I just get so tired of trolly comments left on my blog sometimes. Well except that unhinged person who keeps telling us boomers we should all DIE now!.....that one is HIL-arious!!
These annoying anonymous comments are usually about what we eat(judge much?!)and in extension troll me about my weight.
I don't see other overweight frugal bloggers getting the same level of these nasty comments. I guess I am "special".
Yay me!!
Yes I am fat by any medical standards and I know that, so stop telling me my life is being lived all wrong unless you have the magic bullet that will make me healthy and thin.
I have complex medical issues(which give me constant chronic pain) and food allergies(since I was 10 days old)and issues surrounding exercising(that you will never understand)but I am doing the best I can as are most people who don't live up to your standards(because I bet none of us can live up to you and your standards oh perfect one).
How much I weigh is none of your god damned business anyway!
You don't KNOW me because of this blog you read even though you think you do.
You're not here to see what I actually put in my mouth, are you?
You were not elected the food police were you?? If you were please produce a copy of your license to be on that elite squad.
What gives you the right to tell me what I should and should not be eating?
Just because I make a menu for our family of 3 that includes items you feel I shouldn't be eating, maybe I am NOT eating those items? Maybe I cook them for the other folks eating here?
And if you actually READ these menu plans you will see that I DO eat vegetables, grilled/smoked fish and meats and SALADS and here's a newsflash just for you--my favorite salad dressing is olive oil and a nice balsamic vinegar not blue cheese dressing or something mayonnaise-y like ranch.
I suspect this is the same person who has made multiple deleted comments about how I should not be eating mayo, sour cream, etc. who thinks no one should use those items(or any fats for that matter)and that the video I posted about a Georgia Cracker Salad was nasty. Yah, I thought that salad was nasty too but didn't feel the need to tell the world it was like you did two times! Oh sorry, I deleted all those comments because you left them under Anonymous. Sucks to be perfect you, doesn't it?
Hey, you are welcomed to your own opinions but you are NOT the judge of any person in this world on what they like/what they eat and we all, the rest of the eating world, don't give rat's add what YOU think of us!
So go back into your sad little corner of the world and eat your kale and other weeds(unseasoned and undressed of course)and your only grilled fake or real meat products.
You are a sad person who must have a miserable life if you can only get your jollies oppressing fat people, one of the last "groups" that it seems acceptable to torment now that any racial group, sexual orientation, etc. are off the table.
So dear actual readers, how do I solve this conundrum? If I go the route of making the blog private that shuts off not only the trolls but any real reader who isn't here already. If I go the "You have to have a Google account" to comment then all my lovely non-Google account readers(who btw leave their names in their anonymous comments)can't comment.
If I do nothing I still have to see these crappy worthless comments, these holy than thou trolls leave before I send them off to Spamland.
Maybe I'll just stop talking about what we eat(menus)and what I spend at the grocery stores?
I am all ears(to real readers, not the trolls)................

What a sad and pathetic (and ignorant) rant.
ReplyDeleteDoes that count as exercise. You judge people all over the place. A little judgment (.that’s clearly true despite you thousand excuses) May get you moving.
But feel free to convince yourself that you are “entitled” to be obese and everyone else is the problem. Righttttt.
Get a life troll. You are not welcome here. Better start looking in the mirror for where to start improvements.
DeleteWhy don't you just go away. You are just a miserable person, off with you.
DeleteWe could join you and your siblings and friends together and still not have enough intelligence for you to be a called a half-wit. How sad when brothers and sisters have kids together and produce stupid offspring like this idiot. Perhaps you should talk to your parents about the lack of anything intelligent in your cranium. Stop hiding behind the anonymous name, you chicken.
DeleteSondra
You are a real jerk, I know Slugs well and you have no idea. If I could find you I would hit you with a donut.
DeleteLearn to punctuate, Troll.
DeleteHow brave you are hiding behind anonymous name be brave and put your name there or just get lost
DeleteMeh, people like that are to be avoided like the plague they are. But here's a confession: I bet I would enjoy you publishing those comments and letting your loyal readers take a swing at them.
