Very Sad News

After a marvelous trip to 6 Caribbean/Central American countries we all got the shock of our lives once we returned to Sissie's house.

On Christmas morning, Kim's husband, Joel, very unexpectedly passed away from a massive heart attack.  Everyone is still in shock over this.  Kim requested me to say something on the blog but words fail me other than to say life can change in an instant so enjoy your loved ones while you can.

Kim talked Joel into playing a game.

He was so proud of the shirt he won!

Kim obviously won't be online for awhile but please keep her and her family in your prayers at this time.  You can leave well wishes here which I will approve as I am able or leave messages on her blog Out My Window.

  2. Thank you for sharing the sad news. My heart is with Kim. Please let us know, and if in private too if there's anything that can be done to support her now and in the future. From Kim's words, he was a giver, a soul meant to be there for others. Now those he and Kim so graciously, kindly, and generously cared for need to be there for her.

  4. Kim,
I am stunned and so sorry! I wondered why you were not posting, assuming you were just busy. I am glad you had one big adventure and a really good time (from the pictures) and good times to the end. I am sorry is about all I can think. Something is wrong with my eyes, and I cannot see. Bye.

  12. I am just heartbroken for Kim. Thankful that they were living life right up to the end - together with the people they loved. Just so sudden & shocking. Please tell Kim we are thinking of her - wish she were closer so that we could do something for her. I know her girls & sisters will be the support she will need in the days ahead. Thanks, Sluggy, for letting us know. I'm sure you & your hubby are crushed.

  13. Oh my goodness, I am stunned and so sorry to hear this! Coincidentally my husband had a huge heart attack on Christmas evening and died yesterday. It is so hard, I have such empathy for Kim. Losing a husband is like losing half of a tennis ball, the other half just stops spinning. This too shall pass, but all my love to Kim right now. Hilogene in Az

  17. Oh my god I am in shock!!! My deepest condolences to Kim and her family. I just can’t believe this, I always read her blog. I was so impressed by his giving actions and he was such a loving grandpa, always babysitting, going for walks and picking up the kids. My heart breaks for the family and especially those little ones who were so loved by their grandpa and who will now never get to know him or really remember him!! And also my sympathy to Hilogene, so terribly sad also.

  25. How terrible and unexpected. I hope the memories from the trip can be top of mind. Health and care for ourselves is soooo important. Sluggy I often worry about you and your husband in that way and I pray a bad thing can drive positive health change amd some good can come of an otherwise devastating tragedy.
