This Week on the Dining Table

The "I Can't Keep Up!" Edition................

Here is the latest large colander of tomatoes Hubs picked on Sunday.  He had just picked another bowl worth on Friday.  I am drowning in tomatoes!  That's always how it is with tomatoes(and zucchini).....you either have almost none or you have bowls of them all at once.  8-)))

Hopefully by tomorrow I'll be ready to process it all in the water bath canner.  I've been throwing bags of tomatoes into the freezer(easier to de-skin them that way)and have almost a full stock pot of mater pulp now.  The jars are out and ready and canning will happen soon now! ;-)

Everything happened except the steak but it didn't necessarily happen on the night it was planned.  Meals were changed up according to Ex-CB schedule, weather or me being too tired or not inclined to cook a particular entree on a particular night.

Two trips to Weis($34.14),a trip to Shurfine Market($16.42), a run to the Bread Outlet($10.00)and a forgotten trip earlier in the month to Ollie's($5.17) brought the weekly spending to $65.73 and my August Grand Total spending on food to $304.16.

What is getting fixed and served at your house this week?

Was last week's plan successful, did you go off plan or did you not even plan what was going to be eaten last week?

Any great deals on food at your stores this week?

Everything actually got cooked/eaten as planned AND the specific day planned!  Amazing!! ;-)
I did very little actual cooking last week so that was nice.  Unfortunately most of the leftovers are gone now....boo!.......so that means this coming week I'll be in the kitchen quite a bit.

What got put into the freezer last week.....
*  1 package of Brats bought for Thursday's dinner but not used

What got taken out of the freezer and used last week.......
* Nothing because of using up leftovers

Lots of little grocery trips..... smallish trips to Weis($6.64/$1.56/$20.94), a big $65.64 trip to Weis, a trip to Walmart($10.94), a trip to Maines for produce($14.17), a trip to Aldi for produce($14.55) and a trip to P&R Discount Outlet( $4.36)brought the weekly food spending to $138.80 and brought the February monthly total to $319.69 so far.

What is getting fixed and served at your house this week?

Was last week's plan successful, did you go off plan or did you not even plan what was going to be eaten last week?

This Week on the Dining Table

The Funniest Fortune Cookie EVER!"" Edition.........

Even better than the typo on the menu at the Hibachi restaurant from last year that served "Red Snapple" on a bed of rice. Mmmm......I didn't know that Snapple was a fish. lolz

Moving On....

Onward to the meal planning!

This is what was planned--

1. Sunday--Leftovers or Fend for Yourself
2. Monday--Hoagies
3. Tuesday--Seafood Buffet

5. Thursday--Spaghetti and Meatballs, Tossed Salad
6. Friday--Strip Steak, Baked Taters, Brussels Sprouts
7. Saturday--Marinated Pork Loin, Sugar Snap Peas, Teriyaki Rice

Sometimes the plan happens and sometimes I go rogue if I find a great deal or just aren't feeling what I had planned.
I did use up some Turkey Day leftovers making a casserole w/turkey, stuffing, carrots and Campbell's soup.  We aren't much of a turkey soup family here so this worked to use up stuff.
The Seafood Buffet didn't happen because I couldn't find the fish in the freezer and it's too cold out in the garage to dig around much.  When it turns up it will get used. ;-)

Last week saw 4 nights of home cooked dinners, 2 nights of leftovers/fend for yourself, 1 night of Eating Out/Take-Out. Primo Hoagies had a Cyber Monday special so we indulged.

A couple of grocery trips.....1 to the Bread Outlet($10.16), a couple of veggies at Shursave($1.98)and a small Weis shop($22.17)brought the weekly food spending to $40.31 and brought the December monthly total to $40.31 so far.

I have 28 days left in my shopping month for December.
December already?!
Seriously......

My savings percentage last week was 65.25%(without Rite-Aid trips)and December's monthly savings total comes to 65.25%(w/out R-A)so far.  The percentage is so high because there was very little grocery store shopping and a good sized Bread Outlet shop.

Leftovers going into this week.....rolls, Hawaiian rolls, some spaghetti and meatballs in sauce.

Here is this week's "food plan".....

1. Sunday--Beef Stroganoff, Rice
2. Monday--Spaghetti, Meatballs in sauce, Salad?
3. Tuesday--Bratwurst on rolls, Potato Salad, Spinach
4. Wednesday--Beef Pie
5. Thursday--Pork Tenderloin Sandwiches, Sweet Potato Fries
6. Friday--Leftovers

What needs buying for this menu? Green Beans and if I can find a bag of Salad

Last week saw 4-5 nights of home cooked dinners, 1-2 night of leftovers/fend for yourself/tv dinners, 1 night of Take-Out or Eating Out.
I didn't buy any lobster last week because I found other clearance/pantry deals to use up the rest of the monthly grocery budget including some discount meats(sausages, fryer chicken).  We also didn't make a pizza either.
Maybe I'll get some lobster this week if I want to splurge out but haven't checked the PC ad yet to see if they are still on sale.

Lots of cooking since we didn't have many leftovers from the previous week(other than squash).
Too hot to run the oven for quiche so it's off the menu until the weather turns.

Two small trips to both Weis and the Shursave Markets and the Target trip(along with the Bread Outlet trip I forgot last week)brought the weekly food spending to $101.18 and the monthly total to $287.57.

Hubs and I didn't have a lunch out on Tuesday after all either.  Maybe this week?

1 trip to Weis and two items from Shursave Markets brought the shopping last week to $110.49.  A little shop and a big old whopper of a shop last week.  That brings March's food spending total to $355.12.  There are 5 days left in my shopping month and I'm not done yet.  Sunday I picked up my free ham at Weis and I did buy a few things.  I am also out of onions so I'll probably go to the restaurant supply store and lay a supply in this week(might put that bill onto April's budget however).  Stay tuned...... ;-)