ReplyDeletePlease do not stop posting your meal plans--I use it for inspiration. Also, had you been private, I never would have found you--you came up during a random home economics related search, and then led me to all the other great blogs on your sidebar.
:-P on judgmental people who only strive to annoy-shock-outrage
ReplyDeleteI do like your weekly menu post/ helps me to do mine ;-)
I enjoy your shopping escapades/find them entertaining & helpful
I DO judge you by your generous spirit in that you share (giveaways) with others and you support your food bank with your creative shopping
Judge not lest you be judged. Perfect way to live ones life.
joy in marengo
Could you post the comments and we can all gang up on them? Got to I be worse because people are home and they are going crazy.
ReplyDeleteI so agree.
DeleteNailed it! We can have some fun responding.
DeleteJen G.
If you don't like this blog anonymous, don't read it. Then you won't have to get your panties all twisted up your butt and annoy those of us who enjoy reading it.
DeleteOh Sluggy, I am so sorry you are being “trolled”, including the first post today. Anybody who says nasty stuff and doesn’t put their name on it is a coward, plain and simple.
ReplyDeleteThe Boomers die one - that is almost pitiable - that presumably young person must be SO terrified of Covid, and must not be very bright either. A lot of older people dying does not make him or her any safer.
Please don’t feel you have to defend yourself. You don’t, not to your real readers who care about you and read you.
A virtual hug from SMS, a fat Boomer :-)
I wubs you just the way you are, I know it must be annoying, and down right hurtful, but someone is getting joy out of this and I want to hurt them. I can't imagine where I would be right now without your blog and advice and especially your friendship.
ReplyDeletePlease don't change ANYTHING - I look forward to your posts - they are funny and informative and I look forward to them every day. People who have to put down others to make themselves feel better are just sad and need help with their self-esteem.....or they are just an idiot.
ReplyDeleteSue L.
So many trolls everywhere now, all social media etc. Bloody bastards. I've just made it so without a blog or google account you can't comment. So much better for my mental space
ReplyDeleteI vote the delete and move on method. Like children, they'll get tired of not getting a response I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteI think I comment anonymously sometimes because it doesn't always accept my Google info for some reason. I'll admit the Riteaid posts go over my head because we don't live close enough to one for me to go regularly and that seems important. I look forward to the menu posts, especially right now where I'm cooking 100% of our meals (a major shift as restaurants are our hobby entertainment) and easily get in a rut. Even if we don't eat the same way, it gives me a searching point especially on sides. Why are sides so hard? That should be the no brainer part!
Oh, and I'm reasonably healthy and they're going to have the pry the sour cream container outof my cold, dead hands!
What the heck?? I actually read your menus and feel woefully inadequate because I don't serve nearly the variety you do - and isn't variety healthy? I don't know how to get rid of the trolls, but I imagine they are going for the attention so ignoring and deleting is probably the way to go. Good grief.
ReplyDeleteIt's a a conundrom. I really, really wish blogger would have the option for no anon posters even though a few of mine would have to adjust. I did have it on moderaton but it was a pain in the you know what. I've finally left it knowing I'll have to remove our favorite boomer hater (who I'm beginning to wonder is one of my favorite bloggers acting out) and the other trolls. I'm unwilling to go private but I see how some would do so.
ReplyDeleteOh,I just saw the coments about letting them through and having people comment and gang up. i could like that idea as well.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry you have to deal with this. People can be so mean. I know seeing what they write is hard and it hurts. I don’t have an answer for you but know that we all love you and want you to continue your blog.
ReplyDeleteLori R
I'm sorry that you have gotten some nasty comments. The virus seems to have brought out the worst in some people. They seem to get their jollies in trying to hurt someone.
ReplyDeleteThe boomer die is a computer program, and they are getting more sophisticated with algorithms, and can even pick a word form a post to customize the cruel words. If I have an anonymous comment, I first look to see if they inserted a name and then if it is nice and on topic, but if not, off to spam before really reading. Keep being you!
ReplyDeleteI got a comment from the boomer die guy last week. I think that he/she/it must be making the rounds via our blog rolls since many of us having that issue are connected in that way. We have to stick together and slay the trolls, cowards that they are. >:(
DeleteI got a couple too, just hit delete and moved on.
