May Charity Challenge....Share the Stockpile Wealth!

I regularly read Tanya's blog, over at the CVS SAVER. I am taking part in her monthly Charity Challenge for May. Please go check it out and think about sharing some of your couponing good fortunate with others like the Challenge Participants have.

The Lutheran Church here in Teeny Tiny Town has quite a few active social outreach programs. One of them being an area Food Bank or Pantry. I'm just blessed to overflowing with foodstuffs here from all the good deals I have found using coupons. We can't possibly eat it all so I called up the church and offered to make a donation to the Food Pantry from my stockpile. Here is what we put together to take over for the Pantry shelves.

This Church also holds a Free Medical Clinic for those who can't afford to go to the Dr. or to an Emergency Room for treatment. They are always in need of supplies and medicines too. I asked the lady up at the Church if they could use some Diabetic Glucose Monitors. She isn't involved in the Clinic but she said to bring them. If they can't use them, they will know of someone or some place else where they can be put to good use.
So we're also taking these up to the Church in the morning....

Meal Plan Monday May 11th Edition Easy Week!

The Meal Plan for last week went off mostly without a hitch, except for the Scallops & Fish. They just didn't happen...(what is it with me and seafood??lol).
And the Pork BBQ happened Sat. instead of Fri. The Pork BBQ almost didn't happen at all. I tried 3 times last week to locate a pork rump or shoulder to cook down but none of the grocery stores here had ANY Pork roasts....just some spareribs and chops.
I FINALLY located a 9.5lb. Pork Shoulder on special for .99¢ lb. What a great deal that was!! So I cooked that hog low and slow over 1.5 days and we'll get 3 or 4 meals out of that. Whatever doesn't get eaten this week will be frozen to have next month. The dogs are certainly loving all those lovely pork drippings, fat and scraps I saved for their dinner bowls.lol
As for the FOOD WASTE report for last week....we had a few grapes (that #1 son took when he was sick and didn't eat, but couldn't put back in the bag), a piece of lamb that never made it into the doggies food bowls, and about 4 overripe getting moldy strawberries hidden in the bottom of the container of strawberries I bought.
I really NEED to do a 'take everything out and scrub down the fridge' badly! Especially before the hubby's relatives arrive in 3 weeks for #1 son's graduation. Perhaps I'll get to that this week. Hubby will be in Canada for a work conference half of the week, so meals for most of this week will be quick, easy and lowkey. I don't foresee stocking up the fridge with groceries, so it will be a good time to do that scrubdown.
The Bargain Meal this week would have to be the Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup. I'll probably use about $7.00 in ingredients, which I already have here. My kids can each eat 2 sandwiches so there's almost an entire loaf of bread($1.99 on sale) and 3/4lb. of cheese($3.75). The soup(2 cans)are the cheapest part of this meal...2 cans I got at Target on sale for $.54 each($1.08 total). Add 1-2 tablespoons of butter(.10¢) & applesauce on the side(.14¢ at Target on sale)and you've got a filling meal(double helpings for 4)for $7.06 or $1.76 per person.
The only items I need to buy for this menu are the large Mushrooms for the Parmesan and Romaine Lettuce for the Caesar Salad and either Graham Crackers or a ready-made Graham crust for the Key Lime Pie and the weekly milk pick-up. Another eating from the Pantry/Stockpile Week for us.

I'll post a recipe for the Stuffed Waffles and the Bourbon Bacon Scallops later in the week, after I've served them, so check back.
Here's what is on the Menu at Sluggy's house this week.
MONDAY-Leftovers(tons of odds & ends in the fridge to eat)

TUESDAY-Meatloaf, Broiled Potatoes & Onions, Creamed Spinach

WEDNESDAY-Grilled Cheese, Tomato Soup

THURSDAY-Breakfast for Dinner...Stuffed Waffles

FRIDAY-Burgers on the Grill, Potato Salad, Corn on the Cob

SATURDAY-Mushroom Parmesan, Caesar Salad

SUNDAY-Bourbon Bacon Scallops, Stir-Fried Veggies, Rice

DESSERTS FOR THE WEEK-Carrot Cake, Key Lime Pie, Oranges

The Coupon Clipper Contest I won-Update

Remember about 10 days ago, I posted about a Coupon Clippers Contest I won that my local newspaper held? The post can be seen Here.

Anyway, the photo appeared in last Sunday's paper, the May 3rd edition. I finally got around to scanning it into the computer. I've blacked out the other winners' faces and names for privacy so my ugly mug is the only one you get to see.....lucky you!lolol

Please be kind. I had no make-up on, my hair needed work, I was having a bloated day & the reported made us all pose making the 'thumbs up' sign and look goofily happy.
At least I was clean.lol

CVS on Saturday at Overlapping Sales Store

The CVS where I like to shop(no mean old grumpy cashier! one),begins the new week's sale on Saturday. So if I go on Sat., I can do both this week's sale and the sale that is suppose to start on Sunday. This is a great thing usually, because it means I only have to make 1 trip to CVS every 2 Weeks and not miss a week's sale. Saves time, and gas money plus wear & tear on the car and the planet.
This week however, it caused a complication in my transaction.

I had $20 in Extra Care Bucks to roll, so here is what I picked up....

6x Vitamin Water @3/$4=$8
10x SoyJoy Bars @10/$5=$5
2x Colgate Max Toothpaste @$2.99=$5.98
2x Bayer Contour Meters @$14.99=$29.98
3x 12-pack Cokes @3/$12 **=$9.75 NOT PICTURED
**Ok, this was a problem having overlapping sales. The Cokes were suppose to be 3/$12 and buy $20 worth, get $10ECBs. But the sale that started on Sunday had buy 4 Coke 12 packs, get 1 Free(or $3.25 ea.). Asked before I checked out which sale would ring up and nobody knew.
Subtotal-$58.71
Tax-$.00

Coupons Used....
6x Vitamin Water @$.50=$3.00
2x SoyJoy Bars @$1.00=$2.00

1x Bayer Contour Meter @$30.00=$29.98(adjusted down to price of 2 Meters)
3x 12-pack Cokes @$1.00=$3.00

Coupon Total- $39.98

$58.71-$39.98=$18.73

I had planned to get Mini Wheats Cereal too so I could use the other $10ECB I had and lower my OOP, but they were out of cereal. Dang it!
The $4 Colgate ECB(2x$2) & $10 Bayer Meter ECB(2x$5) printed but the Coke $10ECB didn't print, because the lower price on the Cokes left me $2.25 short of spending $20 on Coke products.
So I went back in and explained to the Manager what happened and asked if I could buy 1 more Coke 12 pack and get the Free 5th one. He said ok so I bought....
1x Coke 12 pack @$3.25
Bottle of Aspirin $1.99 (for the doggy-she hurt her back)
Total $5.24
Used $1 Q & $4ECB from the Colgate I just got
OOP $.24
$10 ECB printed for the Cokes AND I got a 12 pack Free! ;-)
