Rolling Register Rewards at WAGS....2/24

Since we were expecting a long Snow 'Event' Thursday and Friday here in PA, I hopped up to WAGS Wednesday evening to roll some RRs that were expiring on Friday.
Just in case I couldn't make it out in time.

I bought this.....
4 x Hershey's Pieces Candy Bags on sale $2.50=$10.00
1 x Gillette Fusion Razor on sale=$8.99
2 x Crest Toothpaste $2.69=$5.38
2 x Right Guard Deo on sale BOGO=$2.99
1 x Goody Hairbands=$2.99
1 x Duracell Batteries 8pk. on sale=$5.99
3 x Hydrogen Peroxide $.99=$2.97
SubTotal....$39.31

Coupons Used
4 x $1/1 Hershey's Pieces Candy Bags ManuQ=$4.00
1 x $41 Gillette Fusion Razor ManuQ=$4.00
1 x $1/2 Crest Toothpaste ManuQ=$1.00
1 x $2/2 Right Guard Deo IPQ=$2.00
1 x $1/1 Duracell Batteries ManuQ=$1.00
1 x WAGS In-Ad Q Hydrogen Peroxide =$1.97
2 x WAGS Feb. Booklet $1.50/1 Crest TPaste Q=$3.00
Coupons Total....$16.97

RRs Used
1 x $10(Joint Juice)
1 x $3(Schick Razor)
1 x $2(Poligrip)
1 x $2(Lypsyl)
RRs Total....$17.00

$39.31-$16.97=$22.34-$17.00=$5.34+$1.26 tax=$6.60 OOP
I hadn't planned on getting the Batteries but daughter needed them for her calculator to take the SATs in 2 weeks.  Without the batteries, I would have been OOP $1.31.

I received RRs totaling $11 for this transaction....$5 for the Hershey's Candy, $4 for the Razor & $2 for the HairBands.  I spent $17 in RRs.
The purchase of the Hershey's candy also triggered a ManuQ for $1/1 off a bag of M&Ms.  This doesn't expire until 4/21/10 so it might mean cheap M&Ms when the Easter candy goes on clearance.

I still had a $1 RR to roll so I bought.....

2 x Hydrogen Peroxide $.99=$1.98
1 x Gillette Razor on sale=$8.99
1 x Candy Bar=$.69
SubTotal....$11.66

Coupons Used

1 x $41 Gillette Fusion Razor ManuQ=$4.00
1 x WAGS In-Ad Q Hydrogen Peroxide=$1.31
Coupon Total....$5.31

Register Rewards Used
1 x $1(old RR)
1 x $5(new from Pieces Candy Bags)
RRs Total....$6.00

$11.66-$5.31=$6.35-$6.00=$.35+$.54 tax=$.89 OOP

I received RRs totaling $4 for the Gillette Razor.  I spent $6 in RRs.
I now have $10 in RRs to roll within 2 weeks.  Let's hope there are some good things I can use with RRs attached offered at WAGS in those 2 weeks.

Though the Peroxide was a bit more than the cheapest filler items I could have added to my orders in order to use all my coupons and register rewards, I'd rather spend a little more and get something I can use than some junkie thing.  I love to use Peroxide for cleaning and in the laundry!

Walgreen's Scenario for Week of 9/27/09...$1.30OOP & $11RRs

I have worked up a Walgreen's scenario for those of us who have expiring $5RRs from buying the TRIAMINIC products a couple of weeks ago.  You remember....the Triaminic Nighttime that was spitting out 2 $5RRs WYB 2.  One of those RRs was a Novartis Catalina so you have to avoid paying for any THERAFLU that generates a RR this week with those $5RRs.
Here's the deal I've worked out....
In the end for each $5RR used, you will have $11 in RRs, be OOP approx. $1.30(plus tax) & have 7 products and 2 fillers.

If you aren't starting with that $5RR then you have to do some other scenarios to get to where you have a $5RR.  You can use this one I've worked out HERE.

SCENARIO-starting with a $5RR

*Step One
Buy 1 Vaseline Sheer Lotion for $6.99.
Use an IP Q for $1.50/1.
Buy 1 Hall's Drops for $1.00.
Use .75/1 Q from sunday's paper.
Buy a small filler.(I use a pack of Ramen for .29¢ or something on clearance if it's under that price.).
Pay with your $5RR(Novartis)& $1.03OOP+tax.
Receive a $7RR(Vaseline is a Unilever company)& a $1RR(Hall's is a Cadbury/Ames company)=$8RRs.

