Black Friday Sale at Rite-Aid....How Did I Do?

So I finally had time to go through all my Rite-Aid loot this morning.
I took photos of it all, one photo per day's shopping.

This is Thursday's haul.........

Thursday I restricted my buying to my local store.

Friday's haul............

Friday I hit my local store and a store on the other side of the river in another town with Hubs.

And Saturday's haul.............

Saturday saw me hit 3 stores down the valley and then a final couple of transactions at my local store.

Total Tally of Goodies........with cost per item which was paid for in BC or gift card(* denotes freebies)

26 boxes of Kleenex(*)
4 Conair hair brushes(*)
4 Scunci hair elastics(*)
4 Gift Tape rolls(*)
2 Magnavox ear buds(*)
1 Crest toothpaste(*)
8 Russell Stover Xmas chocolates(*)
7 Colgate toothpaste(5 -.50¢/2 *)
10 Nestle candy bars(8 */2 .50¢ ea)
14 Betadine cream(-$3.50 ea MM)
12 pack of Listerine Ready Tabs(.42¢ pack)
19 bars of Yardley soap(.42¢ ea)
12 Kokie nail polish(.49¢ ea.)
2 tins of Butter Cookies(.50¢ ea)
3 Carmex lip balm(.60¢ tube)
2 Dentek floss picks(.60¢ pack)
6 cans of Almonds(.75¢ can)
4 packs of Cosmetic pads(.89¢ ea)
2 Efferdent denture tablets($1.00 ea)
2 Duracell battery packs($1.00 ea)
30 Freeman beauty masks($1.02 ea)
10 bottles of Nivea lotion($1.49 bottle)
2 packs of toilet paper($1.50 pack)
3 boxes of Cereal($1.71 ea)
6 Salonpas pain patches($2.00 ea)
2 Oral-B tongue scrapers($2.00 ea)
1 FDS feminine spray($2.00)
3 Yes To wipe packs($2.10 ea)
10 Assorted Shampoo($2.04 ea)-not counting PandG Rebate
2 3-packs of Planters nuts($2.49)
5 bags of Coffee($2.49 bag)
2 bags of Russell Stover chocolates($2.99)
4 bags of Dog Food($2.99 ea)
2 Beard Trimmers($4.99 ea)
1 Hair Dryer($4.99)
1 Curling Iron($4.99)
3 Cologne gift sets($10.32 ea)

I also got another $20 total off with "Spend $XX/Get $X Off Catalinas" used on 5 transactions.

I earned $80 in $10 Rite-Aid gift cards for buying "Beauty Reward" qualifying items(2 gift cards per account/card).  I still need to cash in 2 of the Reward Qs since my store ran out of Rite-Aid gift cards on Saturday. lolz

I've earned $11.45 so far on Ibotta and if some of the items return to my list in time I can send for more rebates($11.00 more but I figure they won't all reset in time).
I've earned $8 on SavingStar too and $2 on Checkout51.

I also had to do a "post coupon" twice totaling $3.25(I forgot a Q in one transaction and the other case at a store with an idiot cashier who wouldn't take a second of the same Q(buying 2 items)because she confused the wording "one coupon per purchase/item" with "one coupon per transaction" and wouldn't even scan it. ugh.

Gift Card Spent..................$39.11
Bonus Cash Spent............$424.78
Total Spent BC/GC..........$463.89
Reg. Retail of Items.......$1050.59

Bonus Cash Left.........................$118.52
Rite-Aid Gift Cards Earned.........$80.00
Cash Rebates Earned(so far)........$25.05($6.50 left to submit for)
Post Coupon Cash back.................$3.25

So I didn't start the week with $424.78 in Bonus Cash but by buying items that gave back BC I rolled lots of BC those 3 days..  I also had earned some BC from buying Gift Cards(which gave BC)but they were Gift Cards I would have bought anyway. ;-)

The best thing were the Conair appliances...$14.99 in the BF ad and was suppose to give back $5 BC but in reality they gave back $10(2 x $5)so only "cost" $4.99 after BC.
Those Betadine creams were a Nov. monthly deal that gave back $3.50 BC for each one(limit 4).  There was a PDF Q for it $2/1 online.  If your store had 5 of them(and you printed off 5 Qs)they were a moneymaker for BF ads....buy 5 for $10($2 each), use 5 x $2/1Q, paid ZERO and get back $14 in BC.
Crazy!!!  But of course I went to 5 different stores and 4 of the stores only had 3 boxes and 1 store didn't carry that item.  I paired them best I could with either FDS spray, Efferdent tablets, or tongue scrapers and each grouping was a moneymaker no matter what.

