Frugal Friday.....the July 8th Edition on Saturday

So here are the few frugal things that happened here at Chez Sluggy this past week.......

*  I only made 1 food shopping trip and it was to Weis.  I did get $9.25 in Ibotta rebates even though I just bought things we needed.

*  Used a free gift card to buy subs at Subway on my shot day as Hubs didn't deal with dinner that night.  He's been doing a lot of painting around here instead.

*  Spent a good deal of time this week cleaning and clearing out clutter instead of mindless spending and shopping.

*   I found money this past week!

I found this penny walking out of Weis(PMITA)Markets last Friday.  That's the only place I went(other than R-A)all week.

Total Found in last Week.... .01¢
Total Found This Year.....$13.42

That's about all I've got for this past week.

Any frugal wins in your neck of the woods?  Let's hear all about them!

And have a good weekend!

Frugal Friday......the May 17th & 24th Edition

I didn't get the time to post last Friday about our frugal wins that week so today's edition is chalk full of two weeks worth of frugaliciousness!
Aren't you excited?!? ;-)

Here goes........

* While at Weis May 10th I got that Friday's freebie........

* While out to Weis(PMITA)Markets last Friday to buy the graduation cake, I got the Freebie.........

Only the coupon didn't come off making it free.  I had my brother and an ice cream cake sitting in a hot car so didn't go back in and stand in line to get my money back so Hubs is taking the receipt/item/printout from their FB page that shows it was free today to get my cash back. ugh.

* Grocery Deals the past 2 weeks?  I can't think of anything I bought that was a great buy other than these..........

The after shot of 3 lobsters gotten on sale at Price Chopper. 8-)))

*  While out running a few errands after Daughter's award ceremony I found money!

A penny in the line at Dollar Tree.  The woman in front of us dropped more change but she picked that up. 8-(

* At the graduation in the lobby of the hall they had a table set up selling items......flowers, water bottles, stuffed animals, balloons, and a large assortment of University clothing.  There was also a Starbucks in the courtyard of the building that was open so you could fulfill your addiction there.  We all resisted opening our wallets and buying any of this stuff.

* The only meal we ate out while all the family was here that week was dinner after the diploma ceremony.  Would have been so easy to just eat out but I didn't want all those extra bills.  My brother offered to pay for Chinese out on Sunday but I said no and grilled us steak and corn instead.

* I sold diapers too..........

7 packs of diapers sold on Mother's Day for $35 in my wallet!

*  And this week I made this much on Thursday..........

6 packs sold for another $30!

*  I got a refund at Rite-Aid for something I returned...........

$3 in cash to go into my R-A refund/post coupon envelope.

* I found more money!
This week when we went to Price Chopper to pick up the cheap live lobsters I picked this up.........

Another penny by a register. Not much but it spends just as well as a $100 bill. ;-)

* Speaking of money, the Ibotta rebate and bonus for one of our motel reservations for our March trip to SC/NC came through.  I made that reservation in February and it was pending since the trip so took 3 months to hit my account. I got a total of $30.51 between the rebate, bonus and 2 other bonuses for multiple items bought in Feb.  I am still waiting on $21.93 in rebates for the other two motel bookings from that trip.

* When Daughter went through her stuff and decided on what to take and what to trash she left these..........

Large rawhide bones and knuckles that she brought here 3 years ago for Cinnamon but her dog never chewed on them.  They were all excavated from the bottom of a large toy basket she had for her dog here.  She gifted them to Chester since he will gnaw on them.

Chester promptly claimed one of the knuckles, drug it into his bed and started gnawing away.
I think what's in that photo above will be a lifetime supply for our Chihuahua as his tiny teeth don't make much headway. lolz

* Other than running errands(grocery store, Rite-Aid, diaper meet ups)I have stayed home this week and worked on taking back and emptying my house.

Free entertainment and exercise! hehehe

That's it for the last two weeks here.

What frugal wins did y'all have over the last 2 weeks?

