This Week on the Dining Table

The "Why, Oh Why, Do I Have to Come Home to My Boring Life" Edition.......

Who can meal plan when all I want to do is relive last weekend in my head?  This shot was taken at The Purple Parrot in Rehoboth Beach DE.  We had lunch there on Saturday.  It was all decked out for St. Patty's Day weekend.
And frankly, that sign wasn't the only thing lit up there when I left....... ;-)

And here is what was planned last week---

Sunday--Chicken with Pot Pie Noodles, Carrots
Monday--Beef Stew with onions, carrots, potatoes and I might throw in the leftover asparagus too!
Tuesday--Fend for Yourself(Hubs not home for dinner)
Wednesday--Burgers or Sloppy Joes, Sugar Snap Peas
Thursday--?
Friday--?
Saturday--?

And here is what actually happened---

Sunday--Chicken with Pot Pie Noodles, Carrots
Monday--Beef Stew with onions, carrots, potatoes and I might throw in the leftover asparagus too!
Tuesday--Chicken Sandwich, Salad(I was the only one home for dinner.)
Wednesday--Burgers, Sugar Snap Peas
Thursday--I don't care what they ate. Bwaaaaahhh
Friday--Ditto
Saturday--Ditto

Everything as planned.
My guys got pizza on Saturday and they ate leftovers on Friday and I didn't even ask about Thursday.

As for the food spending update.....I spent a total of $87.96 on groceries last week between the Bread Outlet and Weis(PoundMeInTheAss)Markets.  Saved 34.46% over regular retail in all as I bought some things not on sale.  Not great but not bad.

I have spent a total of $233.96 in March of our $300-$400 food budget.  I'm going to try to eat from the pantry/freezer/stockpile and not shop for food this week as much as possible. I'd like to go into the final week of March having spent under $300 for the month.

Oh and no food waste last week either.

Going into the new week here are the leftovers we have......2 med. helpings of Chicken w/Pot Pie Noodles and Carrots, 1 cantaloupe, 4lbs. of yellow squash, a large helping of Beef Stew.

Here is this week's meal plan----

Sunday--Hamburger & Noodles, Sugar Snap Peas(I just had a bowl of veggies.)
Monday--leftover Chicken w/Pot Pie Noodles and Carrots
Tuesday--Meatloaf(freezer), Squash Casserole(use the squash on hand)
Wednesday--Crab Cakes(freezer), Haddock(freezer), Sautéed Green Beans(freezer)
Thursday--Kielbasa(freezer) on Rolls, Squash Casserole(leftovers), Potato Salad
Friday--Pork Chop(freezer), Roasted Cauliflower and Carrots, Applesauce
Saturday--Roast Chicken(freezer), Sweet Corn Cake, Veggie Mélange(freezer)

What I need to purchase for this menu?.......Rolls for the Kielbasa, Cauliflower and turkey deli meat for lunches, any spices or staples we've run out of(I haven't checked on things yet), and maybe some loss leaders.
I am hoping to spend $40 or less for all.

What is getting fixed and served at your house this week?

May the Devil Know Them From Their Limping

And if you know the rest of that Irish toast, you are my kind of people!

Well I bugged out of Delaware just in time, beating the snow storm that came east.
I arrived home at 4pm and never hit any precipitation along the way.
This storm passed through Pennsylvania too but didn't spread to the northern environs were I live.
I'm sorry my new friends Todd and Ann Marie who had planned on staying through Monday had to leave Lewes early. 8-(

Anyway, I napped when I got home yesterday from the Bloggerpalooza II and I will spend today catching up on my sleep with another nap later this afternoon.
I'll be back tomorrow with my "This Week on the Dining Table" post.  Yes, I'll be a day late but nothing new for me, right? lolz

Instead of raising a pint(or five)today, I'll be drying out from my trip to Bloggerpalooza II.
It goes against all my Gaelic DNA but it must be done.

I'll leave you, this fine, but chilly, Saint Patrick's Day with a musical interlude from Mackelmore & Ryan Lewis that I "heart" alot.

From all my O'Brien, McCarthy, Kelleher, O'Neal, Bowman, Redfern, McGovern, Healey, Roche, Forrester/Foster, Carey, Chaplin, Flippen, Cashion, Claiborne and all the other unknown-to-me at this time Irish Ancestors.

To my new friends from Bloggerpalooza I'll lift my glass and toast you all....

"May the hinges on our friendship never grow rusty."

Life is Unfair

Oh woe is me today!

*Bloggerpalooza II has ended and I am not ready for that to happen.  I need more Mimosas!
Oh and more chuckles and smiles too.....

*I have to pack everything up and haul it out to the car.....and the car is 4 steps from my door.

*It shall take about 18 trips to the car to get it all onboard, since I have prizes and love to also load for the trip home.

*I shall have to eat breakfast alone, yet again.  sniff  You know, it's important to have your friends around for that first meal of the day....
If anyone needs me I'll be sittin' all alone in the Cracker Barrel.

