And Just to Add to the Holiday Joys....

I bought something on eBay.
I don't expect it to arrive before Christmas since I bought it on Sunday and it's shipping from St. Paul.
But........
I go onto My eBay today and it says the item was shipped and it was delivered on Monday!?!
WTF??
The tracking number the nimrod supplied to eBay for it says it was shipped to Minneapolis.
I don't live in Minneapolis(far from there!)and have no earthly reason to ship anything to Minneapolis when I live in Pennsylvania.
WTF?!?!?

So I have written to the seller asking "WTF?!" basically.
Either they put the wrong tracking number in or I am dealing with a flake.
Sigh.

I hope this doesn't turn into a big ball of crap and I have to worry about getting my money back.

Trying not to panic.....yet! lolz

Is It Me?

I have been receiving Christmas(and in one instance a New Year's Card)here at Chez Sluggy in drips and drabs every couple of days.
Today things ramped up and I got FOUR CARDS in the daily mail....woohoo!

But upon looking at the envelopes it makes me wonder whether I need to rethink who my friends are!

Ok, I am joking here, but seriously three of the four envelopes were odd or just down right wrong.

I have blacked out some identifying info on the envelopes but not my first "real name" as most readers probably know that it's Denise by now.

#1----This envelope contains a card from someone I have known for over 16 years.

Addressed to Denise Brown.
Ummmm, that is not my last name.

#2----This envelope is from someone we've known since college.   While the sender gets MY name correct they got Hubs name wrong.

Hubs first name is not David.  Neither is his middle name.

#3---And this one, while not incorrect, I thought was funny.  This sender is either someone too tired to write anymore or just doesn't think they need to write the names out since we should know by now what our names are.........

D & D.
My first thought was Dungeons & Dragons?
Or is it Drunk & Disorderly?? lolz
Knowing the sender, yah, it's the second one......... ;-)

And if by any chance the three folks who send us these Christmas cards are reading(1 KNOW at least  one reads this blog), I AM JOKING, ok?!!

I love you all and love getting cards from y'all!

It's just this blog thing.
I have to use any germ of an idea to think of something to write about sometimes, no matter how lame.
THIS was the best I could come up with today(since I haven't pillage Rite-Aid since Sunday).  8-)))

Rite-Aid This Week

There is one freebie this week at Rite-Aid........

On son's card I bought 4 Finesse shampoos/conditioners on sale for $2 each when you buy in groups of 2.
Each 2 bought earns you $4 back in Plenti points so free except for tax.
$8.48 spent down in points, $8 earned back in points.

Then I bought 4 Finesse products again on my card, plus a couple of other things........

4 x Finesse=$8.00
1 x JR Watkins gift set=$14.29
1 x JR Watkins hand cream BOGO50%=$4.49
SubTotal.....$26.78

I used--
1 x $5/$25 Beauty Purchase RA Q=$5.00
1 x $6/1 JR Watkins Gift Set RA FacebookQ=$6.00
1 x $4/1 JR Watkins product RA FacebookQ=$4.00
Coupon Total......$15.00

$26.78-$15.00=$11.78 + .30¢tax=$12.08 using my Plenti points.
I don't know why the tax on the first 4 bottles of Finesse was .48¢ and this transaction I was only charge .30¢??

I received $10 back in new Plenti Points(2 x $4 Finesse, $2 wyspend $15 on JRWatkins) so I spend down $2.08 in Plenti points on this transaction.  Not free but very cheap, .35¢ for each of these 6 items.
$57.60 worth of goods for nothing OOP.

Other than for prescription refills I am done with Rite-Aid until the 27th when the free detergent and shampoo starts.

What good deals have you found at the drugstores lately?

This Week on the Dining Table

It's the "Almost Christmas" Edition--

This is a photo of my Christmas fudge prep, after draining the walnuts from the whiskey they had been soaking in for two days.
The leftover whiskey will not go to waste, as I'll add it to the non-nut variety of fudge I plan to make too. (The non-nut fudge isn't being eaten by anyone allergic to nuts so it's aok.)