*Step Two
Buy 1 Gillette Razor for $8.99.
Use the $4/1 Q from sunday's paper.
Buy 1 Herbal Essences Shampoo for $2.99.
Use $1/1 HE Q from the sunday paper(a few weeks back). Buy a small filler.(IE; Ramen noodles for .29¢).
Pay with your $7RR(Unilever)+.27¢OOP&tax.
Receive a $6RR(Gillette is a P&G company)& a $2RR(Herbal Essences is a P&G company)=$8Rrs.
Carryover your $1RR(Cadbury).
$9RRs total.

*Step Three
Buy 3 Theraflu for $12.00($4ea.).
Use the $2/1 Q from the Walgreen's Health Booklet of Qs-1 Q will take off $2 on each box.
Pay with your $6RR(Gillette/P&G)+any applicable tax.
Receive an $8RR(Theraflu is a Novartis company).
Carryover your $1RR(Cadbury), $2RR(HerbalE/P&G).
$11RRs total.

In the End....
You have $11RRs-an increase of $6RRs from where you started.
You are OOP approx. $1.30+tax.
You have 7 products+2 Ramen noodles or other fillers.

What Walgreen's Scenario have you worked out for this week?

Walgreens real Cheap Baby Wipes & MAYBE FREE Dental Items!

I know you've probably already read on one of many blogs this week about the great deal on Huggies Baby Wipes at WAGS going on now.

If you haven't, let me enlighten you. ;-))

There is a pamphlet of "In-Store Coupons available at Walgreen's. I have found it either by the current sales flyers in the store or sitting in a stack on one of the other sales counters(photo, beauty dept. or the auxillary front register counter). It's called "Walgreen's Back-2-School Coupon Book" and looks like this....

Inside there is a $2 off Huggies Wipes 64-172 ct.(that would be a full-sized box or a refill bag).
If you buy more than 1 box of Wipes, you ONLY need 1 $2 In-Store Coupon. The register will take off $2 for as many boxes as you buy per transaction.

Now pair this In-Store Coupon with one of the Manufacturer's Coupons from the Sunday coupon inserts of a few weeks ago. My area got $1/2 Huggies Wipes but your area may have gotten .50¢ or .75¢ off 1 box per coupon.
Depending on the reg. retail at your WAGS for this item(the 64-72 ct. boxes) & your Manu. Coupon face value, using the In-Store Coupon WITH your Manufacturer's Coupon will make your box of Wipes cost anywhere from $.49 to $1.29. My area has the Huggies Wipes for $3.29, so with both coupons, my wipes cost me $.79 per box. Now that's a whole lot better than $3 or more $s a box, right?

If you have access to a printer, here's how to make this deal even better. Some folks will find a $1.50/1 Huggies Diaper Product coupon to print when they go to Coupons.com. Some WAGS will let you use this coupon to purchase Huggies Wipes(if they see Wipes as a 'Diaper Product').
Pairing this $1.50 Coupon with the In-Store Coupon for $2 off(and a low reg. retail price point) will get you Wipes for FREE with overage or "just" FREE.

And if your local WAGS has been cleaned out of Huggies Wipes because of the popularity of this coupon pairing, then for goodness sakes, get a Raincheck! The In-Store Coupon is valid until 8/29/09, so you still have time for a new shipment of Wipes to hit your store.

And if you bought the Vitamin Shampoo last week at WAGS, and have a $4 Register Reward to roll AND your area received a $5/any 3 Listerine/Reach products Coupon either in the recent Coupon Insert OR the Coupon Insert from a May Insert with a $5/3 WYB 1Listerine/1Reach Floss/1 Reach Toothbrush Coupon, you can get three dental products for FREE. The Listerine 500ml, Reach Ultra Floss & 2 kinds of Reach Toothbrushes are on sale for $3 each this week. Buy 3 of these products, according to which coupon you have. $9-$5 Coupon=$4. Pay the OOP with your $4 Register Rewards from last week(plus tax if applicable).
You will receive a $6 Register Reward for your purchase.
Free stuff & $6 more to spend later.
Life is good.....

