This Week on the Dining Table

The "It's Greek to Me" Edition.....

On one of our Wednesday appointment days earlier this month we went to "Yeero Yeero", the only Greek family owned restaurant we've found here.  After figuring out where the front door was(which was far from obvious-it was in the back)the interior was very grand if overpowering visually.  I think the building was originally a small bank which would make sense if you ever saw this place.  Anyway, we just got Gyros and they were pretty good.  Hubs wants to go back another time and try their Dolmades(stuffed grape leaves)as he loves those.  I am not a fan.  I'm all about a good Greek Salad and I make a wonderful Moussaka.  A Greek restaurant in PA we went to had a Greek hamburger/cheeseburger but this place doesn't do one.  More's the pity.

Onward to the meal planning!

This is what was planned.......
1. Sunday--Chicken Parm, Roasted Asparagus
2. Monday--Lemon Pepper Chicken w/Zucchini in Tomato Sauce, Rice
3. Tuesday--Tacos or Taco Salad
4. Wednesday--Chicken Teriyaki Stir-Fry w/Veggies, Rice
5. Thursday--Dental Work so ??
6.  Friday--Leftovers
7. Saturday--Leftovers

And here's what actually happened........
1. Sunday--Chicken Parm, Roasted Asparagus
2. Monday--Lemon Pepper Chicken w/Zucchini in Tomato Sauce, Rice
3. Tuesday--Chicken Teriyaki Stir-Fry w/Veggies, Rice
4. Wednesday--Leftovers(more Stir-Fry for me)
5. Thursday--Jello Du Jour and a Frosty
6.  Friday--Cheeseburger
7. Saturday--Tacos using leftover Ground Beef
More dental work on Thursday so Hubs fended for himself.  He also made the tacos on Saturday.
Now that my wound had closed up I am having to deal with a bum knee that keeps me from walking around and doing much. ugh

What got put into the freezer last week....
*  5 bags/boxes of frozen Veggies
*  2 packs of hot dogs
*  2.5 lbs. of Ground Beef

What got taken out of the freezer and used...
*  3 Chicken thighs
*  1 Chicken Parm box
*  1 bag of Teriyaki Chicken
*  1 bag of Stir-Fry Veggies

Last week  and we both hit Kroger and Walmart on Wednesday and spent a total of $126.02.
This brings our food/toiletries/paper goods Total to $473.79 for March so far.

There are 4 shopping days left in March but I won't be shopping anymore this month.

I've earned $91.71 on Ibotta in March.
I've earned $2.96 on Checkout51 in March.
I've earned $34.50 on Coupons dotcom in March.
I've earned 30,223 points from shopping on Fetch in March.
I earned 691 points from food shopping on Shop Kick in March.
I've earned 517 SB from food shopping on Swag Bucks in March.

That's $129.17 in rebates(not counting the Shop Kick/Swag Bucks/Fetch)on $473.79 in grocery spending so in reality it's $344.62 in food spending after the 3 rebate apps I count.

My savings percentage for the last week was 32.35% and the monthly savings total for March comes in at 34.90% so far.

Leftovers going into this week.....some cabbage, corned beef, 1 chicken thighs, zucchini, rice.  Hubs will be cobbling together meals this week as I am indisposed.  We have lots in the freezer if he choses to use it.

Here is this week's "food plan".....
1. Sunday--Cheese Ravioli, Caesar Salad
2. Monday--Salmon, Veggies TBD
3. Tuesday--?
4. Wednesday--?
5. Thursday--?
6.  Friday--?
7. Saturday--?

What do I need to buy to fix everything on this menu?  Well I didn't make a menu as I am unable to cook right now.  Hubs will make as he can and/or get take-out.

What is getting fixed and served at your house this week?

Was last week's plan successful, did you go off plan or did you not even plan what was going to be eaten last week?

Any deals on food at your stores this week?

  3. My spending for March is high, but I'm stocked up on corned beef for the year. Since it comes vacuum sealed, I can put the whole package into the freezer.

  5. I made a lot of pizza last night and now need to use stuff from the freezer. Found a buttload of Beyond and Impossible meat on clearance at Kroger today which required some freezer rearranging. It was $2.80 and $2.92 so I bought it all!
