My Super Exciting Weekend....Not So Much

Here's the plan at Chez Sluggy for the weekend.
Hold onto your hats because we are getting WILD here!  8-)))

We are going to clean out my daughter's old room.
She has been gone now just about 2 years since moving to Louisiana.
Needless to say whatever she couldn't fit into her subcompact car when she left didn't go with her.

We are in "get the house ready to sell" mode now so it's time to clear her stuff out.
I'll be taking photos of everything we remove from the room that belongs to her and will send the pictures to her and she can decide if it goes too charity, to the trash or we bring it with us on this next trip to see her.

I got enough of my own crap here, I don't need her "left-behinds" too.

Next it's on to the oldest son's stuff.  He has very little here but there is some and I'll do the same(take photos and he can decide)and the next time we go there or he comes here it can be carted off.....unless it is something he doesn't want then it goes soon to SA or the dump.

Also on the "clean out and clear out" list this weekend are--

A.  MY closet   Need I say more? lolz
B.  My flash drives  I have 2 flash drives I need to clean out/up the old files on them.  Every time my computer is about to die I backup files on these FDs.  I need to go through and delete stuff I don't need/want any longer and then reorganize what is left.

I have already started on 1 of the FDs.

And I found some photos I thought I had lost a long time ago.
Back in March of 2012 right before I had my heart episode I did a swap.....I think Carla organized it?

Anyway, my swappee was Judy.  I put a lot of time/thought into gathering her goodies according to her likes and dislikes and I took photos of everything even though how swaps work is that the recipient usually posts photos of what they get in the swap on their blog(if they have one).

Well around that time was also when Judy lost her husband so needless to say she never posted about what she got......nor would I have expected her to post about it given the circumstances.

So I can now(2 YEARS later!lolz)show what she got.  ;-)

Everything packed in a cute puppy gift bag

An over view of the goodies
A running joke about "Calgon, take me away!" and some hand sanitizer because she works in a hospital.

My prized homemade Pepper Relish

Some Easter candy(because it was almost Easter) and it's Irish Crème filled because of her Irish ancestry.

A PlanAhead journal for 2013 in her favorite color, red.

A cool pouch holding.......

Red Cloisonné Rosary Beads direct from Italy at great personal expense.....ok, not so expensive but a really nice set. 8-)

She wanted a new rosary and I found this neat set in her favorite color from a seller on eBay so it had to go into the swap bag.

So now I can mark this undone thing off my list.

And I can remark again that I miss Judy......as do many others.

If you are out there Judy reading this, please know that we miss you and worry about you and I'd love it if you'd email me sometime.

Ok, I am off to start the cleaning out upstairs now.  I doubt I'll get all this stuff done today but we'll get as much as we can and finish up during next week.

Maybe by next weekend the weather will be warm enough to start some yard clean-up.
I can only hope....

What exciting things have you got going on this weekend?

Weekend Happenings

               Last year's church auction goodies.

Since I don't have to go up to Rite-Aid today, whatever will I do with myself this weekend?!

It's rainy so no outdoor projects or the garage will happen at least today.

Hubs and I will be going to that annual local church auction this afternoon.  It's a fundraiser we attend every year for going on 6 or 7 years.
It's our regular October Date.
I get to be with my Hubs, spend money, get an adrenalin rush and buy stuff for cheap....what more could I ask for?
8-)

I posted a video about what I won last year in this post HERE.
It's a way to get stuff you need or want for cheaper.....and it helps the church pay it's bills.

Then I really do need to get some sewing done......at least cut some things out.
I have picked out fabrics and have my patterns made so I'll get to it this weekend.
Maybe...... ;-)

I've got leftovers still so no cooking today.
I've already viewed next week's grocery ads and between my main 2 stores there are only 4 items I want/need to pick up.
Next week is not a great week for grocery shopping here....at least for me.

Sunday starts a new week for my meal planning so I've gotten a start on figuring that out already.
Will work more on it this weekend.

