The horrors.....
So I bought some favorites of my family.
The Kix and Cocoa Puffs are on sale this week at Shop-rite too for $2.49 a box!
And even if they aren't on sale we have to have our Cheerios.  I had coupons and the gift card to cover the cost of all so I am not very broken up about paying regular price on the Cheerios.lol
The coupons & sale prices on some brought my costs down to $2.48 a box, before applying the gift card...and I had half the gift card left to get other items on my list.

Free cereal for my family and 5 bonus BoxTops for Education for my selected school and $.55 donated to the Shop-Rite Partners in Caring Program.

Shop-Rite Shopping 9/25/09....Free Shampoo & Facial Tissue + MORE

Shop-Rite had a great price on Ground Beef and Boneless Pork Chops this week so it was worth it for me to take the drive there.  They also had DeCecco Orricchette Pasta on sale for 3/$5.00.  Orricchette is very hard to find locally and it's quite pricey if you can find it or if you buy it online.  And there is NOTHING that goes with a Rustic Pork Ragu better than Orricchette. ;-)

Add in that they also had a Catalina Deal....Buy 2 Herbal Essence Shampoo &/or Conditioner for $2.49 ea. in one transaction and get a $3 OYNO Catalina Coupon.  Pair this with $1/1 Herbal Essence Coupons from the Sunday inserts a few weeks ago and after the first $3.00 spent, you roll the Catalina & 2 Coupons each transaction into a pile of FREE SHAMPOO!

Because of the Catalina Promo, I had to do lots of little transactions(I did 4 to get 6 free bottles of 'poo) but I've grouped it all into one for this post.  Except for the Cantaloupes, my refrigerated items aren't pictured.

Sigh.
But when I went over to get 2 more Bottles of it for Transaction #2 I saw that a lot of the Excedrin boxes that were the size on sale for $2.99(that gave the $4 OYNO Cat Q) had $1/1 Qs right on the boxes!!!
So if I had wanted to(and you know I would have if daughter wasn't with me & rolling her eyes at me with teenage disgust), I could have gotten as many FREE BOXES OF EXCEDRIN until I ran out of boxes with the $1 Q on them.lolol

Transaction #6....7....oh, who knows!
1 Flat of Blueberries @ $6.99
I used my $4OYNO Cat. and paid $2.99OOP for 6 Pints of fresh Blueberries.
Oh.
Yes.
Yum!

Total Figures for this Trip to Shop-Rite.....

Value of Items Bought $155.43
Sales and Discounts from Store Sales Ad $37.95
Coupons Used $93.47
Cash OOP $24.01
Savings of 84.5%

It's funny that both grocery store trips this week, Shop-Rite & Weis, my Savings % was 84.50 at each.
Since we bought 12 Boxes of Excedrin totaled, we spent $3.98 total for them all(the cost to get the 1st $4 OYNO Cat). Each box cost me .33¢. These were the 50 count boxes that go for $5.49 regularly.
Seriously.
Love.
It.

I spent a total of $58.98 OOP this week at the grocery stores(I'm not counting KMart Double Q Trips this week). In these 2 trips, I got everything I needed for this week's meals that I didn't have at the start of the week(namely the produce/fruit), plus enough tortillas and chicken to do a TON of homemade Burritos for the freezer(approx. 38), milk for all that cereal I got at Weis for breakfasts, and a big honking Pork Picnic to make more BBQ...enough for 3-4 more meals of that. We had most of the chicken legs & thighs I bought for tonight's grilled chicken. I reserved 3 leg/thigh combos to pick the meat off the bones to add to the boneless breat meat I also got for the chicken enchiladas and chicken wing pizza(2 meals for next week) and the burritos I'll fill with chicken(some will be filled with beef that's in the freezer). I know I wanted to keep this week's grocery bill to $20 or so, but for $59 I finished off the 7 meals for this week AND got the fixings for 12 or more meals or partial meals for next week and beyond, got alot of fruit, milk, cereal, lots of lemonade, needed school supplies and enough pain reliever that I won't even mind the annoying loud friends of #2 son who live in our pool in the summer.

I'll try to be good next week.
Really....I will! 8-P
I am designating next week as my "Stay Out Of The Grocery Store Week" for July.
How wants to come and hide my keys?lol

I was .88¢ short of the $120 needed to get the $40 in Catalinas for the K/U/GM Deal after 2 trips, so I sent daughter in to buy 2 more BBQ Sauces for Zero out of pocket, so my grand total OOP for the K/U/GM items was $63.38.
Add the $44 of FREE $$ Cats I still have for buying the K/U/GM things, and I am technically OOP only $19.38 for that $120 of product!

I misread the Fiber One deal and bought 3 Chewy Bars but they didn't count toward the 4 items to get the free Chewy Bars, so I didn't get the free Chewy Bars.argh I might have to return the 1 Chewy Bars that I didn't have a coupon for.....the one I thought would be free.
Lesson to self.....read the fine print!
And the Coconut was rotten.....lesson to daughter, don't buy fresh coconuts in PA.

