Whadda Ya Want From Me?

Forgive me for a bit while I whine and wallow in some "poor poor pitiful me-ness".

I am a 51 year old woman who still doesn't know what she wants to be when she grows up.
In fact, at this point in my life, it seems doubtful that I will grow up! ;-)

I am having a difficult time blogging lately.
Or rather, I'm having a difficult time figuring out what direction to take this blog into.

Lots....ok, then, most blogs have a theme or a direction.
Me?
Not so much.
I started out just blogging to clear my head so I could cram different minutia into it without seepage occurring.
Seepage is never a good thing.

Then I got my first followers/readers.
Being an ex-theater person(see egotistical exhibitionist), I was hooked!
I <3 followers..... ;-)

So then I felt compelled to continue blogging because, well....you need to satisfy your audience.
Maybe some one out there is having a shittier day than me and comes here to read something to give them the will to go on....ok, maybe not that, but at least feel better about their life compared to the junk that goes on here in mine.

So I tried to pigeon-hole my blog, so I could link it and promote it.  It's hard to know how/where to share your blog if you don't know WHAT KIND of BLOG you have!

I am a mom.....but my kids are alien-life forms or almost adults and all the blogs I could find who were mommy bloggers had small children and dealt with issues that I no longer have an interest in like potty training, food allergies, chore building, teaching, social interaction, pta helping(or avoidance), etc.
We have left that stage of life behind thankyouverymuch!
So I talk about what passes for my real life now.  It's fairly tame and as the blog title should clue you in....boring!  Maybe I need to go out and do some wild and wacky things, like naked bodysurfing, doing a year long pie-eating tour of all 50 states, parkouring across Manhattan or auditioning for the next installment of Project Runway?  Now that would certainly liven it up around here, huh?!

I am a spiritual person....but because of past experiences in my life I am not a proponent of organized religion.  A lot of the mommy bloggers I found are Christians(not that there's anything wrong with that!)and they sprinkle their blogs liberally with bible quotations and the messages that they have received via their direct hotline to g*d.
While I am an ethical and moral person(no, religions don't have the market cornered on morality), I don't wear my religion like a mantel.  I think you can be a good person without being a card carrying member of *fill in your religious affilication here* and I don't want to club anyone over the head with who I think is going to a good place or a bad place when they die.

I am a couponista, and most of whatever that entails....and I did try my hand at coupon-match ups and being a "deal" blogger.  But that didn't work out so well.  Most deal blogs are so boring, even more boring than me!
Don't get me wrong.....I appreciate what they do....I just don't want to do it.lol  It's long dry work, shifting through the sales flyers each week to find the good deals and then one by one, matching up the current coupons to post with the deals.  THAT, my friends, too closely resembles W-O-R-K!  Since I am not paid to sit here hour after hour and do this basic mechanical work, and I refuse to just copy somebody else's work and post it as my own(tsk, tsk), I would just as soon lick the inside of my eyelids....whatever THAT means!
I do post a lot of my shopping trips.   Again, this devolves down into snoozefest territory, especially if the reader does NOT shop at the store you are writing about.  I realize that my grocery trips are only relevant to local readers since we have no national chains here but I will continue to talk about local deals since there is no one(or almost no one)blogging about local deals.  If something I post helps someone feed their family better/for less, then it's worth doing. ;-)  I know the Rite-Aid stuff bores the unlucky peoples who can't shop there, but.....My name is Sluggy, and I am an addict.......so feel free to just move along if you see a Rite-Aid shopping post.  I won't be dropping those.

I am a giveaway hound....I love to enter giveaways unless there are like 3 thousand entries at which point I laugh hysterically at the bad odds of winning and move on.  So I tried holding giveaways, and still do.  They say it's a great way to build a following/readership, even though after you have a drawing you do lose a percentage of folks when they don't win.  But participation in my giveaways is markedly down....except for a few regulars, most of whom would enter every day if I let them...you know who you are! lol
But I am now on the fence about the whole Giveaway issue and whether it's 'prosituting your blog' when companies, who don't pay you a fee but just give you stuff to give away, use you to promote their brand.  And besides, strictly Giveaway blogs have nothing to offer you outside of 'stuff'....which leads me to my next thought....

