Frugal Friday......the March 29th Edition

Still trying to get a handle on life after vacation here but we had a few frugal wins this past week.........

*  Last Friday we left Chesapeake to see my son in Fredericksburg, VA.  I hit a Rite-Aid along the way for some of that mascara and toothpaste I posted about the other day so you don't need a recap of all that. lolz

*  Once we got to F'burg I took my son out to Weis(PMITA)Markets so we could pick up dinner.  Weis advertised as part of their Fantastic Friday sale Freschetta pizzas for $1.77 each.  When we got to the store they had posted on the door where the pizza was that the $1.77 price was an error and they should be $3.99 each so not to excellent deal it was suppose to be.  We still bought 2 pizzas, while I grumbled the entire time. lolz  The first pizza DID ring up for $1.77(since they advertised it at this price, per Weis policy they had to sell you one for $1.77)but the second pizza rang up $3.99. Boo.
Still paying for 2 take-out pizzas or going out for 2 pizzas would have been much more than the $5.76 I spent.

*  While in Weis I also picked up the Friday Freebie and left at son's apartment for them to eat.
Didn't take a photo of it before we left so here's a graphic of the item. ;-)

*  On Saturday after visiting a winery we took son and GF out to eat for lunch.

 I had $50 in Dickey's Barbecue gift cards and our Dickey's closed up at home the month after I bought them(my luck, right?lol)so we used the gift cards to treat the kids.  My son paid whatever was left on the bill after that $50.

*  On the way home on Sunday we stopped at a Food Lion along the way and I picked up some reduced meats.  I found a penny leaving the store.   When I checked my receipt in the car I saw one of the items scanned the reg. price bar code and not the reduced price code so back into the store I went and got $1.23 back to tuck into my grocery refund monies envie at home.
I also found a dime on my second trip out of that store. 8-)

*  We also stopped at a Weis(PMITA)Markets in West Virginia.  I picked up 2 packs of Perdue refrigerated chicken nuggets on sale 40% off plus they each had a $1 instant discount sticker on them, making them $1.40 each.  Also picked up were some discontinued Seltzers for .50¢ too.
WV grocery stores carry wine/beer and this store had a WV local wine on clearance for $4.99 a bottle.  It would have been something my brother would like so I was going to pick it up for him for Xmas but stoopid WV has Sunday laws that they can't sell wine/beer until 1 pm in the afternoon and it was 12:45am when we were there.  I wasn't about to stand around and wait 15 minutes to give WV my money(the tax $ part of the sale)so we left the wine there.
Stoopid laws.......
I also found a penny in that Weis.

*  We stopped at an Ollie's outside Harrisburg to check their clearance too.  I found a bag of candy 50% off...slim pickings in that store on clearance.  But I did find 2 more pennies and left 1 penny which was under the counter(it was stuck and I couldn't "unstick" it lolz).

Total cash found and brought home on Sunday.....14¢

*  Hubs and I went out to lunch one day this past week and used an Applebee's gift card bought last year so no OOP in 2019 for that meal.  Believe me, we spent enough the last 2 weeks on meals. 8-(

*  While on our day out we hit the Bread Outlet since I haven't been in about a month..........

$4 OOP for these 3 bread products.
You can see one of the loaves has already been hit hard. lol

*  I hit Weis(PMITA)Markets at home and did the Mix and Match, Buy 6/Get $3 Back Deal....

2 x MC tv dinners
1 x Celentano ravioli
2 x Birds Eye chicken meal bags
1 x Kleenex 3 pack tissues
Reg. price......$24.14
Subtotal w/sale prices....$20.45
Qs used.......$4.50
Mix and Match Deal.....$3

$20.45-7.50=$12.95 for those 6 items.
I also earned $2 back on Ibotta for the Kleenex(.75¢), the Ravioli($1)and .25¢ for buying any item at Weis so $10.95 OOP in the end so $1.83 per item.  Not a great deal but pretty good.

I also picked up 8 more Ragu pasta sauces for .39¢ after doubled Qs, 12 more cans of Hormel chili for $1.45 per can after doubled Qs and a couple more free Oh! yogurts after doubled Qs.
The chili also earned me this...........

