This Week on the Dining Table

The "It's Too Hot to Cook" Edition--

This week(since Friday)has been a scorcher here and it's suppose to continue until the weekend.  The humidity didn't ramp up until yesterday at least so I did do some cooking.  Today the crock pot will be called into service and we'll not be running the oven(Tuesday's pizza may turn into a take-out situation because of the heat instead of homemade).
Do you think I can get away with cereal for dinner for 4 nights? lolz

Last week saw lots of cooking although Daughter did some of it. yay!

Last week saw 5 nights of home cooked dinners, 2 night of leftovers/fend for yourself, 0 nights of Take-Out or Eating Out.

A trip to Weis brought the weekly food spending to $17.08 and the monthly total to $417.92.
I have 29 days left in my shopping month for July.

My savings percentages last week was 65.32%(without Rite-Aid trips)and June's monthly savings total came to 65.39%(or 53.78% w/out Rite-Aid).

Leftovers going into this week......Paella, 3 pieces of Chicken Parm, Refried Beans, Spanish Rice and 1 Pork Tenderloin.

Here is this week's "food plan".....

1. Sunday--Chicken w/Queso and Noodles Casserole, Salad
2. Monday--Garlic Pork Roast, Brussels Sprouts, Stuffing
3. Tuesday--Pizza
4. Wednesday--Cook-Out Foods
5. Thursday--BLTs
6. Friday--Leftovers
7. Saturday--Chicken Tenders, leftover Cook-Out sides

This week will see 6 new meals cooked, 1 night of leftovers/FFY and 0 nights of Take-Out/Eating Out.

What needs buying for this menu? Potatoes, peppers, watermelon, tomatoes, corn, milk and we need bread.
I'm hoping to get through this week on $50 or less.

What is getting fixed and served at your house this week?

Was last week's plan successful, did you go off plan or did you not even plan what was going to be eaten last week?

Any great deals on food at your stores this week?

  1. I just hate cooking when it's so hot. Thankfully we've had a mild summer so far.

  2. You are better than I, I hate cooking or eating when it is hot. We have been eating out too much since we are living in extended stay hotel 90 days. Oh well!

  3. Not sure if your family are pasta eaters, but I find the Pasta Prima vera in the crock pot the greatest recipe for summer ever! I like t load my with vegetables and not use meat, but no reason you can't. It basically is uncooked pasta of choice, layered between sauce, cheese, and vegetables, with sauce left for the top. Cook on low and forget about it! It's part of my Wednesday 4th plan and for Saturday for a potluck/grilled hot dog picnic.

Might have to put this on the menu this Summer from the crock pot as long as I have something Daughter can eat that's Keto compliant. thanks

  4. We are in the high 90's moving into the 100's so there will be a LOT of crockpot meals, salad-type meals, and bbqing - the oven will be taking a vacation!!!!! That chicken w/queso & noodle casserole sounds interesting - is there a recipe?

    1. It's boxed cheat/convenience thing, add chicken. It was pretty lame so we won't be doing that again but I might find a recipe and try it again but with more spice as everyone but me though it was too mild. If you find a recipe for something like this let me know Sue!

  6. There were loads of bargains this week. I just about wore myself out shopping Sunday. It is hot down here. For the first time the crockpot made the kitchen unbearable!

  7. It is too hot to cook, but I am cooking anyway.
How is your daughter liking the Keto thing? I am finding I am cooking my brains out on it.