DeleteWell Anonymous, it really says more about you, than the target of your poison. You said little git.
ReplyDeleteMan I hate trolls - I don’t have a blog so I don’t have advice - but I read your blog everyday.
ReplyDeleteMelissa
Sorry I think you could go either route, publish for some interest or just delete. These are my thoughts for why people act this way. People who really feel ok with themselves do not worry about or retaliate against others. There is a negative self esteem in that they are not okay if they are flawed such as overweight, or not pretty enough so they displace this towards others. As hard as it may be this person deserves pity for living such a narrow life. It would sure suck to be them.
ReplyDeleteThe trolls used to hurt me, but no more. I am only disturbed, but no more. I really think I actually know who my troll is. But, I would like a swing at yours. However, that is feeding the trolls. Just ignore them as best you can. I am overweight, too. Yes, fat. I like your blog like it is. Don't publish the trolls. But, if you do, remember, the troll is loving to see the hurt she can cause.
ReplyDeleteSluggy,
ReplyDeleteI seldom comment on your Blog but I value every word you write, even the ones I don't necessarily agree with. You are a kind, articulate, funny lady and you are generous to a fault.
Your menus seem varied and healthy with the occasional treat. And they give your readers a great deal of inspiration.
The anonymous poster should go home; there's a bridge in Norway missing him/her.
These damn trolls need to get a life. I just delete and move on. I'm so over their crap! Keep doing you Sluggy. We don't give a flying fig what those anonymous assh....s think.
ReplyDeleteTrolls are cowards, I get them on my blog and I just delete and never make comment about it. Years ago I had a blog that was quite popular, I used to get heaps of trolls, and it was horrible, really nasty stuff and I would post about it. I ended up deleting my blog because it got so bad. Now I know that troll thrive on any attention so give them none at all. Those of us that read your blog every day love you just the way you are sluggy. You absolutely have inspired me for years to be frugal and to enjoy each day I'm blessed to have. sending you a big hug from downunder ((hugs))
ReplyDeleteI’ll probably never cook more than 2-3 big things per week but I do enjoy your meal plans. No such variety at my house because I’m lazy.
ReplyDeleteI also rarely exercise unless a bee is chasing me. No excuses. Just more of the above laziness. 😁 Trolls would have a field day with my regular life.
Jen G.
I love everything you post, your wit, humor and transparency resonate so much. I strive to be more like you. Keep deleting. Hopefully the will get tired and move on.
ReplyDeleteLove ya Sluggy ❤.....don't change anything about your blog. Dont let the troll win. Susan R
ReplyDeleteSludgy sorry you have to put up with a troll
ReplyDeleteI am also a boomer and overweight partly due to health issues. As my niece who is becoming a nutricianist would say moderation on all things. The trolls diet probably is not that healthy so they need to pick on others. I hope you just delete them. Gerry T.
First, trolls are just that, a troll. A person who hides behind a computer screen typing to anyone that will respond to their filthy idiotic postings.
ReplyDeleteSecond: Do not give them the satisfaction of responding to them! They are not worth it and quite frankly have probably been trolled themselves.
Third: Troll is probably a little chunk .. probably hasn't seen a gym in quite a while because lets face it, they are sitting there posting just like everyone else . And it takes some time to find a blog and go at it. So they are a low life loser... nuff said.
And fourth: I have never posted but I read. I like your blog. So keep blogging proudly. :)
Rose
I wish i could comment, Sluggy! I’ve tried everything i can think of to no avail! I would tell you that you did an awesome job with the spammer! I would add, “Piss off!”. I love that phrase! If this goes through, finally!, i’ll be back to comment more often!
ReplyDeleteI just hate that people act like that. I can’t imagine how they get joy or satisfaction from being so miserable and rude. I post anonymously and then add my name bc that’s the only way that my phone lets me. Otherwise I hit publish and my comments disappear into cyber space. I enjoy reading and commenting on your blog and a few others, there’s always something to be learned from others. Im sorry that people suck. JoAnn
ReplyDeleteLike Rose, I've never posted but I read. I really enjoy your blog. You always make me smile. Ignore the trolls. Keep on blogging! Celie.