Walgreen's Convoluted Scenario, Spend $6.19 Get $8.50RRs & Lots of STUFF

So I am up Waaaaaaay too late this evening, er....morning. Can't shut the mind off for some reason, so why not give it a work out, right?

I was just perusing the upcoming WAGS RR deals for Sunday....
  • Gum Toothbrush (2 pack) $3.49, use $1 coupon (6/21 RP) and get back $3.49 RR = $1 profit
  • Suave Deodorant (2.6 or 6 oz) 25% off sale so $1.41 each ($1.89 regular price), buy 4 and get back $2 RR, buy 6 and get back $6 RR or buy 8 and get back $10 RR. Buy six and use six $0.50 coupons (5/17 RP) = $5.46 and get back $6 RR = $0.54 profit. Buy eight and use eight $0.50 coupons (5/17 RP) = $7.28 and get back $10 RR = $2.72 profit
  • Vitamin Sham/Cond (13 oz) $3.99, get back $3.99 RR = FREE *Look for bottles with a Try Me Free rebate on them = $3.99 profit
  • Spend $10, get back $5 RR. Includes Cheez Its (7.5 or 9oz) $2, Keebler Cookies (11.5 or 15 oz) $2, Cheez Its (4.5 oz) or Keebler Cookies (5.25 - 6 oz) $1, Rice Krispies Treats $2, Pop Tarts $2, Club Crackers/Sandies Pecan Shortbread $2.50, Fiber Plus Bars $2.50, Nutri-Grain Bars $2.50 and Special K Protein Bars or Shakes $5
Here is what I came up with for a scenario....try to stay with me, it's long.lol Follow the steps, don't skip any!

You will need 3 $1/1Gum Qs, 6 $1/2 Suave Deo Qs, 2 $1/2 PopTart Qs. (You can use 12 $.50/1 Suave Deo Qs but you'll need to buy a cheap filler 2 times in this scenario.)

*Buy the Gum Toothbrush for $3.49, use a $1/1 Q & Pay $2.49OOP, Get a $3.49RR(this will probably print as a $3.50RR)

*Buy a Vitamin Poo for $3.99, use the $3.50RR & Pay $.49OOP, Get a $3.99RR(this will probably print as a $4RR).

*Buy 6 Suave Deos for $8.46-3x$1/2Qs=$5.46, use $4RR & Pay $1.46OOP, Get a $6RR.

*Buy 1 Gum Tbrush & 1 Vitamin Poo for $7.48, use $1/1Gum Q=$6.48, use $6RR & Pay $.48OOP, Get a $4RR & a $3.50RR.

*Buy 8 Suave Deos for $11.28, use 3 $1/2Qs(11.28-3=$8.28), use both $4RR & $3.50RR & Pay $.78OOP, Get a $10RR.

*Buy 1 Gum Tbrush, 5 Pop Tarts($3.49+$10=13.49), use 2x $1/2 PTarts Q & $1/1 Gum Q(13.49-3=$10.49), use $10RR & Pay $.49OOP, Get $8.50RRs(3.50 & 5)

You now have....
14 Suave Deos
3 Gum Toothbrushes
2 Vitamin Poo
5 boxes Pop Tarts
That's $48.19 worth of products.
$8.50 in RRs($3.50/$5)
And you've spent $6.19 not including state sales tax & used 11 Qs.

Not exactly free(unless you count the RRs you now have)but pretty good.

What will you do with 14 Deodorants?
Hey, that's YOUR problem!lol

So can you come up with a better scenario? Let me know!

Rolling RRs at WAGS this Week....Drama follows me!

I had about $119 in RRs expiring on 6/3 & 6/6 so I had to head to WAGS on Monday.
Now this week the deals are pretty thin for rolling RRs, so I went to roll some but also to just burn RRs too on things for the kids and me.

I went to the store that's a bit of a ride as it was a nice day for a drive and I hadn't been there in awhile. That store also usually has better clearance stuff and sales items don't get cleared off of the shelves....the good stuff tends to disappear on Sunday at the other store closer to my house.

I did 2 Transactions at the 1st store....

