Sunday Night Chit-Chat with Carla

It's time for another episode of Sunday Night Chit-Chat, sponsored by CARLA.
Go see her and then post your answers to her Chit-Chat questions.

*****************

* Reading.... I read my new ALL YOU magazine this week.  Took very little time.  Won't be renewing that!lol

* Watching... Later tonight I'll catch the Season Finale of SISTER WIVES.  It's a train wreck I can't help but watch.

* Cooking/Baking... Kielbasa and onions on the cast iron skillet on the stove top.  Too hot to bake here.

* Happy you accomplished... I got out of bed.  Yes, my goals are low today.lol  I did work on future blog posts for later.  And I'm happy we got home from our trip in one piece.

* Looking forward to next week... getting back into my "at home" groove.  1 less teen around is good too.  And going forward with the home improvement plans.

* Thankful for today... That even though we faced some unforeseen financial challenges last week(trip problems and car repairs), that we had the money to take care of things.  And that Hubs actually seemed to relax on our trip.  He works hard and has trouble destressing on vacations.

* Listening to... the dog snore and cars flying down the road next to the house.  Later Hubs will put on some sports thing and I'll be forced to listen to that as background noise.lol

* BONUS QUESTION  What is the WORST movie you've ever seen and couldn't be paid to watch again?... Oh there are SO MANY contenders for that one!lol  As for recent candidates....it has to be "Amelia"  They actually took a woman, Amelia Earhart, who had an amazingly thrilling life and turned it into a 2+ hour snoozefest.  ick.  Full price movie tickets AND a piece of my life I'll never recover.

Sunday Night Chit-Chat....I'm Back!

I am back for CARLA'S Sunday Night Chit-Chat.  Go check out the rules on her site and then join in!

What are you...

Reading?
I am finally almost through "Do-Over!"

It's not a long/hard read but I just had a problem getting into it. The way I've been lately, I would have had problems getting "into" most any book. Once I did get a couple of chapters in, it was easy going.  It's a fun, light read and has a few wisdom-type nuggets in it.  A thumbs up. ;-)

Watching?
I'll be watching "Finding Your Roots" on the local PBS channel tonight.
It's along the lines of the NBC show "Who Do You Think You Are", which follows back the ancestors of famous/notable folks.  The Narrator Henry Louis Gates Jr., if you know who he is, has a well-known agenda which "colors" the show(no pun intended).  Sometimes it works itself seamlessly into the fabric of the show and sometimes it's obviously brought front and center and smacking you in the guilt centers of your sensibilities if you are of the caucasian persuasion.  Sometimes the points he makes are ones that need to be made and sometimes it's the same old crap.  On the surface I enjoy this genealogy show but sometimes the subtext does nothing to enhance it.  That and the fact that I don't agree with some of his politics probably turns me off sometimes too.

Anybody watch this?
What do you think?....I mean, what do you really think??

Listening to?
#2 Son practicing his flute.  It went to the shop for repairs earlier this week and he just got it back on Friday.  He was gone all day today for a Jazz Competition(where he plays bass)so this is the first time he's had to practice again with his flute.  He's got a lesson tomorrow.   Here's what he's working on now....

(PS-That is NOT my son in the video.lol)

Cooking/Baking?
Not today.  Since #2 Son was gone all day we didn't know if he'd want dinner tonight.  I don't like to cook for just Hubs and I.  I guess I'm going to have to learn to just make little meals soon, huh?

Happy you accomplished this week?
Got my new wand scanner so I can get to all these photos I need to digitize!  Wait.....I just realized I made MORE WORK for myself!! ack

Looking forward to next week?
This week is suppose to be super WARM for April.  I'm trying to talk Hubs into turning off the heat.  I might try to get outside and weed the front bed since my sinus meds are starting to take hold finally.  I usually start them in April so that by May when things start throwing pollen all over I am protected.  But everything is a month ahead of schedule in the throwing pollen department but I didn't get my meds a month early.  *sigh*

Thankful for today?
Allergy Meds
Tax Refunds
Having meals made ahead and in the freezer so I didn't have to cook today.
Nicer weather

Chit-Chat....Sunday Night Edition

It's the Sunday Night Chit-Chat!

