I Almost Died! Not Really

Since my Bread Store Outlet is still closed(2 months and counting)I have been reduced to this........

I had to pay full retail price for a loaf of bread at Weis(PMITA)Markets!

I tell ya, it about killed me to do it but we were totally out of sliced bread.
Ok, so it was on sale(kind of)so I saved a WHOLE .30¢ but still.......

I have a feeling my Bread Outlet will be one of the casualties of this pandemic and never reopen. sigh.

I'd bake my own bread but you have to sell your soul to the Devil to get yeast around these parts too!!

What are you having to pay what you consider too much $$ for lately during this crapfest?

  1. Where I live meat is skyrocketing. Ground beef is almost $10 a lbs. We decided to ration meat and add tons of veggies. I was already semi-rationing. I'm more conscious of a good protein/ carb mix to stay full. Veggies have carbs so I go heavier on them. Healthier also. Your post came up while I was at the store. Normally, I dont mess with my phone in the store but o was checking a recipe to ensure I had everything. I got out of line and checked yeast. NONE in the whole store. I had hoped to send you a CARE package. :(

  2. I bought bscb for $27, a pack that usually cost $11. I will never do that again as chicken has come back down and I paid less next time. I think it was $4.79/lb. Then, I paid $1.59/lb. Thankfully, the bread store here, although far away, has bread for $.99/loaf. I think your loaf in $1.29.

  3. I know your post was somewhat in jest, but if I was you, I'd buy the items I need and ignore the price. This won't last forever and what's the point of doing without now, your bread og choice for instance, after so many years preparing for rainy days? What do I consider having to pay too much for? Nothing, though wish the bleach wipes and disinfectants would come back to buy. I'm not thrilled my costs have exploded but I'm happy to have as much variety as we do. I'm not willing to shop multiple times and go multiple places right now. It's what it is.

  4. Right now, eggs. We normally (whatever that is now) buy 5 dozen eggs for less than $9, last time we went to buy them they were over $15.....NOT COOL!!!!

  5. My sister couldn't find yeast in the baking aisle. She went to the ethnic food aisle and somehow found yeast there.

  6. I told DH the same thing when we stopped at Meijer today. He's been buying bread at Aldi, so I absolutely refuse to pay the high grocery store prices (even though we're out of bread too). The Aldi wheat bread tastes better too. He'll have to make an Aldi run tomorrow & we can have pancakes or muffins for breakfast.

  7. I didn't look too close but it seemed frozen fish sticks were a tad expensive.

  8. $5.10 for a container of Lysol Wipes. TP and P towels are outrageous...at least where I shop. There is very little of any of these items on the shelves when I go.

  9. I’ve mentioned before that prices haven’t taken off too bad here. Bscb 1.89, 80/20 gr meat 3.69, small pack of steaks for $5.xx. Lysol has been hard to find but got a big pack for $3.xx. Found hand sanitizer, didn’t even look at the price. Things that are out of stock? New marshmallow sticks for the campfire, mountain pie makers, bikes, pools, any sort of lawn games. JoAnn

  10. Fake meat stuff is still sold out or over priced for the single remaining bag. We go to Aldi once a month to stock up on bread and freeze it.

I bought an above ground pool on Amazon last week. Local stores are closed or sold out of everything but the $4k and above pools.

  11. Wow, I am glad I have a jar of yeast and don't eat meat. My sister gave me a year's supply of hand sanitizer thank goodness. Stay safe and happy Memorial Day!