I also need to change over my closet to Fall/Winter clothing and put the dresses which I usually wear in the Summer away.  The weather took a nosedive last night and the temperatures dropped significantly here.....and it's October already!?!
I should also start in on packing for our trip to Ocean City as it's coming up very soon.

After last week's Rite-Aid orgy my stockpile could use some reorganizing as well.
And speaking of stockpiles.....I need to gather another box of goodies for a giveaway.

Plus I have 2 dozen more fabrics to list in my Etsy shop.

And I could go to Rite-Aid on Sunday, since the new ad/deals start then, and do a transaction.

And if Sunday is nice Hubs and I could go for a ride somewhere together.

See?  I have lots of activities to participate in this weekend.

Or maybe I'll just stay in my pjs and take a nap or two......

What's on your plate this weekend?
Anything thrilling or out of the ordinary, or just the same old, same old stuff?

Final Sealed Pot Total for 2013 and What's on Deck for This Weekend

I finally hauled my Sealed Pot change up to the bank.  As you can see, I organize and roll my coins as I go rather than dumping it into a container loose for a year.

Here is all I was able to collect over this past year and most of this is collected from Hubs pocket change......

I was able to make 1 more roll of $10 and 1 more roll of 50¢ between the time of that photo in November and when I got it all to the bank earlier this week.

And here is what it looked like after the trip to the bank.....

$110.50 didn't make much of a dent in my Holiday spending.

If we didn't have kids and didn't spend on them, this amount would have gone far to cover the bulk of gifts I got for Hubs at least.
I figure any little bit helps though, right?  8-)

The snowstorm has already begun here so we'll be staying put in the house today.
No errands, no shopping today and probably tomorrow too.

The perfect day to finish decorating the tree, wrapping gifts and just relaxing together.
No cooking today as we have tons of leftovers to chose from.
And a walk in the snow for the doggy and organizing my next Salvation Army donation in the garage.
I am not ruling out that "adult beverages" may be consumed today......

What's on your plan for the weekend?

Did you do the Sealed Pot challenge or that 52 Week Money Challenge this year?
How did you do on it?

MIA.....I'm so Glad I'm Back!

This has been me for the past 36 hours.
Stuck like a dog up a tree..me without an internet connection.....Oh my Gawd!

I just got back online this evening.  I've been going cold turkey since yesterday in the wee hours of the morning.
Did anyone miss me?
I sure missed ALL OF YA'LL!

Seriously.
Missed.
Ya'll.

I'm wading through my 150+ emails and catching up on all the blogs I read.....this should keep me busy through the weekend!lolol

We spent the first 24 hours trying to diagnose the problem....would have been quicker if our ISP didn't keep putting us on hold for hours and hours...grrrrrr!!!
The culprit this time turned out to be the wireless router.  This is the 3rd one we have "offed" in as many years!  And the last one was supposed to be the best one out there...ugh!
I am soooo tired of buying these things.

I spent the last day and a half cleaning stuff(bedroom), organizing stuff(garage & storage), taking some photos, rubbing dog bellies, running off to Rite-Aid, taking #2 son to assorted music practices/lessons and trying not to melt from the heat....oh, and cursing the computer, the ISP, the cable company, Bill Gates, and anybody else who got caught in my crosshairs.

Tomorrow the temperature is suppose to be brutal here so I'll have plenty of time to sit on the computer in the a/c'ed room and write blog posts while I'm not submerged in the pool or avoiding cooking.  I think I'll make hubs cook something outside on the grill since the deck will be scorching hot at that time of day.

Hubs started his vacation from work this evening so he'll be around 24/7 for the next couple of weeks.  He has promised to clean his piece of the garage this weekend.
Can I say I ain't holding my breath?lol

I've got a couple of trips to Rite-Aid and to the grocery store planned Saturday in the morning before it gets too warm to be in the car.

Sunday I'm hitting Staples first thing for a FREE BACKPACK(after Easy Rebate/Rewards).  I get my ink there so instead of paying cash for it, when the reward comes in I'll use that to pay.  I would be spending money there anyway on the ink, so might as well get the free backpack instead of spending money on one some place else, right?

