Small Finances....2018 Year End

This is my End of Year Small Finances money post for 2018.

I went through the various small pots of monies and here is where it all stands as of  December 21st.
I save up all my rebates/spare change/refunds to apply toward the food bill in December.
(I don't however put monies from things I sell during the year into this kitty.)

Here are my totals........

*  Rolled Coins--$49.50 to put toward the food budget.  This is mainly change we throw into a change cup throughout the year.

*  Here are the current cash rebate app totals for 2018 to this point in December........

   Ibotta  $382.11
Checkout 51  $12.50 *Can't cash this out until it hits $20*
   Savingstar  $88.65
Rebate apps Total....$470.79(w/out Checkout51)

*   My Weis Refund/mailed Rebates envelope has $48.80 in it.

*   My Rite-Aid Post Q/Refund envelope has $182.21 in it.

*   My found change envelope has $3.49 in it.

Altogether I have a Grand Total of $754.76 in funds to put back into the food budget in December.

2018 was a great year for small finances at Chez Sluggy.  The added cost of having a smartphone was balanced by being able to do a lot more in cash rebates w/phone apps.

Do you keep track of small streams of cash you receive?
Do you ear mark any of it for something special?

  3. I track all of my non salary/paycheck money & put it towards unfunded goals. We had over $10,500 this year. We include things like reimbursements for work expenses in that (we cover out of our cash flow & then treat the reimbursements as new income).

  4. Well done! I wish we had Ibotta in Canada, but we do have Checkout 51, I just don't often find products there that I buy regularly. I put my rebates/change into our fishing fund - but if it is a straight grocery rebate like Checkout 51 the amount I get back gets put back into the grocery budget for that month

  5. Nice bit of refunding/rebating/finding/ and coin tossing. This year I am going to make it a point to keep up with all of these.

  6. That is awesome. I only do Checkout 51 and found money. I have only 9.50 in Checkout 51,and we found $12.25, mostly because my husband was cleaning out a rental and change was all over the floor, otherwise it would have probably been about $4. You inspire to try harder, track more next year.

  7. Wow I guess I did not realize you put these things aside in envelopes. You are much more organized than I am about money. I am proud of you.

  9. Hi Sluggy, this is Chris. I appreciated this post, b/c it shows what a real person can make doing the rebate programs like Ibotta and Checkout 51. I don't do these, b/c I didn't know if it was worth it financially or not. I started doing Fetch Rewards, but can't do it anymore b/c my electronic devices are too old with their recent software update. And, I am not in the market for new devices yet. It looks like Ibotta might be worth trying.