Onward to the meal planning!

Here's what was planned last week.......

1. Sunday--Pecan Chicken, Corn Casserole, Broc/Cauliflower Mix
2. Monday--Rigatoni w/Meat Sauce, Salad or ?Veggie
3. Tuesday--Broccoli Soup, Grilled Cheese
4. Wednesday--Tacos or Taco Salad
5. Thursday--Chicken Parm, Spaghetti, Sugar Snap Peas
6. Friday--Kielbasa on Rolls, Beans, Veg TBD
7. Saturday--Leftovers

And this is what actually happened--

1. Sunday--Pecan Chicken, Corn Casserole, Broc/Cauliflower Mix
2. Monday--Leftover Quiche
3. Tuesday--Broccoli Soup, Toasted Bagel
4. Wednesday--Stuffed Shells w/Meat Sauce, Salad, Garlic Bread
5. Thursday--Fish Fry, Cole Slaw, Steak Fries(for Hubs and CB)
6. Friday--Cole Slaw and Chili Hot Dogs on Rolls
7. Saturday-Roast Chicken, Leftover Corn Casserole grilled in pan, Brussels Sprouts

No Chicken Parm, Tacos or Kielbasa.
I found a .59¢ lb. whole chicken at the store so that got made inside of Parm.  And a 50% bag of Cole slaw mix I bought had me dig out frozen fish to serve instead of making tacos, then we all had a hankering for good hot dogs(and could use more of the Cole slaw with it)so it was dogs instead of kielbasa.

As for my grocery spending last week...... 3 trips to the grocery stores for a total of $42.92 spent OOP. Month to date is $278.95 spent for December on $610.60 worth of regular retail foods/toiletries(not counting Rite-Aid). I acheived a 59.86% savings rate on items bought this past week.  I have $71.05 leftover in the food budget for the rest of the month(plus $10.75 in Catalinas to spend by Dec. 26th).   Since I only have to shop for groceries this week and then I am done for the month/year I think I can stay on budget....maybe, if no instant discount meats appear while I am in the stores this week. ;-)

Leftovers going into this week.....Meat Sauce, Fish, Cole slaw, Stuffed Shells, Roast Chicken meat,

Here is this week's "food plan"--

1. Sunday--Rigatoni w/(leftover)Meat Sauce, Salad
2. Monday--Bourbon Glazed Salmon, (leftover)Cole Slaw, Olive Oil Potatoes
3. Tuesday--Chicken and Dumplings or Pot Pie(using leftover roast chicken meat)
4. Wednesday-Leftovers(this will mean fish, stuffed shells and/or rigatoni w/sauce + a veggie)
5. Thursday--Traditional Chinese Dinner out Xmas Eve
6. Friday--Beef Roast, Mac and Cheese, Ginger Carrots, Rolls, a green Veggie TBD
7. Saturday--Leftovers or a Subway sammich or Fend for Yourself

This week will see 3 new meals cooked and 2-3 meals of leftovers consumed(albeit 1 meal using leftover foods but in a new dish) plus 1 night Eating Out.

What I need to buy for this menu?.........a roast, milk and carrots.
Plus I'll do the Swanson Deal at Weis and maybe a few other things.  I should be able to stay under my $71.05 left in the food budget for December.  This week's shop will be my last of 2015.

What is getting fixed and served at your house this week?
Are you making something special for Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?

Was last week's plan successful, did you go off plan or did you not even plan what was going to be eaten last week?

Any great deals on food at your stores this week?

It's a Wrap!

So how is it at your house?
Do the men do their own Christmas present wrapping?
Or do they wuss out and use a gift bag?...or worse make their female partners/wives wrap their gifts for them?

Why is it that most women are much better gift wrappers?
I think I am decent at it unless I am hurrying.
Hubs has gotten better over the years at this task.  I gave him a few pointers on wrapping gifts years ago and it's helped.

But goodness, don't ask him to change up what he does.  He can not innovate or vary from his wrapping playbook.
But I'll keep him all the same. 8-)

While we're on the subject, I thought this was pretty funny.......
