ReplyDeleteSo we all need to know the story of Ann and the white go go boots.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Anne! I'm dating myself here, but I owned that Nancy Sinatra single and used to play it on my old record player! Now off to google what song was on the other side!
ReplyDeleteAnswering my own question: "The City Never Sleeps at Night".
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Sluggy! The virtual chocolate has my mouth watering!
ReplyDeleteSam, I wanted white go go boots when I was much younger___badly! Not only would Dad not buy any for me, he would not let me buy them with my own money. He was a stickler for not caving into fads. I was not happy, and when I am not happy everyone knowns. Evidently I have a death glare that I use without even knowing it. You know all about family lore. Well the go go boot story evolved, and was mentioned whenever someone did not get what they really wanted (New job, raise, boat___name your poison!) and whined or glared about it. I finally found a plaque at a craft fair that said "You're over 40 , quit whining and go buy your own damn go go boots"
Love that story!! I have a funny (sad?) story kind of similar that I’ve shared with my kids and grandkids especially when whining about wanting something and they have so much ….ha! When I was about 10 all I wanted was a pair of white patent leather pointed toe slip on shoes (we usually got one pair of school shoes a year). It was Easter so I drew around my foot on paper (to get the correct size ha!) and put it in my Easter basket with the plea! Times are so different now as my kids and grandkids can’t believe there were no shoes on Easter. Maybe I was younger cause I believed in the bunny!
ReplyDeleteI laughed at the cleverness of the marketing of emotional support candy.
ReplyDeleteI love the story about the boots! My mom had white go-go boots. I thought they were so cool! And I loved the video!!
