KMart Double Coupons

KMart is doing Double Coupons this week(up to 5 Qs double when you spend $25 or more)and as I had to go to KMart anyway for a pick-up this week, I put together a transaction using my Qs.
The point was to find items on sale this week at KMart and pair them up with high value Qs that would double.
I did moderately well but not great and I couldn't find enough $2 Qs to pair with sale items.
Here is the best I could do.  It's hard to do this AND being able to double only 5 Qs.
I also have to make sure everything I bought was stuff I could use.

4 x Ziploc bags on sale $3=$12.00
3 x Gear Deodorant on sale $4=$12.00
1 x Glade candle on sale=$3.00

2 x $1/2 Ziploc IPQ(doubled)=$4.00

$27-$14=$13 + $.78 tax=$13.78 OOP

Well actually I didn't spend anything OOP because I used the rest of 2 gift cards with small balances on them I got last year for transferring RXs.

The BOGO Q didn't double obviously and the register wouldn't take 3 of the other 4 Qs.
Ugh.
Cashier said it's their system so she had to have a manager come over and put them through.
This transaction was a PITA as are most on the rare occasion I go to KMart.

But notice the Q the register spit out......

$5 off Grocery, Health Care and/or Beauty Care on a $5 purchase.
So basically I can get $5 of free stuff and if I buy grocery items there is no tax in PA.
Woohoo!

Also the Ziploc bags count toward a $5 rebate once I spend $22 on these products at SavingStar.
I am $10 away from that reward.
So I might just use this $5 Q to get 2 more boxes of Ziplocs at KMart.
I'd pay $1.06 OOP for them(I WOULD use another $1/2 Ziploc Q BUT typically you can't use other Qs with one of these Register Qs at KMart) and only need to purchase $4 more of Ziploc products to get my $5 rebate.

My KMart TOTALS for Double Coupons Week 9/27-10/3/09

Well.....last week was a fog for me.
A fog of KMarts.
Mr. Bluelight is my dealer and KMart is my own personal crack.
I can't say no to a KMart Double Coupons Event it seems....no matter how I try!
*sigh*
I blogged about my first 2 back-to-back trips last Sunday HERE.

I ended up doing NINE MORE TRANSACTIONS(some were multiple transactions in 1 trip mind you).  I was doing pretty well during the week....a trip here, a trip there.
It wasn't too bad until Saturday.
I took a Mental Health Day on Saturday.  A Mental Health Day for me involves leaving the house by myself....getting away from the dogs, the kids and the hubby.

So where did I go for my MHD this time?
Some times I go to the movies, some times I go to a Chinese Auction(a local form of raffle/auction/fundraising activity).
I went grocery shopping and KMart shopping this time!
Not only did I have KMarts to hit but I had expired & expiring ECBs to use and OYNO Cats for a local grocery store to use as they expired Sat. night.  So between the KMarts I squeezed in a trip to CVS, a trip to the local independent grocery store & a trip to scout out a Grocery Outlet I've seen but have never been in.

Like a junkie on Smack I woke up Sunday morning and couldn't remember what all I had bought at KMart last week beyond the 1st day of the double coupons last Sunday.
It was all a blur.
Seriously people.
It was that bad.

It took me all day Sunday to recover physically from all the walking with my poor arthritic knee on Saturday.
I spent Monday digging receipts, OYNO catalinas and bags of stuff out of the car.
I spent Tuesday schlepping everything into the house to photograph and then out to the stockpile or whereever it needed to go.
I spent Wednesday morning writing this and uploading pics.

I also earned $55 in OYNO Catalina Coupons for KMart.  I spent $15 of those in the course of the week on this loot so I have $40 left in OYNO Cats to spend.
In addition, I have 2 $5 Coupons for Holiday Candy, so after Halloween I can get $10 worth of clearanced Halloween Candy or Christmas Candy.
Hellooooo.....can you say FREE CHOCOLATE?!lol

I also have 6 separate receipts to send in for the SC Johnson Rebate/Buy 3 Get $5 back.  The Rebate is a limit of 3 per household, so I can send 3 of them in for BIL.  That will give me $30 in rebates bringing my OOP down to $22.12.

My KMart Fun during Double Coupons Week 8/16-8/22

I think I showed remarkable restraint this round at KMart during their Double Coupons Promotion that happened last week.

I only made 12 trips there. Ok, 12 transactions, not trips.
It was 7 Trips. 1 trip a day except for Tuesday and Friday.
No trips on Tuesday and 2 trips on Friday.
I have to go by there anyway, so why not stop when I have the time and do a little Free Shopping. ;-)

And because of the $3 off $20 and $5 off $25 coupons that the cash registers were spitting out, I didn't do $50+ on each transaction like I usually do. So in all, I bought a whole lot LESS than usual.
Here are the pictures of everything I bought.