A $5 OYNO Catalina good on anything at Weis.  I have 2 weeks to use it.

*  I also found 2 pennies on that trip to Weis........

* While we were away this arrived in the mail...........

A 10% off coupon.  I guess I spent a bit of $$ at Ollie's on our vacation, enough to earn this. lolz
It's good until the middle of June plus I am awaiting a 15% off coupon Ollie's sends out to Ollie Army members every Spring/Easter.

That's it for me this past week.
What frugal wins did y'all have??

What a Frickin' Disaster.....But In a Good Way!

Ok, I spent a LOT of time in Rite-Aid on Friday.  It's all good though because I  brought home lots of items and spent no money OOP(I did spend Bonus Cash, Catalinas and Plenti Points but not as many as I should have evidently).

I can't even begin to detail how the transactions went down because....it got real messy. lolz

A-an employee put the wrong signage on a shelf so 1 Tide I bought didn't qualify for sale or BC which messed up that transaction and there was a return/rebuy and then I didn't have the Load2CardQ to spend again, yadda, yadda, yadda.
B-I tried to use a 30% off email but the items I bought in that transaction that were on sale for BOGO50% didn't give me the better 30% off on them, evidently because the register/computer saw "50% off" and decided that the BOGO50% off(which is effectively 25% off all item involved)was a better deal than a straight 30% off email sale.  So there was more return/rebuy and price modifying and I believe the cashier returned two items I didn't actually buy(bought 4, he returned 6?)so how do we go about fixing that problem inside of another problem?, yadda, yadda, yadda.

In the end I did two transactions on my Daughter's card/account and FIVE transactions on my Son's card/account(two actual transactions, THREE return/rebuys to fix the problems in the actual transactions).
Ugh.
In the returns/rebuys I did end up with another $9.81 in cash.....wtf???  I seriously don't know what happened here. lolz

Let me just tell you that if you got a 30% off on Friday or Saturday email only attempt to use it once.  If you try to do two transactions and use it both times, the computer system won't take it the second time.
Though the coupon in the email you get is the same number for everyone, it only becomes valid/active with your card is swiped/read and it will only work once with your card.  Ask me how I know this? ;-)

Let me just show you the photos of what I got on Friday and then show you a list of everything I got this week at Rite-Aid total and what it all "cost" me, ok?

Friday's haul.......

Oops, I almost forgot these two.....

And the paper products........

List of items bought at Rite-Aid the Week of January 21st--among 3 accounts/cards

*  2 cases H2O
*  4 12 roll packs Scott tp
*  5  18 roll packs Scott tp
*  4 6-pack Scott paper towels
*  4 6-packs Klenex tissue
*  1 18-pack Cottonelle tp
*  3 Irish Spring body wash
*  3 Soft Soap body wash
*  2 packs U-Kotex tampons
*  8 Hershey candy bars
*  2 Tide detergent
*  1 Gain detergent
*  2 L'Oreal shampoo
*  9 Right Guard extreme deodorant
*  4 Dial liquid hand soap
*  4 Neutrogena facial cleanser
*  6 Muscle Milk protein bars

I started the week with $120 in Bonus Cash and $303.71 in Plenti Points.
I ended the week with $100 in Bonus Cash and $265.06 in Plenti Points and $37.67 in cash monies.

In total I spent down $38.65 in Plenti Points, spent down $20 in Bonus Cash, spent $25 in Catalinas earned this week(5 x $5 Cats earned on 5 paper products transactions).

I now have $20 BC on my card(new), $40 BC on son's card(2 new) and $40 BC(1 old, 1 new)on daughter's card so $100 in BC between the 3 cards/accounts, $265.06 Plenti Points left to spend between the 3 cards/accounts, $37.67 in new cash(which went into the postQ/refund envelope) and $398.37 worth of reg. retail value goods I brought home.

Plus I'll be getting another $5.99 in cash rebates($4.99 for buying 3 of the Right Guards AND $1 for buying 2 of the Dial liquid hand soaps)from SavingStar when they get around to posting it to my account there(making it $43.66 back in cash refunds/rebates total for Rite-Aid this week).

Didn't I tell you it's a glorious mess!  8-)))

What I Bought at Rite-Aid This Week

Well I resisted going to Rite-Aid until Friday and then I gave in.
Since I really didn't NEED anything I tried my best to stay home.

