More Rite-Aid.....Free Cosmetics Anyone?

So a $6/2 Cover Girl Q popped up on the coupons dotcom earlier this week along.

There was also a Dentyne .75¢ cash rebate off on Checkout51(rebate expired Wednesday night but it's back for this week too)that paired nicely with a Dentyne sale at Rite-Aid.

Plus all those high value Hershey Qs I have from the Olympics Promo are expiring in 11 days so I needed to get them used up!

And I realized that those Schick razors I bought on Sunday?....you can only have one Wellness card attached to your Ibotta account and I bought them on one of the other two cards NOT attached to Ibotta......so I needed to rebuy them on the card that is attached.  I'll just keep the other two razor packs since they "cost" me $1 each in PPs so I can live with that.  8-)  I also ended up doing the Schick razors on the third card too because $1 for razors is awesome, right?  ;-)

All this meant I bought a few things *cough cough* when I went up to Rite-Aid to get an Rx on Wednesday.

First was this lot..........

2 x CG mascara BOGO50%=$11.53
2 x CG eye shadow BOGO50%=$9.43
3 x Dentyne gum on sale=$3.00
2 x Hershey candy bars on sale=$1.38
2 x Schick razors on sale=$12.00
SubTotal.....$37.34

Coupons Used
2 x $6/2 CoverGirl IPQ=$12.00
2 x $1.50/1 Hershey bars IPQ=$3.00
2 x $3/1 Schick razors IPQ=$6.00
Coupon Total.......$21.00

$37.34-$21.00=$16.34

Except a $3/1 CG Load2CardQ also came off(didn't expect this)so $37.34-$24.00=$13.34+.28¢tax=$13.62
$2 in BC came off leaving me a total of $11.62, which I paid for with Plenti Points.

I earned back $15 in new Bonus Cash(2 x $5 wyb $10 CoverGirl, 2 x $2 Schick razors, $1 wyb3 Dentyne gum).
I submitted for a $2.25 Dentyne cash rebate on Checkout51(.75¢ x 3 offers-limit is 5 offers)and it's been credited to my account there.
I'll also earn $2 for buying 2 Schick razors now since I used the correct Wellness card finally on Ibotta.

So $13.62 paid in BC and PPs and $19.25 earned back in cash and BC.

Then I bought more CG on my card...........

1 x CG lip stick=$8.79
1 x CG eye shadow kit=$6.29
1 x CG pencil 50%=$3.24
1 x CG brow pencils 50%=$2.39
4 x Hershey bars on sale=$2.76
SubTotal.....$23.47

Coupons Used
2 x $6/2 CoverGirl IPQ=$12.00
4 x $1.50/1 Hershey bars IPQ=$6.00
Coupon Total.....$18.00

But again, a $3/1 CG Load2CardQ came off so $21 in Qs.

$23.47-$21.00=$2.47
A $2 Bonus Cash came off so I paid .47¢ on my Rite-Aid gift card.
I earned back $10 in BC(2 x $5 Cover Girl)on this transaction.

Then on my Daughter's card I bought this......

1 x CG face powder=$9.29
1 x CG mascara=$6.29
1 x CG eye shadow kit 50%=3.14
1 x CG mascara 50%=$3.14
2 x Schick razors=$12.00
5 x Hershey bars on sale=$3.45
Subtotal......$37.31

Coupons Used
2 x $6/2 CoverGirl IPQ=$12.00
2 x $3/1 Schick razor IPQ=$6.00
4 x up to $1.50/1 Hershey IPQ(took off $1.15each)=$4.60*
1 x $1.50/1 Hershey IPQ=$150
Coupon Total....$24.10

$37.31-$24.10=$13.21

But another $3/1 CG Load2CardQ and a .50¢/2 Hershey's L2CQ came off so $27.60 in Qs leaving me with $9.71 + .17¢tax=$9.88,
A $7 Bonus Cash came off leaving me $2.88 OOP which I paid with PPs.