I also hit $75 for the year spent on Allergy items with a Kleenex purchase so I got an extra $20 BC reward on that transaction.

It wasn't a perfect plan execution however and mistakes were made.
I was trying to limit my purchases per day to how ever much BC was on that card but with items that gave back the most BC so I could roll BC into the next day's shopping.  A few times I had to use some of my free R-A gift card to pay when BC wouldn't cover the transaction.

I didn't max out a few BC deals I wanted to and when stores ran low or out of certain items I had to improvise.
I was limited by the coupons I had in hand plus some L2CQs refused to come off when I tried to use them.
Plus I used a lesser value Q on some things by mistake so I lost a bit of ground there.

And the dog food....I thought they qualified for an Ibotta rebate but the bags were 8 oz. too light.(Rebate was for 4-14 lb. bags and my bags were 3.5 lbs.  If I had scanned them in the store first I would have known that.  They were still a good deal just not a great deal because of that.) meh.

All in all I am happy with the result.  Even though over the years Rite-Aid has gotten stingier and stingier with the Black Friday deals I feel I did well in taking advantage of the offers I wanted.
I brought home some gifts to give, some household items we can always use(looking at you TP and facial Tissues!)some food items we use(nuts, coffee and doggie kibble), some donation items, as well as a load of goodies for Sluggy's Boring Blog Giveaway Boxes in 2020.

Now I just have to figure out how to spend down/roll/convert that $118.52 in Bonus Cash before the end of December when it all expires.

The Rite-Aid Saga This Week

I had returned some items on Monday and got a combo of cash back and BC back....except the next day the BC wasn't back on my account.
So a chat session with CS and I was told it "sometimes" take 2 days to see your BC credited to your account.

Next day and still no BC on the account.
sigh.

So I waited another day(still no BC, surprise!)then I did another live chat online and I got the same CS rep as on Tuesday.  Went through the issue again, rep said the BC was still showing as pending so she manually put it back plus another $5 for my trouble.  Sweet.

I was so antsy because I wanted to spend that BC this week before the sale ended on a BOGOFree Nature's Truth supplement offer at R-A which I had Qs to pair with the deal.

Finally got to do the transaction on Friday and I had a "Spend $30/Get $6 Off Q" that R-A snail mailed to me as well to use.........

2 x Nature's Truth turmeric BOGOF=$15.49
2 x Nature's Truth turmeric BOGOF=$19.99
1 x Mitchum deo 20% Wellness disc.=$3.59
1 x Kokie nail polish 20% Wellness disc.=$3.99
SubTotal.....$43.06

Coupons Used
1 x $6/$30 R-AQ=$6.00
2 x $2/1 Nature's Truth IPQ=$4.00
1 x $2/1 Nature's Trush L2CQ=$2.00
1 x $1/1 Mitchum ManuQ=$1.00
1 x $/1 Mitchum R-AQ=$2.00
Coupon Total.........$15.00

$43.06-$15.00=$28.06 + .32¢ tax(on nail polish+deo)=$28.38 paid for with Bonus Cash.
I earned back $14 in new BC($10 wys $30 Naature's Truth, $4 Kokie).

Spent down $14.06 on the BC on this transaction but I've got $19.62 in BC left on this card now.
I wanted 4 of the less expensive bottles of turmeric but they only had two. Oh well.  I am still happy with this as these 4 bottles plus what I already have at home has me stocked up on turmeric until next Spring.  I take this daily for my HS for inflammation and it really helps.

The Kokie is free after Bonus Cash(limit 2)until the sale ends tonight except if there is sales tax charged in your state you will have to pay that, so not a freebie in those states but almost.

I've got a $4 wys $20 RAQ for my personal card so I might use that one next week because I have BC to roll on that card too.

Frugal Friday....The February 1st Edition

Let's see what wins we had this past week on the frugality front.........

*  I found money!

Actually I found 1¢ last Friday and daughter was with me at Weis and found another 1¢, which she gave to me so 2¢ total went into the found change envelope.

*  I didn't get the instant $3 off when I bought 6 of the Mix and Match items at Weis(PMITA)Markets last week(evidently the Daisy sour cream I purchased wasn't coded into the scheme correctly)so I hauled back to Weis with my receipt and the ad to get my money back.....