Other than that we don't have any plans.  Just keeping cool and puttering around the garden some.

What does everyone else have planned for the weekend?

Holiday Weekend Time!

If you are spending your holiday weekend someplace that looks like this I have one thing to say to you........

TAKE ME WITH YOU!!!

Here at Chez Sluggy in landlocked Pennsyltucky, we'll be rocking the back deck with assorted relatives instead.  Hopefully the weather holds out because the house inside is a mess and as you know, my dining room table is out of commission...perhaps permanently. 8-(

I have the honor of throwing a barbeque for said relatives.  Except I really don't feel like cooking.  How come nobody else ever throws that 'que so I don't have to work it?  Maybe I'll go on strike and make the relatives bring the food.....um, on second thought I DO like to eat so nevermindthat!lolol
I just hate to go to the grocery store(since I haven't been again this week!)and spend a load of $$$ on food.  The 'sales' at the stores this week are pretty lame unless you plan on eating nothing but mustard and drinking soda.

Speaking of soda....we officially ran out this week.  All those 12 packs of soda I had accumulated over the past 6 months or so are G-O-N-E!  The teens have been reminded every month as the supply dwindled that it would NOT be replenished......now they may actually realize I mean what I said!lol
I wonder how many hours until they start freaking out......

Today I've got to take the 3 dogs to the vet for their annual.  This should be fun times, no?lol   Fun times and another big hole in my wallet...
And we get to talk to the vet about our bladder challenged beagle also.....oh goody!  I have a feeling this will not go well for the beagle.....

Then I've got more clearing out and cleaning up to do at the house before Sunday when the relative shows up for a weeklong stay.
Next week you can either find me in the garage(more cleaning/organizing), in the storage unit(more clearing and digging out)or in the bedroom closet(changing over the clothes to the warm weather stuff).    Plus it's also the last week 2 of the teens will be home before they leave for summer jobs so there is stuff to get them ready to send off.

I don't know what, if anything, the relative has planned for her week.....

And next week means the end of the month calculating to see how we did on the budget and the Savings Challenge so check back for that.

And when I went to pick up the Minivan from the $667 a/c repair the guy told me the mechanic saw my steering was leaking while he was under the car......do you hear that crappy KA-CHING sound?
I do!
Good times......

I'll be here this weekend and probably posting when I get time.  Beats interacting with the family sometimes, don't it?lolol

Enjoy your time off, relax and hug a soldier if you get the chance!

Tick Tock Tick Tock, the Clock is Ticking

So I was a very good girl today. I stayed off my foot for the most part. I elevated it and put ice on it some. I took some belated grocery run pictures & sat here and did my end of month totals and such. And I sat and gave love to the doggies and brushed them. Things I could do without using the foot.

But all those FREEBIE Qs & the thought that they would expire before I could get to the store again weighed on my mind....all.....day.....long!

Then hubby came home and did the sweetest thing. He offered to take me out and help me go use these Freebie Qs. Instead of coming home and relaxing after a really hectic week at work, he drove me to a couple of stores AND went in and went through the check-out and bought packs of t.p. with the freebie Qs.
And he did this all BEFORE he got his dinner....if you knew hubby, you would know what a sacrifice THAT was!lolol
I treated him to a rare dinner out WITHOUT KIDS because he did this coupon run for me.....and because I love him the bestest! ;-))
Ok, so the dinner out was at Friendly's but hey, at least it wasn't MacDonald's, right?

Here is what is left of the Marcal Coupon Stacks now....

We used all the Free Single Rolls Qs & only have 3 $4/1 Item Qs left, plus the 29 $1/1 off Qs. I'll use the last 3 Freebie Qs tomorrow & those $1/1 Qs can just expire. That won't bother me....much. ;-)

Onward to the next Things on my To Do List....post those end of month totals, get the garden put in & clean the garage out!

Anybody else got any big plans for this weekend? Let's hear 'em!