I am a frugalista who is mostly anti-consumerism.....but talking about reusing baggies and compost and ranting about the overconsumption in this country only can be a yawnfest if one is not careful.  While not an ardent Tree Hugger, if I didn't have a spouse I would probably be more "out there" with modifying the house & "alternative" building projects around here to make us more green and cheap until our place resembled a hippie commune with an air of ramshacked-ness.  But I have a grumpy old man here who keeps my ideas from fruition and keeps our property values up. ;-)
I find I can be only so frugal since I love a good deal too!  These two sides of me....being frugal and deal-hunting seem to be at odds with each other.  It makes for a schizophrenic blog at times....."Don't fall for mindless marketing by going to the mall", is followed by "Hurry! Great deal on Widgets at Amazon today only!!".

I am into personal finance issues......but again, talking retirement calculators, bank rate deals, T-bonds and FICO scores, etc. only, will make all the non-geek's eyes glaze over and their brains turn off in a nanosecond.  So I tried to interject my personal experiences/examples as a way to liven the subject matter up and maybe inspire someone.
And again, I found that if you have mostly made all the right decisions with your finances(and been lucky) and aren't currently in a debt hole trying to shovel your way out, most people don't want to hear about your experiences.
You would think that people who want help/ideas about moving away from debt/bad choices would listen more to someone who has done it.  But it seems to me at least that people want to hear about those who haven't made the right choices(perhaps so they can feel superior to them?)and if you have done well with money and talk about it, you are viewed as just bragging....even if that is the last thing that crossed your mind when you blogged about it.  I guess I need to go broke a la Dave Ramsey first and then make a bazillion dollars and build a 4 million dollar house before anyone wants me to open my trap about money again. ;-)

So, after having whined about all of the above, you tell Adam Lambert and me.......Whadda Ya Want From Me?

*What do you like about this humble little blog?  Please, say you like something, ok?lol  Is there some particular subject matter or direction you like and why?

*What do you NOT like about the blog?  Be brutal...in a nice way. ;-)  Go ahead and let me have it, I can take it.

*Why do you come here and read the blog? Try to come up with something more than I like your blog, ok?....even though saying you like my blog will earn you brownie points with me. 8-))

*How often do you drop in and read me....every day, week, month or did you just stumble in here and are frantically searching for the Exit?

* Is there something you would like to see here and what?  Do I talk about something you would like to read more about?  Do you have any suggestions about anything at all?.....from the physical layout(where stuff is visually, the ads-the placement or lack thereof, the colors, the photos/graphics, lack of professional web design, etc.)to subject matter covered(or not covered).

Here is your chance to sound off.  Any and all feedback is appreciated.

I've got my ear pressed to the web......go ahead and bend it!

Sluggy

  1. Ok Sluggy, here it goes!

First of all , we hang our head in shame for being someone who enters a contest everyday, tsk, tsk. Its just everyday boredom and seeing what's up on the other side. Ot lack of having anything worthwhile to do when I'm not working. Now mind you I could be cleaning, cooking and doing projects but what fun is that? Forgive all us all who are becoming empty nesters.

While I'm on the subject I too totally agree. My baby is 16 yrs old and getting diaper deals is beyond me. Now maybe a Poise pad for me is not, hee, hee! I'll be rolling into a new decade next month, oh Lord help me and kid stuff just doesn't interest me.

I too can't compete with the super deal queens, but I do know a deal when I see one and love to pass it on. Have you noticed all the face creams and wrinkle cream samples lately?

Now to what you were really asking. I stop in several times a day, if not to see you and get a laugh or too, but I also check out your blogroll. I love the updates. Also I'm all aware of the Walgreen's RR, but the Rite-Aid Up program confuses me and I have no idea really what it is and how to use it. I like the deals, but sometimes are a little long (forgive me) remeber I stop several times a day, probably becaus I can't remember!

Now, how's that for an answer?

  2. Well, I for one love your blog. I love getting money tips and such. You give me new ways to think about things and I appreciate that. I tend to get stuck in ruts and one way of thinking--it's nice to have another view that doesn't try to beat you over the head with "their way is the only way". Does that even make sense? I read you every time I see an update on my blog--which is really a nothing blog. I don't even really know why I started to blog--I don't have anything important or helpful to say. Your blog and a few others like it have taught me new ways(to me at least) to be more frugal and less wasteful. My kids are grown too--and still live at home so I don't have a lot in common with most blogs. There are many days when I wonder why I blog too--like I said before, I don't really have anything important to say. I also love that you are 51 and have no idea what you want to be when you grow up--I'm 47 and I feel the same way.
Now, I probably didn't answer any of your questions but I love reading your blog--I like it just the way it is but if you change it, I'll still read it.
Oh yeah, you won the giveaway on my blog--congratulations!!! Take care.