The best deals were the free items.....Marcal Tissues, Tuna Fish, Kraft BBQ Sauce. Also very good deals were the Santa Cruz Lemonade(.39¢), the A-1 Steak Sauce(.99¢), 5lb. sugar(.99¢), Kool-Aid(.10¢ea.),Cheerios($1.50 for a BIG box), Kraft Mac/Cheese(.64.5¢), & all that FREE MEAT! ;-)) The best "Get Meat when you buy" deals were pairing the meat Q with buying 2 BBQ Sauce, since the Qs I had for the Sauce made both the Meat and the Sauce FREE! Gotta love that.....

Be sure to get to Shop-Rite this week and pair your coupons with the sale prices to get some awesome deals!

I found a Shop-Rite & I got some deals!

When I was newly married back in the early 1980's, my hubby & I lived in northeastern New Jersey. My grocery store of choice back then was Shop-Rite. I loved me some Shop-Rite! ;-)

Eventually we bought our 1st home & moved to Pennsylvania. The 2nd closest grocery store to our house was still a Shop-Rite over the border in NJ. This was a 45 min. trip each way to the store but I gladly chose it over the 30 min. trip to the closer Grand Union store.

8+ years ago we moved again to a different location in PA with NO Shop-Rite. They did open a Shop-Rite here, in an old abandoned Hechinger's Lumber/Hardware Store. It was open all of 9 months before the company pulled out of the area and closed this extensively remodeled store. It was hardly open long enough to find out if this location would make or loose money! I've been lamenting the demise of Shop-Rite here for the last 6 yrs.

After seeing someone online post about yet another good deal at their Shop-Rite store, I went to the company website and started poking around. I discovered that there IS a Shop-Rite location 'sort of' near me! Well, it's 30 miles each way, so no further than what I use to have to drive to get to the one where we use to live in PA.

I had some time, a nice day & a good weekly sales ad, so I went to find the Shop-Rite the end of last week.
With my trusty coupon binder in hand, I went to sniff out the deals.
Here is what I found.....it was done in 3 transactions & only part of the goodies from this shopping trip are pictured.

5x Joint Juice Water on sale @$2.50=$12.50
2x Wesson Veg. Oil on sale @$2.49=$4.98
1x Large Eggs on sale @$.98 **Not pictured
1x Tropicana OJ 64 oz. on sale @$2.88 **Not pictured
1x Pork Shoulder Picnic $.99lb.=$9.24 **Not pictured

3x Perdue Buffalo Bites @$1.99=$5.97
12x Aqua-Fresh Toothpaste on sale @$.99=$11.88
3x Colgate Toothbrushes on sale @$.99=$2.97
13x Spray n'Wash on sale @$1.64=$21.32
2x Spray n'Wash Stick on sale @$2.00=$4.00
Subtotal $104.58
Tax $2.41
Coupons
5x Joint Juice Water on sale @$2.00=$10.00
14x Perdue Cutlets/Strips @$1.00=$14.00
3x Perdue Buffalo Bites @$1.00=$3.00
12x Aqua-Fresh Toothpaste on sale @$1.00=$12.00
3x Colgate Toothbrushes on sale @$1.00=$3.00
15x Spray n'Wash on sale @$.50 doubled=$15.00
2x $5 Catalina for buying 5 Spray n'Wash=$10.00
Coupon Total $67.00

$106.99-$67.00=$39.99 OOP
And I have a $5 Catalina OYNO to spend.
I got some amazing deals. The Wesson Oil was Gallon sized, the Pork Shoulder was a great price at .99¢ lb., the Toothbrushes and Toothpaste Tubes were free w/coupons, the Joint Juice was .50¢ per 4-pack w/coupons. The Perdue chicken-regularly $3.99 a package was half-price and with my $1 coupons, it came out to .99¢ a package! The Buffalo Bites even had $1 Peelies on the packages. I ONLY bought 17 Chix because I didn't have room in the freezer for more.lol
The best was the Spray n'Wash deal. It was 1/2 price at $1.64 for the Spray Bottles or $2 for the Stain Sticks. I had .50¢ coupons that doubled to $1, so the first 5 cost me .64¢ each. With each 5 you bought, you got a $5CAT good OYNO. So I bought 5 more, used 5 more coupons, making my total $3.20 and used the $5 CAT, so had overage of $1.80 per 5 bottles and got another $5CAT.
I could only use 15 coupons though as they ran out of Spray n'Wash....rats! I got a raincheck so I can go back next week, use my coupons and get it for better than free with the $5 CAT I have left. I figured out that the 15 bottles I bought cost me $10.32+tax after coupons. I used 2 $5 CATs, so basically I paid .32¢ + tax for 15 bottles of Spray n'Wash. And the last 4 bottles(couldn't get a raincheck for more than 4) with cost me -$2.44 after I use my last $5 CAT.
Value of Items purchased....$198.57
Out of Pocket.........................$39.99
Savings......................................80%
I can say, I STILL loves me some Shop-Rite!lol