Frugal Friday......the September 1st Edition

Welcome to September everyone!
A new month and the end of Summer(though technically there are 21 more days until the Autumnal Equinox).
I feel like August dragged on forever, don't you?  We've only been home from our road trip since August 15th but it seems like August was 60 days long to me. lolz
Enough of this chit chat, let's get on to what we're here for-the Frugal wins of the week.

* I picked up a box of Puffs tissue and got paid .20¢(after tax)to bring it home.

*  We did a whole lot of staying home last week.  We did some cleaning and small home projects and read mostly.  The laundry was done during the off-peak hours so we saved on electricity costs too.  Staying home=not spending money!

*  I signed up for e-coupons at my local Shursave market(they don't take IPQs there, just insert or emailed "glossy" Qs).  They had 2 items that were free after e-Qs last week but when I went to get them Saturday the items were out of stock so I got rain checks.  This week they had 2 items(1 free and 1 for .99¢ after e-Q)so I clipped those Qs and picked up the items plus the 2 rain check items, paying .99¢ for all this........

*  We got Subway one night for dinner last week.  I combined a Q(Any price 3 subs for $17)and a gift card to buy them.  Using the Q meant less money used from my gift card.

*  While at the Shursave market I also bought this.....

6 packages of Crystal Farms cheese(sliced and bar).  It was on sale for $1.88 a 7-8 oz. package this week.  Anything under $2 for 8 oz. is my "buy price" so it was a good deal on sale.
But what made this better was that I had 3 x $1/2 Crystal Farms products ManuQs(which Shursave would take).  You'll remember the free coupon inserts I got at the motel in Fargo ND I mentioned 2 FFs ago?

These are were the Qs came from and I got them for free too. 8-)))
So $1.38 per package of cheese after sale AND Qs was even nicer.

*  I earned enough in hotel points on the road trip to get two $50 gift cards for free.  They arrived last week........

$50 for Lowe's and $50 for Amazon.  A few more nights in motels this year and I'll have enough points for another $50 gift card.

That's about it for us last week.
What frugal things happened in your world?

What's Been Going on Here

Some Frugal Things at Chez Sluggy This Past Week--

* We got a refund check from our car insurance company.  Sorry I forgot to take a photo of it before putting it into the bank.  This was unexpected but because our son is now 21, we get a bit of a discount on our insurance now.  Every little bit helps, right?

* I got some deals at Weis(PMITA)Markets on Friday....

College Boy wanted some breakfast sandwiches to put in his mini-fridge back at school.  These are usually $4 a box, on sale for $3.50 this week at Weis and I had a $1/2 IPQ to pair with it so $3 a box of 4.

Arm & Hammer and Arrid Deodorants are .99¢ with week at Weis.  Pair the $1/1 ManuQs in last weekends inserts and you get FREE deodorants.  Just make sure you have something else in your order for the 2 cents overage for using the coupons.

I snagged some 50% produce mushrooms....1 lb. for $1.99 and 8 oz. pack of sliced bellas for $1.34.
And I had a Weis mailed to me Q for .50¢ an 8 oz. pack of sliced mushrooms so the bellas were .84¢ in the end.

A few brands of GM cereals were $1.44 a box for the Fabulous Friday sale.  Generally Mutli-Grain Cheerios are NEVER part of any cereal deal at our Weis, but Friday they were.
I had a $1/2 GM cereals IPQ left that was expiring soon to pair with these two boxes so they were .96¢ each instead of $1.44.

Earlier this month, on Rite-Aid Senior Citizen Wellness Wednesday they were giving out Balance Bar coupons.  The Wellness Ambassador gave me a stack and it's funny but my Rite-Aid doesn't even carry this brand of bar(I looked!).
But I hauled the coupons home and wouldn't you know it I found a deal at Weis to use them with.
Balance Bars are $1 each this week there and the coupons are $1.50/2 single bars(or 1 multi-pack), making these bars .25¢ each so $1.50 spent OOP on all.
I have 1 more Q left to take back later this week to get 2 more bars.
Daughter doesn't have time to eat when she works on weekends so she can take one of these in her pocket to munch on.