But the siren song of really cheap stuff that I could potentially sell for a profit got the better of me. lolz

This week Huggies diapers were on sale for $7.99 and you received $3 in Plenti points for every 2 packs you bought.
Limit of 2 offers per card so potentially you could earn $6 in points, plus another $10 in points since buying 4 on your card meant you "spent" $31.96, so you qualified for the $10 in Bonus points as you spent over $30 on "Starting Points" items.
Using 4 x $2/1 Huggies IPQ your total before tax came down to $23.96 so after new Points earned of $16.00 you are out $7.96 + tax.
But if you bought 4 packs of Huggies in the same transaction you also earned a $10 Catalina from Huggies which is good on your next order!
This makes this deal before taxes a $2.04 moneymaker.

I went to do this deal on each of our two household cards except things didn't go quite as planned.
I meant to roll the first $10 Catalina I got and use it in my second diaper order on the second card.

First order--
4 x Huggies=$31.96
4 x $2/1 Qs used=$8.00
$31.96-$8=$23.96 use Plenti Points.
Earned $16.00 in new Plenti Points and a $10 Catalina.

Second order--
4 x Huggies=$31.96
4 x $2/1 Qs used=$8.00
1 x $10 Cat used=$10.00
$31.96-$18=$13.96 use Plenti Points.
Earned $16.00 in new Plenti Points and a $10 Catalina.

$37.92 in Plenti Points spent.
$32.00 in new Plenti Points earned and 1 $10 Catalina.

But the cashier finished the 2nd transaction before I handed her the $10 Catalina so I ended up spending $47.92 Plenti Points, getting $32 in new Plenti Points and having 2 x $10 Catalinas when I was done.
Well, I also bought a bottle of Vaseline in the first diaper transaction too....$2.99, used a $2/1 ManuQ and got $1 in Plenti points back so this on it's own was a .01¢ moneymaker.

Since I had 2 $10 Cats when I was done  buying the diapers I bought......
2 x Viva paper towel 6 packs on sale BOGO so $12.79 for both
I used a $1/1 Viva ManuQ making my total $11.79.
I used a $10 Catalina making my total $1.79 + tax.
I earned a $3 Catalina for buying 2 Vivas in a single transaction(even though 1 is free it still counts toward your total items bought).

I had $1.96 tracking on the card from buying the 4 packs of diapers toward a second $10 Bonus Plenti pts. wyb $30, add in the $12.79 and my tracking is at $14.75.

So I rinsed and repeated the Viva transaction and added 3 boxes of protein/cereal bars.
Special K bars and cereals were 3/$8 at Rite-Aid.  There was an in-ad Q for $3 off wyb 3, making them $5, plus I found a $1/2 IPQ Special K bars and activated a $1/2 Special K bars rebate offer on my SavingStar account.
The second Viva transaction was $20.79-$5 in Qs=$15.79-$10 Cat=$5.79 + tax.
I earned another $3 Catalina for buying 2 Viva and another $10 Bonus Plenti points Offer for spending over $30 total this week.
Plus I'll get another $1 in my SavingStar account later this week.

Total spent in Plenti Points w/tax....$57.90
Total earned in new Points...........$43.00
Total Catalinas remaining...............$6.00
Total SavingStar Rebates earned.....$1.00

So after all my rebates/cats/new points I "spent down" my Plenti points by $7.90.
Or 8 packs of diapers, 4 packs of paper towels, 1 bottle of lotion and 3 boxes of protein bars cost me $7.90.

As for what the plans are the all those diapers?
Either I'll hold onto them in the hopes that one of my older kids gets pregnant in the near future(Hey! I can hope, right?)or I can be sensible and either give them to the food bank or sell them via the town's online marketplace.  I sold a bunch of packs of diapers a few years ago that I had gotten for free at Rite-Aid so I figure I can make about $32-$40 that way off of the diapers, which would make all this a nice big fat moneymaker.  8-)))

I may go back later today and get 3 more bottles of Vaseline lotion as I have 3 more ManuQs and each one is a .01¢ moneymaker so why not?
I can add them to the food bank donation I am gathering this month.