*Did I mention I don't want to go home yet?  And Ron, our host, is such a sweetie....or is that more like the "Belle of the Ball"?.......

*My daughter gave me a heads up about what she wants me to buy her here a little late so I have to hang around and wait for the stores to open, and since it's Sunday that would mean 11 or noon.
So I shan't be getting an early start back on the road.

*Ditto because I want to go to the Easy Spirit shoe outlet here.  (Easy Spirit=comfortable shoes for old ladies with wide feet but Outlet=frugal)

*Did I mention I don't want to go home and leave my new friends??  Ya know, I would drive to the ends of the Earth for these guys/gals.
Ok, maybe not the ends of the Earth put certainly as far as Millsboro.....

Life is so unfair sometimes!

So Many Men, So Little Time!

It's not like that......

Just having too much fun and not enough hours to do that, sleep AND post so enjoy another bit of Gaelic influenced music and I'll be back next week!

Bloggers and Fishes and Bear(Hugs), Oh My!

I woke this morning to snow, wind and temps hovering at around 10 degrees Fahrenheit in Northeast PA.
Not the best of weather in which to travel by Slugmobile.

So I waited until the sun came out and then went forth......with trepidation in my heart....

Driving the PA Turnpike is a thrill a minute.   Between the road construction, oversized tractor trailers exceeding the speed limit and tailgating you in the left lane and the high winds that were glorious today(ha!) it's better than any amusement park thrill ride.
Really.

And by 10:30 am I hit the Turnpike Tunnel.

This is the tunnel through a mountain and Allentown is on the other side.
The longstanding joke in our family is that it can be blizzarding on the northern side of this tunnel but as soon as you come out the southern end, the sun is shining and grass is sprouting.
Yep, the weather had a bipolar moment the second I came out of that tunnel on the southern end.

As soon as I got down into the King of Prussia/Philly section I started to enjoy the drive much more.
I unclenched my jaw  and I stopped grinding my teeth.

By Noon I passed into Wilmington Delaware.  I decided not to hit the TOTAL WINE store since I got such a late start.

The weather got a tad warmer and the traffic thinned out by the time I hit the St. George's bridge.....

I quick stop for a lunch sandwich and before you know it I start seeing signs......

Heck, even every duck in the state was along Route 1 to welcome me into town.....

They must have heard about the Bloggerpalooza and wanted an invite too!

I got to town too early to check-in so some shopping was in order.
I hit a couple select clothing outlets nearby to get duds for #2 Son, the Mart for some bottle water for me and a liquor store for......*ahem*.......liquid provisions......

A short while after checking into my motel and letting a few folks know I had arrived safely, I heard someone thumping on my door.
It was Jay in VA and Randy in NEB come to chauffeur me to the Inn to meet up with some of the others who had arrived already.
Jay and Randy scooped me up on their way to the Inn to check in so I got to hang out in their room.

I took in the canal view from the balcony ......

I got back in and of course they are messing with the electronics and the wifi like a couple of proper technogeeks. lol

What do you do in an elevator?
Why, you take a selfie......

Ignore that women's rather large nostrils in your face please......

I think Jay liked my "stop by Burley Oak Brewing and drink a bit on the way to Lewes" suggestion, don't you? ;-)

Java appeared, as did Ron and Pat and we had hugs all round.

Note to self--next year, remember to bring a step stool when it's "hug time", as all these folks make me look like a Hobbit in comparison!

We commandeered the front desk clerk who was subbing for Ron T.'s shift to take our photo so we could preserve this moment for posterity.....about 5 shots on 5 different camera/phones....

(l to r-Pat from Toronto, Randy in NEB, Java Jones, Ron T., Sluggy & Jay in VA)

We hiked en masse over to Striper Bites for an evening of food, libation(some of us)and camaraderie.
When in a place with art like this on the walls, it would behoove one to eat fish tacos and crab bisque soup....and that just what I did.

Ron T. and Randy in NEB checking the latest Round Robin of photos.....

Speaking of photos, did I mention that we pestered the waitress to take our photo with multiple cameras/phones?

After an evening of good food and good conversation(and me spilling half my meal down my shirt), we started the task of splitting and paying our bills.

I'll just let you make up your own scenario for this shot.  Is Jay in pain, falling asleep on his feet or doing his Godfather impersonation?

Marlon or Jay?......you decide.....

Another brisk walk in the brisk night air back to the Inn and one more photo op before Jay drove me back to the motel.....

More arrivees on the morrow and more good times on the horizon.

My bed is calling me.
I am wiped.

It's Almost Time!

By the time you read this I'll be on the road to Delaware for the BLOGGERPALOOZA!

It's cold as a whore's heart here and it is snowing.
I hope this doesn't delay me too much on my journey.

Here's a musical interlude to get your heart thumping this morning and get you into an Irish frame of mind.
Enjoy and I'll be checking in this weekend when I am sober can.  ;-)