ReplyDeleteGo ahead and post them. We’ll give them a piece of our minds for you. Asshats!
ReplyDeleteTebble
I've commented a couple of times, I do leave my first name, though. I don't know the solution to your issue, but I wanted to say that I LOVE your attitude and sense of humor. If I end up locked out, I've really enjoyed my time here with you. Tina
ReplyDeleteSluggy, I enjoy reading your blog. Keep on posting about food, menus, spending, etc. Please don't change a thing. You inspires me to be frugal and wise.
ReplyDeleteHugs from Bluebells.
Oh those trolls! At first, they upset me every time I got one of those 'why don't you just die' messages. I'm getting good at deleting them.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first me my late husband, I told him that the only question that had to be answered with a number was my phone number. Weight, bank balance, social security number and even age was off limits!
I haven't got the food comments but I have got the Boomers are the scum of the earth one several times _ that’s why I now moderate all comments and just delete the irrelevant ones.
ReplyDelete"and Sluggy hit that one OUTTA THE PARK!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's going....going....going.... AND IT'S GONEEEE!!!"
(Hopefully that Troll is properly chased off!!!)
You are a beautiful person, don't you forget it!!! We love you Sluggy!!!
IT's like the modern day bullying or Mean Girls. They pick at you until they find that one thing they can upset you. They seem to be out in force right now. With a lot of people at home and one of the only outlets they have is the internet. It is disgusting.
ReplyDeleteIf they were bothered by something you wrote why not just move along. I read a lot of blogs and I don't agree with everything that is written. What is the purpose of hurting their feelings? Are they just trying to get a rise out you? Piss off.
Sluggy I love entire blog and you are very generous person. So much information you give your readers. Ignore the trolls I think we have already given them to much space today. delete trolls. Joyce pa
ReplyDeleteTrolls are sad people. They don’t feel good about themselves unless they are putting others down. Wouldn’t it be nice if they could flip that negative energy into positive energy, and actually lift someone up?? You keep being you! 🥰
ReplyDeleteThis whole thing is so disheartening. Your blog is so fun, so full of personality, super interesting, and none of your normal readers (who aren't evil jerks) would have you change a thing!
ReplyDeleteThe reality that you're having to consider writing differently because a horrible awful person (or people, because lets be real, there are a lot of sucky people out there) is ruining blogging, or at least making it difficult for you is awful.
I wish I had a constructive comment on how to deal with these cowardly, cruel, brainless attacks. If nothing else, we really like you Sluggy! You're awesome!!!
Fuck em Sluggy. Anna (in France)
ReplyDeleteWhat she said ^^^
DeleteYour response to the Troll was brilliant!
I too get the "boomers must die" all the time and just delete/report as spam. But, what a pain for your to have to deal with more than that and more personal type attacks. I would say just keep deleting. These pathetic excuses for humans probably are hoping you leave it posted and for your readers to comment. Then they are getting the attention they want.
ReplyDeleteI dont read comments but i love your blog. Cannot give you suggestions for creeps. You give good advice and good menus. I used to love the mom in Ct but did not like the format she changed to. Do what you have to if this is getting to you. Better than getting sick.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to your meal plans! You’ve inspired me many times to switch mine around, keep it interesting.
ReplyDeleteSluggy:
ReplyDeleteI read your blog every day that it's up! I'm sorry that some inconsiderate jackass feels entitled to tell you what to do with your life. The nerve of some people! Please keep posting!!!
The last time I checked, Jesus was the only perfect human. Sluggy, I am fat too. Oh well. My husband loves me, my kids love me. I don't care if some random stranger doesn't. I will eat what I want. The only one who has the right to tell me not to eat something is my doctor because her I pay her too.
ReplyDeleteMean people suck! Sorry you are being attacked on your own blog. What makes people think they can say vicious mean things to people they don't even know. Is there a way you can block the people who leave nasty comments but are to chicken s... to leave their name? Sorry this has happened to you. Just know we love your blog and appreciate you!
ReplyDelete