  3. marilyn-First off, no need to apologize. I Heart your comments!
And please know that the ribbing for entering 'every day' thing is all in good fun on my part.
I'll be an empty nester in less than 4 yrs. myself so any words of advice you can impart on that whole deal are great. ;-)
I guess all the wrinkle cream deals have always been out there but they are just registering on our radar now since you/I are moving into the age of saggy-ness.lol

Rite-Aid +Ups are just like Wags RRs...only better because you can use as many as you want to pay and don't have to worry about the item to RR ratio in a transaction. So think RR but more better!
I am taking all your comments to heart...thank you!

  4. I like your blog because it's real. You speak from the heart and it shows. I read very few blogs because my life is a vortex of craziness, so the ones I do read have to speak to me. There's not a thing that I don't like about your blog. I would keep it as it is. I read your blog when time allows, probably every other day or when it pops up in my google reader. Keep up the great work!!

    ReplyDelete
  5. Sheila--Thanks for your insight.
And don't go running your blog down! I think everybody's blog has something valuable in it and wisdom to impart, even if the blogger doesn't see it themselves. ;-)
You're a homebody much like myself but your world is different from mine and I can learn things from you too. I like when you share your needlecraft projects and your recipes, as well as pictures of the critters. You've lived a lot of places and I bet you have interesting stories yet to tell about what you've seen.

And yah, I think growing up is highly overrated!lolol

  6. First, my opinion on blogging in general. I used to have a general interest blog in which I wrote about my life, sometimes in a humorous way, sometimes in a more somber way. I had a decent following and was in something of a clique of other general interest bloggers. However, that kind of blogging is hard for me and there were times when my posts were complete duds. So I spun off a cooking blog from the first blog and it seemed to be received well. For political reasons, I shut down the first blog (seriously, some of my readers were getting a little too in my face over our political disparities). I still wanted to write, and I've always wanted to do some kind of homemaker outreach, so I revamped the cooking blog into what you all know (and hopefully love) now. Niche blogging is MUCH easier than general interest blogging, IMO.

Now, on to your specific questions:

*What do you like about this humble little blog? You are a smartass and I love your sarcasm. I also love that you are intelligent, level-headed and a straight-shooter. That said, very early in our blogship, you made a comment on my blog that pissed me off royally, but I finally decided you misunderstood the subject (because I probably didn't explain it well enough) and I pressed forward with comments and I feel we're good bloggy friends now. I'm glad for that.

Is there some particular subject matter or direction you like and why? Anything food related is always a favorite with me, whether it's a recipe, a restaurant review, a garden post or whatever.

*What do you NOT like about the blog? Since we don't have Rite-Aid here, I do as you suggest and just skip over those posts. Since I am not a player of any drug store games, I skip over all of the CVS, Walgreens posts, etc. That is not just on your blog, but on all who do those kinds of posts. I enjoy the monthly reviews of your finances, but I admit that I don't really look at your specific numbers. Why? Because they don't mean much to anyone but you. I realize that I do the same thing and readers probably skip over my numbers as well. Still, I like to read about the progress you're making.

*Why do you come here and read the blog? See my answer to your first question.

*How often do you drop in and read me....every day, week, month or did you just stumble in here and are frantically searching for the Exit? I read your blog via Google reader, so I read every update you make. I don't always click through to your blog, however, unless I'm going to make a comment.

    * Is there something you would like to see here and what? Your idea of parkouring across Manhattan seems like a good place to start.

Do I talk about something you would like to read more about? Well, I think if you have hippie tendencies, you should let your freak flag fly. I have the same tendencies, so maybe you and I could have a mini bloggy Woodstock or something.

Do you have any suggestions about anything at all?.....from the physical layout(where stuff is visually, the ads-the placement or lack thereof, the colors, the photos/graphics, lack of professional web design, etc.)to subject matter covered(or not covered). No suggestions. For one thing, I read via a reader most of the time and don't see those things. For another, it's YOUR blog...do what makes you happy!

  7. No offense, I like to enter everyday, I like to enter everyday! See nothing to do!

    ReplyDelete
  8. And another thing...

I get where you're coming from on the giveaway issue. I do host giveaways, but I have refused to host some before, also. I won't giveaway anything that I wouldn't like to try myself or a product that I know I don't like. I don't sign up to win giveaways if I don't think I'll use the product/item or already know I don't like it.

