid $7.97 for all 3 items.

-4 x Huggies wipes, frozen Weis french fries(wanted a bag of veggies instead but they were out)and Polly-O string cheese sticks(so Daughter can make a stuffed crust pizza w/them)were $7.44 for all 6 items after instant $3 off wyb6 items, plus $2.50 in coupons I used-one .50¢ Q doubled/3 did not(and a digital .50¢ Q that doubled and also came off).

-The Yes! soup was on sale 3/$5 and I used 3 x .75¢Qs that doubled to $1.50 each so $5.00-$4.50=.50¢ for all 3 cans.

-The cashier didn't ring up my mushrooms(which I didn't know until I checked my receipt when I got home)which were on sale for $2 a carton.  This explains why the register wouldn't take the .50¢ Q I had for them and she had to put it through manually.  So I got paid .50¢ to buy those free mushrooms. lolz

-I had a Weis Q that was expiring that day for .75¢ a bag of Weis brand shredded cheese.  It wasn't on sale so would have cost me $1.19 after Q.  When I went to get a bag there was a sign that if you bought 2 cans of Hormel chili and the cheese you got $1.50 off the bag of cheese instantly.  I went round to the chili aisle and the Hormel chili was on sale for 2/$3....AND I had a .55¢/2 Hormel chilis Q(which doubles to $1.10 off).

So cheese $2.69+2 cans chili at $3=$5.69-instant $1.50 off cheese and .75¢ Weis cheese Q and $1.10 off chili=$2.34 for all 3 items total BUT I also had a digital Q for the chili evidently because another $1.10 came off(a .55¢ digital Q that doubled)so my 3 items cost $1.24 OOP in the end. ;-)

-I also had a Weis Q expiring that day for .50¢ a loaf of bakery French bread.  I snagged a 50% loaf on the day old rack for .95¢-.50¢Q=.45¢ for the loaf.

Plus these items I couldn't fit in the photo above---

-2 x 8 O'Clock coffee was BOGOFree so $2.74 a bag.  I used 2 x $1/1Qs so $1.74 a bag OOP.
Plus I received a $1 cash rebate on Ibotta for buying the Infusion type of that coffee so I am OOP $2.48 for both bags total.
They were out of the Caramel Macchiato College Boy likes so I got a rain check for more and held onto some other Qs I had for the coffee for later use when his flavor is back in stock.

-I had a $2.50/1 Nutella 13 oz or larger Catalina I had gotten at Xmas time expiring that day so I picked that up too.  It was on sale for $2.99 so it cost me .49¢ total after the Q.

My coupons were all messed up and I was credited with $24.30 in Qs even though it should have been only $21.70 in Qs.  I had 2 digital Qs come off(and double)plus  another wipes Q doubled(even though they say on them do not double)plus I got .50¢ off for mushrooms I "didn't buy". lolz
I guess it all evens out in the end as sometimes I get shorted on my Qs because of cashier inattentiveness and I just don't feel like going to CS that day and dealing with getting it made right.  Some days it's a big enough hassle just DOING the shopping and not having to also FIX the shopping. sigh

I also got another .25¢ cash back on Ibotta for buying anything in the store so $48.54 spent on $117.33 worth of groceries make a 58% savings rate plus $1.25 cash back so I am OOP $47.34 for everything I bought on Wednesday.  Pretty good considering I didn't get any Instant Discount meats this trip either.  8-)))

What's frugal wins have you had lately?
