Frugal Friday....the April 4th Edition

Here are the frugal wins for this past week....

*  I love finding marked down foods at Kroger(this really doesn't happen at Walmart).  The lure of Ibotta sucked me back in so I bought some items for the food bank that had Ibotta offers.  I also got some marked down produce, salads and I found these three catfish fillets....
Not only were they marked down but they were also part of the Mega sale(buy 5, get $1 off each)so that made them $1.93 each.  I also bought 2 6-packs of Gold Peak tea which I'll need when we are moving, making it 5 items(and the tea was on sale and had an Ibotta rebate too!

*  We used up some pantry items as well.  The less we have to move the better. I'll be going through the pantry this weekend and culling a donation to the food bank.

*  There was no eating out this past week.

*  Made a sale locally of a ton of laundry detergent.  The people here are so flaky about showing up so I was glad to make this sale.

*  It's been warm here so the heat had been off during the day.  We actually had to put the a/c on a couple of days too.

*  Entertainment last week was free tv, YouTube watching, sitting on the deck reading or doing genealogy.  Still slogging my way through the Jesse James tome.

*  Played Bingo at Group Therapy on
Thursday and I won a pair of socks. 8-)

*  I found money!

Found a nickel at Walmart on 4/1, Tuesday.

Found .56¢ in the Walmart parking lot when  we went to pick up a new Rx.

Found Money This Week..... .61¢

Grand Total Found in 2025....$2.10

That's all I got.

Frugal Friday.....the March 28th Edition

Here are the frugal wins for this past week....

*  I love finding marked down foods at Kroger(this really doesn't happen at Walmart).  I only did a small shop at Kroger and Walmart so far this week....a couple of marked down salads, some marked down shredded asiago cheese, a big marked down can of tuna, and some beef brisket patties on clearance.  I also picked up a bakery treat for my group therapy gang(and some clearance cinnamon no sugar added applesauce cups for the 2 diabetics in the group).
I also found some thermal base layer top and pants marked down to $1 each, a zippy jacket for
$9 and a 3 pack of heavier Dr. Scholl's socks for $3 at Walmart.  I'll be needing these for our cruise in June in Svalbard near the Artic Circle. 8-)
I found something for Hubs birthday which is coming up as well.

*  We used up some pantry items as well.  The less we have to move the better. ;-)

*  There was no eating out this past week.

*  It's been warm here so the heat had been off during the day.  We actually had to put the a/c on a couple of days too.

*  Entertainment last week was free tv, YouTube watching, sitting on the deck reading or doing genealogy.  Finished the Roger Daltrey book and am slogging my way through the Jesse James tome.

*  I sent $25 from Swagbucks to my bank and used some of my Ibotta rebate monies to cash out for gift cards to pay for groceries.

*  I got a $3.99 full rebate for Schar gluten-free cookies I bought for the food bank.

*  I found money!

Found a quarter in the closet on 3/21.

I found this dime in Kroger on 3/24.

I found this penny in Walmart under a drink cooler on 3/26.

Frugal Friday......The March 14th Edition

Here are our frugal wins for this past week....

*  I love finding marked down foods at Kroger(this really doesn't happen at Walmart).  I found some lo-cal Swoon drinks, some Perfect bars on sale that also had Ibotta rebates, some marked down salads and Brussels Sprouts.

*  We used up some pantry items as well.  Had to buy Marsala wine for a dish I made but that will be used up before we leave here.

We also had food waste last week.   I went against my instincts and bought a large sweet potato at a store I don't trust to have the freshest produce.  Well I went to pick that tater up last week to peel it and my hand nearly went right through it, it was so rotten.  Lesson learned.

*  There was no eating out this past week.

*  While grocery shopping I picked up some items for the food bank we donate to.  It wasn't much cash out of hand but helps folks struggling here out and makes us feel good.
Spending money on groceries not for us isn't frugal but it certainly is frugal for others.  Especially if it's toiletries or paper goods which they can't use EBT/Snap benefits on.

* It's been warm here so the heat has been off during the day.  We even had the a/c on one day it was so warm.