#1 Transaction
Revlon Hair Dryer $12.99 (Suppose to be $19.99 but rang up $12.99)
2x Aquafresh Toothpaste on sale $.99 w/Wags Ad Q=$1.98
Mtn. Dew Lip Balm clearanced $.50
Ecotrin on sale $2.00
3x Duracell Batteries on sale $2.99 w/Wags Ad Q=$8.97

$29.09-$27.50=$1.59 OOP put on GiftCard
Value of Items $60.36
RRs Received
Ecotrin $2, and NO $10 for the Hair Dryer!

So we go back and forth with the Cashier, then the Manager, then another Manager. It rang up $12.99, but the ad says it was suppose to ring up $19.99 and give a $10RR. They were thoroughly confused! In the end they refused to give it to me for $12.99 AND give me a $10 RR, but they would reduce the price to $9.99 for the Dryer. I know I got screwed on this deal but I took the $9.99 price deal, so I got a $3.18 refund on the $12.99+tax price I paid above. I know I should have fought harder or just told them forget it and refund it all but I just was tired of the DRAMA that always seems to come with at leat 1 transaction at WAGS.
Subtract my $1.59 payment from my $3.18 refund and my OOP for this transaction was Negative $1.59. I GOT PAID $1.59 to buy this stuff....or something like that.

#2 Transaction

I have to stop doing such larger transactions. Every time I do, the register won't take enough RRs in payment to get my total low enough. I should have been able to use another $1RR to get my total down to $2.56($2.15 of that $3.56 was tax so I couldn't get it lower than $2.56). I had enough items to let me use another few RRs/or Manu. Qs in my payment. I'll try to stick to smaller Transactions after today.

Off to my usual store for more transactions and MORE DRAMA!ACK!!

Transaction #3
Hair Dryer $12.99

RRs Received-$2 Ecotrin & again NO $10 RR for the Hair Dryer!!!

So here we go again......round and round with the Cashier, then the Asst. Manager(Kevin who's a cutie pie!) and then the Manager on Duty. First they try to tell me I had the wrong item....NOPE!lol Then they tried the old "the RR won't print because I used coupons" routine, until I pointed out it printed the Ecotrin RR....lolol Then they grilled me on what RRs I had used(figuring they'd explain it away with me using a Revlon RR to pay, so it wouldn't print a Revlon RR....but I had written down exactly what company each RR was from and surprise, surprise-No Revlon!

Then the 2 Managers disappear into the back for about 10 mins. leaving me just cooling my heels. I guess they were calling someone to find out what to do. I was all hyped up this time and wasn't leaving there without my RR AND the $12.99 price! Why should I pay the higher price if they have 2 conflicting prices/deals going on the same item, right?

Finally, Kevin, the Asst. Manager came back with my receipt, my hair dryer and a $10 RR. I got my RR and the lower price w/out a fight...yay! I noticed they had taken down all the signage on the hair dryers the next time I went down that aisle.lol I wonder what's going to happen the next time someone tries to buy one of the hair dryers.....

The cashier at the 2nd store was the same one who I had rung me out back when the Colgate Visible White Toothpaste RR was rolling a couple of Saturdays ago. We chatted up for a bit today. She's a coupon hound like us & was commiserating with me on how bad the deals were this week.lol I still had about 8 Ecotrin Qs left but I was tired of going through and using them(yes, I was tired of making free money!lol) plus I wasn't coming back while the Ecotrin was giving RRs, so I offered them to her to use. Hey, it's never a bad idea to treat the cashier nice, right? It might help me out at some point in future hounding. ;-))

So I am done with Wags until mid to late next week when I have $50.50 in RRs expiring.
I sure hope they have some better things to roll these RRs into then.

All Roads Lead to Walgreen's...at least they did today

I have been going stir-crazy being grounded at home! My car is STILL in the shop thanks to my daughter's accident with the awning support pole at CVS the end of April.

We turned in the rental car early as it was just getting ridiculously expensive to keep it, so I've been without wheels for about a week now.

I finally bribed #1 son to drive me to WAGS today because I had RRs expiring on the 21st and Dr. Scholl's Qs to use before the month ends and we just can't have that now, can we?lolol

I had printed out some of the $5/25 coupon good today and tomorrow at WAGS but only used one. Why pay OOP actual CASH for things when I have all these lovely little RRs to spend! So after using 1 of the coupons I had printed off, I gave them to people in line around me. One woman I gave a Q to broke her $50+ order up so she could go back through the line to use another Q.....now THAT woman has potential to be a great Hound!LOLOL

Here's how it went.....