First the food & drink......#2 son is ecstatic about the 5 Bazillion Amp energy drinks!lol

Here's a sneaky trick. See the bags of LifeSavers? Each one has a game piece and a $1 off Coupon inside the bag. Everytime KMart has Double Coupons I use 4 coupons from previous bags to buy 4 more bags....$1 coupon doubled=free bag of Lifesavers. I open the new bags and fish out the game piece/coupons and buy 4 more bags for free. Keep rolling those coupons each trip to KMart. As of now, I have about 50 bags of LifeSavers-not counting the ones we've eaten(that's $89.50 worth) and I'm only out $7.16 for the 1st 4 bags I bought back in April. Well, I got 1 bag with No Game Piece/Coupon this go round, so I am down to rolling 3 coupons per transaction.*sigh* lol

Then the Toiletries....I think #2 son absconded with a can of Tag because I know I had gotten 3.hmmmm....


Then the Cleaning, Laundry, Paper Products(yes, those are paper plates-eek!), Stationery Supplies, Batteries(for my camera and mouse)....

And a photo of assorted things I forgot to put in the other photos....ok, things in bags I found later...lol.....
Add to all that...

AND I got 2 FREE Movie Tickets for buying the Axe Products & I'll get a $5 Gift Card for buying the 4 Boxes of Kellogg's Cereal.

Now, I don't buy ONLY items that are free or almost free during the KMart Double Coupons Event. I use free or cheap as a guideline but I'll spend a bit more to get something that is a good deal (but not free or under $1)that we need.
For example, Purina Dog Chow was on sale for $10.99 for a 22lb. bag this past week.
A good price.
I had $2 coupons that doubled, giving me $4 off per bag. If I bought the Dog Food along with other items that were free with coupons, I could then use the $3 or $5 off your order KMart coupon toward lowering the Dog Food even more.....so, the $10.99 dog food becomes $7.99 with coupon and then $4.99 OR $2.99 with the $ off your order coupon when you spend XX$. Paying $5 or $3 for a big bag of dog food is amazing good!

Even with doubled Coupons, because of the sometimes ridiculously HIGH regular retail prices at KMart, I couldn't get a savings percentage this high(97%)....unless I pulled out my secret weapon when doing KMart Double Coupon shopping.

That secret weapon is.....Pharmacy Gift Cards!

When my KMart Double Coupon Week gets near, I go and transfer our prescriptions that need refilling to the KMart Pharmacy. KMart regularly puts out Reward Coupons that give you between a $10 & $25 Gift Card for each prescription you move to their Pharmacy.

With our Prescription Plan it really doesn't matter which Drug Store fills our meds....we get charged the same price. So having KMart fill them is the same as having Rite-Aid, Walmart, Target, etc. fill them. I am out the same amount no matter where, so I might as well get a perk(gift card)since I am going to have to spend the money anyway, right?

I was able to move 3 prescriptions for a total of $58.80 in Gift Cards.
$58.80 of free money to spend. Combine sales and doubled coupons with the Gift Cards and you can see how much you can get for ZERO out of your own pocket!

Next refill, I'll move them all back to where they were filled before or to a different Pharmacy if they lure me there with more Gift Cards.
2 months later, I can move them back to KMart for more Gift Cards to spend during a future Double Coupons Week.

Yep, that's $278.97 worth of stuff for $21.81 AND that includes the tax I paid.(If you remove the tax, I only paid $16.02 to KMart($5.79 to the State for tax).
How did I do it?

The July KMART DOUBLE COUPONS EVENT WEEK is, as they say, in the books now for my area.
Now that the week is over & my shopping trips are in the books, as they say, I can BREATHE again!
I don't know what it is about KMart and their Double Coupon Events but I get dragged into a week of full-blown Couponing Frenzy every time they hold it!
It helps(or is that hurts?lol)that I have 4 KMart stores within a half-hour of me....7 if I want to make it a 45 min. ride. Mostly I shop at the one just down the mountain from me as it's the closest(less gas used),the people there are so friendly & the store is kept up and organized. It's not always the best stocked, which is about the only thing negative I have to say about it. It's the most "customer friendly" KMart of the lot. 8-))

**I used 4 $2/1 Dove Visibly Smooth Qs. 2 of the Qs didn't double/adjust to $3.99, giving me the items free. These 2 Qs multiplied only .34¢ each according to my receipt. I immediately went to the CS Desk(I am not one to NOT complain when I am overcharged $3.30!) and we went over the receipt. The CS person called the manager over and we all went over the receipt. Half an hour later...lol...the manager said, she can't figure out why that happened but told the CS clerk to give me the $1.65x2Qs=$3.30 for the difference with the coupons that didn't double and she dashed off to take care of some pressing store emergency. So after finishing with 2 other customers problems, the CS person just opened to drawer and handed me the cash.....she didn't make me fill out anything or generate any paperwork or a receipt for the adjustment-hey, it was a Saturday morning and she was 5 deep in customers! So I don't have any documentation for that adjustment. But I do have the cash money! ;-)