Now my 6 items after instant refund and coupons used cost me $5.84 instead of the $11.94 with just the sale prices.  That's a difference of  $6.10 which was well worth pursuing in my book!

*  Back in early December of 2018 I sent away for a bunch of freebie samples and Qs.  The first one finally showed up this week in the mail..........

No Qs just a sample of this hair product.  Too bad we never get these good hair coupons in our paper inserts(heck we no longer get the Red Plum/Retail Me Not inserts at all in our area papers!)so I can't/won't be buying this stuff.

I got a follow-up email for the Breathe Right strip freebie I sent for asking me how I liked them.  Umm, well the sample never arrived so well, I can't tell you anything. lolz

*  I haven't been reporting in on my cash back/rebates weekly yet this year so let me give a report on what we earned back for all of January.

Ibotta
 $36.40

SavingStar
$15.25
($4 of that was from 2018 that was earned after I moved the 2018 earned into my bank account.)

Checkout51
$0.00 (I need $7.50 more to cash out of this but I hardly ever buy anything that qualifies for their rebates.)

So $51.65 earned in cash rebates on stuff I was going to buy anyway going into February 2019.

*  Last Friday I did go to Rite-Aid as I had to roll some Bonus Cash and I had a $5 Kimberley-Clark purchase Catalina expiring too.......

I paired the 30% off Friends and Familys Q(valid on Fri/Sat.)with $2/1 Everpure IPQs and stacked a $1/1 Everpure R-A Q with that(since as I noted above, we don't get the good beauty/cosmetic RetailMeNot Qs)so each tube was $5.59(30% off of reg. retail)+ $3 in Qs off, making each tube $2.59.  I bought over $30 worth(before Qs of $18)so I earned $10 Bonus Cash back.
$33.55-$18Qs=$15.55-$5 Catalina=$10.55 paid for with BC, earned $10 BC back so .55¢ for all 6.

*  I talked about the Target freebie trip already.......

Everything in the photo plus $25+ in drinks paid for with a free gift card.

That's about it for me this week.
The only other thing is no eating out this past week.
It's too dang cold out to go anywhere much! lolz

What frugal wins did y'all have this week?

It's currently -5F here but going up to a balmy 15F today....woohoo!
Stay warm!!!

Rolling the BC at Rite-Aid

Here's how I rolled my Bonus Cash at Rite-Aid so far.
I had to change my plan on the fly because our area didn't get the $3/1 Tide Q in the insert....just a message to go online to the P and G site to download that Q and of course, the site only let's you download one of each Q. sigh.

First on Daughter's card.........

2 x Tide on sale=$11.88
4 x Head and Shoulders on sale=$23.96
Subtotal.......$35.84

Coupons Used
2 x $3/1 Tide(1 IPQ/1 L2CQ)=$6.00
2 x $4/2 HandS ManuQ=$8.00
Coupon Total.....$14.00

$35.84-$14.00=$21.84+$1.31 tax=$23.15

Except that I had five shampoos and my $2/1 Head and Shoulders Load2CardQ didn't come off so I returned it.  Tracking still gave me credit for that $5.99 so I am ahead a bit if that tracking stays.
What I actually paid remains the same as the refund returns BC not cash.

Paid with BC, earned back $15 new BC for spending $30.
I also earned a bonus $5 in BC for spending $25 but those BC will be put onto my card by 7/21 per the email informing me about this special deal for Gold Members.
So eventually I'll have earned $20 BC and my "spend down" will amount to $3.15 on this transaction.

I need to wait until Monday when these $15 get credited to this card to do this Deal again as I don't have enough BC on this card until then.
I have $11.83 tracking toward my second $30 Deal so only have to spend $18.17 next time.

Then I did this transaction on my son's card........

2 x Head and Shoulders on sale=$11.98
3 x Pantene on sale=$10.50
2 x Tampax on sale=$8.00
SubTotal.........$30.48

Coupons Used
1 x $4/2 HandS ManuQ=$4.00
1 x $5/3 Pantene ManuQ=$5.00
1 x $3/2 Tampax ManuQ=$3.00
Coupon Total.......$12.00

$30.48-$12.00=$18.48+.81¢ tax=$19.27
Paid for with BC, earned $15 in new BC(plus $5 in bonus BC by 7/21).
After the bonus BC gets on my card this is a .73¢ moneymaker.
I have .48¢ tracking toward my second $30 Deal.

Then on my card I did this.......