I think a blogger can host giveaways even if their blog promotes non-consumerism. As long as a person is SELECTIVE about what they give or take via these giveaways, then there's no conflict of interest.

  9. Sluggy, Please girl! How can you not know what category your blog is? you are the frugal queen!

As I read your blog and I have been with you since the beginning, I am always in awe of you and your skills. Every single goal I have set for myself on my poor little blog end up falling by the wayside. I am kind of like that dog Kevin in the movie Up, in that I can follow a conversation for a while and then bam! Squirrel!!! You've lost me. : )

You are doing a great job here. Personally I get lost and can't follow the high finance stuff you do with the coupons and rewards and shit, but that's me. Not you.

My favorite ones are your family stories and your weekly menu. Plus I like that there is a variety and I never know what you have in store for us. : )

    Keep up the good work.

  10. I love your blog because you show that making money shopping CAN be done! I love your Rite aids updates even tho I don't have one. If I had more time, I could probably do something like that at our Walgreens... but their photo person ticks me off so I rarely go in there.
I love your variety of subjects and your frugal ways. As someone who doesn't have much time to put as much time into being frugal as I should, you are an inspiration! But for the moment I'll just live vicariously through you.

  11. I like you blog and I link to it on mine. You are dependable, witty and I agree with where you're coming from!

For me, blogging is part of the whole discipline process. If I blog about being responsible, I tend to stick to being responsible.

As a young married person starting out, I really had no clue how to become an accomplished "housewife." Of course, I work, so that's making me sound out-dated. But I did get good at cooking, saving money, etc. I wish I'd had someone show me how.

That's part of why I blog. It's part of why you should too! We have learned a lot over the years and need to feel as if we are old and wise.... and the blogging community lets us do that without really knowing if we're making people yawn or not!

  12. I have to say that I like the blog the way it is. It speaks to me. In many ways we are on the same page in the parenthood book. I'm not wiping butts and I really have no interest to relive that. I like what you have to say and it pertains to me. I have gotten to the point that you are at blogging before and I realized that I just wanted to write whatever pertains to me that day or week. Life can't be scripted and I often find that the odd things that I post about get the most responses. I say just write what you want to.
    XOXO

  13. Honestly, I check in on your blog every few days. The reason...I never know what I'm going to get. And I like that. We don't have a Rite-Aid where I live, but I still love to watch how close you can get to no out of pocket. And I can appreciate that. Sometimes, you rant about your kids. I'm grateful to hear that sometimes they are a pain in the @ss. I know everyone's children are wonderful and perfect, but they all have bad days. I feel like your stories are a real slice of life. And every once in a while, you sell at the flea market and I giggle at the number of boxes you can cram into your vehicle and the tiny number you come home with. I, and I can only speak for myself, enjoy your lack of direction. I find it interesting.
    Keep it up!
    Kristi

  14. I like your blog! I don't always comment, but I stop on over to see what you are up to! I also love doing giveaways, I really do. I know what you mean about the Mama blogs and the Coupon Queen blogs. My kids are teens...I am so not into cloth diapers vs disposable, nursing vs formula, time outs vs. spanking. I have AlreadyBeenThere, DoneThat, Don't WannaGoBackThereAgain!! LOL

I also try not to "reinvent the wheel," so to speak....If I find an awesome post, I will repost it on my blog and give all kinds of linky love credit to that person!

I think that your blog should focus on what you have learned raising your kids and what you wish you could redo if you had the chance. Did they go to college? Do you have any advice for Moms like me, whose son will be a college freshman in the fall of 2012? What about retirement issues? Believe me, those are things that I am interested in. And, I really do love money stuff...current interest rates, what the market is doing, etc! :)

  15. As an almost empty nester myself I appreciate your blog and check everyday for a good laugh. I like to save money too but am no supercouponer. I agree with alot of your sentiments. I don't need the daily bible quotes or the special Huggies reward codes. Keep up the good work and the rambling I love it.
P.S. I don't get all the +up rewards and wellness discounts either. I am a diehard CVSer but Rite-Aid and Walgreens are a little beyond me.