Here's my favorite blog photo from last week......

There is nothing better than a hot guy.....well, maybe one that can make you laugh too!

What are you........
Reading?
Still got this baby on tap from 2 weeks ago.  I confess I haven't cracked it open since then.  Just not feeling a good read lately...plus no time with all the decluttering I was doing in February.
This week perhaps....

Watching?
At 9pm there is a new episode of Hoarders on TLC...aka the Car Wreck Station because whatever is on is weird/sad/terrible/freakish but you just can't look away.
I guarantee that at some point this coming week I'll be decluttering again, due mostly to having watched this car wreck show.

Listening to?
A little swing and ska music.
Currently liking and tapping my toes to this....

In a lot of ways I feel I was born in the wrong time.

Cooking/Baking?
No baking here.  I cooked 5 meals last week.  We had leftovers one night and the guys had fast food the other night. Nothing I haven't made before.  I haven't felt like making new stuff, because, well.....it takes effort.

Happy you accomplished this week?
The Week #4 Decluttering Challenge.  'Nuff said.

Looking forward to next week?
The Daughter is coming home for Spring break.   Hopefully we'll be able to spend some quality time together.  We need to have a long talk at least.

Thankful for today?
*My kids.  They they are the source of much grief and worry in my life, they are a great joy to me.
*That my investment college fund actually went up and stayed up last week.  It tanked right before we sent #1 Son away to college(in 2008) for the first time and I've been waiting until it recovered to take the money out to use it for school.  Thankfully only a small piece of his college $ was in there and we didn't have to rely on it while it was down the toilet.
*That the taxes are done and submitted.  That's a load off my shoulders.

Go see Carla HERE to link up and play along.

Sunday Night Chit-Chat

It's Sunday night, which means it's time for Chit-Chat with CARLA.
This is a shot I caught last week of my 2 goofy dogs.  Every day around 3pm Cherry the beagle lays down and rolls on her back and just lays there and waits for Penny the chihuahua to notice.  When Penny notices she comes over and starts barking at Cherry, as Penny just can't stand it when Cherry lays there belly up.  Penny yaps and yaps until I either come over and roll Cherry over and tell her to stop begging for a belly rub or I pick up Penny and give her pets.
Usually I'll just go get their dinner bowls ready and they forget all about this "one upmanship" game. 8-)

If you haven't guessed they are both female and they both want to be top bitch.lol

Reading?

A funny book called "Do Over".  This guy goes back to watershed moments in his life that went badly and attempts to do-over his life.  He's done-over his horrible Kindergarten experience so far.  fun stuff....

Watching?

At 9pm EST I'll try to watch Hoarders.  After that I'll be primed to go gather up some things for Salvation Army.  It's my AA meeting.....keeps me motivated.

Listening to?

Hubs has some Harry Potter movie on behind me.  Plus the beagle is snoring.....the music of my life.lol

Cooking/Baking?

I went to the grocery's this morning and bought 2 roasting chickens.  I cooked one with veggies today for dinner.  That sure hit the spot!  And there is enough meat for another meal/dish or a big bowl of chicken salad.  I've never been a big fan of "salad" meat spreads(besides tuna)but we are craving chicken salad lately around here.  ;-)

Happy you accomplished this week?

Got taxes x 6 finished(and 4 of them filed online/via telephone) and we got the FAFSA x 2 filled out(but I still need to submit those online on Tuesday).  It's a weight off my mind and shoulders....and NOW I can get my dining room table cleaned off....yay!!!

Looking forward to next week?
Catching up on my Week 3 Decluttering Challenge.  Monday is set aside to get most of it done.

Thankful for today?

Everyone is mostly healthy, roof over the head, no big problems at the moment with the kids, no big expenses or repairs this month(other than the ones I planned for)and enough money put away for what may come that I don't have to worry about it.
