Frugal Friday.....the December 22nd Edition

Here are a few things we did to stay the frugal course this past week........

*  Some Rite-Aid trips last Friday.....

And this past Wednesday for free and almost free items after Plenti Points used.......

* More Weis(PMITA)Markets Deals..........

 The 8 O'Clock coffee is still BOGO this week and I plan on picking up 10 more bags as I have enough coupons for all that.

* We went out to celebrate the Daughter's birthday at lunchtime to her favorite Mexican restaurant.  I snagged a $20 certificate for $10 2 days ago to use there since I knew she wanted to go there, snf saved me $10 off the bill.

That's about all I can think of since I am feeling sick. Ugh.  Sinus Infection just in time for Christmas.
Hohoho

My Tomato Vegetable Soup w/Pasta Recipe

By popular demand......

The recipe I used for my Progresso Tomato Vegetable Soup copycat is HERE.

But......
I didn't use vegetable stock, I used chicken stock instead(because that's what I had).
I also subbed puree tomatoes for diced tomatoes and I tripled that ingredient from the recipe, I subbed cut up green beans for the celery hearts as well.
And I doubled the amount of zucchini and tripled the amount of pasta.
Soooo....basically I made up a new recipe. lolz

Progresso copycat Tomato Vegetable Soup with Pasta by Sluggy  8-)))

5 C. chicken stock or broth
1 large can tomato puree
1 C. water
1 C. pasta(small shells)
1 can whole kernel corn
1 1/2 C. green beans
1 1/2 C. carrot slices
2 small zucchini, chopped
1 yellow onion, chopped
1 TB.. garlic powder
1 TB EVOO
Salt and Pepper to taste

* sweat onions in EVOO
* Add garlic powder to EVOO/onions to "bloom" for 1 minute or so.
* Add stock, water and tomato puree, to boil.
* Turn down heat to simmer, add any  "fresh veggies" to pot to cook them.
* When fresh veggies are tender, add any canned or frozen veggies.
* Wait 5 minutes, then add pasta, cover and simmer until pasta is done.
* Serve.

--Frozen, Fresh or Canned veggies are all fine.
--If you wish a thinner soup/broth just adjust amount of stock/broth and/or add more tomato puree to taste.

Rite-Aid & Weis This Week

I forgot to mention this second trip to Rite-Aid last week Friday afternoon...........

More of those .88¢ Snapple drinks which earned me back $2 in new Plenti Points, a couple of Daylogic razors and blade refills I had rain checks for from earlier in the year which were free after Plenti Points earned so I got them free on the rain checks.
$3.63 w/tax and earned $2 back in Plenti Points so I spent down PPs by $1.63.
The catalina machine spit out a $2/1 Gillette save gel on that transaction so I bought a Gillette shave gel and a .69¢ candy bar since the shave gel was $1.79 on sale and the $2 CatalinaQ would have made me negative .21¢.  After .11¢ tax this transaction came to .59¢ which I paid for on a gift card.