  16. I'm just going to tell you what I like and why I read your blog. You are a good writer. Your post about your neighbors camper, your post this week about your daughter applying to colleges, you put great humor in your posts.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hi Sluggy,
I read your blog everyday. I most enjoy your ramblings ;-) and life stuff. I wish I understood all of your Rite-Aid and purchase stuff but I get confused with your calculations and don't understand all of the abbreviations. Wish I could get into that part more. It is inspirational to see your money management strategies and your savings. I live on a far different budget than you but it does give me food for thought. Do what is the most fun for you...we will be here. Much appreciation, Kathy

  18. Qpn Goddess--Gee, thanks for the vote of confidence! I too feel my real life is a "vortex of craziness"...I guess mine just spins really slowly compared to yours. ;-)
Your kids are a bit younger so I'll say that things will get better as they age....or maybe not...ok, it'll get worse.lol

  19. Annie J--I am SO glad that my pissy comment didn't turn you off of being my friend. I think we are very similar in many ways, you and I.
How about you come visit me and I'll take you to Woodstock? I use to hit the toy outlet in the decrepit shopping center near Bethel in Monticello every 2 weeks when I sold stuff on eBay. We can take our tie-dyed souls and commune with nature.
I do have blogging envy over your rainwater storage system btw....

Thanks for the feedback and I think I'll leave the parkouring to #2 son, especially when I wake up feeling all my 51 yrs.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Annie J--I am glad to hear I am not the only one who wrangles with the 'blog pimping' issue.
I have turned down some offers, but I fear turning them down too much will result in the prize stream drying up for me.
I worry OTOH that if I over-giveaway I'll attract the type of reader who is only here for the bling.
It's a fine line, ya know?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Lisa Pie--Thanks for your support. Most days I feel I am NOT frugal enough. It's like 2 little beings sitting on my shoulders, one is telling me to iron that piece of used foil so I can reuse it for the 3rd time and the other is telling me to go buy a new set of dishes for Christmas because well, I deserve pretty stuff and I only have 3 sets.lol

I didn't think ANYONE read the Menu plans(except a rare person who clicked thru OrgJunkie when I posted them there)so I stopped posting them! Maybe I'll reconsider starting back up with that....tho I much prefer AnnieJ's take on posting a menu AFTER the fact.

  22. McVal--I can't imagine not having a Rite-Aid....what pain you must feel. ;-)
Is there a way to do Wags without having to deal with the photo person? There is a nazi cashier at one of the Rite-Aids here and there is no way to check out without dealing with her so I just avoid that particular store, but I have lots of other RAs to pick from fortunately.
Thanks for your feedback and for the love...

    ReplyDelete
  23. Alex M--Thanks muchly for the "linky love"! I appreciate that.
Most days I just feel old without the wise part, but you are right about needing to serve as an example to the younger homemakers/wives coming up...or at the very least to serve as a cautionary reminder of what can happen if you don't do it right.lol

I just find it difficult to find that particular audience, the younger up and coming homemakers. Most of the young whippersnappers don't seem to want to hang out in blogland reading old farts like me.
I am old and wise and jaded. I don't exude sunshine and rainbows most days and they all want to read optimist posts about how life will always be fun & a piece of cake.
    Or am I wrong here?

    ReplyDelete
  24. SonyaAnn--XOX right back at ya! Maybe we need to start a consortium of mature mommy bloggers(yah, I roll with the MMB posse)?
We can hold conferences and court PR for brands we can relate to....geritol, depends, hair coloring that covers the grey, AARP, Premarin, Hormone replacement, vacation timeshares, divorce lawyers, investment managers, age appropriate fashion lines, jazzy power chairs, baby stuff(for the grandkids), etc.

At least we can start a link-up for all us older mom blogs....let's talk!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Kristi--You are the first person who has ever praised my "lack of direction"...I love that!lol
If anything I am a loose cannon and unpredictable. I'm glad someone gets me and likes that.
I hesitate to share most of my real life tho, since my family may read it and as you know, what I write is not always complimentary to them. If only I didn't have spies the stores I could tell...lol
Thank you for your comments and support!

    ReplyDelete
  26. AMarie--Thank you for checking me out every so often. I'm like you...I read but comment infrequently.
Glad to see someone is into the retirement and older kids stuff too. I'll look into talking more about the whole college process and teen stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Anonymous--If I have made you laugh my job is done....lol Thanks for reading me and taking the time to leave a comment.

Few people can sustain the super-couponing stuff, especially if you have a full life otherwise. I've tried various levels of couponing(from an extreme zealot to a very casual user)and I've settled into what I find works for me. Perhaps I should do some Couponing 101 posts...you know, explaining the slang and the basics of the various drug store systems &/or the catalinas? Would that be something that would interest anyone? I half tried once but I don't know if anyone even read it....