No RRs used-so I could use that $5/25 Coupon. I don't know....I did get back more in RRs than I spent but still, I had to spend MONEY.

Received $10 Dr. Scholl's, $4 Bandaids, $2.50 Bayer, $4.50 Colgate, $1 Bic, $1 Skintimate, $5 Right Guard=$28RRs

Yes, I actually spent real money at Wags today! Imagine that....lolol

**So I paid and the cashier hands me the receipt and NONE of the EIGHT Register Rewards I was suppose to get, PRINTS! EEEEK!!!
After my heart started beating again I told her to call the manager 'cuz I was NOT leaving without my RRs!lol
Long story short, the CAT machine was broken. They KNEW it was broken first thing that morning and had put in calls to the company, etc. to try to get it fixed and they couldn't and they were STILL using that REGISTER all day to ring people up!! So, if you were an unaware shopper, you never even knew you were getting ripped off when you bought a RR generating item in that store!
Unreal.....that they would continue to ring customers out and not use a different register. They have FIVE registers at this store! Man, that got me hot.lol
So the manager rerang everything up at another register and all 8 RRs printed like they should have the first time. So for the rest of my transactions I had to go to the photo center to checkout. Luckily, my fav. cashier Leticia was working at the photo center and she didn't mind letting me check out there. Sometimes the photo person doesn't want to ring you out if you don't have photo/ink stuff to buy too. I have GOT to write a letter to that store and give Leticia some Kudos! ;-))
Then it was off to roll a stack of RRs before they expired. Alot of them were $4.50RRs from the Colgate last week, so I couldn't buy the Visible White until I used those up.

These Insoles are Made for Walking! 99% Savings at WAGS!

The Dr. Scholl's Qs I ordered came on friday. I found myself out & about today near a Walgreens and made a quick run into the store to use some Qs.

I had gone over to the food aisles looking for those boxes of Large Lipton Tea Bags(the ones for making iced tea by the pitcher) I saw the other day that they were on clearance for .80¢ a box. This store had none! I figured the .87¢ peanut butter would be long gone...

But as I wandered back to get more insoles to buy, I went down the back end of the 'hardware' aisle and they had carts of food products lined up down the middle of the aisle. I don't know if they were marking them all down for clearance of just rearranging the food shelves and needed some stuff out of there temporarily so they had space to work BUT.....I found the boxes of Tea Bags in a cart there. So I priced checked them and they were still on clearance for .80¢....yes!!! We drink alot of fresh brewed iced tea in this house. Those boxes go for $3.00+ regular retail so .80¢ is a wonderful price!

Which leads me to the next couple of transactions......

Trust me, I found out the hard way, by trying to buy a Contour AFTER the 1st week. It rang up regular price, twice!lol**

Walgreen's-cheap Peanut Butter, Fish Oil & Beans-95% Savings

Stopped by WAGS today to roll some RRs.
**Be careful this week if you are rolling the $4.50 Colgate Sensitive Toothpaste RRs from last week. Don't use this RR to pay in a transaction buying the Colgate Max Fresh/White Toothbrush or Toothpaste, or you won't get your Max White/Fresh RR. I mention this because it almost tripped me up today!

Let me just give a disclaimer here for all my Compact following friends, before you see the photo below. There are sinful Paper Towels in the photo. Now, I don't do paper towels in any way shape or form, since my sick old dog passed away last May. I hate paper towels, I always have since my mom first bought them in about 1973. But I am married to a human being who thinks Mighty Highly of them & grew up using them. He doesn't care if he's destroying the planet when he needs to use a paper towel.

He also pays for things around here, as he is the gainfully employed one and he is very good to me. So I let him have his few indulgences. My only request is that I buy the paper towels & not him.
He is a typical man.....you need an item, you go into the nearest place that sells item and you buy it. You don't even look at the price, you don't find one that is less expensive if there is a choice and good lord!, you DON'T USE COUPONS!
So, if paper towels are coming into this house, they are coming in through MY FRUGAL, COUPON USING, CHEAP SELF FILTER! I get em but I get em cheap. I'm not happy about it but I do what I gotta do. 'Nuff said.

With that, here's the haul from this afternoon......