I earned back $14 in new BC(2 x $5 CG, 2 x $2 Schick).

* 4 of my Hershey Qs were "up to $1.50 off 1" and not a straight $1.50 off 1(they changed the wording near the end of the Olympic Promo-giving away too much maybe?).  I had the cashier scan my Wellness card AFTER she put all the coupons through in this transaction so instead of taking .69¢ off those 4 bars the register took off the full retail price of $1.15 each giving me overage to apply to other items in the transaction just like the $1.50/1 Qs did.

Grand Total Spent in PPs/BC/gift card.......$25.97
Grand Total Earned in BC and cash rebates....$43.25($39 BC/$4.25 cash)

This makes all the above 3 transactions a $17.28 moneymaker.

Since the Checkout51 Dentyne rebate is back this week, you can buy 3 packs, pay $3 and earn $1 back in BC and submit your receipt to Checkout51 and get $2.25 cash back in that account making this a .25¢ moneymaker, no coupons needed.

Hurry and print that Cover Girl Q(2 prints per computer)as well.  Keep your 4 CG items below $22 but over $20 before Qs and BC earned and this will get you some free make-up which is pretty sweet.
My lot of cosmetics will be heading for future Giveaway boxes. 8-)))

Rite-Aid This Week & Last Friday

So I had to go to Rite-Aid on Friday anyway so I did the Russell Stover Easter egg Deal on my son's card.........

4 x R/S eggs=$2 paid for with Plenti Points as this card had no Bonus Cash on it right now.
I earned back $2 in Bonus Cash so basically I converted PPs to BCs here and these were free.

I was also able while in the store to let a few other customers know about the free Easter candy Deal.  There was no signage on the display indicating the offer so I talked it up to anyone who wanted to listen.  ;-)

Then I saw my store had tons of the large candy bars with .50¢ instant discount stickers on them.
These bars were also on sale BOGOFree last week, making every two candy bars .99¢ or .49¢/.50¢ each.

16 candy bars for $7.92 total(I paid with PPs).  This should hold the candy fiends around here for awhile...or should I say my Easter basket shopping is completed?   ;-)

So Sunday I hopped up to Rite-Aid to finish off the "Morning Routine Spend $20/Get $5 BC" Deal I began last week.
I bought this last week........

5 Colgate items which "cost" me $3.03(with tax)in spending(gift card or BC or PPs)and I had $19.95 tracking toward a $20 spend.

This Morning Routine Deal is a monthly deal so go through March and not just a 2 week deal like I thought.
So I bought all this in two separate transactions on Sunday..........

6 x Irish Spring body wash on sale=$23.94
2 x Schick razors on sale=$12.00
7 x Hershey bars on sale(.69¢)=$4.83
SubTotal....$40.77

Coupons Used
6 x $1/1 Irish Spring body wash(IPQ or ManuQ)=$6.00
6 x $2/1 Irish Spring body wash In-AdQ=$12.00
2 x $3/1 Schick razor(men or women's)IPQ=$6.00
7 x $1.50/1 Hershey Gold bar IPQ(Olympics promo)=$10.50
Coupon Total.....$34.50

$40.77-$34.50=$6.27+.05¢tax=$6.32

Except the cashier missed one of the Irish Spring Qs so the total paid was $7.32($1.54 was put on my R-A gift card and $5.78 was paid for in Plenti Points(as I had no BC on this card).

I received $1 cash for the missed Q.
I have earned back $14 in Bonus Cash(2 x $5 Morning Routine, 2 x $2 Schick)and $2 cash from Ibotta($1 for each razor).

The body washes Sunday "cost" $5.99 and the Colgate items "cost" $3.03 so $9.02 total and earned me $10 in new BC making all the Morning Routine Deal items a moneymaker.

The Schick razors were $6 after Qs used and the overage on the candy bars made them free plus attached to the $6 from the razors, making all razors and candy cost me .33¢
$9.02 for MR Deal items + .33¢ for razors and candy=$9.35 at the register(paid with PPs/BC/gift card).