* We didn't go out all week while College Boy was here this past week(well, really not much opportunity to do so with the Blizzard of '17 here)nor did we get take-out(except for the Saturday when I brought him home when we ordered pizzas).
I suppose we'll take him our for his Birthday when he gets home for Summer break......only 3+ months late. 8-)))

* I want to mention that there is a DOUBLE DIP Opportunity at Weis this week too.  Two of the items on their "Buy 6, Get $3 Off" are the Kraft sliced and Kraft shredded cheese bags.  These two items are also part of the "Kraft Buy 5, Get $5 Off Instantly Deal" too.
So buy 6 Kraft cheese bags and get $8 Total off.
Good deal on cheese.
Would be better if there were cheese coupons to pair with it though.

* I hemmed College Boy's performance tuxedo pants this week.  Boy did I have a time with those!  Not so much the pants but my overlock machine.  I haven't really used it or had to rethread it since having cataract surgery.  I have a hell of a time seeing close-up now.  I do better with very bright light on what I am trying to see up-close.  I guess I need to start looking to buy a lamp for my sewing area to help.  Then I pinned one leg incorrectly(backwards actually).  I tried them on him and thought, "Hmm, are this boy's legs lopsided?". lolz  Nope, it was my pinning job and then I sewed it. Argh.  Then when I figured out what I did,  I couldn't get the stitching out because I couldn't see the black thread on black pants.
Double Argh!  After hours I got it out(and with help from Daughter)and got that pants leg hemmed correctly.  It didn't help that it was nighttime when I was doing this(lack of light)and I thought Hubs was taking him back the next morning so I was stressing out to get it done before they left.  The weather was crap yesterday so Hubs took him back today instead so I got an extra day to finish.

* I bought College Boy a neti pot this week.  He has horrible sinus troubles that no meds seem to help with so I showed him how to use my neti pot.  I still had $10 on that Rite-Aid Visa Gift Card(the expires the end of March)so I got him a pot up at Rite-Aid.  With 20% Wellness discount it was $9.03 after tax so nothing OOP.
I still have $1.01 left on the gift card.
And I also picked up a small plunger at the Dollar Tree for College Boy to take back to his dorm room. ;-)

* Other than the grocery store, Rite-Aid for drugs, the bank for cash for Hubs(and to pay the plow guy)we stayed home and didn't spend money.
Well I DID pay bills this week(the monthlies--internet, phone, water, credit card, and annual property taxes and annual sewage).
Lots of bills.....
I also realized this week that March is a three paycheck month for us so all my holding back overage from February to cover a heavy irregular bill month in March was for naught!  Boy, I sure miss my mind sometimes...... ;-)

I am enjoying the peace and quiet today.  It's just me and the dog until Daughter gets off her workshift and Hubs gets back from driving CB back to school.

What are you up to today?

What's Going on at Chez Sluggy Lately

*  We are well half over March now and the money is looking good.
Looking good despite having real estate taxes and the yearly sewage bill due this month. 8-)

To help offset these bills we had additional income this month----

2 stock dividend checks came in.
Our electric bill will be lower than usual for March due to this wacky warmer weather(though it is due to snow here this weekend).
A refund of a $314 medical bill for the Daughter we paid in February.  The doctor over billed so we got that money back.  Since I deducted it from February's income I get to add it back to March's income. 8-)
We also received our Federal tax refund this month.

*  Here is the extent of my shopping trips this week.  A trip to Rite-Aid for prescriptions led to this haul too......

Sale prices and/or 20% Wellness disccount combined with coupons and Plenti points earned back and rebates meant every single product was a moneymaker.

This all came to $23.02 with tax and I used Plenti Points to pay.
It also earned $27.00 in new Plenti Points.

I also got back the .67¢ I paid for the Cadbury Chocolate Egg in my Saving Star account, making this a $4.65 moneymaker.  8-)))

*  I brought a load from the toiletries stash down to the dining room to go through them and make up
another Giveaway Box.

Stay tuned for another giveaway coming up soon!

*  Hubs made a run to the local Shursave market this week for some groceries.  $9.25 was all that was spent so far this week.  I might actually stay under the food budget this month despite College Boy being home for a week and eating us out of house and home.

And that's about everything worth mentioning.  It's been a low key, quite(boring), stay-at-home kind of week.
