Weis & Rite-Aid This Week

Considering there weren't many deals I wanted to do at Weis I sure spent like a drunken sailor on Wednesday there!

Here are the highlights from Weis......

The 6 items on the right were part of the Mix and Match 6/Get $3 off Instantly Deal.

2 x Heinz bbq sauces on sale=$3.98
1 x Nivea in-shower lotion on sale=$5.49
2 x Smart Made frozen meals on sale=$5.98
1 x Sandwich Bros. breakfast sandwiches on sale=$3.49
SubTotal........$18.94

Coupons Used
1 x $1/2 Heinz bbq sauces CatlinaQ=$1.00
1 x $1/1 Nivea item Weis bookletQ=$1.00
1 x $2/1 Nivea in-shower lotion IPQ=$2.00
1 x $1/2 Smart Made items Weis bookletQ=$1.00
1 x $1/2 Sandwich Bros. items Weis bookletQ=$1.00
1 x $1.50/1 Sandwich Bros. item IPQ=$1.50
Coupon Total.....$7.50 + $3 instantly Off=$10.50

$18.94-$10.50=$8.44 + .11¢ tax on the lotion=$8.55 for all 6 items or $1.42 each.

I had gotten a $2.50 CatalinaQ for Nutella a couple of weeks ago so I got a jar for Xmas cookie making and it only cost me $1.09 after using that Q.

I also stacked a BOGOFree IPQ for those Hershey Cookie Layer Crunch things with a $2/2 Hershey Cookie Layer Crunch Weis bookletQ to get each bag of those for $1.00.
Reg. price was $3.99 each x 2=$7.98-$3.99-$2=$1.99 for both bags.

The Daughter's birthday was yesterday and she wanted Tiramisu instead of a reg. birthday cake so I paid $14 regular retail for that. ouch but she only turns 25 once, right? ;-)

I also got 5 1 lb. blocks of assorted cheeses for $3.47(rock bottom around here), 3 bags of chocolate chips($1.87 each) and a few packages of instant discount meats worth mentioning.

$91.09 OOP total for all and a 40% savings rate overall.

While I was at Rite-Aid picking up an Rx I bought this too.....

The Yoohoo, Snapple and V8 Energy drinks are .88¢ each this week(.80¢ if you have 20% Wellness discount level)and for every 2 you buy in a single transaction you get back $1 in Plenti Points.
Some of the bagged Dreamhouse candies/nuts are 50% off this week and also give back $1 in Plenti Points when you buy 2 in a single transaction.

3 x Yoohoo .80¢=$2.40
1 x Snapple= .80¢
2 x Jordan Almonds 50% off=$2.98
Total.....$6.26 + .15¢ tax=$6.41 using Plenti Points.

I earned back $3 in new Plenti Points so I spend down points by $3.41.
Other than some cheap drinks I don't see any "deals" at Rite-Aid through Christmas week.  Maybe some 50% candy and stuff after the 25th but that's about it.

Just waiting on hearing more details about this Bonus Cash thing that is replacing Plenti Points.  Not liking that I'm hearing they expire in 60 days instead of 2 years like PPs.  I think if I need to divest myself of PPs soon I won't be pillaging much at Rite-Aid after that.  8-(

Last Rite-Aid Post of 2016

So Rite-Aid started their New Year/January Points Scheme early last Sunday(even though the new year wasn't arriving for another week).
Spend $50 on "Starting Points" designated items and earn $20 back in Plenti Points.  Basically this amounts to a 40% discount on purchased items.
A 40% discount unless you work it like I do! ;-)

As I traipsed up to Rite-Aid this past week to pick-up prescription refills I bought items to get me to $50 spent(the spending tracked and you could buy items in multiple transactions)....without spending $50 of course! lolz

The photo is a compilation of what I bought for this Deal but does not include some bulky things like 8 12-packs of Pepsi branded soda and 4 cases of Rite-Aid branded bottled water.

5 x Clear Care contact lens solution(not part of the Starting Points)=$39.95
2 x Progresso soup on sale=$3.00
8 x 12-packs of soda on sale=$26.64*not pictured*
4 x Big Win bottled water cases(rain check item)=$5.16*not pictured*
2 x Scott toilet tissue on sale=$13.98
3 x single serve Nabisco snacks on sale=$1.50
SubTotal.....$90.23($50.28 qualifies for Starting Points Deal)

Coupons Used
5 x $5/1 Clear Care In-AdQ=$25.00
4 x $5/1 Clear Care IPQ=$20.00
1 x $4/1 Clear Care CatalinaQ=$4.00
1 x .50¢/2 Progresso ManuQ=.50¢
4 x $2/2 Pepsi brand 12-packs IPQ=$8.00
2 x .70¢/1 Scott 12 pack tp IPQ=$1.40
Coupon Total.....$58.90

$90.23-$58.90=$31.33+$1.18 tax=$32.51

I paid with $32.51 of Plenti Points.
I earned back $26 in new Plenti Points($20 for buying $50 of Starting Points items, 2 x $3 wyb2 Clear Care items), thus making my total "spent" $6.51.
I also earned $1.50 in cash rebates($1 for buying 2 Progresso soups from SavingStar and .50¢ for buying 1 Diet Pepsi 12-pack soda from Checkout51), making my grand total for all the above $5.01.
No actual money was spent as I used Plenti Points to pay so I "spent down" my points by $6.51 and got $1.50 back in cash, making the "cost" $5.01.