OOP $9.35 for those 20 items bought and earned $16 back in cash/BC=$6.65 moneymaker.
And that overage covered most of the cost of all those large candy bars so I am only "down" $1.27 for everything talked about in this post.

If you have the Schick razor offer in your Ibotta account, go on Coupons dotcom to print 2 x the $3/1 Schick razor Q, throw the Schick razor offers(1 men's and 1 women's razor)into your Ibotta account and go get you some free razors!

This Week on the Dining Table

The "Finally Time to Celebrate" Edition--
Everyone was finally on the mend and Hubs was home from Louisiana so we took College Boy out for his birthday meal late last week.  He wanted to go the the hibachi place and we did it for lunch as CB had to go to his internship that evening and it was great as the place was less crowded during the day(plus the prices were a tad less).  8-)
As you can see for the photo I had a bit of sake in me by this point. lolz

Moving On....

Onward to the meal planning!

1. Sunday--Fend for Yourself/Leftovers
2. Monday--Leftover Fajitas, Spanish Rice
3. Tuesday--Beef Teriyaki, Broccoli, Rice
4. Wednesday--Halushki, Kielbasi on Rolls
5. Thursday--Stroganoff, Rice
6. Friday--Leftovers
7. Saturday--Birthday meal out for CB

And this is what actually happened--

1. Sunday--Leftovers or FFY
2. Monday--Leftovers or FFY
3. Tuesday--Hubs and I went to Bob Evans
4. Wednesday--Halushki, nobody felt like Kielbasi
5. Thursday--Birthday meal out for CB
6. Friday--Frozen Pizza
7. Saturday--Leftovers of FFY

Last week saw 2 nights of home cooked dinners(if you count frozen pizza), 3 nights of leftovers/fend for yourself, 0 night of take-out and 2 nights of Eating out.   I was still feeling punky so there wasn't much home cooking.  The Stroganoff and Teriyaki move to this week.

1 trip to the Bread Outlet, 1 trip to Weis and 1 trip to Maines restaurant supply brought the shopping last week to $68.30.  That brings March's food spending total to $72.30.  There are 20 days left in my shopping month.

My savings percentages last week was 48.10% and the monthly savings so far ends up at 47.06%(without Rite-Aid trips added in).

Leftovers going into this week.......fajita filling and halushki.  We've pretty much cleared the decks of leftovers now.

Here is this week's "food plan".....

1. Sunday--Lemon Pepper chicken and zucchini, rice
2. Monday--Beef Teriyaki stir-fry w/Broccoli, rice
3. Tuesday--chicken Parmesan, Pear Gorgonzola Salad(Spaghetti too for Hubs)
4. Wednesday--Leftovers
5. Thursday--Beef Stroganoff, rice, mixed Veggies
6. Friday--Fend for Yourself
7. Saturday--Corned Beef, Cabbage, Carrots

This week will see 5 new meals cooked, 2 nights of leftovers/FFY and 0 night of Take-out/Eat-Out.
I need to buy PG Salad mix, more cabbage(used it all last week on the Haluski)and corned beef.

What is getting fixed and served at your house this week?

Was last week's plan successful, did you go off plan or did you not even plan what was going to be eaten last week?

Any great deals on food at your stores this week?

You Can Call Me Al....er, Allah

Not that I am joking about Islam and please, I hope no one out there tries to issue a Fatwah against me but I had to make a funny in this post's title.
I don't know if anyone out there is old enough to get the song reference in the title but I just had to do it. ;-)

An article popped up on my news feed the other day about how Queen Elizabeth II is a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad.
News article HERE.

Since "Liz" is my 17th cousin 2 x removed(our common ancestors being Ralph de Neville 1364-1425 and his wife Joan de Beaufort 1375-1440....Elizabeth is descended from Ralph and Joan's daughter, Cecily de Neville and I am descended from Ralph and Joan's son, George de Neville, 1st Baron Latimer)I thought I'd do the actual linking work and work this Muslim line into my tree and see what happens.