1 x Bounty towels on sale=$6.94
3 x Pantene on sale=$10.50
2 x Febreeze on sale=$5.98
2 x Tampax on sale=$8.00
SubTotal......$31.42

Coupons Used
1 x $1.50/1 Bounty IPQ(higher value than the one in the insert)=$1.50
1 x $5/3 Pantene ManuQ=$5.00
1 x BOGOFree Febreeze ManuQ=$2.99
1 x $3/2 Tampax ManuQ=$3.00
Coupon Total....$12.49

$31.42-$12.49=$18.93+.82¢ tax=$19.75
Paid with BC, earned back $15 BC(and $5 bonus BC by 7/21).
After that comes in this becomes a .25¢ moneymaker.
I have $1.42 tracking toward the second $30 Deal so have to spend $28.58

So I went ahead since I had enough BC left on my card and did the Deal again......

3 x Pantene on sale=$10.50
3 x Puffs tissue on sale=$2.97
2 x Febreeze on sale=$5.98
2 x Dawn on sale=$1.98
2 x Tampax on sale=$8.00
SubTotal.....$29.43

Coupons Used
1 x $5/3 Pantene ManuQ=$5.00
3 x .50¢/1 Puffs ManuQ=$1.50
1 x BOGOFree Febreeze ManuQ=$2.99
2 x .25¢/1 Dawn ManuQ=.50¢
1 x $3/2 Tampax ManuQ=$3.00
Coupon Total......$12.99

$29.43-$12.99=$16.44+.69¢ tax=$17.13
Paid for with BC, earned back $15 in new BC(and $5 in bonus BC by 7/21).
Once the bonus BC is credited to the card, this transaction becomes a $2.87 moneymaker.

Altogether I am $3.83 moneymaker and spent down $3.19 in BC so overall I have a .64¢ moneymaker on all this so far, even with paying sales tax so I am all good with this. 8-)))

Rite-Aid to Roll the Bonus Cash & Heads Up! for Sunday

I was able to roll/spend down some of the Bonus Cash on two of our Wellness cards this week.

I had gone to my R-A earlier this week and couldn't find the item I wanted to buy/roll BC with.  I didn't think to ask anyone who worked there if they knew where it was located(because I pretty much know the layout of that store).  I went back on Friday while Hubs and I were out and did ask.

Silly me, thinking the sleep aid product would be with all the other sleep aid products on the pain reliever aisle.
No, this item was over with the vitamins?
Okaaaaaay....at least I finally found it, right? ;-)

2 x Nite Thru sleep aid on sale=$12.00
2 x Neutrogena acne bar on sale BOGO50%=$4.93
SubTotal.......$16.93

Coupons Used
2 x $3/1 Neutrogena products(coupons dotcom)IPQ=$6.00

$16.93-$6.00=$10.93
I paid with BC and earned back $10 in new Bonus Cash(2 x $5 Nite Thru)so "'spent down" the Bc by .93¢.
There was $1.07 in overage using the Neutrogena Qs on those bars.

While in town we stopped at a different Rite-Aid, a smaller store which didn't carry the Nite-Thru but did have the Neutrogena soap so I bought this on a different card.......

4 x Pringles on sale=$6.00
2 x Neutrogena acne bars on sale BOGO50%=$5.38(these were priced higher at this store)
SubTotal......$11.38

Used 2 more $3/1 Neutrogena Qs and a $1/4 Pringles ManuQ so $11.38-$7.00=$4.38 paid for with Bonus Cash.
I earned $2 in new BC($2 wyb4 Pringles)so I "spent down" $2.38 in BC on this card.

This Sunday's ad is a great opportunity to roll your Bonus Cash!

There is a Proctor and Gamble "Spend $30/Get $15 BC" Deal(limit 2 Deals per card/account).
Pair it with the P&G coupon insert due in Sunday's paper for some cheap/free stuff like shampoo, laundry detergent, tampons, etc.

Also, if you are a Gold level Wellness members there is a special Deal from Sunday to the 4th of July....for every $25 you spend you get $5 in BC with no limit to how many times you can earn this.
Rumor is that it may show on your account/receipt right away like it did make in April(I think it was that month)OR it may show up at a later day like the last time they ran this promo.  Sunday we'll all know more.
So if you plan on doing the P&G Deal,if you do it before Thursday and you are a Gold level you'll get an extra $5 for every $25 you spend on that deal.