Not only was the contact solution a moneymaker after my 20% Wellness discount and stacked coupons it also gave back $3 in Plenti Points when you bought 2.  Limit of 2 of this deal so I didn't get points back for the 5th bottle I purchased but that one still was a $1.01 moneymaker.
These items' $9.05 in overage I applied to the cost of the Starting Points items that were bought.

I could have saved another .60¢ on the toilet tissue had the store not been out of Cottonelle tp, which was also on sale for $6.99 and qualified as a Starting Points item.  I had $1/1 Qs for that brand but only .70¢/1 Qs for the Scott brand.

I had a rain check for the Big Win bottled water from this summer when it was on sale for $1.99 per case, which made it a better buy than this week's sale price of $2.50.  However when the cashier rang it up she somehow put it in for $1.29 a case and not $1.99 a case, which I didn't catch until I got home.
I should have been over $50 in purchases of SP items without those 3 packs of cookies.  These had to be bought the next day to get me over $50 spent and my $20 in Plenti Points credited to my account.

Since I try to only "buy" stuff that we can/will use and no one here wears contacts, that Clear Care solution will be sent to my eldest son's fiancee(if she can use it)or will be taken to the food bank and/or sold on the local FB yard sale site.
All the other items will be utilized by the household here.

My stats for 2016 are as follows......
* June and August saw no spending/shopping at Rite-Aid at all in 2016.
* 10 months I brought merchandise home from Rite-Aid, ranging from $19.29 worth in July to $717.24 worth in January.
* Total goods "bought" at Rite-Aid in 2016 was $3,390.29.
* Total out of pocket actual money spent at Rite-Aid in 2016 was $2.99.  Less than $3 spend for the year for $3390.29 worth of goods.  I managed to do this by rolling Plenti Points and using Plenti Points earned on prescription transfers or the purchase of gift cards for spending I was going to do, so why not use gift cards bought at Rite-Aid and get the Plenti Points benefit?
* Savings rate for the year of Rite-Aid shopping was 99.91%.  Not 100% but hey!, we aren't perfect.  ;-)

So ends a year of shopping at Rite-Aid.

Who knows what things we will "buy" in 2017 and if the Walgreen's merge will finally happen.

Rite-Aid This Week

Trotted up to Rite-Aid on Sunday and bought this stuff.....

2 x Ensure drinks 20% wellness disc. less than sale price($6.79)=$13.58
1 x huge bottle of Vitamin C 75% off=$3.82
SubTotal......$17.40

Coupons Used
2 x $3/1 Ensure IPQ(have to sign up on their website)=$6.00
2 x $2/1 Ensure VideoValues Q=$4.00
2 x $1/1 Rite-Aid PeelieQ(one each 4 pack)=$2.00
Coupon Total.....$12.00

$17.40-$12.00=$5.40
I used $5.25 in +Up Rewards and paid .15¢ OOP.

I received back $6 in new +Up Rewards(2 x $3 ensure).
I hadn't planned on buying the mega bottle of Vitamin C but, $3.82 for a $15+ bottle, how could I resist?

The next morning I picked up a refill Rx and a transferred Rx(why hike all the way down the valley to Walmart for an Rx when it's the same price now that our deductible is met?).

That Rx transfer, with a coupon from last week's sales ad, gave me a shiny new $25 +Up Reward too.

With the change at Rite-Aid and no more +Up Rewards soon, at least I can go out with a bang.
Next week is looking like a good week for rolling +Ups so I need to come up with a plan for "using" this.

The Rite-Aid ad's for the first week of April are up(just the cover pages so far)and there are some Buy & Earn type items pictured to earn gas points or a gas card?  I hope this isn't to replace the +Ups program.
I am sad.....

Well I Lied!

Because the weather was nice and sunny though frigid, Hubs and I went out for a bit yesterday.

I had $5 to spend at Kohl's.
I ended up spending a bit more to use that $5 but it was a clearance find or two(or three).

Then we had lunch.....

Of course I used a coupon.  ;-)

Then it was off to the local craft brewery.....

Hey, that looks good, I'll have one of those!

Hubs got an IPA, then a small flight of 3 samples and a Growler fill before we left to go home.
I had considered stopping in at KMart to check out the Winter clothing clearance deals but we decided to head home instead after using my gas points to fill my car's gas tank.

Oh, and the first stop when we headed out was to Rite-Aid.
You see, I had a $1 off coupon for a brand of hand cream Hubs likes.  After coupon and 20% wellness discount I'd still have to spend down the +Up Rewards about $5.  So I also bought some tubes of Cerave lotion.......

1 x Working Hands 20% off=$5.83
2 x Cerave lotion BOGO50%=$7.93
SubTotal......$13.76

Coupons Used
1 x $1/1 Working Hands ManuQ=$1.00
1 x $7/2 Cerave porducts ManuQ=$7.00
Coupon Total......$8.00

$13.76-$8.00=$5.76 + .41¢ tax=$6.17

I used $5 in +Up Rewards and paid $1.17 on a gift card I need to use up.
I received back a $3 +Up Reward for buying the Cerave items(They cost me .93¢ after coupon but I got back $3 so that was a moneymaker item and helped cover a bit of the cost of the Working Hands cream.)

Since I've closed out the books for February on Friday night I'll put this trip on March's food/toiletries budget.

Today it started snowing way earlier than they forecast so I've been inside doing book work, genealogy, DNA, and binge re-watching Downton Abbey in between popping outside to do a little shoveling.

Yes, just another thrilling weekend here in the armpit of PA.  ;-)