An ancestral line of Muhammad descended into Spanish lands and noble houses, namely Seville and Castile.
Al Mu'tamid was the King of Seville at one point and ruler of Cordoba, parts of an ununified Spain that were controlled by Muslims.  Al Mu'tamid is the 14th Great Grandson of Muhammad.

Al Mu'tamid had a daughter, Zaida, who fled when the Abassid kingdom fell to the Berbers to the part of Spain ruled by Alfonso VI-the lands of  Leon, Castille and Galicia.  Zaida ended up marrying Alfonso VI and converting to Catholicism, taking the name Isabella.  There descendants brought many Spanish noble families into Muhammad's lines of descent.

Al Mu'tamid's granddaughter, Sancha Alfonsez, was the Infanta of Castille. Sancha Alfonsez's 4 x Great Granddaughter, Maria Juana de Padilla was the mistress of King Pedro(or Peter in English) "el Cruel" of Castile.

Drawing of Maria Juana de Padilla

Maria Juana de Padilla was the mistress of King Peter(the Cruel)of Castile. Maria was the 22nd Great Granddaughter of Muhammad  She produced three daughters with Peter of Castile; Beatrice, Constance and Isabella and a son, Alfonso the crown prince of Castile(who died at 3 years).

My 19th GGrandfather, John of Gaunt, married as his second wife Peter of Castile and Maria Padilla's eldest daughter, Constance of Castile.  John and Constance's daughter, Catherine of Lancaster, was the GGrandmother of Catherine of Aragaon(being named for her GGrandmother).  Catherine of Aragon was Henry VIII of England's first wife.  Catherine of Aragon is my 3rd cousin 17 x removed.

Constance of Padilla, my 19th GGrandfather's second wife, was the sister of Isabella of Padilla, one of Maria de Padilla and King Peter of Castile's other daughters.  Isabella de Padilla married Edmund of Langley, 1st Duke of York.  Edmund is my 20th Great Uncle.  Edmund and my 19th GGrandfather, John of Gaunt, were full brothers and sons of Edward III of England. (Edward III is my 20th GGrandfather.)

                         Painting of John of Gaunt

My direct line being John of Gaunt and his mistress, later his third wife, Katherine de Roet Swynford- they are my 19th GGrands.  So John of Gaunt's descendants with his other wives-Blanche of Lancaster(who was also John's 3rd cousin via Henry III)and Constance de Padilla are all full cousins of mine.
John of Gaunt and Blanche's son Henry IV became King of England and is my 19th Great Uncle.

John of Gaunt's children, by one of his three wives, descended all subsequent sovereigns of Scotland beginning in 1437 and all sovereigns of England, Great Britain and the United Kingdom from 1603 to the present day.
The three houses of English sovereigns that succeeded the rule of Richard II in 1399, the Houses of Lancaster, York and Tudor, were all descended from John's children; Henry IV, Joan of Beaufort and John Beaufort, respectively.
I am a direct descendant of Joan of Beaufort, though NOT the line that succeeded to the English throne.

Queen Elizabeth II's 19 x Great Grandmother is Maria Juana de Padilla.
Maria Juana de Padilla is the mother in-law of my 19th GGrandfather John of Gaunt which makes the Prophet Muhammad the step 24th Grandfather of my 18th GGrandmother.
John Gaunt's wife, Constance of Castile(the daughter of Maria Juana de Padilla and Muhammad's direct descendant)is the stepmother of my direct ancestor, John of Gaunt's daughter(with his third wife Katherine Swynford), Joan de Beaufort, my 18th GGrandmother.

I am sure that once I connect all the royal and noble Castile, Aragon and Portugese lines up with my tree I may have a closer relationship to Muhammad via one of these.

Some day I'll do a post about some of these notable figures in history that supposedly I can lay claim to  genetically.
But for now I've got a "step" familial link to what one could say is the most famous Islamic figure.  8-)

If all this makes your eyes cross just go to the top of this post and listen to the video.  ;-)