This is not just a weekly P&G Deal, it runs all month but the sale prices are only good this week.
There looks like there are some Crest double dips running in the July 8th ad........

These Crest items are included in the "Spend $30/Get $15 BC" Deal but next week they also give BC independent of that Deal so double dips.
No way to know for sure if these particular Crest items are part of the monthly Deal until Sunday when they will be marked as part of the deal or not...but if you don't finish off your Deals this coming week you can always add the Crest the following week to max out your Deal.
The only problem with the Crest is that the cost after Qs show the Load2Card Q and not the insert Q values which may be lower.  If you can't/don't have L2CQs attached to your Wellness card then this won't help you(I can't access L2C on two of my cards so won't help me there.) sigh

Just a little heads up for those out there who need to roll Bonus Cash like I do.  8-)))

A Little Rite-Aid This Week

Up to Rite-Aid for a few items this week.

On Daughter's card...........

2 x large bags M&M's caramel on sale=$5.00 **
2 x Gatorade BOGOFree=$2.49
2 x Blue Diamond Almonds BOGOFree=$5.29
2 x 2 pack Lever soap BOGO50%=$4.48 ***
1 x Hydralyte on sale=$1.00 *
1 x Colgate toothpaste on sale=$3.99 ****
SubTotal........$22.25

Coupons Used
1 x $1/1 PeelieQ on one of the M&M bags=$1.00
1 x $1.50/2 Blue Diamond cans ManuQ=$1.50
1 x $2/1 Hydralyte IPQ=$2.00
1 x $2/1 Colgate In-AdQ=$2.00
1 x $2/1 Colgate ManuQ=$2.00
Coupon Total.....$8.50

$22.25-$8.50=$13.75 + .42¢ tax=$14.17

$14.17 in BC was used to pay and $10 in new BC was earned($5 wyb2 Select bath items-Lever, $1 Colgate, $4 wyb $12 food items).

I also submitted for $2 in Ibotta cash rebates(2 x $1 M&M caramel flavor).

* The Hydralyte Q was $1 more than the sale price of the item so you need to have something else in your order to absorb that overage.
** The 6 food/drink items were part of a Spend $12/Get $4 BC Deal.  College Boy(got to find a new name for him now, don't I?lol)can always use Gatorades, he also loves M&M's and I can have the Almonds.  There was a surprise $1 off peelie on one of the bags and $2 from Ibotta cash back on this variety of M&Ms so not bad at $4.28 for all 6 after BC/cash back.
*** If you can find the 2 packs of Lever soap it's a small moneymaker this week.  At BOGO50%off the soap comes to $4.48 and gives back $5 in BC.
****The Colgate was a 1¢ moneymaker after stacking the $2/1 In-AdQ and the $2/1 ManuQ in the sunday insert a couple of weeks ago.

Then I bought this stuff on my son's card.......

2 x Liquid IV hydration packets(rain check)=FREE(They were out of this item on a Deal last year and I got a rain check.)
1 x Hydralyte on sale=$1.00 *
1 x Doan's pain cream on sale=$9.00 **
1 x Remfresh(rain check)=$5.00
2 x Lever soap on sale BOGOFree=$4.48 ***
SubTotal........$19.48

Coupons Used
1 x $2/1 Hydralyte IPQ=$2.00
1 x $4/1 Doan's cream IPQ=$4.00
1 x $5/1 Remfresh IPQ=$5.00
Coupon Total.....$11.00

$19.48-$11.00=$8.48 + .18¢ tax=$8.66

I used $8.66 in BC and earned back $13.00 in new BC.

* Again I made sure to have something else besides the Hydralyte in the order to absorb the Q's overage.
** The Doan's is part of a monthly Deal of Doan's/Vivarin/Midnite.  The $4/1 Q brought that price down to $5 and it gave back $8 in BC.  There is a limit of 1 per card/account on this Deal so be careful and don't try to do it twice on the same card.
*** Again, the 2 packs of Lever are a .52¢ moneymaker after BC earned for buying it.

The electrolyte drinks/tablets/packets are something that's always good to have on hand in the Summer months(or for re-hydration after certain diarrhea inducing illnesses run through your family).  College Boy will be working a warehouse job this Summer and might need this stuff so if the store is giving it to me for free(or better)I am buying it.  ;-)

Here's the summaryof how I did.....

Total spent in BC.....$22.83
Total earned in BC....$23.00
Total cash rebates earned...$2.00
I was able to roll some BC and actually make money on this trip.

Go me. lolz