*  Entertainment last week was free tv, YouTube watching, doing genealogy or reading.

*  I found money!

I found a penny in my pants pocket.

While at Walmart on Wednesday I  kept finding change in the store.  A penny here, a dime there, 2 pennies at a self-checkout nobody was using, another penny at yet another checkout and then 2 more pennies in the vestibule when I was leaving.

Then a quarter at Aldi's under where the carts are parked outside.

Frugal Friday....Feb. 7 to Feb 20

 Here are our frugal wins for this past week....

*  I love finding marked down foods at Kroger(this really doesn't happen at Walmart).  I found 2 bag of fresh veggies with stickers, an individual salad, a piece of cod  marked down  as well as a bag of protein cereal AND both were part of the mega sale too, plus a container of tuna salad.

*  We used up some pantry items as well.

*  I sold a length of fabric this past week finally on eBay.  Basically after fees I may have broke even.  At least it's one thing out of the house.  I'll probably donate the rest and take the tax write-off.   That will be mush easier and quicker to accomplish. ;-)

*  We also had no food waste last 2 weeks.   We cooked at home and then ate some leftovers this past week. There was no eating out.

*  Even with our record cold temps here lately our electric bill wasn't much higher.  I'll take that as a win!  My brother in VA got 12 inches of snow which is very rare for that area and they are snowed in.

*  Entertainment last week was free tv, YouTube watching, doing genealogy or reading.

*  I found money!

I found a penny in the parking lot of Kroger right behind our car 2 Friday's ago.  Since then it's been a big old dry spell.

Frugal Friday.....Feb. 7th to Feb 13th

Here are our frugal wins for this past week....

*  I love finding marked down foods at Kroger(this really doesn't happen at Walmart).  I found that Kevin's Thai Chicken dish on clearance that I wrote about on Monday.
I also found some veggies and a couple of bagged salads with clearance stickers too.

*  We also had no food waste last week.   We cooked at home and then ate some leftovers this past week.   I had green onions that were going South so Hubs used them in his Thai meal.

*  We didn't run the heat most of the week as the temp has been so high here right now.  It hit the 80Fs a couple of days this past week.  Crazy for February!

*  Entertainment last week was free tv, YouTube watching, doing genealogy or reading.

*  I found money!

We went to Walmart to pick up an Rx and I found 7¢ strewn about the floor beyond an actual manned checkout register as we walked by it on the way to the entrance/exit.

Except--
I've been out of sorts and after trying to get a discussion going on another blog.  The blog owner lashed out and her sycophants hurled personal insults at me.  Now I've got an ex-reader emailing me after she was told that her emails were unwanted and unwelcomed and she won't stop.  I don't need this kind of shit.  Has everyone in this world gone bat shit crazy?

Just trying to eat down what is here when I'm not getting great deals.  I chose my meals by cherry picking the deals and building meals around those items, combined with what is in my freezer.
What is getting fixed and served at your house this week?

Was last week's plan successful, did you go off plan or did you not even plan what was going to be eaten last week?

Frugal Friday......the December 22nd Edition

 There are a few Frugal wins this past week so here goes....

*  I went to PT 1x this past week.   Good thing I've hit all my deductibles and co-pays so I'm not shelling out cash for this service.

*  Grocery shopping this past week for December--best deals........

Got two bottles of Teriyaki sauce on clearance for $1.57 each at Kroger.

Used $80 in Walmart gift cards(bought using Ibotta funds which brought my grocery spending down to almost nothing there.

On the 19th I picked up 2 tubes of Colgate toothpaste at Walmart on clearance for $3.27 each(marked down from $4.98) and got a $4.00 rebate on Ibotta and another $4.00 back on Shopmium.   Then TaDa gave me another $3.00 back. I also picked up a package of Alka-Seltzer Boost for $4.97 and Shop Kick gave me back $4 in SKs.  Total OOP was $12.41 and I got back $15 back.

*  I found money!

I actually drove myself for the first time on Saturday last.  I went up to Walmart(shocking, I know!)  I spied this fine specimen by the candy machines leaving the store......