    ReplyDelete
  28. Jennifer--Thanks for dropping in and sharing your thoughts with me...it is appreciated!
I blush at the suggestion that I am a good writer...but heck, I'll take it.lol

I do try to post readable stuff with some wit worked in instead of posting the stream of consciousness that it starts out as. I am not a schooled writer but if I can get the point across...even with my love for the (.....), I guess my style works.
I'll definitely keep up the "what happened in my life" posts.
    Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  29. KathyM--Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me!
If I haven't said it enough already, I do appreciate when anyone makes a comment on the blog, even if I am very bad about responding to said comments on a consistent basis. Know that I do read each and every one... ;-)

I think I will do a couponing 101 series or post after seeing more than one comment about the couponing stuff.

And I wish I was at liberty to use my own life as an example for how to handle the money stuff more openly. If it was just me, I'd have no problem sharing all the numbers of our finances(until it pissed the people who make less than us off LOL). I grew up in a family where money was NOT talked about and I think most people my age or older had a similar experience. And I saw what that kind of secrecy brought about, so I have been very open with my kids and try to be on the blog....except that I have a Hubs who is old school and thinks talking about his/our money is inappropriate. So I have to respect that and not reveal much in the way of income.

I think an open discussion about money and frugality can be helpful no matter where you are on the financial scale and lessons can be applied to any income level.
    Thanks for the support!

  30. I'm sorry I missed this yesterday! I have your blog in my blog-roll and try to catch up each day on the past 24 hours. If I haven't seen a post from you in a day or so, I go looking (and that means you're special!). I think the first post of yours I remember reading was your review of the Purex 3-in-1 sheets, which I hadn't even heard of at the time. I loved it - you did a great review and managed to sneak in a little smart-ass-sm so it really *wasn't* boring at all. I was hooked :)

I agree that it would be fantastic to have a blog community for us not-grown-up (soon-to-be) empty-nesters, because much as I think free diapers are cool (and wish I could've scored them 22 years ago), I don't really have a use for them now.

Your posts make me laugh, except on those occasions where you've done a spectacular Rite-Aid shop and the details make my head hurt a little, but I love those posts, too - you are seriously lightyears beyond me in deals at Rite Aid and it's so cool to read about!

Plus, even though I know you and I are looking at either the same or similar Weis flyers each week, you see all those great specials that I never do. So yes, please keep posting local deals!

And I don't think you need to change a thing about your topics or layout or any of that. If you like it, it's just right the way it is :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Pretty--I am honored to be 'special'....that's special in a good way, right?lol

We SO need a "sadder but wiser girl" group! Quick, what musical am I referencing?lol

We should get together and do a Rite-Aid video post. ;-)

  32. Please do not change anything in your blog ........ at all. If you can add more posts that would be great.
I love your RA deals and try to see if I can do them too, but sometimes we don't have the same sales or mine are already done for that week, but I like seeing your pennies OOP, which I try to replicate but do not make it all the time.
I also love your posts about the teenagers - especially the band kid and hair, since mine is also at the same stage with the band and the hair and I can commiserate.

    Thanks

  33. Here is my entry for today.

Oh, wait, wrong post!! LOL! Sluggy, I just LOVE you. I read your blog almost everyday, even the Rite Aid ones and I don't have a RA. I just like to be jealous of the good junk you get. I am behind this week because of our weekend festivities, but I try to never miss you.

As a happy empty nester, I am glad you don't post diaper deals and potty training instructions. Don't need them...don't want them. I just love that you are a loose cannon and unpredictable. It makes you totally fun!

  35. Chitra--Thanks for the feedback!
I know I get around to doing the Rite-Aid deals late in the week often...that's just me and my slow pace.lol Once you know the RA system it's fun to figure out your own deals I think and not rely on the deal bloggers scenarios....take their scenario and tweet it to fit what you need/want to buy. I finally started doing that after the 1st 6 months of hounding, when I started last year.
Most of the comments on this post seem to indicate that most of the readers here are in the empty nester or teenage alien lifeform stage of raising kids so I'll soldier on with my RL stories.
    And thanks for reading. ;-)

  36. Frances--Too bad your post today won't get you a giveaway entry, right?lol

You make me smile when I see you think I am fun.
Oh, if you only knew me in real life....I am about as fun as watching paint dry....a nice color of paint, but still, it's paint. ;-)
Thanks for cheering me up and stopping by.
